Barrie Lindsay is a soft spoken, obsessive producer and songwriter who grew up tinkering with instruments in Ipswich, Massachusetts. After graduating from Wesleyan in 2012 with a degree in music, Lindsay formed her first band with her brother, a 5-piece group called Grammar. She spent her 20's quietly making music in Boston and working at a sculpture studio until she was discovered on Soundcloud by a manager who encouraged her to move to Brooklyn and pursue a career in music by forming a band. Lindsay obliged and soon Barrie, the 5-piece band, was born. After a number of successful singles, Barrie released their debut in 2019, Happy To Be Here, earning buzzy press, TV syncs, and new fans around the globe. A month after Happy To Be Here came out, the band parted ways and Lindsay reintroduced Barrie as a solo project. In the two years since then, the 32-year old suffered the loss of a parent, and married her wife, Gabby. While Lindsay has maintained a separation between her personal feelings and lyricism inprevious works, she allowed herself to find catharsis in songamidst the intense love and grief she was experiencing. One night during a moment of grief, Lindsay couldn't bring herself to set up the mic properly in her studio. Instead, she opted to shout across the room in a true "fuck-it" moment. Liking the effect this produced, she decided to stick with it, yielding "Dig," a self-produced single featuring an impressionistic slew of slide guitar, dulcimer, and mandolin. You can hear her newfound sense of boldness, as she wails the song's central refrain, giving herself over to emotion: "I can't get enough of you / Where did you come from?" Whereas "Dig" floats in a seeming free-time, Barrie's second single, "Frankie," is locked into a driving, propulsive rhythm. Its bass synth, which remains constant throughout, is meditative and hypnotic. Among skittering arpeggios and melodic hooks, the song's message asks listeners to consider capitalism. The Bay Area's Smiles are back with their second 7" and what a blast it is. Superbly-crafted pop is the order of the day here, with echoes of everything from prime Teenage Fanclub to Big Star to the southern power-pop of folks like Dwight Twilley and Tommy Hoehn. "Gone For Good" is 3:33 of pop perfection, with a marvelous melody, heavenly harmonies and a bit of a triumphant guitar solo sneaking in at the end. On the flip side we get another gem in "This Boy," a brief tune that still feels fully-formed, rather in the style of fellow West Bay songsmith Tony Molina. HIGHLIGHTSAs a follow-up to our previous work reissuing the recordings of Pau Riba, key figure in Catalonia's counter-culture and music scene, Munster presents "Ars Erótica", one of his most sought-after singles, in the 50th anniversary of its original release.It includes alternative edits of two songs included on his classic album Dioptria/1, great examples of his psychedelic folk-rock style at the time that also picture the chilled-out vibe at the studio where Riba was backed by the band Om and some guest friends.DESCRIPTIONAs a follow-up to our previous work reissuing the recordings of Pau Riba, key figure in Catalonia's counter-culture and music scene, Munster presents "Ars Erótica", one of his most sought-after singles, in the 50th anniversary of its original release.This is a misterious and surprising record that was originally released on Concèntric and featured alternative edits of two songs previously included on his classic album Dioptria/1. 'Ars Erotica (non est mihi)' is edited to last just under 5 minutes, after taking out some verses and arrangements, although keeping intact its psychedelic folk-rock essence, with plenty of fuzz guitars.On the flipside we can find the possibly most interesting recording on this single, clearly showing what the vibe and work method were at the studio: all the musicians playing simultaneously in a chilled-out atmosphere. This edit of 'Rosa d'abril (l'amor s'hi posa)' starts right in the same point where the album edit finishes, with Pau Riba backed by the band Om jamming and some of the guest friends at the studio joining in, including the film producer and script writer Joaquim Jordà, who Riba wrote this song for.

Spice singer Ross Farrar speaks of the band's ambition to forge a sort of aesthetic patois: a mode of expression as strikingly regional as it is recognizable. Last year's self-titled debut, released in the depths of the pandemic, fully achieved this goal, distilling decades of North Bay punk and post-hardcore into an urgent, artful set of emotive unrest. Their latest single, A Better Treatment b/w Everyone Gets In, further refines the group's singular mix of weathered melody and abrasive poetics, equal parts bracing, bruised, and cryptic. "A Better Treatment" began as a song about a friend who died but through the turmoil of collaboration transformed into something more macroscopic and opaque, blurring the boundary between hopeful and defeated ("I thought loving someone would cure my self-hatred"). Bass and drums build against walls of guitar while the violin threads its own melancholy within the noise; Farrar is blunt about the intention: "The violin is an instrument of death you know." "Everyone Gets In" is both poppier and more pained, an anthem for angst aging into the reverie of regret: "We lose our strength / along the way / we lose each other / the funeral sways." The tempo sways too, gradually slowing to an anxious crawl before finally revving back into a storm of shimmering guitar and splashing drums, fighting against the dying of the light. It's music of raw truths and rejected pedestals, storied but unswerving, a revolt against the great regress: "and my / my time is spent / adoring seasons / that I / I never should've."

Son Demon & His Holy Boys are an authentic sounding Finnish rockabilly trio founded in the middle of the winter of 2021. The band draw their influence from the traditional 1950's rockabilly music mixed with the garage sound of the early Rollin' Rock label recordings. The band is a new combo but the singer Veli-Pekka "Vellu" Lehtonen and the bass player Iikku Riepponen are no newcomers. Vellu has his roots firmly in the late 1980's psychobilly, while Iikku is known from for example Mike Bell & The Belltones among other line-ups. The band's influences stretch from a wide range of music - from classic 1950's rock 'n' roll and blues to garage rock, psychobilly and even punk, but within Son Demon & His Holy Boys they concentrate on their shared love: authentic 1950’s rockabilly.
