Back in stock! Back in March 2003 Claro Intelecto announced his arrival in the electronic world with his Peace Of Mind EP on Ai Records. Now, a decade later, Delsin, the label on which he released his latest LP, is re-releasing it in all its glory. Across four perfectly formed tracks the EP proved Manchester's Mark Stewart to have a fine grasp on techno, electro and dub, and that he was able to do his own unique things with each. Arguably the most well known cut from the EP is 'Peace of Mind (Electrosoul)', a busy bit of chattery house-come-electro that is wired up with many zithering melody lines and Claro's trademark lush strings. 'Tone' is then a much more frazzled and aggressive bit of techno with raw, slapping percussion, gurgling synth lines and plenty of dystopian electro vibes. 'Contact' then settles into a deep, dubby, spacious groove with airy hi hats and a delightful bassline and carries you along effortlessly, and final track 'Signifier' closes things out in beautifully serene style with ambient swirling pads, organic synths and a curious bassline that rises and falls like the tide. Seminal stuff that still fetches a high price on Discogs, it was the start of a remarkable career for Claro Intelecto.

Hamburg's Martin Stimming has defined a unique shade of deepness through years of association with Diynamic Music; melodic and meditative, quietly compelling and possessing a delicate strength. "China Tree" is a spiky affair that sacrifices melodic sweetness for primal bass and drums, with a raw edge and exaggerated percussion that intensifies into sharp angles. Almost two years after their sensational debut release‚ Blaue Moschee, the arena rocking EP that's still a permanent fixture in Sven Väth's record bag, Die Vögel have laid another milestone in the history of club music - the Fratzengulasch EP. Ground breaking, surreal and captivatingly timeless, this dance music doesn't give a damn about the laws of gravity and the monotony of everyday routines. For some reason or another, there seems to be a sort of restricting fence around the electronic dance music scene at the moment. In true Trojan style, Die Vögel batter and ram the wall until a hole appears; a hole big enough for all the gleely squealing party people to crawl through. Out and on to freedom! It's a brave new world and help is at hand for the weary of ear. Listen in to the dream-like canons, freely dissonant brass orchestrations and hypnotic-psychedelic beats. The arrangements are clever, without relying on samples and tried and tested techniques. Off they stroll, Mense Reents and Jakobus Siebels, breathing in the fresh air, enjoying a clear view of a history of nocturnal dance music that goes back beyond 1986 and Chicago and is today international electronic folklore. It was the machines that taught Die Vögel duo to play their instruments in a different way and from them the machines have learned what makes a musician tick. That's how songs like ‚Fratzengulasch' come about: A tribal meditation, and a beautiful canon sung by Jakobus and Ebba Durstewitz, otherwise known as the band Ja König Ja. Or the glorious ‚Maikäferbenzin': There are sub binaural sounds on this track that get your brain hemispheres swinging in perfect synchronicity, on a frequency generally only experienced when in a trance. And there they're left, swinging away until the last third of the song where an abrupt saxophone break briefly interrupts, only to deliver the listener safely back into an absolute state of bliss and felicity. Mense and Jakobus' brilliant Pantha du Prince remix got people wondering but even before that the question cropped up: what is this music? DJ Koze calls it ‚Sect Funk'. We say: Pampa style in its purest form! Die Vögel' album will be released at the beginning of 2012.

The New World is upon us once again. It has been seven years already, since Markus Gebauer debuted on Riotvan under the guise of his New World moniker. That's quite a while in the realm of those sometimes short-term goings-on of clubculture. Yet, Gebauer kept himself busy meanwhile with his alter ego Interviews, reviving the erstwhile identity now that times are calling for a New World more than ever. And that's both, very generally speaking and particularly regarding his slick and classy approach to Neo-Disco-affairs. Interestingly, the lion's share of this EP had been laid down already five years ago, in an ahead of the curve nature that it couldn't sound more up to date right now in 2020. Take opener "Glances" for example. Suspense-packed arpeggio meets a groove-laden bass, gets kissed by some smooth melodies and far-out pads and evokes an immense open-air-hymn potential. Here's a little advance notice: that tune might not leave your head for the whole rest of the summer. "Enough!" in its seductive nonchalance seems to be cut from the same cloth. Another Indie-Disco sureshot filtered through shades-lenses. But "Enough!" - seriously? The hereby summoned feelgood-vibe will surely leave you wanting more. And more you shall get. "Fade Out" opens up with a rather straight beat-pattern, but again, the synth-arrangements, the melodies and harmonies are pure bliss. And then there is "Poéme", that Frankophile floor-enchantment, shaped out in sophistication and elegance, throwing in some subtle Depeche Mode-references and taking the French leave as one of the strongest clubtracks in this batch. Closing things up is Juan MacLean, giving "Enough!" a makeover that aims for the dancefloor as much as, let's say the hammock, infusing both, an irresistible groove and a laid back, almost Dub-like attitude.

