Fraud recalled his audition for Curren$y,
after meeting him while working on a

briefly for one second at a radio station,
but that was the first time we really kicked
it. He just asked me to play some beats,
and I played like five beats, and he was
just like, 'Yo, I need all of those. We gotta
do a little EP with those.'” Those same
five beats became the entire sound bed
for the ‘Cigarette Boats’."

Finally, the wait is over! Curren$y and Harry Fraud's new joint effort is here. The rapper-producer duo unloaded “The Marina EP”, an eight-track project featuring guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, Action Bronson, Smoke DZA and Street Wiz as a digital release at the end of May, and now it is seeing its way to vinyl.
Curren$y (aka Spitta Andretti) and Fraud previously connected on Cigarette Boats, an EP they dropped in 2012 as a Sound Cloud only release. “The Marina” sees their chemistry is still as sharp as ever, with each artist lending what we think are career-best efforts.
“The Marina” is a showcase for Spitta's understated, but clever brand of lyricism. Mr. Fraud also delivers, crafting a soundscape as dynamic as Spitta's subtly versatile flows. The chemistry between the two would make Walter White envious.
The show begins with "Radar Tower," a dreamy opening for a project filled with gems from Fraud and Curren$y. "Yours truly in the booth, packaging and wrapping these bricks/My style capture a chick, she was dressed quite ravishing/In the parking lot at the Radisson/With garbage bags of cash in the back of the van," Curren$y raps, tying in some nice alliteration while sounding as relaxed as can be.
With additional tracks featuring heavyweights like French Montana, Action Bronson, Smoke DZA and Wiz Khalifa, this release is certain to become an instant “must cop” release.

“Time Being”, originally released in 2003, was the first full-length CYNE LP, following a series of 12” singles for Beta Bodega’s imprint Botanica Del Jibaro. This Project Mooncircle reissue marks the first time that this long out-of-print album has been released on vinyl. This deluxe edition includes a remaster of the original “Time Being” album, previously released singles, instrumentals, and two previously unreleased bonus tracks (“Plain English” and “The Word”), both recorded during the “Time Being” sessions.

CYNE’s “Time Being” lineup consisted of MC’s Cise Star and Akin Yai, and producers Speck and Enoch. The four teamed up in Gainesville, Florida in 2001 and recorded “African Elephants”, which was quickly released as a 12” and set the trajectory for the group’s course. “Time Being” was created over the next year and reflects the musical and political environment of the time. Sonically the album showcases a synthesis of obscure samples filtered through the eclectic influences of Speck and Enoch, while Cise Star and Akin Yai’s lyrics cover a wide range, from conceptual, introspective, and spiritual ideas to the anxieties of post-9/11 xenophobia and being a black youth in America.

CYNE has continued to release music for more than 15 years, including projects for domestic and international labels such as Project: Mooncircle, Botanica Del Jibaro, P-Vine, Home Tapes, and City Centre Offices. Although the group’s lineup has changed for recent projects, all four members continue to work together, creating a reputation as artists that stay true to the lyrical power and gritty cut and paste aesthetic of classic Hip Hop while managing to explore new sonic territory.

Both CYNE and Akin Yai released new material in 2017; CYNE recently announced the second volume of their “Wasteland” beat tape series, while Akin Yai’s new album “Romantica”, primarily produced by Speck and Enoch, was released in April of 2017.

Hip-hop giants Cypress Hill have announced new album 'Elephants On Acid'.

The project finds producer DJ Muggs returning to helm the project, the first full length he has worked on with the group for over a decade.

Out on September 28th, the rap odyssey contains 21 tracks, moving from expansive pieces to short interludes, beat workouts and more.

“Anything can happen when Muggs, B-Real, and myself get together to record,” says Sen Dog. “We were kids when we first got together. We’ve grown up as men now, but the chemistry is still the same. Village Live Records are proud to present 'Time & Tide', the new album by Mancunian poet and emcee, D'Lyfa Reilly.

