This might be the first time we have dropped a release on Herring with brand new rhymes over unreleased and unheard early-mid 90’s beats. Here we have the extremely dope Long Island representers Horror City. We first hooked up in 2010 to release the crazy nice ‘Prince Paul presents Horror City 1995 Demos EP’ which included a bunch of joints that were later reworked for Prince Paul’s ‘Prince Among Thieves’ album.

Superstar the man behind Horror City has been recording since the 80’s and the fact dude has come up with something so fresh and so relevant almost 40 years later is a testament to his talent and commitment to the art form. Conceived in New Jersey’s then-emerging DIY scene of the late 1990s, cult hip-hop act Dälek pioneered an intriguing fusion of progressive lyrical prowess and sonic experimentation. With unique dark ambient / rhythmic noise elements, the trio was described as a mix of Public Enemy and My Bloody Valentine. Their singular sound was documented on four milestone albums released on Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings imprint, alongside live actions supporting the likes of Tool and Melvins and collaborative works with artists such as Faust, before the group ceased regular activities in 2011.

In the spring of 2015, mastermind MC Dälek (a.k.a. Will Brooks) revived the project with the blessing of ex-member / co-producer Oktopus. Featuring new members DJ rEk and Mike Swarmbots, Dälek presents their newest release and first proper full-length since 2009’s Gutter Tactics.

A formidable display of true hip hop artistry, Asphalt for Eden is a creative peak for the forward-thinking trio and will generate renewed interest in their iconoclastic sound.

At 14 years old, Funky DL and his older brother permanently moved from living with their Mother in Hackney to living with their Father in London’s Borough of Newham. It was this significant change that would begin to shape the most formative years of his transition from childhood into adulthood and his relentless pursuit into the world of music.

In the heart of Stratford, East London, a two bedroom apartment in a towering 22 story building was to permanently become DL’s new home. Lyrically encapsulating DL’s experiences between 1992 and 2005, from the first track, “Moving In” to the final song, “Moving Out”, this is a remarkably personal Funky DL album, aptly titled after the name of the building... DENNISON POINT.

LIFE AFTER DENNISON:
After an incredibly warm reception from the fans of the auto-biographical November 2018 release "Dennison Point", Funky DL returns precisely one year later with the sequel, "Life After Dennison". The focus sits firmly on the lyrical aspect of the album moreover the beats, however DL's trademark sound still weaves through and compliments the rhetoric throughout. One would think it difficult to capture so much insight into the last 14 years since moving out of Dennison Point, however, in just 30 minutes running time, the album showcases the continuation of DL's life exploits from October 10th 2005 to present day. The Content Label, Los Angeles’s ‘experiential’ hip hop imprint, rarely signs an artist based on a demo, but an impressive delivery from Japan recently broke the trend. Recorded by Salty – AKA Tokyo-based producer / videographer Naoya Ninomiya – the demo arrived as a nearly complete object, ready for dissemination to the global hip-hop headz-space. The songs have been mastered by legendary Japanese hip-hop studio engineer ‘The Anticipation Illicit’ Tsuboi and, with Dday One acting as executive producer it is now ready to be unveiled as the thirteen track album Camera. It’s a fantastic audio journey that gives a glimpse into Japanese beat-making prowess while sitting proudly within the instrumental hip hop echelon. With “Camera”, Salty showcases a diverse set of styles and an acumen for rhythmic patterns and tone, developed through his years of crate-digging and experimentation. And there are many moments to claim as highlights … “Remonoganac” with its gentle piano, atmospheric textures, and tough beats; the laid-back hip hop funk and scratches of “ADSL”; the smoky downtempo vibe of “The Sea Came At Midnight” is reminiscent of sounds of classic Dj Krush; and “Melting In The Dark” with its cinematic layers and haunting vocal. These all qualify for honors, among other possible choices. With Camera, a compelling portrait of Salty as a rising star on the beat-making scene has emerged and The Content Label is on the case.