Rift Vision 001 is producer and stay-at-home-DJ Lauren Ritter’s latest record. It is the debut album from her own, newly-minted label, Rift Vision. The album acts as vanguard of Rift Vision’s aesthetic: liminal, subconscious, and ultimately, synesthetic. At the outset, it’s apparent that Ritter has traded in the “cool” of her minimal dance music performances for deeply personal, dream-like compositions. Live instruments, spoken word (Tenesha the Wordsmith), and melodies written on Ritter’s modest collection of synthesizers are hallmarks of each bespokenly-titled track. While it’s not hard to imagine hearing any of Rift Vision 001’s tracks on the dance floor, it is hard to imagine why Ritter waited so long to release music like this.

As we continue our ever long winded hiatus from the dancefloor, we are happy to welcome a new group of producers to the label in the form of 00:AM’s fourth various artists compilation. Certainly not the only way we expected to come together this year, but we’re grateful to be able to cultivate another 12” to share with the world. Across the A Side, we are joined by three artists who we’ve had the pleasure of hosting and playing with in Montreal over the past couple years. Alfredo92 of the Axces crew in Copenhagen presents ‘Tente Hjul’ which gets the remix treatment from Mr. Action Shadow himself, Fett Burger. The result in something distinctly mechanical but not without a human pulse and a tear jerking conclusion. Fantastic Man then puts his own psychedelic twist on the hardcore continuum, taking the beautiful palette of his recent LP on Mule Musiq to the brink of insanity with ‘On Tha Run’. On the B side we find two new friends to 00:AM. We have a mandatory “minimum of 1 ESB tune gets played a night” policy round these parts, and so its truly a pleasure to release his ‘Sequential Dub’. Nothing less than a future classic, it’s dubby and understated, but a little quicker than you think. And finally, its a pleasure to introduce 2wo2imes, who delivers ‘Immune’ a deep and driving excursion into the wormhole. It’s a weird world, we miss you all, but we’ll keep doing what we know best, releasing and enjoying the music that moves us - no matter the time or place.

Born out of a love for extended live performance and late night studio jams, Adam Collins' and Marky Star's much revered Omni A.M. collaboration released their debut LP 'Key' 23 years ago, also launching their label Euphoria Records. A very limited amount of CDs were pressed and sold exclusively at Euphoria events throughout Chicago at the time, and with Omni A.M. and Euphoria's stock rising over the following decades, this timeless classic has become a Holy Grail amongst music heads and collectors alike, as the eye watering discogs prices will attest. Although heavily influenced by the Chicago house scene and it's luminaries Derrick Carter, Gemini, DJ Heather and Tyree Cooper, the pair embarked on a remarkable mission to record an album that owes much to their love of The Orb and KLF, the experimentalism of Psychic TV and Cabaret Voltaire, industrial favourites Skinny Puppy and the mind bending dub of Lee Scratch Perry, through to San Fran's West Coast house scene and the Tech-House sounds emanating from South London in the late '90s. LP opener 'space horse' rolls out the breaks before swathes of synths and sonic trickery abound, 'wo ist meine bier?' is characterised by haunting IDM-esque melodies, underpinned by the chug of a 4/4 beat. Over onto the flip where Villalobos favourite 'naked groove' unleashes an infectious rhythm, bass riff, synths and vocal, before 'splendid idea' moves into a more tripped out acidic territory, keeping the musical elements and energy to the fore. On disc 2, the aptly titled 'fusion' turns up the breakbeat heat, adds a hypnotic dub-funk b-line, building into an inspirational lead line. 'v.23's other-worldly throb neatly segues into the moody burning breaks of 'bitch', and closing track 'ready to know' is playful and confident in it's execution, without ever losing any depth or substance. What comes across is an unwavering dedication to creativity and pushing the boundaries of what's sonically possible, whilst defying the genres through a unique and essential collection of musical moments and psychedelic jams underpinned by beats that deliver the funk. These tracks have stood the test of time and have remained exciting and relevant throughout, this is the first time they have ever been released on vinyl. This double LP features exclusive edits and never heard before versions, lovingly remastered by Lawrie Curve Pusher from the original DATs and artwork recreated from, and inspired by the original release.

Beartrax is back on his own taste-making electronic label Melodize with a pair of fantastic new singles that get fine remix treatment by the cult underground figure that is Carl Finlow. American Beartrax has been experimenting with electronic music for 10 years now, and has built up a fine reputation and discography that often leads to Beatport chart toppers and gets big support from high profile DJs. Up first is Dream Riff, a low key roller with nice melancholic pads and crisp, crunchy hi hats as well as killer bass. It's a melodic musing that really carries your mind away from this world while keeping your body locked to the drums. Remixing is Carl Finlow, who has been an electro mainstay for decades. His version is haunting and minimal, with spooky bass notes and clacking hits that makes for a deep and atmospheric jam. Repentance closes out with nagging bass and a lead melody that is cautiously optimistic. This is another classy EP from all involved.

