There's something special about old friends making music together. Weleli, originally released by Victor Diawara under his latest project Afrodelic, carries a deep and very personal story. It speaks of loss, crucial life decisions and paying tribute to one's roots. But like every great story, it doesn't stop with simply being told. And this EP offers four new versions of Weleli, interpreted and narrated by a good friend of Victor, Ten Walls. It opens with Remake that maintains the reverie and a certain melancholic peacefulness of the original. Featuring electric guitar, bass and synths, along with ngoni, balafon and the Malian children choir, it stays true to the original Afrodelic style: a mix of African and electronic music. The following Acoustic Edit is the most serene take on the song of them all. It's a stripped-down version dedicated to highlight and give space for the vocals, traditional instruments and percussive elements. Remixes are without a doubt pieces of Ten Walls creation. The mood changes quite a bit to a colder and much more aggressive vibe. The faster tempo and heavy synths give the African elements almost a tribal color, instantly making the song even more danceable. Remixes is where the song truly shines in new light, making it a true collaboration combining the talent of both musicians.

Michael Mayer had chance to play with them last summer at one of their Obscura parties and their friendship was cemented. From our early days of releasing landmark tracks from JUSTUS KÖHNCKE, the label has never been shy of exploring the enigmatic fringes of disco in our own way. Holly Lester’s Duality Trax Label has quickly become synonymous for its blend of future facing sonics and mind-warping melodies, served together with a healthy dose of nostalgia. A label just as focused on making dancefloor destroyers as it is exploring left-leaning, personal projects, it’s within this duality where the label has found its success, never afraid to shy away from b side oddities or tracks edging more towards good-old-fashioned-fun.

Duality5 steers towards the latter, with Manchester based DJ & producer Aiden Francis providing the serotonin on tap with three lively dancefloor cuts, including a huge remix from Italy’s Matisa. Aiden had a big 2022, releasing music on Magic Carpet, Gestalt and beloved music platform and label Houseum, solidifying himself as one to watch in the euphoric unity of house, trance and techno.

Title track ‘Plastic Fantasy’ is the star of the show, a suitably sassy roller that places everyone's favorite blonde icon front left of the speakers. Subtle old school strings contrast with alien electronics, providing familiarity in an otherwise unfamiliar world. A bubble-gum vocal then rolls in cheekily over a driving bassline and dynamic percussion - used in a way I’m not sure the original creators had in mind. ‘Future Proof’ meanwhile demonstrates Aidens’ knack for contemporary progressive house music. With warm pads, swirling sonic textures and moments of blissful euphoria, it’s energetic enough to move a dancefloor, but gentle enough for home listening too.

The record comes to a close with ‘Aquamarine’, with Aiden opting in favour of free flowing breakbeats and mind expanding synths, together radiating a feeling of warmth and hope for days to come. Italian DJ and producer Matisa is on hand to round the EP off with a bass-heavy rendition of ‘Plastic Fantasy’ a no-holds-barred speed garage licked stomper, with the power to lure smokers back inside the club with their feet firmly planted on the dancefloor.

Most Excellent Unlimited returns with a deluxe edition of AK’s soulful house classic “Say That You Love Me,” with exclusive 7-inch edits by Danny Krivit on a limited edition collectors clear pink vinyl featuring a new picture sleeve.

Through her renowned & illustrious career, AK Akemi Kakihara has released fifteen albums and notched many hits in her native Japan, both for herself and with other artists she’s written for. Beginning in the early 2000s, she also crossed over to the house world with several resounding tracks, making perhaps the biggest impact with “Say That You Love Me.” The song was first released in a downtempo R&B mix in 2001, the year that Akemi Kakihara, now recording under the artist name AK, relocated to New York City. That same year, “Say That You Love Me” was licensed by King Street Records, who commissioned François Kevorkian and Eric Kupper to give the original a deep house treatment. The resulting remix was a runaway success, transforming the song into a sultry dance floor groover that perfectly embodied the sound of the day (and included a standout solo by Defunkt trumpeter John Mulkerin). It was quickly picked up by tastemakers like the Body & Soul DJs, Louie Vega, BBC Radio, and various radio stations across Europe as well as back in Japan, and in the twenty years since then, the song has only grown in stature, becoming a must-play anthem in Japan and with house heads across the globe.

