Forged in the fertile acid house scene of the late 80s, A Trifle Too Far comprises childhood friends Simon Ward and Tony Grimley from Hornchurch, on London's outer fringes in Essex. Their insatiable thirst for seeking out new sounds led them to countless shindigs, parties and raves, eventually inspiring them to craft their own music based on their adventures on the dancefloor.

Their studio collaboration culminated in the creation of the remarkable record you currently hold in your hands: 'Catch Your Ear / Meringueatang'. This two-track release, recorded in 1992, offers forward-thinking and fresh prog-house cuts, as rare as hen's teeth and as exhilarating as they were upon their original release over three decades ago. Catch Your Ear was expertly engineered by Evren Omer, boss of Essex-based techno bunker Strategy Records, while Meringueatang was helmed by Matt Clayden, one half of M&M and Acorn Arts and the proprietor of X-Gate Records, another stalwart in Essex's underground dance scene.

'Catch Your Ear / Meringueatang' remains the only musical collaboration between the duo. When Mint Condition approached them to reissue this highly sought-after EP, both Simon and Tony were surprised and delighted in equal measure by the proposition. Now, a few months down the line, we find ourselves with yet another top-tier addition to the MC reissue catalogue, fully licensed from the artists, mastered and cut by Keith Tenniswood at Curve Pusher, and available once again for purchase. On Savor Music 025, we summoned a fine selection of remixers to rework Franco Cinelli's "Tracks from the Vault Part 2."

"Tribute To Miles Davis," where Cinelli merges jazz and electronic elements into a hypnotic sonic journey was reinterpreted by Chicago Legend DJ Jes adding a trippier, loose house interpretation, infusing the track with an extra jazzy twist while maintaining its original spirit. Pablo Minuto & Guillermo de Caminos made a minimalistic take on the same cut, transforming the track into a groovy, hypnotic experience with a focus on rhythmic and atmospheric elements.

"Electronic Funk" original’s pulsating bassline, crisp percussion, and intertwining synth melodies are further enriched in Jorge Savoretti’s remix, which introduces an extra layer of synth action, giving the track’s a deeper interpretation.

First up, they tackle Blunted Dummies's 'House For All' and flip it into a thumping house cut with old-school synth stabs and a low-slung bassline. DJ TEETH’s Tremendo Recordings proudly presents its debut release, Orion. Rescued from DAT archives by Belgian-based Holographic Hallucination, the release revitalises a selection of rare or previously unreleased tracks from the early/mid-90s golden era.

The title track never made it to release, with just 200 promo copies made in ‘94, reflecting an eye-watering price and a high want list count on Discogs. Now, after years of relative obscurity, this release aims to introduce this sought-after work to a fresh audience. Orion is a 14-minute-plus journey of nostalgic arpeggiated baselines, coupled with mirroring in and out synth lines and swirls, creating an almost ominous mood.

First on the B-side ups the pace with an unreleased dub version of Rumble, a head-down, arms-up, feet-stomping raver track which was released on their label Holographic in ‘93.

The EP closes with an unreleased track produced that same year, Horizon, whirling through your ears and leading to feelings of transcendence.

A crowd of over 100,000 was blown away as he performed his special four turntable set at the Detroit Movement Festival. He banged the box at the Cornerstone Event near Chicago before a crowd of 600+. DJ Mo Reese shined at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, and has been featured on stations Wgpr, Wjlb and won the Mixidome contest on Whyt. As a performer/producer, DJ Mo Reese inspires audiences with his uplifting and soulful style of House music.

“Joi N’Juno - Samemala (The album)”, is the debut album from Joi N’Juno and heralds the second long player released on the Canopy imprint.

David Baluteau aka Joi N’Juno is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and full-time studio engineer with many years honing his craft. David earned his stripes as founder, composer and lead singer of the cult French drum & bass-electro-punk band “La Phaze” which has been running successfully for 25 years and recently concluded an extensive 2-year tour.

Now focusing on this new chapter in his creative journey, Joi N’Juno serves up an album that is at the same time both fresh & mature. The album encompasses a range of influences, from classic 70s and 80s disco vibes a là Niles Rogers, zouk boogie from Kassav, afro funk vibes from Nigeria as well as modern disco house motifs.

The resulting concoctions are aimed at the dance floor, whilst retaining a certain “pop” appeal in their catchy sing-along compositions. Punchy production, funky guitars, groovy bass lines and infectious vocal melodies combine with dextrous keyboard wizardry, culminating in a fusion that has wide appeal both on and off the dance floor.

To celebrate we bring you 10 Years Of Rocksteady Disco Vol. 1 from 4 of Rocksteady Disco's heaviest hitting mainstays. The release kicks off with Sol Power All-Star’s "Solsibisa", a peak hour pan-African house banger with a huge bassline and tons of drums to turn out the dance. From there Eddie Logix takes the baton for "2nd Choice (It's Still Not Over)”, a tune that remixes an all-time classic into a bonafide Disco House banger in that sleazy Eddie Logix way. On the flip it gets deeper, with the 12 minute "Whispers Of You" from Blair French, a deep house epic reminiscent of Ron Trent and Joe Claussell. Closing out the release is Topher Horn’s “Gratiot dub”, a bugged out cosmic beatdown joint affectionately named for one of Detroit’s most iconic roads. A fantastic EP so here's to the next five years.

New Jersey producer, DJ and Inimeg Records head honcho Joey Anderson takes on the role of Obiaman for Obia Records 005. Well known for his deep and intriguing records Joey Anderson takes the label far into the night sky with Vanish EP. Accompanied by label owner Wendel Sield the EP sets to serve a variety for all tastes.

Anderson’s style of hypnotic rhythm and cosmic synth work finds common ground with the labels African background in “Masked Ones”. With haunted vocal shots and elegant drum work. Minimalistic use of elements fill the track exceptionally well.

“Vanish”, the records main cut fills any ear with an astonishing panned bassline accompanied by loosely layered hihats. Strange and eerie pads float around the bassline, while piano chords give structure to the music. Followed by “Escape” this well-crafted jam explores the deep even further. Jumping synth lines that sound from another planet edge the depth of Anderson’s amazing musical ear. The track is layered by dirty low frequencies that suck you in with weird noises and atmospheric melodies.

Orbiting an icy moon Wendel Sield's “Cultivate” shows itself at the end of the EP. A pulsating synth line dominates the track main character. Intricate percussion patterns drag the track along to a dirty mono sequence. Big open snares makes this a track a slap in the face to its listener.

London-based label Dancing With Strangers is back, after a brief hiatus, with the third edition being served up by none other than head honcho Oliver Moon. On his third solo outing as an artist, Moon delivers two solid tracks in the shape of ‘Downstream' and ‘Drifting’. Both of which exercise his signature raw take on production and showcase an ability to carry a consistent groove whilst weaving deep, dreamy sounds into classy percussive work. Dancing With Strangers Co-founder Agile Kind returns on remix duties to tackle ‘Downstream’ and does so wonderfully. Following the lead baseline, he layers lush pads around crisp skippy drum programming and lands on pure euphoria. Last but certainly not least, the inimitable Carl Finlow (2020 Vision) rounds off the EP with a stellar electro remix of ‘Drifting’. Leading with a thick, growling bass and fusing cinematic synth work with playful acid stabs, Finlow captures the essence of the original. The end result is a beautifully emotive track entwined with stunning melodic elements destined for the dancefloor.
