Revealed a few seasons ago thanks to the abrasive potential of their riffs, the French duo Bandit Bandit consisting of Maëva & Hugo imposes its musical genre, as well as an insolent ease to handle the French language, which one can hear in their amazing first album, 11:11.
In 2019 came the first show, the first music video, the first studio session. The name "Bandit Bandit" was born during a photo shoot with a friend, in a desert landscape, wearing scarves, boots and pistols. As for the repetition of Bandit, it is to better underline the duality of the project which, very quickly, found its own public, thanks to tracks as striking as "Maux", the first french-written one, and an imagination which incites the press to nickname them the Bonnie & Clyde of rock.
After two electrifying EPs, "Bandit Bandi"t and "Tachycardie", the duet needed to "explore further than the rock-genre itself" on a 11:11 produced by Azzedine Djelil (Rita Mitsouko, Catherine Ringer, Minuit, Lulu Van Trapp...). This first album mixes music genres, investigates pop music with all its amplitude, as a guiding thread between raw rock and the more sophisticated alternative style. Until now self-centered and cathartic, the texts of Bandit Bandit remain intimate on 11:11 while proving to be political, freed from prudishness, playing with words. Their unrestrained music resonates loudly throughout this album with a devouring desire as insatiable as contagious.

‘Western Mystery Tradition’ is the third studio album from Detroit, MI via Brooklyn, NY outfit Moonwalks and is due for release May 26th via Fuzz Club. A departure from the band’s DIY psych-rock roots to a more mature and polished sound, the album was produced by Mattiel’s Jonah Swilley and recorded in May 2019 at Detroit’s acclaimed (and rumored haunted) Masonic Temple with Bill Skibbe (Jack White, The Kills) in a lodge belonging to the Free Masons’ Detroit chapter. “Western Mystery Tradition was conceived in the winter of 2019 amidst a polar vortex in Detroit, Michigan”, Moonwalks recall of the record’s origins: “At the time and in between touring, we lived together in a house on the west side that lacked a working stove and had no power in half of the building. The band - trapped indoors due to temperatures in the negatives and massive amounts of snow - drew inspiration from our isolated state amidst a bleak Michigan winter.” Moonwalks consists of Kerrigan Pearce (drums), Jacob Dean (guitar), and Kate Gutwald (bass). Originating in Detroit's DIY scene, the trio started out playing in warehouses and makeshift venues across the city. Since then, they’ve gone on to tour extensively throughout North America and Europe supporting acts like The Murlocs, Metric, Julian Casablancas & The Voidz, Thee Oh Sees, The Liminanas, and The Mystery Lights to name a few.

French electronic post-punk/krautrock trio Veik recruit Sonic Boom and Vanishing Twin to reimagine tracks from their 2021 debut album, 'Surrounding Structures'. Both remixes have been pressed to wax by Fuzz Club, due out June 9 2023 on a heavy clear-blue 7" limited to 250 copies. On the A-side Sonic Boom (aka Pete Kember of Spacemen 3 and Spectrum) takes album-opener 'Difficult Machinery' and deconstructs it into a spaced-out, oscillating drone. Shifting gear on the B-side, 'Honesty (I Don't Wanna Know)' was already a piece of throbbing and discordant proto-punk and on this remix London psych-pop experimentalists Vanishing Town turn it into an even more abrasive and unpredictable beast. Now being revisted via these remixes, Veik's 'Surrounding Structures' album was rooted in avant-garde krautrock and 70s no wave and inspired by brutalist and modernist architecture. It came highly praised by the likes of Loud & Quiet, Line of Best Fit, Louder Than War, BBC 6 Music, Kexp, France24, France Inter and more.

As Wreckless Eric he needs little introduction - he wrote and recorded the classic Whole Wide World and had a hit with it back in 1977. Eric"s version featured in the 2022 Expedia / Superbowl / Ewan MacGregor travel ad, and the Cage The Elephant version is the new theme tune for the podcast Smartless. This new album, Leisureland, marks a return to his more ramshackle world of recording - guitars and temperamentally unpredictable analogue keyboards, beat-boxes and loops in conjunction with a real drummer, Sam Shepherd, who he met in a local coffee shop in Catskill, New York. He was delighted to find that Sam lived around the corner and could easily drop by to put drums on newly recorded tracks. The recording methodology may have been Contemporary American but the subject matter is almost entirely British. It also contains more instrumentals than any of his previous albums.

Factory Benelux presents a limited crystal clear vinyl edition of Dark Light, the eighth studio album from post-punk trailblazers Section 25, originally released in 2013.

Recorded in 2012, Dark Light would be the band’s first collection of new material since the tragic loss of founder Larry Cassidy in 2010, and marked a return to the smooth electro and synth-pop textures first explored on their seminal 1984 album From the Hip. These echoes are amplified by the presence of co-vocalists Beth and Jo Cassidy, as well as a sublime cover image by iconic artist/designer Peter Saville.

Much of Dark Light was produced in collaboration with remixer Derek Miller (aka Outernationale), and includes new versions of single tracks Colour Movement Sex & Violence and Inner Drive. Other stand-out cuts include future pop classic My Outrage, also released as a single on Record Store Day.

