Golden Gate Club Records presents the second "Golden Gate Quartett VA“. Four different acts and a diverse collection of tracks from Minimal, Deep Tech to Acid House. One of them, is Mothership, a collective, with Jakob Seidensticker, Boronas and Snad, presenting their Track „Buy or Die“. A very interesting peace of music of spacy and drifty sounds, driven by jazzy rhythmic elements and a dubby soundscape. The Belgium producer and DJ Jerome.c, delivers a rather dry and minimalistic track with his origin attribute of a dominant beat, pushing you back and forth, wrapping you in a hypnotic loop and making you shake in trance. A second collective on this compilation is Rozin & Kahru. Rozin, better know as the experienced producer Tyler Brunton met Kahru, a young DJ and producer from Liverpool at the Golden Gate Club in Berlin. Both became residents at the club and realized their common music taste, leading them to studio sessions and resulting in some great productions. An outstanding track is given us by Tim Etzel, a rising young talent from Mannheim. With his track „Acid Feelings“, he is showing a fresh, joyful and contemporary interpretation of Acid, that makes smily just going wild.

The Blue Hour” is the second VA of Berlin-based Thisbe Recordings, following “Black Ink” released in 2022. Curated by label owner Pyrame, The new compilation is an invitation to cruise through the blue hour, that unique time of the day from dusk to night. During that special time lapse, as the sky goes through several shades of blue, so goes the record: Dominik Marz´s “Bura´s Hymn” brings us straight above the Earth´s surface with a track as atmospheric as it can get, before Radial Gaze & Balam´s collab tune “Foreclosed” sets the scene for a groovy dance above the clouds. We have already lost sight of the ground when World Wild Web initiates an immersion into an enigmatic phase of the voyage with his track “Extase”, where we do not really know in which time-space we find ourselves any more. Teddy Douglas presents Monday Night Studio Sessions Live @ Rockwell is a unique recording from a legendary event that is all about putting the focus on house music's finest artists. Monday Night Studio Sessions @ Rockwell is the brainchild of the imitable house impresario Teddy Douglas and his partner DJ Tanz. The night started in 2017 and ever since has showcased true artistic talent in a perfect setting with the legendary likes of Byron Stingly, Lalah Hathaway, Jasper St Company and Josh Milan, just a few of the animus who have played in the past. This session was live on the Monday and then recorded in Teddy's studio the night after with Davon McCoy on percussion, Charles Dockins on keyboards and the maestro DJ Tanz and Teddy Douglas conducting the show. Standout tracks on this essential collection include the 'I'm Blessed' Remix by Richard Burton with its driving gospel handclaps and Charles Dockin's magical live piano over the top. 'Spanish Joint' is a chunky dance floor party record that builds and builds with mesmerizing and hypnotic Spanish guitar played by Skip and the Whole Nine Yards. It is the Monday night theme song and gets played twice a night. 'You Can Do It' by Barbara Tucker, Zhana, and Teddy Douglas was the first single from the LP last year and epitomizes the musical house grooves you can expect at one of these sessions. Rochelle Fleming's 'Nobody's Fool' and 'Get Lifted' by Andrea Holdclaw were two strong singles before the pandemic, and 'We Belong Together' from the voice of house, Mr Bryon Stingily, and Teddy Douglas is the 100th release on the label, and it has a catchy hook that adds to the legacy of Byron Stingly classics. 'Rise (instrumental)' from Teddy Douglas is an absolute crowd favourite with powerful grinding organs that wail and moan with intensity throughout the tune. 'Gotta Get Away' is DJ Tanz's first production and an absolute killer with a techy 80's edge design to get the floor pumping. Add in the live and off-the-cuff happenings of Navasha Daya scatting to the crowd over 'Supernova Spinning' and percussionist Davon McCoy and saxophonist Brandon Moultrie having a jam session - you have a magical session captured in all its glory. The sublime collection is a real labour of love that features superbly talented artists at the top of their game.

Acid lovers unite! Techno House Connoisseurs release their 2nd record with 5 tracks that blanket the acid genre offering something for everyone. Acid extraordinaire Acidulant kicks things off with a jacking, stompy monster meant for the warehouse with 808 beats and a crispy 303 throughout.

