There are few people across the globe, who will have not been touched by the work of Frankie Knuckles. Forever regarded as ‘The Godfather of House’ for his unrivalled contribution to the house music we know today; what started as an underground movement in Chicago has grown to international heights thanks to Frankie. His records earned him recognition on a global scale, allowing him to work with some of the globes biggest names including the likes of Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. Five years ago, Frankie passed away in Chicago on 31st March 2014 leaving behind one of the greatest house music legacies spanning almost four decades. Now he is commemorated by long time writing and production partner Eric Kupper. Eric, himself a seasoned DJ producer and writer, has worked on over 116 Billboard #1 Dance Records and played a pivotal role in a many of Frankie’s productions. Having both worked together for many years they established themselves at ‘Director’s Cut’ from 2011 and set about producing original releases and remixes based on the classic ‘Def Mix’ sound while sharing equal credits for their creations. Together they re-produced and re-purpose classic cuts for modern dancefloors, with reworks including tracks from Marshall Jefferson, Ashford & Simpson, Artful & Ridney and The Sunburst Band, alongside Frankie Knuckles originals. These releases have now been brought together by Eric to feature on special album called ‘The Directors Cut Collection’ on SoSure Music. It includes the Director’s Cut reworks of Frankie’s classic cuts such as ‘Your Love’ and ‘Take You There’ with Jamie Principle, alongside Frankie’s first #1 single - ‘The Whistle Song’ on which Eric shares writing credits. Within a multitude of classic reworks, highlights include a previously unreleased version of Ashford & Simpson’s ‘Bourgie Bourgie’ and a huge Director’s Cut Retro Signature mix of Marshall Jefferson’s 'The House Music Anthem (Move Your Body)' featuring Curtis McClain. The Director’s Cut Collection is a fitting tribute to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Frankie’s passing whilst giving Eric a platform to tell his side of the creative story. Photonz is the alias of Marco Rodrigues a DJ, producer and driving force of Lisbon's underground scene. For little over a decade now, he's been crafting his own deeply personal style of Portuguese house and techno. As a DJ, Photonz grew a reputation for deep crates and intensely euphoric sets and in 2017, together with Violet (co-founder at his Radio Quantica) and Lisbon's own Rabbit Hole collective, he started the now infamous Mina parties - a monthly, sex-positive, queer and intersectional-feminist techno party aimed at using the dissociative potential of intense raving to create a temporary space of suspension away from patriarchal expectations.

'Nuit' is Photonz’s debut album and a simultaneous reference the Egyptian Goddess of the Stars or Night. Marco was really swept away by the concept of ‘freedom of form under the night sky’, the accepting embrace of Nuit. Ancestral, but also socially advanced and utopian; a deification of the night time. These ideas manifest themselves as eleven songs spread across two LPs that wax and wane like the moon. Photonz channels early techno, Drexciyan rhythms, balearic & atmospheric house; layering sounds, creating moments. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a royal blue and neon yellow jacket with duality/birth symbolism and trance-hieroglyphs designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a glow-in-the-dark sticker and a postcard with notes.

