Abramis Brama captured live in 2006 at its maximum intensity, and presented on vinyl for the first time with two unreleased songs from the same tour. The follow-up to Tales OF Belle, Part 1 – Across THE Ocean by the Mid-Norwegian six-piece band Adventure continues the unbelievable story of the poor Norwegian immigrant’s hunt for wealth. Part 1 finished with the suspicious death of her first husband and the move to LaPorte, Indiana. Tales OF Belle, Part 2 – Unveiled BY Fire features 10 tracks that were all written and recorded during various states of lockdown in Norway. The theme is now the mysterious death of her second husband, all the men seeking prosperity with the widowed Belle only to disappear, the horrendous fire on her farm, the gruesome findings in the grounds after the fire, the absurd theatre that took place after the news broke, the trial of the farmhand, and finally his confession. Nobody can tell for certain if Belle Gunness perished in the fire or not. There is no final confirmation… Adventure is still exploring the golden era of 70's symphonic hard rock, mixing in proggy and folky elements. The guitar and Hammond organ still the heart of Adventure’s sound, augmented by multipart harmony vocals and a rock steady rhythm section. Clive Nolan of Pendragon and Arena fame has a little cameo appearance. Cellist Marit Aspås from The Trondheim Soloists also appears on a couple of tracks.

Norwegian guitarist and composer Anders Buaas´ new album “The Edinburgh Suite” is set for release by Apollon Records on September 9th this year. The album features an all-star line-up with Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson etc.) on drums, Tony Franklin (ex-The Firm, ex-Whitesnake, Blue Murder) on bass, Christian M. Berg on mallets and percussion and Richard Garcia on keyboards. A two-part suite inspired by the history of the magnificent city of Edinburgh. Anders says: “Crack open your favourite bottle of single malt and join me on a sonic journey through the history and the streets of Edinburgh.”

“It was late 1999. I was living in Palm Desert with Dave Dinsmore. Dave had just left Unida and Alfredo Hernandez was in town and had just left Queens of the Stone Age. I had a rare bit of downtime from touring with Fu Manchu. The three of us started jamming at the house. I had just got over a bad relationship and songs were pouring out of me. Frank Kozik heard about us jamming and called me up and said he wanted to put out whatever we come up with. Within two weeks we were already recording on an 8 track reel to reel. I took the recording to brother Shneebie to mix in LA. He said the music is great but the recording is shit. He asked to re-record it. I asked when? He said now. We re recorded right there on the spot and finished everything in 2 days. We decided on the name CHE and called the record Sounds of Liberation. “ Artwork made by Maarten Donders.

Named after one of the basic rhythms of Cuban folk music and drawing on influences from across the globe, Cho Co Pa Co Cho Co Quin Quin are quite simply a world unto itself. Comprised of three childhood friends, Daido, Yuta and So, who reconnected during the coronavirus pandemic, Cho Co Pa initially emerged as a playful way for the three 23-year-olds to pass the time. Tapping into their youthful connection, they created a sound that exudes confidence and curiosity, a homage to the masterful world of YMO’s and Happy End’s Haruomi Hosono, rooted in the trio’s own idiosyncratic experience of the present. Recorded at home and promoted on hugely popular DIY TikTok videos, their debut album Tradition is a technicolour exercise in armchair travelling – a kind of lockdown exotica for the housebound whose nostalgic flights of fancy are laced with a sense of whimsical melancholy for the lost freedoms of youth. Referencing everything from Afro-Cuban percussion to lo-fi beats, Buddhist spirituality to trap, each member of the band brings different musical inspirations to the table. Latin American and Middle Eastern styles sit adjacent to a fascination for the electronic music of Aphex Twin, Dorian Concept, Underworld and Daft Punk. At times, the music verges on acid pop bliss, at others, it grooves with the instrumental funk sensibility of Badbadnotgood. “In the first place, when I create a song, my goal is to transport the listener to a mysterious place,” vocalist Daido explained in a recent magazine interview. Using lyrics as another sonic texture in the composition of ideas, Cho Co Pa paint beguiling sonic postcards of far-flung moods across 12 highly original tracks. Marrying the organic and the electronic on rhythmically sophisticated compositions like ‘Chichibu’ and ‘Watatsumi’, it is on the album’s standout track ‘Gandhara’ that the experimental sound of Cho Co Pa comes to the fore. Referencing the ancient city of Gandhara through which Buddhism made its way from India to China, the track is a vocoder-trap-inspired, Udu drum-driven pop jam that lilts with unmistakable Balearic flair. If that’s difficult to imagine, then know simply that ‘Gandhara’ sounds like nothing else on this side of Saturn. Even Daido seemed surprised by the outcome: “I feel like we were able to create something that exceeded our abilities. That was huge!” Hugely popular in Japan, with festival appearances lined up alongside Badbadnotgood at Asagiri Jam in October, it's safe to say the success of Tradition has taken Cho Co Pa by surprise. Released digitally in July 2023, Tradition will get a full international vinyl release in January 2024. You won’t have heard anything like it.

Italian library music obscure cult release Officially reissued for the first time ever Originally released in 1980 "Descriptive" completes the series of official reissues of the only two LPs released under the Corviria moniker by Edizioni Leonardi in 1977 (Psyco Analysis) and 1980 (Descriptive) respectively. Both are among the most obscure titles of Italian library music, whose composers can only be traced in the figures of Luigi Bergonzi and Vittoria Corona.