Jon Lee of Tilted records in Seattle is next up and his production shines with a moody, tech house gem that is sure to get the floor heated with it's warpy and bleeping layers on top of rubbery acid lines. A real treat!

Canada's Jay Tripwire shows why he is at the forefront of the production game with his acid ripper Kneel to Zod. This track oohs and aahs with it's heavy percussive rhythms and psychedelic leanings. A brilliant 303 wobbles throughout the 8 minute workout with dreamy synths and a wicked breakdown. More dance floor magic from Mr. Tripwire.

Label CEO Dave Zam AKA Space Ace revisits his 2019 Acid Odyssey release and reworks the original into a bass heavy punisher. Adding on more percussion and layers of 303 with dramatic deep synths it promises a glimpse of what the label seeks to achieve.

Lastly, LA's Praus brings another cosmic diamond to THC records with Luigi's Illusion. Praus continues to impress with lush layers of atmosphere and rich percussive elements followed by a whopper of a baseline with wiggling acid all throughout. Buckle up.

This first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. There’s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. The first track is by Bleaker who put out a 12” on Unknown To The Unknown last year, the second by Miz aka Big Miz who’s been putting out music on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, the third by The Burrell Connection who has a release on West End Communications and a track on a Craig Knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on Big Miz’s boiler room set.

These tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. Bleaker, Miz and The Burrell Connection have all been making waves in Scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. And I don’t think my track is too bad either.

For its seventh offering, Sol Power Sound taps into the pulse of the French Antilles for Tambours de Martinique, a blistering EP of original and remixed versions of rare, drum-centric dance floor workouts. Licensed directly from the legendary Martiniquan label Hibiscus Records, the EP features cuts by Eugène Mona and Max Ransay, two of Martinique's most storied musicians. With reworks by Spanish DJ and producer Kiko Navarro and the Sol Power All-Stars, this one will be in the record bags of discerning DJs all summer long.
The A side features 'Lizo' by Eugène Mona, an essential figure in the folkloric music of Martinique based on the bamboo flute, bèlè drums, and the island's specific variant of Antillean creole. Lizo was originally released in 1990 on Mona's Blanc Mangé Blan Manjé? LP and is anchored by frenetic percussion, a driving bassline, and house-evocative key stabs. Kiko Navarro's remix takes an already dynamic cut to deep Afro-space with thumping drums and a bubbling synth-bass groove that will put dancers through their paces.
With its powerful combo of urgent brass and ensemble vocals, Max Ransay's 1988 recording of the traditional Martiniquan folk song 'Ti Kanno' fills the B-side. 'Ti Kanno' was previously recorded by Ti Émile, Ransay and Mona's legendary forebear. Full of surprises, Ransay's version is a sonic melting pot of hand percussion, horns, unexpected synth lines, and bass. The Sol Power All-Stars edit fills out the low-end thump and teases out the groove for maximum impact.

Alongside a slew of x-rated themed events in London, their debut vinyl EP will also land consisting of four tracks from label affiliates and friends such as W!LD himself, Max Casebolt, Geschwindner, and Lost.Act.

W!LD sets the bar high with his own track taking the lead on the label with some deep dance floor action with a distinct spring in its step. “Sex Society” is the name, utilising crisp drum work and floaty organ lines. The aptly named “Attention” by Max Casebolt is a headsy affair ready to penetrate the club. Dusty broken drums breathing life in the moody sub heavy bass.

Geschwindner paves out a curious trip in “Vaganza”, meandering blissfully amongst the small hours of the night, dark and hazy synths and pads working their way around the chugging body of the track. Cruising on an elasticated bass throughout is Lost.Act’s “Bad Manners”, continuously rolling with the fierce vocal sample used adding some raw and ghetto emotion.

Take A Trip is more than just a record label, providing an all round experience allowing artists and partygoers to express themselves with no boundaries. Four chunks here for tasteful DJ sets.

Running from 1995 to 2002, 'Space' was a Wednesday night founded by Kenny Hawkes and Luke Solomon. It inhabited the underground world of Bar Rumba right in the heart of London's West End and took place each and every week. Kenny and Luke had both been regular fixtures on infamous London Pirate Radio station 'Girls FM', and were seeking a suitable place to play the kind of music they supported on their respective radio shows. They were presented with a weekly opportunity at Bar Rumba and snapped it up.