The 12-track album is entirely produced by Village Live artist Aver and is the last release to be overseen by the label's co-founder Joey Deez, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

D'Lyfa burst onto the UK hip-hop scene in 2011 aged 19. After releasing a slew of mix tapes and videos he gained notoriety across the UK, most notably being featured on BBC Introducing and Charlie Sloth's 1xtra national radio shows.

It was during this period that D'Lyfa befriended fellow Mancunian hip-hop producer Aver. The two had a shared vision of an alternative, no-nonsense approach to music and worked together for years on a number of projects that never saw official release. 'Time & Tide' is a combination of reworked tracks from this era and new music the pair created in 2019.

The album will be available on limited edition 12" vinyl in two colour ways: standard black, and the other an aquatic-themed transparent blue with white swirl. The digital version of the album, along with the instrumentals will also be available to stream/buy when 'Time & Tide' is fully released at the start of 2021.

Dan-e-o’s hard-hitting 6th solo album “Vigilante” is equal parts lyricism clinic and seething social commentary. Inspired by both the “Dexter” and “Death Note” series, Dan-e-o’s new album title represents his commitment to “kill” all of the negativity mentioned above. Well-known for his classic debut 1996 single, “Dear Hip Hop”, Dan-e-o is every bit as punchline-heavy as you would expect on “Vigilante”. The album is also the veteran Toronto lyricist’s most provocative project to date. Taking zero bars lightly and sparing no feelings, Dan calls out such personalities as Kanye West, Donald Trump and Candace Owens while condemning Fox News, murderous police officers and the Ku Klux Klan. He even finds time to address a past toxic relationship while not missing a beat tearing into talentless rappers. The soundscape of “Vigilante” can best be described as “heavy neck-snapping boom bap”. The head-nodders are supplied by Toronto’s Big Sproxx (Freedom Writers) and frequent collaborator Charisma a.k.a. Skizzz (Monolith) as well as Japan’s S-ky THE Cookinjax. opportunities and redemption (All I, Born Again), his time in prison (Locked Up)
and complicated relationship with his father (Dear Poppa).
His effortless free fowing cadence and indelible sing-song delivery elevate each
track with a melodic infectiousness whilst Danger Mouse exhibits an afnity for
resonant instrumentals built from sampled organ, vibraphone, or guitar loops and

As one of hip hop’s premier auteurs, Danny Brown has been no stranger to conscious themes and current affairs; much of his discography features blisteringly honest verses set to explosive productions. But on his sixth album Quaranta, Danny Brown shows a new side: with his forlorn face half obscured by the shadows of his past, he delivers a raw, autobiographical clarity that we haven’t seen before.

Part of this comes with age. “Quaranta” means “forty” in Italian, marking pivotal moments and epiphanies in the years since his breakout record XXX. It’s also where the word “quarantine” originates, not only referring to the decade defining lockdowns the album was written in, but to a deep sense of isolation and self reflection that colours Danny’s storytelling. Now the vinyl for Danny Watts' "Black Boy Meets World" on Jonwayne’s imprint Authors Recording Company. Beats were supplied in full by Jonwayne, creating the environments that mesh to Danny Watts’ introspective lyricism and soulful cadences on the mic. The Houston based rapper has created a body of work that details his life experiences with an honest and uncompromising lens, jumping out of the Authors Recording Company gates as the first release after the critically acclaimed Rap Album Two.

Danny Watts and Jonwayne recently captured Black Boy Meets World in the span of only a week, recording the 11-track LP at the Los Angeles recording facility Cosmic Zoo. Danny also wrote all of the lyrics to the album in this same window, finishing up to three songs per day as the Cosmic Zoo sessions occurred in an intense yet efficient form. Mixing and mastering was completed by Low End Theory’s Daddy Kev and artwork was supplied by Authors’ creative director Shane Sakanoi. With executive oversight and production on every track supplied by Jonwayne, guest contributions and features include Ray Wright of Warm Brew, DIBIA$E, Leaving Records’ Kiefer, Dr. Octagon collaborator Juan Alderete de la Pena, Zeroh, and many others. The overall effect presents the ethos of hip-hop’s many forms, pulled into the weight of classic sounding kicks, snares, hi-hats, basslines, keys, synths, and horns.