Fabio & Grooverider have been at the forefront of UK dance music for over 3 decades. This is the roots of their story told through music. RAGE could arguably be the ground zero of Jungle. The party was started at London's cavernous Heaven club by Fabio & Grooverider in 1988, at the height of Acid House fever that was making it's way up and down the motorways, slip-roads, fields and warehouses of the M25 and further beyond every weekend, troubling the nation, the police, your parents and the press as it went. RAGE was a different beast, it certainly channelled some of that Acid energy but pitted it against the new and exciting sounds emanating from Belgium, Amsterdam, Detroit, Sheffield, Essex and Hackney and in turn created a new style, a new sonic attitude and energy in the process. Rumbling bass-lines, narcotic synth rushes and roughly chopped and sped-up breakbeats all merged into a style that we now know as Jungle. Stunning new album from Chicago’s finest electronic futurist Hieroglyphic Being, aka Jamal Moss, newly released on Soul Jazz Records. This is his third album for the label, following on from The Acid Documents (2015), and African With Mainframes (w/ Noleian Reusse) K.M.T. (2016).
Born and based in Chicago, Moss’s music embodies two of the cultural foundation blocks of the city’s musical lineage; that of Chicago’s original Acid House sound (c. 1986) - Frankie Knuckles, Phuture, Marshall Jefferson et al, alongside a rigorous experimental sound searching that taps into the cosmic musical lineage of pioneering artist Sun Ra whose Arkestra landed and was based in the city from 1946-61, and the equally pioneering work of The Art Ensemble of Chicago in the 1960s and 70s.
The association with Sun Ra is by no means hypothetical, Moss recorded with the Arkestra leader Marshall Allen and a host of free jazz players for the album Hieroglyphic Being & JITU Ahn-Sahm-Buhl’s ‘We Are Not The First.’ (2015). Similarly, his relationship to Chicago’s original acid house pioneers of the late 1980s is no hyperbole. Originally mentored by artist/producers Adonis and Steve Pointdexter, Moss also runs his own Mathematics label, releasing a constant stream of new music by foundation acid house pioneers Lil’ Louis, Adonis and many others.
What clearly defines Moss’s music is that while sometimes pushing the limits of sound to an ear-splitting dimension of experimentation and DIY-electronics – the music is always clearly a progression of the lineage of black music. In the words of fellow Chicagoans, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, it is simply ‘Great Black Music.’ And yet in this uniquely defined sound, Moss somehow manages to draw into this world elements of industrial music, German electronic music (Cluster, Harmonia etc), Detroit’s sci-fi techno artists (Atkins, Saunderson, Craig) and more.
‘Outsider House’ ‘Afro-Futurist’ ‘Rhythmic Cubism’, Moss’s near indescribable sound plays testament to the notion that he is perhaps the last of the line of producers directly influenced by Ron Hardy at the Music Box, uniquely qualified to write a new chapter of Chicago’s rich musical history.
Red Notes is the prolific artists new revelatory and unique project – in his own words ‘A homage to the Blue Note Jazz sound of Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock’ fused together with the classic Chicago House and Acid sensibilities of Larry Heard, Armando, Adonis et al, into a newly imagined futuristic and barrier-less musical landscape. Featuring organic and synthetic electronic instrumentation, Hieroglyphic Being here fuses real-time live instrumentation and over-dubbed technologies to dramatic effect, as analog and electronic worlds collide.

These tracks have been written over a twenty year period and involve 6 people but it sounds like it was written in one sitting. This is testament to David’s creative aesthetic and the closeness of the relationship with his collaborators as a common feeling of warmth and smudged soul oozes out of every poor of this record.

While the influence of dream house continues to echo through the ages, the style was at its peak between 1989 and ’94, when producers across Italy delivered a high volume of loved-up, wavy and occasionally blissful productions that fused contemporary deep house tropes – most notably from Chicago, New York and New Jersey – with elements borrowed from ambient, jazz and Balearica.
It’s this six-year period that provides the focus for Welcome To Paradise Volume 3, which draws together a spine-tingling mixture of sought-after classics, unheralded gems and little-known delights from the original Italian dream house movement.
Thrillingly, Welcome to Paradise Volume 3 co-curator Young Marco has managed to source two previously unreleased tracks during the dream house period: the gently unfurling, sunrise-friendly bliss of Jacy’s “Resounding Seashell” and a special “Longer Edit” of Neurostate’s brilliant “Dance To The House”, a track that – somewhat surprisingly – has never previously been issued on vinyl before.
Elsewhere, there are plenty of treats to set the pulse racing, from the must-have deep house brilliance of Leo Anibaldi’s “Universe” – a rare foray into dream house territory from the Italian techno pioneer – and the Afro-bleep-goes-dream-house trip of Golem’s “Sun City”, to the cowbell-driven, New Jersey garage-influenced warmth of Deep Choice’s “Children Trip” and Cosmic Galaxy’s “Walkin’ On The Moon”, a Detroit techno-influenced outing with a deliciously saucer-eyed, extended ambient intro. You’ll also struggle to find a more inspired house record than Green Baize’s “Tramp Heart”, which mixes familiar dream house elements with spacey electronics and tribal chants that recall Italy’s early ‘80s Afro-cosmic scene.
It all adds up to another essential selection of rich, glassy-eyed dream house treats tailor-made for sound-tracking drawn-out Adriatic sunsets, Mediterranean sunrises and loved-up parties the world over.