For this special 20th Anniversary reissue timed for Black Friday Record Store Day, Most Excellent Unlimited has pressed Danny Krivit’s 7-inch edits of the Fk-ek remix and AK’s own remix to a clear pink 7-inch, which also features a special picture sleeve by Junko Hino. Danny Krivit, who made the team official when he and AK were married in 2008, has done his usual expert job coming up with edits that go far beyond a typical lopped off 7-inch version and give the best of the long mixes while staying within the sonic confines of the more portable format.

With the long awaited availability of AK’s entire early catalog now on streaming services, plus the arrival of an all-new full length album, the time is right to rediscover one of the great soulful voices of R&B and house, and nowhere better to start than this 20th Anniversary single.

Extremely solid release starting off with two tracks by Al Bradley 'Pale Blue Dot' which carries on the early house style but in a much deeper way. Then we have Chicago house vibes on 'In Flagrante Delicto' with its dreamy pads and subtle acid towards the end of the track. On the flip there's two tracks by Scott Hallam with the latin percussion filled 80's inspired 'Kettle Crusader' followed by the gorgeous, almost Yello Magic Orchestra-esque 'Modern Senses' showing how versatile he is as a producer. A lot can happen in a decade: children, national self-harm, mid-life crisis and a side order of pestilence to boot.

At Misericord this is all grist for the mill and for Al Usher - returning to our so-occasional-it's-taking-the-piss label for the third time after his Gnanfou and Hilversum EPs - the impetus for two inspired pieces of chamber disco-not-disco 'The Evenings' and 'The Visitors'.

Adding an off-kilter pop sensibility to his musical arsenal, Al has written his first songs, grappling with parenthood, ageing and post-Brexit identity with self-deprecation and poignancy. Vocals are provided by partner Jeanette whose immaculate diction conjures Sarah Cracknell, Jane Weaver or Would-Be-Goods by way of Neil Tennant.

These songs haven't left our heads since we first heard them in demo form, and label founder and Al's Partial Arts partner-in-crime Ewan Pearson is on duties for additional production and mix, alongside a Sleeping Bag-ish disco re-rub of 'The Evenings' on the B-side for club use.

This is a strictly limited vinyl release ahead of a full Al Usher LP due on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal in the coming year - we're honoured to be kicking off Al's return to discerning listeners and dancefloors with this stunning 12â€.

It takes a lot to achieve the status of legendary or era defining in dance music, its sands shift so quickly artists, genres and labels have often come and gone before you realise.
So it's with some pride and deserved justification that Yoshitoshi marks its 20th anniversary with celebratory remix packages of its most iconic tracks.

Already riding high in the Beatport charts with the success of the Uto Karem and Robosonic mixes of Eddie Amadors House Music, the latter of which has spent the past month in the overall top 5, the label now plans a one, two punch with the follow-up: Alcatraz seminal Giv Me Luv.

We thought long and hard about how we scheduled this 20th anniversary project, says label boss Sharam, little point launching big and then following up with a whimper so we deliberately chose Alcatraz for this difficult task.

But the challenge didnt end there; a massive record still deserves a massive remix and I think its safe to say we found the perfect woman for the job...
Step forward undisputed techno titan Nicole Moudaber who leapt at the opportunity to remix the track.

Ive got so many fond memories of Giv Me Luv, it was one of my favourite tunes from my formative clubbing days, recalls Nicole happily, so, when Yoshi mentioned the idea of me remix-ing it I just couldn't say no.

In fact I was so familiar with Alcatraz I was already awash with ideas of what I could, or should, do with it.

As I got into the mix one of those ideas just grew and grew, namely an extended breakdown that constantly builds; layering the memorable vocal to an intense pay-off and (hopeful) moment of real dancefloor drama. Nicoles humble description doesn't quite do the end result justice, which is a modern, masterful take on the classic.
Her iconic techno beats, dark twisted stabs and arrangement of that bassline drive toward the mentioned break, which will undoubtedly rival the fireworks of any impending NYE celebrations.

In fact, expect this track to be THE soundtrack to many a dance floor come the all-important hand-over to 2015. And, just in case that weren't enough, Yoshi has also secured the skills of Tent Cantrelle to deliver the perfect deep house foil to Nicoles techno ferocity as Sharam concludes, We wanted a real slice of contemporary funk from the companion mix.

Yoshi is synonymous with exploring the line between deep house and techno, perhaps no more so than during its formative years, so this re-mix completes the package perfectly.