Brontez’s band includes the multifaceted talents of Vice Cooler (who also produced and mixed the album), Sean Teves (of Younger Lovers) on drums, Kevin Preston (Prima Donna, Green Day) on guitar, Aaron Minton (Prima Donna) on piano and saxophone, and Laena Myers-Ionita on violin. To much delight of all Feelies fans in the world, Wouldn't Waste Records presents the second Wake Ooloo album on classic black vinyl Wake Ooloo was less a Feelies spin-off band and more of a temporary sequel. In absence of original Feelies' drummer Million , singer/guitarist's Mercer's musical partnership with drummer Dave Weckerman, a sometimes-uncredited Feelies percussionist who joined the band officially in 1983, fully blossoms with Gambino at Wake Ooloo. Following the Feelies' increasingly polished efforts for A&M, Wake Ooloo continued in the Feelies' tradition of jangling guitars, atmospheric percussion, and a deep Velvet Underground streak, but took a far looser approach -- a direct result of the meticulous Million's absence. Released three years after the Feelies' Time for a Witness, Wake Ooloo's debut Hear No Evil felt similar in spirit to the anarchic joy of early Feelies live bootlegs, though the sound would grow tempered with the successive album What About It. While Mercer wrote the majority of the band's material, Weckerman and others contributed original songs, as well. For fans of the Feelies, Wake Ooloo are as worth exploring as the Trypes or Yung Wu or more, given that they were Mercer's primary outlet for three full albums in the 90s.

The sound of Búho Ermitaño is an evocation of the psychedelic sound of Peruvian Andean folk rock from the 70s.On his second album, Búho Ermitaño opens his sound towards the song format and the use of synthesizers.With references to kraut rock and the Andean folk of groups like El Polen, the sound of Búho Ermitaño is immersed in hypnotic instrumental explorations, melodic passages and in bursts of cosmic rock. Implosiones is a renovating sound synthesis that places the band as one of the new referents of psychedelic rock in Peru.Formed in Lima in 2008 by Franz Núñez (guitar) and Diego Pando (guitar), they began as a jam band. With the addition of Irving Fuentes (charango) and Leo Pando (synthesizers), the group's sound began to have its own colour, which found its final formation with the inclusion in 2014 of Ale Borea (percussion) and Juan Camba (drums). Since then, they have been an active band in the underground circuit of Lima, alternating with psychedelic rock bands and experimental music artists (several members of Búho Ermitaño play at the same time in various sound experimentation musical projects). It is with this formation that the group has recorded Implosiones, incorporating a wide range of instruments that includes guitars, bass, drums, synthesizers, theremin, electronic loops, bongos, flutes, djembes, charango, among others.All of this is reflected in songs like "Herbie" with a marked percussion base, or in "Explosiones", and their high-energy neopsychedelia, unlike their first album, the inclusion of vocals in song format is now present, opening up a new creative path. Limited Red Vinyl.On July 1, his birthday, Sufjan Stevens is releasing two alternate versions of his song, "Fourth of July." Both versions were recorded around 2014: "Fourth of July (April Base Version)" was recorded in Eau Claire, WI at Justin Vernon's April Base studio, and "Fourth of July (DUMBO Version)" was recorded in Sufjan's old studio in Brooklyn, NY. The original version of "Fourth of July" appeared on Sufjan's 2015 album, Carrie & Lowell. As is (and was) his custom, Sufjan would often rework different versions of his songs while recording an album, and "Fourth of July" was no exception. (Other versions & remixes of the song were released on "The Greatest Gift" mixtape and on the "Exploding Whale" 7" single.) These two latest versions were recently found on old harddrives. The refrain of the song, "We're all gonna die," invokes a meditation on human mortality and fragility, even as it acts as an anchor of stoic hope. Its solemnity invites listeners to feel comfort, connection _ even joy _ wrought from great pain and loss. The song has recently had a resurgence with listeners _ which may speak to a deep national grief and sense of loss.This 7-inch in red will ship in December 2022, which marks the 10-year anniversary of Carrie's death.

Sofie Herner (Enhet För Fri Musik, Neutral) returns with Neuter, the first proper album since the Gitarrmusik Iii-x LP released on Förlag För Fri Musik back in 2017. Neuter was recorded between 2018 and 2021 and is the culmination of a very distinctive and unmistakable sound Sofie has developed and refined during close to 10 years now. The music of Leda is based on primitive guitar loops of various lenghts, loops that intervenes and creates peculiar rhythms and subtle harmonies. Slow-burning proto-industrial basement buzz with occasional vocals buried in the mix. The connection to the sullen soundscapes of Neutral is of course there, but the skeletal, monotonous compositions and austere nature of things sets this apart widely. Years has passed and Neuter is ultimately more Malmö than Gothenburg. Hints has been thrown out on a handful of limited in-between releases on labels like Knotwilg and Kashual Plastik during the last few years, but Neuter is the pinnacle of Herner's body of solo work. If Islands' last record, (2021's Islomania) was a Saturday Night Fever dream, then the follow up-- 2023's And That's Why Dolphins Lost Their Legs--is the Sunday Morning comedown. Taking a giant leap forward, replete with addictive hooks at every turn, Dolphins (the 9th record in the catalogue), stands out as the strongest and most articulate Islands record yet. Nick Thorburn and crew manage to tap into both the pain and the joy of living, (sometimes within the very same breath), while musically stripping things down to their simplest element: a bouncing bassline, a snappy kick and snare, or a persistent, hooky guitar line. Though Dolphins is arguably their biggest musical departure (which is saying something, coming from a band that has constantly reinvented their sound from album to album), the DNA of Thorburn's first band The Unicorns can clearly be heard throughout songs like "Headlines", "Life's A Joke" and "And All You Can Do is Laugh". Shamir's art is a synthesis of the full spectrum of human emotion; sensual, furious, yearning, joyful and yet tethered together by a very distinct style (similarly to the greats such as Miss Nina Simone, Prince, and Taylor Swift). Shamir’s music is based almost entirely in a hyper-specific, fully autonomous, embodied expression of personhood. On his forthcoming album, Homo Anxietatem, Shamir takes the Latin translation of the title, “anxious man”, and transmutes his anxiety to pop songs. The creation process serves as a balm or elixir, converting internal anxieties to an 11-track sonic playground.