originally it’s released on only cd in 2007. it was his 2nd album but it’s substantially his first album because the first album was a col-lection of kuniyuki’s early productions.

the first track “the guitar song” is one of our most favorite song of kuniyuki,it’s like a real good mixture of jazz, fusion, world music and electronic music.

the second track featuring african vocalist and percussionist “omar guaindefall”,we still love amazing henrik schwarz remix.

the third track “you get me” featuring our favorite singer “josee hurlock”,we’ve knew about her from the fantastic album “residue” by hefner in 2000. she is featured to the fourth track “all these things” too. we’re hoping to repress an amazing joe claussell remix.

the fifth track “flying music” featuring our good friend “alex from tokyo” as poetry reading and shuichiro sakaguchi( a popular trumpeter in tokyo) as a trumpeter. this long version was put to single cut release on 12inch.

the sixth track “the session” is a collaboration of song with henrik schwarz. they have met at mule musiq’s party in tokyo and clicked immediately.

the seventh track “touch” sounds very nostalgic african jazz or spanish fusion which is popular these days as balearic music.

the last track “rain of ocean” is a primitive african minimal deep house.this song is put to the single cut from this album(not put to the album) and we almost forgot this song but when we’re compiling the vinyl edition of album, we noticed how this song is beautiful.

When Peggy Gou released her debut EP ‘Art of War’ in
2016, she made a list of career goals. One of them was to
become the first South Korean DJ to play Berlin’s techno
institution Berghain, an objective she achieved only a few
months later. Another item on that list was to record an
instalment of !K7’s DJ-Kicks series. “It’s the premier
class of DJ mixes,” she says. “Some of my favourite
selectors have contributed to it.” Now Peggy Gou can
tick that off her list too as she proudly presents the 69th
edition of the mix series.
The Berliner-by-choice started working on the mix last year. It was a
busy time for the 28-year-old: she’d just scored her first Mixmag cover
and her single ‘It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)’ was receiving awards
and critical acclaim. Each month she would DJ in 20 nightclubs all over
the world. And yet, the goal for her mix was ambitious: instead of trying
to capture the energy of her DJ sets, she aimed to create a portrayal of
her own musical journey. An 18-track listening session that takes you
straight into Peggy Gou’s living room where she plays you the formative
tunes from her collection. No genre boundaries – she moves across
disco, house, techno and electro. No tempo limits – the mix ranges from

Melding irresistible vintage synths with a meditative groove, Aquarium Nightclub is a journey of sorts. Taking listeners on a tropical tour through 80s house drums, lush synth landscapes, and deep bass melodies, the thirteen-track LP is as adventurous as it is restrained.
Growing up in a small town a few hours from California’s East Bay area, Space Ghost (Sudi Wachspress) moved to Oakland ten years ago to study at the California College of the Arts. In a city known for its vibrant cultural fabric and its experimental music scene, Space Ghost represents a new generation of young artists. His DJ collective Late Feelings, launched in 2013, has allowed him to find his own groove amongst monthly all-vinyl dance parties, where he plucks influences from various corners of the world.
More complex than last year’s release, Aquarium Nightclub shows off Space Ghost’s artistic hunger and unique sonic signature.
Kicking off with “Sea Snake Island,” a track that is best described as late 80s house melancholia is a beautiful dance of shimmering keys, drum machines, and sounds of the jungle. The single “Sim City” ft. Morgan is a classic Chicago house beast; dark but uplifting with heavy bass undertones, fuzzy drum pulse, and plenty of mysterious synth melodies. Other tracks like “Ocean Odyssey,” “Night Dive” and “Aquarium Nightclub” plunge into an ambient world of slow 80s funk, though always rooted in the Bay Area sound.
A product of record-collecting and dance party hosting, Aquarium Nightclub is a glittering postcard from Atlantis. Profound yet undeniably groovy, its mesmerizing tropical undertones promise a safe journey back to the endless days of summer.