Aleksandir's debut album on Omena, Skin, was both musically and conceptually, a truly personal and expressive record. Here we have three tracks from the album in glorious remix form. Tom VR has managed to carve out a unique sound with his music, released on labels such as All My Thoughts, Intergraded, Lionoil Industries and Valby Rotary. He delivers a dreamy, lucid and melodic take on 'Skin & Mind' and makes an already beautiful track almost implausibly wide-eyed. After several stunning and diverse releases, we had to get Ikonika on board to remix 'I Used To Dream'. Her take on the track is a futuristic electronic beat construction, polished with class and driven by weighty production. Alex Attias, El Mustang Project is back with a new album. This second opus features full of new collaborations with on vocals Cecilia Stalin, Rouhangeze and Desney Bailey. Alex worked as well with the keyboardist and instrumentalist genuises Sohan Wilson and Hajime Yoshizawa and with Saxophonist friend Arthur Donnot and Alina Bzhezhinska on Harp. This Album has been made during a two years period between 2019 and 2021. This is a reflection of the various musical styles Alex was listening at home enjoying producing during the lockdown. For our fifth release, P&f Recordings is pleased to welcome Berlin-based musician, producer, and DJ, Alex Kassian. Over the past few years, Kassian has made a name for himself in Berlin and beyond as a solo act, as well as with his project Opal Sunn, via a clutch of well received, dancefloor-focused 12s. But on our first release of 2021, Kassian swaps the techy pulse of the German capital for a sound that’s altogether more melodic and atmospheric. Side A kicks off with 'Leave Your Life (Lonely Hearts Mix)' which began as a way for the producer to realize some of his early—and so far unrequited—dreams of playing in a rock band. Next up he delivers 'Leave Your Life (Dance Mix)', which ups the energy and echoes some of the production that made the musician’s 'Oolong Trance' (Love on the Rocks) one of 2020’s best club tunes. On the flip, the gorgeous 'Spirit of Eden' unfurls like a lost Lyle Mays classic, but with a mesmerizing loop that keeps the song’s feet placed firmly on the dancefloor. Concluding the EP is a bass-heavy remix from none other than U.S. dub legend Bill Laswell. 'Eden’s' melodic focus is underpinned by a propulsive groove and filtered through Laswell's trademark sonic dynamics. The 8th instalment of Deep Site's 'Vinylized' limited edition 12" series sees German producer Frankman and Catelan Alex V join forces to supply four generous portions of Deep House dope on wax.

A DJ and producer since the early 90s, Frankman was heavily involved in shaping Leipzig’s unique Deep House scene. Frankman has held residencies at the city's most iconic venues since '92, founding The 'FM Musik' imprint with Ralf Bürger in 1998. He's since gone on to perform all over the country and release on mythic imprints such as Dessous and Cocoon.

Alex V is truly one of the unsung heroes of Deep House. His distinctive, effortless, yet deceptively complex production style has been bubbling in the underground, a mainstay in the digital crates of diggers and DJs since '99. After moving to the UK, Alex founded his Sophisticate Recordings label in 2008, and continues to develop his sound, which seems to get more accomplished with every release.

Alex V's 'Impulse' opens proceedings, a pristine and warm mid-tempo groover with pristine sonics and soaring synth pads. Frankman makes his entrance on the A-side with 'Lonely Move', a hypnotic and atmospheric gem which steadily unfolds into something quite mesmerising.

Frankman opens the B-side with 'Nothing But Darkness', providing a moodier, more introspective feel with soul-stirring synth chimes cutting through the groove like the sun through clouds. Alex V takes over to close out the side, and the EP, with a floaty melodic techno cut entitled 'Aura', summoning up a mellow, soft-focus 80's movie dream sequence.

Weighty Ways strongly believe that every now and then the Universe aligns a series of elements that leads to the uprising of a unique talent. Alfredo Romero is the byproduct of where a philosophical understanding of the sonic landscape meets all its capabilities. With little regard for the restraints of traditional music theory and drawing influences from improvisational genres such as Jazz (which Alfie studied to a molecular level at Leeds University) makes for a superior musical tapestry woven by a man far beyond his years. Alfie's quest for musical enlightenment started at a very young age as a Chorister and experimented with a plethora of musical instruments. This profound musical understanding is evident in "Retrain Station", a four track EP born from the ashes of a desolate 2020. A collection of seamlessly flowing production with tones drawn from the musical nuances of Jazz, Blues and Classical through to the ever evolving face of the electronic music scene from both sides of the pond. Strong on all flavours from Jungle to Jazz. A magnificent EP from a truly special individual.