'Space' was THE place for 7 solid years, hosting local and international guests from the house music community week in week out, to 200+ hardcore and dedicated followers. Music from seminal record labels such as Classic, Prescription, Cajual, Paper, Relief was played on rotation amongst a killer mix of Disco classics, alternative 80s music, left-field B-sides and techno. The night undeniably became a cauldron of amazing music and midweek hedonistic chaos.

As Soho changed beyond recognition and clubbing moved Eastwards, Kenny and Luke decided to call it a day. Sadly, Kenny Hawkes died in 2011, leaving a huge hole in the dance music community. Kenny was a legendary figure with an unmistakable sound and DJ style, he had a warped sense of humour and a huge personality and he continues to be dearly missed by all to this day.

As a tribute to Kenny, his musical partner in crime Luke Solomon alongside 'Space' regular and DJ / Editor supreme Jonny Rock, and former Classic Records label boss Leon Oakey have joined forces to celebrate his life through music. 3 years of tweaking, pooling music and clearing tracks have culminated in 2 very special double albums and a digital compilation. A collection of 'Space' classics, underground jams and the tracks that shook the Shaftesbury Avenue dance floor, shaping one of London's most revered midweek sessions.

All profits from the compilation will be donated to the British Liver Trust.

A pretty interesting find for La Bella Di Notte who digs this super rare and weird white label offering with some retro-futurist imagery. Things kick off with "Space Disco". While the instrumental edit is a joyful, string-led number, the dub edit takes vibe on a deeper, more clubby tip. "Elephungk (Percapella)" closes side A, which is a wigged-out tech-house tune with garnishes of intergalactic effects. "Head (F.)lu(X.)" on the flip is a catchy, arpeggio-driven track with excellent sub-bass and a groovy mid-paced house tempo. The journey ends with "Guiro" a slow, electronic broken beat/synth workout with dark, alien undertones and anti-gravity keyboard sequences. Do not miss this one! Collectors item!

Saisei founder Junki Inoue continues his vital archival work uncovering the riches of Japan’s distinctive electronic music scene and bringing them to new audiences around the world. The Sounds Of Transonic compiles six tracks recorded in Tokyo between 1991 and 1995 and released by the pioneering Transonic label, founded in 1994 by Kazunao Nagata and active until 2004. Transonic’s catalogue is a glittering roll call of the scene’s major players, whose inventive and genre-blending work established forward-thinking house and techno in Japan in a way that would shape the country’s electronic sound for years to come. Transonic was instrumental in giving exposure to the work of these artists with its emblematic series of CD compilations, released over a short couple of years in the mid 90s. Beginning with 970-1450km/h, Feedback and Range, the series also included The Roots Of Transonic, featuring music from parent label Trigger. Alongside these compilations came much sought-after solo albums each packaged with striking cover art that makes the discs a visual treat for collectors to this day. The Sounds Of Transonic brings together six tracks from the catalogue into one breath-taking package. The influence of hi-tech jazz and machine funk from Detroit is undeniable in ‘Dream Trance’ (Mind Design) and ‘Blasting Soul’ (Interferon), while ‘Under The Ground’ (Palomatic) and ‘Chelsea’ (Suzukiski) are permeated by the artificial intelligence and trip hop emanating from the UK at the time. The compilation is bookended by two tracks by Nagata himself (as Organization): ‘Space Ball’, a Model 500-worthy chase through the cosmos, and ‘Call’, an eerie echo of Kraftwerk’s telephone, transmitting expectantly out into the void and, finally, receiving its celestial answer. With The Sounds Of Transonic these formative pieces of music will now be available internationally and, for the first time, on vinyl. Saisei is a Japanese word which translates to ‘reproduction’ and ‘to play’ (as in playing records). Japanese culture is widely known for its traditional nature just as much as it is for being forward into the future and this label’s concept does justice to exactly that. Having started digging for records as early as 16 years old, Inoue delved into productions from 1990s Japan to uncover these native gems. Saisei’s core concept is to recapture and reintroduce unique pieces of Japanese electronic music onto vinyl, to an audience it never reached before as most of this music was only released in Japan.