Yet Nicola doesn’t neglect the sounds of his home continent, something instantly apparent on album opener ‘Arka’, the Colombian cumbia rhythms of ‘Hacia Delante’ and the poetic ‘Criançada’, sung in Portuguese and owing much to the melodies and rhythms of Brazilian samba. All of Nicola’s work is approached with a high level of experimentation and sound design and what is apparent through-out is his ability to move you – whether your mind and soul, with mystical, ethereal songs, or your body, with tracks that wouldn’t be out of place spilling out of club speakers in the early hours of the morning. Founded in 2010 by German DJ and producer Marcel
Vogel, the ‘Lumberjacks in Hell’ label has won fans
over the world thanks to its deeply rooted, timeless

the imprint has seen legends such as Rahaan,

Convinced he had to contribute something unique to
DJ culture, Marcel Vogel began “chopping up soulful

Hell’, initially as a conduit for his own edits and
productions. Soon he found himself releasing
original tracks from his musical heroes and bringing
the ‘Lumberjacks’ sound to clubs and festivals all
over the globe.
This compilation captures the vibe and vision of
‘Lumberjacks In Hell’, a project which, after only 8
years, has gained a seat at the top table of House
music; revered by weathered veterans and freshfaced
young guns alike.

Also renowned for her high-energy performances as a DJ, the past 12 months have seen Jayda play London’s formidable Printworks venue alongside the likes of Marcellus Pittman, Moodymann and Omar-S; be invited by The Black Madonna to play at her Warehouse Project takeover; and perform at festivals like Field Day, Kala, Melt!, AVA and the xx’s Night And Day.

Growing up some 6 hours outside Vancouver surrounded by an abundance of nature sparked an early interest in biology and the natural world, a passion that has endured and intensified to this day and is inextricably intertwined with her musical output. In 2018 she completed her Masters in Resource and Environmental Management specialising in environmental toxicology, wherein she investigated the effects of human activity on the Salish Sea killer whales (orcas) of Vancouver, in her native British Columbia. It was also the year that she finished recording her debut album as Jayda G: “Significant Changes”

Back in the early 1990s house music was having perhaps its most fertile and creative period. The original house from Chicago had blown up back in the ‘80s and left nothing short of a cultural revolution in its wake, with regional variants springing up all over the US, the UK and Europe.
London in particular was a global hub for house music, with a whole slew of clubs and a long established underground scene that had taken house to its heart. A key mover-and- shaker was a young Jeremy Newall, who worked successively at a whole bunch of record stores including Catch-A-Groove, where the likes of Tony Humphries would come and hang out when in town (Humphries used to record his shows at a flat above the shop with a wide-eyed Jeremy soaking in the vibes), and latterly Release The Groove, where he could be found well into the twenty-first century. A close association with Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson saw him repping for the big fella when Trouble was unable to do his Kiss FM radio show, and as the resident alongside him at Trouble’s much loved Loft Sessions in Camden. He also played on many pirates, at all the best parties in London, Europe and beyond. Jeremy’s position as the go-to guy behind the capital’s hippest record store counters saw many visiting US jocks passing him records that barely saw the light of day in a scene where superb new tunes were coming thick and fast. Therein lie the roots of this compilation … a collection of overlooked, unreleased, and just hard-to-find gems to put alongside some of the better-known and overplayed classics of the era.

"I use music as a medium to talk to other people", Sun Ra once revealed. The Düsseldorfer Stefan Schwander would agree with this statement by the avant-garde jazz great, though he would not necessarily sign his name to it. He also speaks to people through music. Yet he also likes to let music talk to music. Since 2008, as Harmonious Thelonious, on numerous EPs and two albums, he blends the reduced patterns and structures of American minimalist music with African, Latin American and Caribbean rhythms.