Musically, "Descriptive" marks an evolution of the electronic and dark sound of the previous "Psyco Analysis", starting with the fourpart opening minisuite "Evil's Suite", a genuine trip into kraut and progressive rock territories, then continuing with the abstract and mysterious "Suspence Effect One / Two" and finally with a series of more conventional and easylistening tracks that for the most part recall the sounds of Tangerine Dream from that period.

Just like "Psyco Analysis", the mysterious "Descriptive" now eventually enjoys a muchneeded and welldeserved reissue, the first one ever, faithful to the original, on the occasion of Record Store Day 2024!

Radio Heat is the sophomore album from Desiree Cannon and a step further into her world of constellations, waterways, and cosmic omens. While Cannon’s country influences and songwriting inspirations are interwoven throughout the album, Radio Heat stretches to include a multitude of musical styles, and is ultimately a soundtrack for the present day, looking towards a future where grief is shed and beauty abounds.

Beginning in 2011 as the nom-de-plume of Z. Cole Smith, musical provocateur and frontman of the atmospheric and autumnally-charged four-piece, Diiv created instant vibrations in the blog-world with their impressionistic debut single "Sometime." Diiv craft a sound that is at once familial and frost-bitten. Indebted to classic kraut, dreamy Creation-records psychedelia, and the primitive-crunch of late-80s Seattle, the band walk a divisive yet perfectly fused patch of classic-underground influence on their debut LP. To commemorate the 10th anniversary, this limited edition 2xLP combines the Oshin tracklist with the original Oshin demos recorded by Smith, and two live cuts recorded at storied Brooklyn DIY venue Shea Stadium - including the never before released "Yuk". The first three minutes of Dios' album speak louder than most bands in their entire career. 'No se' describes the Buenos Aires suburbs in a handful of precise and poetic phrases. The album unravels content like someone who empties a machine gun during 19 unclassifiable, urgent songs that 20 years later remain valid, or perhaps now make more sense than ever (for example, in the song 'Los Campesinos,' the group unites to shout 'the information, cause of everything, viruses seduce the blood'). Dios was the rare birth of Argentine rock of the '90s, a group that seemed to come from Mars because it did not fit into any international rock paradigm, much less local, but at the same time it was deeply and unmistakably Buenos Aires. With their original formation—bass and drums, without guitar, unpublished for the time, they invented a sound that descended from post-punk but instead of replicating it, they picked up the idea of experimentation + rawness and advanced on unknown territories based on obstinacy, minimalism, poetry, a lot of imagination and a lot of personality. Recorded in 1998 and released in 2001, the group broke up shortly after releasing it and the album slowly grew in the underground imaginary, with word of mouth, reaching new generations and secretly becoming a cult classic throughout Latin America. Released on the San Francisco / Buenos Aires label Calar Music.

As a result of the new digital era, DIY was now worldwide, and no band embraced this new frontier better than Have A Nice Life. Formed in 2000 by duo Dan Barrett and Tim Macuga, the Middletown, CT-based pair would, throughout the 00s, self-release and share a number of demos and home recordings via early social media channels as well as establish its in-house label Enemies List Home Recordings. These first steps set in motion Have A Nice Life’s rise to renown as an icon of underground music in the internet age, culminating with the release of its pivotal 2008 debut album, Deathconsciousness. Through word of mouth and online discussion, Deathconsciousness became subject to viral praise thanks to its synthesis of bleak post-punk, lo-fi shoegaze, and carpets of hypnotic drone music. Eventually, this humble self-released project would attain the status of a post-internet cult classic, amassing Have A Nice Life a fervent online following that the band would interact with in kind.

In an effort to thank and continue to engage with Have A Nice Life’s internet cult following, Barrett and Macuga would regularly share links to old demos, works in progress, and outtakes from the recording of Deathconsciousness. Over time, a group of fans would compile these demos into an unofficial release. Dubbed Voids, this fan-made compilation several alternate takes of tracks from Deathconsciousness, as well as a handful of early versions of songs that would appear on Have A Nice Life’s two following albums, The Unnatural World and Sea Of Worry. Fans swarmed around this compilation, accompanied by loud calls for it to receive a physical release. A tape pressing of Voids would be released via Music Ruins Lives, a DIY label run by Have A Nice Life superfan Thom Wasluck, also known for his band Planning for Burial. Between both instances of the tape swiftly selling out and the compilation’s long absence from streaming services, Voids has historically been an elusive release to track down, only available in the obscurest corners of the internet or physically on the secondary market at eye-wateringly high prices.

Ordalias marks the first solo album by Ian Mason, lead singer of the well-known Basque Country heavy doom rock act The Wizards. Within this precious edition shaped in a double LP work, we can find thirteen selections of dark and psychedelic folk in the way of bands like Wovenhand, Swans, or Death In June with lyrics involving matters such as spirituality, Christian mysticism and the symbolist poetry of authors like Yeats, Blake, Goethe or Novalis. Ordalias regards as a magical vessel to connect with Ian Mason's unique cosmovision, this collection of songs, had been conjured from the depths of the subconscious world by a sort of meditation sessions and magical operations along the period of five years, in which as a result, the musician has found the visions and ecstatic images that became the songs which conforms Ordalias in its entirely (sic).