Their first collab „Any Kind of Pressure“ was followed by Lorenz joining Jamie’s world tour and a remix of „Big Love“ for Warp Records. Jamie performs with an amazing energy, and his soulful voice is carried by a warm and playful house backing: Minimoog bass, Rhodes piano and just some sparkles of a very old Roland synth that Lorenz had just bought, and which is now broken. The second new jam „On the Nightshift“ is a fun stabby tune based on a spiraling chord progression. It loops every three-and-a-half bars, just to make life harder for DJs. A real nice warm groover. The remix for „Sandpaper“ is a true family affair! Sound Support is the all new project by Lars Dales better known as 1/2 of Detroit Swindle and Lorenz himself. Returning to Not An Animal for the first time in 3 years, Ian Blevins crashes in with a massive EP that results in some dreamy electronica primed for the dance. Lobster Who Is Criminally Insane loads up the A1 with a track that veers towards the progressive house formula, whilst building on the more natural electronic blueprints. It’s rigorous and deadly, as synths build the pressure and detonate with devastating effects. Discodromo make their debut with a destructive remix of Lobster Who Is Criminally Insane. Stripping the track down and driving it down a more percussive avenue, the leads melodies are used to create an immense breakdown with epic results. Air Penguin carries on the same vibe as a refined mid-set floor filler, with an illustrious canopy of dreamy synths and counter melodies that rattle subs across the globe. Chida finishes off the 12" with his welcome return to the label with another remix that does the damage. Bringing the more offensive elements of the track, it takes the atmosphere and runs with it, adding some immense tension but remaining focused on the floor.

Celebrating 25 years as a recording artist and 15 years of his label Lazy Days Recordings, Fred Everything teams up with House Legend Robert Owens on ‘I’ll Take You In’. The track was recorded late last year when Robert was invited to perform with Fred in Montreal during a special event by Phil Collins (the artist not the singer!). The event was related to the art installation Bring Down The Walls, which examined racial injustice and the prison industrial complex in the US and Canada, through the unconventional lens of house music. Robert Owens needs no introduction of course, being the voice behind so many House Classics such as ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’, ‘Mystery of Love’ and of course ‘Bring Down The Walls’. The song was written the night before the studio session after meeting with Fred for the first time. ‘When I meet you, If I meet you, I’ll take you in. You become. Family’ It all came together naturally and has all the elements of a modern House Classic. Bouncy beats, rich chords and a driven bassline but most important : a song with a positive message and purpose deeply rooted in the tradition of this music we call House. On top of the Classic mix, there are 2 Btdw (Bring Down The Walls) versions, more stripped down, inspired by the event that made it possible. The choice of Remixer was easy, calling on one of his best friend and longest collaborator Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson who also collaborated with Robert in the past. Off the heels of his recent #1 remix of St-Germain ‘Rose Rouge’, he brought is A-Game incorporating a latin vibe with a quirk, thanks to his modulars and Moogs rig. Atjazz can do no wrong when it’s time to rework a nice song. A true master with a unique vision and dedication to sound.

The eighteenth release on Second Circle is the label's second exploration into an artists archival works; this time presenting a selection of four early tracks by theatre, film and music producer Can Oral under his Khan alias. Can moved to Williamsburg, New York in the early 90's along with good friend and fellow musician Jimi Tenor. Born in Germany of Turkish-Finnish parents, he would frantically start buying equipment (such as a Tr808, Tb303 and Korg Polysix) from junk shops across New York, becoming greatly prolific in his recordings which he would work on throughout the night. During the daytime though, Can set up and ran the now defunct Temple Records, a seminal Soho record store, and later label, largely importing Techno and Acid from Europe. Though a small store, Temple Records would count musicians and DJs such as Björk, Tricky, Dee-Lite, Josh Wink and Joey Beltram among its regular customers. Also he would host many such guests to play live or DJ at his weekly Techno party “Killer” which was held at Save The Robots in New York’s East Village. Can Oral's nightly studio sessions eventually led to an almost inexhaustible discography with over a dozen monikers each representing a different aspect of his productions. Sc018 focuses then on his early electronic works as Khan. Named after the color painted studio where the EP was produced between 1993-1996, 'Blue Box Sessions' is a collection of four analogue machine driven cuts, covering different tempos and ethos within electronic music. Initially live recorded to an old DAT recorder, and without any overdubs, Sc018 is a lost and found artefact to Khan's unquestioned raw talent and timeless relevance.