For his new work "Santos", which he sees as an LP with a unified concept, he embarked on a mental journey to the north of the African continent and became entranced by Moroccan trance music. The resulting pieces are light, with traces of pop, interweaving the atmospheres of the Master Musicians Of Joujouka and Gnawa music with the driving force of techno. This time Schwander invited a handful of guest musicians to serve as sound sources. The Berliner Ghazi Barakat, former bass player of Stereo Total and man behind the psychedelic experimental project Pharoah Chromium, contributed modified sounds from his Moroccan flute. A second guest musician is the Cologne-based composer Volker Zander, who has long played double bass and electric bass with Calexico. For songs like "Mountains" or "Belloumi" he played a melody on the Turkish Tambur, lending an oriental flair to the vital rhythms of the tracks. The intricate rhythmic patterns also incorporate instruments such as banjo, mandolin and Afro-Cuban drums, played by the percussionist Stefan Suhr, who studied Afro-Cuban ritual drumming in Cuba. Schwander's electronic sequencing blurs these organic sources and brings them into a fluid dialogue with his electronic ideas. For a piece like "Rendez-vous of the Dead", for example, Harmonious Thelonious projected himself out of the studio onto the Djemaa el Fna square in Marrakech. Here, every evening after sunset, local musicians meet and play themselves into a frenzy on distorted mandolins. Harmonious Thelonious translates this dream into a quaking dance monster whose home might be a techno club with an experimental sonic approach. Of course, most of the pieces of "Santos" are heavily danceable, although this time Harmonious Thelonious' tracks roll a little slower than previously. Their rugged beauty has also given way to a very smooth sound. His music, however, has lost none of its complexity. The many voices speak together, propelling each other toward something that traverses traditional genre boundaries, creating a playful trance.

The cover of "Santos" underscores this: It is a collage designed by the artist himself, depicting his notion of an all-star band. Everyone must decipher for themselves exactly who is to be found there. Here, once again, the pictures are not direct portrayals, but veiled references to an emotional state hidden far beyond the visual realm. Just like the music of Thelonious Harmonious, which uses various layers tell countless stories.

All the tracks were made in about 6 months in our new Ilian Tape Space Studio in Munich. The time felt right to focus on this adventure, but without any pressure. Therefore the process became very natural and we felt free to go wherever the vibe led us. Our intention was to create a very personal and honest sound without any limitations or guidelines. It’s a reflection of all the years we’ve been growing up, working, traveling and playing together and it means a lot to us. Along with the engineering treatment from "Chicago's very own" (C.V.O.) deep house legend, Glenn Underground, "Equanimity" takes on a new foundational sound and assembly that inspires some philosophical thoughts below: Katastematic Pleasure is the epicurean philosophical concept that the magnitude of pleasure reaches its limit at the removal of all pain. In a sonic sense, this connects to the idea of subtractive equalization or the removal of unpleasant frequencies i.e. taking away the part of the sound you don't enjoy as much, in turn, leaving the pleasurable parts of the sound intact. Katestematic pleasure is about creating cleanliness and clarity in your life so that your experience is pleasurable by simply the virtue of being. Solar/Lunar Duality: The Vinyl EP is divided into two planetary bodies. Side A i The "Solar Side" and Side B i "The Lunar" Side. The Sun's energy is one that is everlasting as long as its shining all that receives its rays will continue its growth and abundance. The Moon represents the nature of receptivity the feminine principle which captures the light energy of the sun and reflects it back and governs our physical natural cycles and tides of the waters both internally and externally. The cycles of the moon when we decide to to be attentive to its influence we start to know when to retreat when to rest , when to repair our selves and intuitively when to bloom express our vivaciousness and attract things to ourselves.

