If it had to be chosen an unconventional project among the spanish progressive scene in the last few years, without any doubt the asturian band ZEM would be the one. Lead by the virtuoso vibraphonist Xuan Zem, together with members from LOS ILEGALES, their debut album was released in the beggining of 2008. Their music is based on a powerful rhythmic section, with the vibraphone, the bass and the drums as a central basis. Over this structure they develop compositions around jazz rock, with brass arrangements and sax solos, guitar and of course, vibraphone. When Zak Sally left his position as bassist for the minimalist rock band LOW after 12 years, he was pretty certain he was done with music, choosing instead to concentrate on his cartooning (Recidivist, Sammy The Mouse), and his small-press venture, La Mano 21. However, he remained absolutely terrified by music, and so found himself drawn back into the basement with the self-imposed rule to write/play/sing/make every sound in every song-no matter what. Eventually he brought the whole mess over to his friend Ben Durrant's (Andrew Bird, Dosh, Shearwater) Crazy Beast studio and they made a record out of it. Friends since high school, middle aged pop-punkers The Young Hasselhoffs are reunited after a decade-long sabbatical, that followed a decade-long sabbatical, punctuated by a brief reunion. Confused? Let’s start over. Matt, Jason, and Phil started TYH in 1998, right out of high school. They very quickly earned a reputation for writing super-catchy, sugary sweet, pop punk meets doo-wop tunes and released their debut full length CD Win A Date With on the legendary Melted Records in 1998. TYH continued their historic pop punk legacy with a few more CD and 7inch releases on Insubordination and Far Out Records, made numerous comp appearances, and three US tours, reality intervened. The rock dream seemed dead. Matt, Jason and Phil decided to go their separate ways. And they did. Despite being considered largely irrelevant as an actual band 20 years ago, Phil managed to talk everyone into making a new record. Matt wrote demos from Colorado, Jason and Phil re-relearned their instruments in Omaha, and (with the help of the internet) they were ready to record with producer Andrew Berlin at the Blasting Room in August 2021.

Re-issue of Debut album from Wobbler - Hinterland! Progressive rock in 2005 had gotten slick, soulless and narrow-minded. Bands were imitating bands that were imitating bands that were ... you get the idea. Wobbler was something very, very different. In keeping with the original progressive ethos, they took inspirations from a wide variety of sources. 60s and 70s rock, jazz, electronica and extreme metal, to name a few. They combined these influences with a deep and astute understanding of what it was that made the best 1970s progressive rock tick. The dramatic dynamics, the shadings of light and darkness, the warm, ghostly sonorities of arcane instruments like the Mellotron, the Mini-Moog or how about a theorbo or a recorder? And of course, the thunderous growl of the Rickenbacker bass guitar. The release of “Hinterland” in 2005 got the band a sizable international audience almost overnight, and many raving reviews praising the record's authentic sound and the complex yet beautiful songwriting. “Hinterland” was the start for one of the best progressive rock bands that emerged in the early 2000s, and is now finally available again on CD and vinyl.

Re-issue of second album from Wobbler - Afterglow! After the success of their debut “Hinterland” in 2005, the band stretched forward to show a truer picture of the band’s inner nature. Many fans were asking for the early demo they did in 2003, and these tracks were re-recorded with the full band for “Afterglow”. The strong influence of black metal can be heard both in the surprising power and aggression of some sections, as well as the structure and tonality of many of the riffs. Paradoxically, “Afterglow” was also a more dyed-in-the-wool proggy prog rock album, with its epic-length compositions and detours into renaissance and baroque music. “Afterglow” was also a well-received record, scratching the itch that fans had felt for those early demos, and cementing the band's position as a leading light among "retro" prog bands.

In Memory of Chris Broderick of the Singing Loins, who passed away earlier this year Damaged Goods proudly presents a vinyl reissue of this Medway folk classic!A re-issue of one of their favourite early releases and a rather overlooked classic album, a one off collaboration between Billy Childish and legendary Medway folkies The Singing Loins.This was recorded in 1993 when Billy was in Thee Headcoats and The Singing Loins were in their first incarnation. What an outstanding compilation of artists who played at the International Pop Underground Convention in 1991. You read the performers list; from Bratmobile, to Courtney Love, to Bikini Kill, to Nirvana, to 7 Year Bitch. This is a beautiful 'snapshot' of the best of the early 90's west coast, and perhaps more importantly and as the liner notes accurately put it, 'all of these bands have faith in the future of punk rock and they are, without question, punk rock.' Kill Rock Stars is an excellent 14-track various-artists collection capturing the essence of early-'90s indie-rock pop underground. It's divided equally between amateurish indie-pop, abrasive punk and riot grrrl, featuring many of the best underground bands of that time, including Bratmobile, Mecca Normal, Bikini Kill, Heavens to Betsy, Unwound, Nation of Ulysses, Some Velvet Sidewalk, Nirvana, and Lois performing under the name Courtney Love. If there was a single compliation of 'Grunge' this would be it. Between Bikini Kill, Infamous Menagere and Nirvana, you really get a sense of what was going on during the early 1990s. I don't think it is over the top to say that this is a slice of music revolution.

Limited edition double LP on clear colour vinylRemastered reissue of "We Are Urusei Yatsura" (originally released in 1996), with bonus vinyl of unreleased demos and B-sidesIn the days before "landfill" indie, and in rebellion against a developing Britpop orthodoxy, there were some weird but melodic bands coming of age outside London that drew inspiration from the US underground and the sparkly retro-futurism of Japan. Primitive guitar noise with art rock leanings, post punk DIY and fanzine culture. The best known of these bands was maybe Urusei Yatsura; "noisy stars", named in honour of Rumiko Takahashi, legendary manga creator. Back in 1996, after several increasingly well-received 7's, the band travelled to Leamington Spa to record their debut album with John Rivers, producer of Swell Maps and Glasgow scene godparents, The Pastels. The resulting album won the group legions of new fans and gained them their first Independent #1 chart placing, alongside peers Ash and Super Furry Animals.

Tortoise has spent nearly 30 years making music that defies description. While the Chicago-based instrumental quintet has nodded to dub, rock, jazz, electronica, and minimalism throughout its revered and influential discography, the resulting sounds have always been distinctly, even stubbornly, their own. There is a always the pervasive element of group play, or ensemble?mindedness, as opposed to emphasis on a virtuoso soloist or frontman, despite the fact Tortoise is composed of members who could each easily have taken center stage in another group. In their debut, Tortoise is composed of Douglas McCombs, John Herndon, Dan Bitney, John McEntire, and Bundy K. Brown. This self-titled, incorporates many musical styles and influences, but no one style alone is sufficient to fully describe the distinct sound they craft. This unique blending of styles caused them to be recognized as the leaders of a new musical movement. Tortoise utilize the recording studio, not only to put their music to wax, but in a way that their recording process becomes a compostional tool described at times as the "sixth member", thus creating a boundless parameter in which to create and manipulate music. Tortoise's self-titled debut was originally released in 1994. This re-issue is re-mastered by Roger Seibel at SAE Mastering, in jacket with art insert, both designed by Sam Prekop as well as a free download card. 2022 version is available on limited edition white with hi-melt black vinyl