Thirteen years after Quarion released the instant classic "Karasu" on Drumpoet, he returns to the label with yet another remarkable debut. His first album "Shades" takes you on an emotional journey to the deeper realms of House Music encompassed by elements of Detroit Techno, Dub and Electronica. All of the nine tracks fully display Quarion's unmistakable musicality and state-of-the-art production skills and are, undoubtedly, the artist's most accomplished work to date.

Ever since starting to produce as Quarion back in 2006, Yanneck Salvo has enjoyed an exciting career with stellar releases on Retreat, Innervisions, Tamed Musiq and certainly Drumpoet. 2016 proved to be a turning point artistically as well as personally, which eventually triggered an outburst of inspiration consolidating in the core of "Shades". After two years spent on refining this music, Yanneck felt that the bond between the tracks was too strong to be split across various EPs and chose instead to elaborate his vision as a full-scale album.

The nine pieces that make up "Shades" are quintessential Quarion, yet their scope is both broader and more precise than on previous releases by the Swiss producer. The beautiful melancholy of "Indigo (Aries)", the rich layers of "Periwinkle" or the panoramic journey of "Cobalt (Plains)" are testimonial to the new depth in the music of the Berlin-based artist.
In addition, the album has highly benefitted from a more experimental writing process, showcased in the bass-heavy ambient piece "Teal" or the sliding pads of "Ultramarine". This passion for unrestrictive creativity is clearly at the heart of "Azure (Ãmotion)", a thrilling collaboration with Ripperton where both artists twist life out of a modular system.
Finally there are tracks as intense as the Acid workout "Sapphire (Tessellate)" and the techno-influenced "Cerulean". Their electric tension easily creates a watershed moment on the dance floor that lingers long after the night is gone.

An imperceptible thread lays within the album's tracks. It molds "Shades" into an outstanding album by an artist on top of his game, highlighting Quarion's ever-growing talent for producing music of the deeper kind.

In October of 2017 Boy Harsher released the four-track EP, Country Girl. The EP
was released by Ascetic House as a one time vinyl pressing of 600 copies, which
sold out in a month. This new deluxe reissue titled Country Girl Uncut, includes four
previously unreleased tracks, for a total of eight songs. Country Girl marked a distinct
sonic shift with the band, as the EP was the first group of songs written in their new
home in rural Massachusetts. The novel isolation of the Northeast gave Jae and
Augustus plenty of time to write and explore new sounds, while reminiscing about
their time in the south. The move also put the band within driving distance of New
York City which was another important factor in their progression. The band
attributes partial influence on Country Girl EP to their frequent shows in Manhattan
and Brooklyn. Playing parties like Nothing Changes and Lost Enterprises gave them
access to a vibrant new music community. From industrial to noise table techno, the
band was enamored by the raw sound and fearless attitude of the artists and
crowds alike. The sound of Country Girl is defined by these two worlds that the band
existed within - their quiet, modest life in small town Massachusetts and their speedfueled

The label say "Stylistic, enigmatic, and effortless. Stump Valley’s Dekmantel debut EP is a smooth melange of glossy soul, jazz, and serene house. Berlin based vocalist and Max Graef collaborator Wayne Snow collaborates on vocal opener 'Natural Race', creating a slow groove, and funk-driven tempo. The music then veers into equatorial territory, as the duos' uses of classic 707 and LinnDrum sounds evoke a sense of sunset grooves; the sound of Theo Parrish slowly winding through an Adriatic cocktail party. Further on and 'Proletarians In Space' reflects the producers' more Detroit-like influences, with oscillating machine music. After the success of the 2 Late 4 Love EP, Roy Of The Ravers returns to Emotional Response with a double LP with a deeper perspective, experimenting in ambient and drone textures, lucid techno travails and acid interludes. Recorded between 1997 and 2017, the album was pieced together over the last six months after Roy's archives were first feared lost and then found. Approached by the label to release a follow up with something more introspective and personal, it was discovered that a recent move to a new studio had led to over 20 years of music being misplaced after it was believed they were mistakenly dropped at a local charity store. However, deep in a box of what were thought to be patch cables were in fact the decades worth of hard drives and here presented, is a sample of those lost recordings. The nature of the music is introspection, eschewing the acid beats and white noise for a personal encounter between man and machine. The orchestral opening of the title track gives way to the submarine beats, pulsing TB303 and gliding hats of Robinson College 10 to set the outlook to come. Even with the scattering A Dim And Distant Past waking lulled senses, the melodies and feel all lead to a pause and reflect rather than jump and shout. This is continued with the haunting drives of Bounce Erec and Oriental X0X-Press; the twisted, warped jams of The Weber Traum Boat Pt.3, Ichi and Roland Corp Labs 05; and the beautiful, heartfelt odes in Sade Lost Theme, The Clock House Pt.2 and closer, Nemesis '01. The album's melodic nature hums and shines as CS (6x8) appears as much a centre piece as a alternative consideration to the acid tinged, club bangs of Roy's releases to date. A surprise package maybe, but in the rolling, word of mouth phenomena that was Emotinium II, all this and more was sensed and so White Sunrise Music II, spreading across 12 songs of contrasting moods, is a further affirmation that there is something good and worthy of exploration.

Sparked by her own archive of field recordings, and produced primarily but not exclusively in the box, Face To Phase adds several facets to rRoxymore's already wide repertoire. The pensive and beatless opener "Home Is Where The Music Is" was inspired by her longtime friend Planningtorock, while "Forward Flamingo" is a spiraling dream-state of house music dissociation; elsewhere "Energy Points" remains anchored to the ocean floor, radiating heavy dub waves, "Passages" is a ghoulish skeleton of UK break beats, "What's The Plan" closes the album in a blissfully blunted fashion, while twisting, shape-shifting rhythms push and pulse "PPS21" into series of ever-evolving shapes and forms.
Through and in between the eight songs of Face To Phase, rRoxymore fortifies her status as a seasoned artist, grounded by over a decade of live performance and touring, collaboration, composition and experimentation. Sandile Bhengu comes from Durban, South Africa, where he in the middle of the 90’s released his debut kwaito album Amajovi Jovi under the moniker Sandy B. During the following decades he would move actively within the local music scene and touch a variety of genres including afro-pop, deep house, R’n’B and Soul.
In the mid 2010’s around 20 years since its release crate diggers and DJ’s across Europe and North America started dropping tracks from Amajovi Jovi. In late 2017 the album was reissued on Canadian label, Invisible City Editions giving a new lease of life to a forgotten classic and giving this once little known artist an international reputation.
Following the successful re-issue of the 1995-album Sandy B returns to the forefront of music with original material 24 years later in the form of Qhum Qhaks.
Qhum Qhaks comes from a close collaboration between Sandy and Danish DJ and collector Simon Lundsgaard a.k.a Simone Ahà. All songs were recorded in Sandy’s home studio to stick close to the ethics and production techniques of the 1995 classic. The material that emerged from this experimental process between the two of them captures the spirit of old school kwaito from the 90’s.
Vumbuka Records was founded by Sandile Bhengu & Simon Lundsgaard in 2019 especially for the release of Qhum Qhaks. The vinyl release of Qhum Qhaks contains seven original tracks and a download code with three extra bonus tracks.

The Main Mix has not seen a re-release since the original record, but its twisted synth chords and funky bass have not aged a second. The Original Mix is a darker, more minimal affair, allowing GREGORY's vocals to take center stage. The TEFLON DUB introduces additional percussion for those late-night deep moments. The Bonus Beats, as the name suggests, deliver precisely what's promised.

Released by pioneering funk and electronic taste-makers Dorado Records and combining classic funk's raw, mind-bending basslines, peak-era disco's euphoric vocals and early hip-hop's observational lyricism, the album and its follow up, "Make Em Like It" topped charts around the world.Fast forward to 2019 and following 2015's reunion with Dorado and the success of "Funk Ain't Ova", the band are set to release "Stay Good", a fun, funky and fresh collection of tracks featuring throughout are the powerful and soulful vocals of Alison Limerick, now a full time member of the band.