The mighty Oxygen returns to AE Productions with a highly anticipated full-length album produced entirely by the multi-talented Tea Sea Records owner and producer/MC Tom Caruana.
Anyone familiar with AE Productions releases will know that Oxygen has been rolling with us for many years so we’re hyped to be able to release his debut solo long player. The aptly titled Age Appropriate was released on download and on physical pre-order on Oxygen’s 50th birthday and the long wait was worth it! This is Hip Hop through the lens of an MC that has a vast experience in the world of Hip Hop and life in general and covers an array of topics, some personal and some of the verbal word play dexterity that we have come to expect from one of the finest and underrated MC’s around today.
Some track titles may be familiar such as ‘Guillotine 16’s’, ‘The Process’ and ‘33.3’ that have previously appeared as single releases but presented here are all brand new versions that had a better fit with the overall soundscape co-ordinated by Tom Caruana so every track on the album is new material.
We’re also treated to some help from Emskee, Dr Becket, Jesus Mason, BusCrates, Apani B, Jack Jones and U-George plus some turntable duties covered by DJ Presyce and Jazz Spastiks. The timeless design by artwork supremo Mr Krum perfectly encapsulates the contents of the album.

"City For Sale" is a breakup album. A relationship album. Instead of a woman its about my hometown...YOUR hometown...your old way of living. Growing apart from a place, from people, from who you once were, because I'm from a currently gentrifying city that theme is on the surface of the album but the overall narrative is for any person that feels unfamiliar in a space that was familiar to them. This album is me finding my new comfort zone because I have to.

This "City For Sale" album is the first time I've produced an entire album on my own including making every beat. Even Donwill's "One Word No Spaces" LP (which I'm credited as the producer) was co produced and co arranged by Donwill, (thats something we always wanted to do). City For Sale is another personal goal for me. I've been afraid to do an entire album alone until now....if this shit is wack its all my fault. With that said this is my calling card album. This is the one I will hopefully be known for when its all said and done.

V Don have joined forces once again on their new collaborative album “Timeless”.
Frequent collaborators (“The Message”, “They Killed Pookie”, “Alleyway Piss” and
“Blow 3”) “Timeless” is their first full-length project together, and this eleven (11)
song soundtrack to the streets leaves fans of the duo wanting more. V Don’s dark
and gritty production is the perfect background for Dark Lo’s tales of the streets,
violence and crime. “Timeless” includes features from the legendary Roc Marciano,
Griselda artist Benny the Butcher, and frequent V Don collaborator, Eto.
V Don has been a force on the New York rap scene for several years and has
worked with almost everyone in the game. His production of “Ghetto Symphony”
for A$AP Rocky brought V Don’s sounds to every corner of the country and
he hasn’t looked back since. V Don is coming off of a hot 2018 campaign
after releasing EP’s with Willie the Kid, Adonis, and his very own project “The Bone
Collector.” Dark Lo is best known for his work alongside AR-AB and the Philly hip
hop scene. His distinctive voice and style is reminiscent of classic Philly rap and he
brings his energy on each track on the new album. Dark Lo has also had a strong
2018 after dropping his anticipated album “The Testimony.”

Slaine's upcoming studio album "The King Of Everything Else", is scheduled for an August 19th release date through Suburban Noize. The album is set to feature collaborations with heavyweights Tech N9ne, Madchild, Bishop Lamont, Vinnie Paz, Reks and Termanology, and La Coka Nostra brethren ILL BILL. The album artwork for "The King Of Everything Else", was designed by legendary hip-hop artist Skam2, who has worked with everyone from Eminem, A Tribe Called Quest, D-12, Dizzy Wright, and ILL BILL, to rock group's like Linkin Park.

"The songs on this new album are extremely visual and I felt like the album cover needed to be an accompanying piece. I met Skam2 through Ill Bill a while back and had always dug his work," said Slaine. "I had an idea of what I wanted to do with the cover conceptually and thought he would be the perfect artist to execute it. He took the idea and ran with it. I love the results."

Throughout his musical career as a solo artist, or as a member of hip-hop supergroup La Coka Nostra, Slaine has always made his songs with a gritty, lyrical honesty. His latest autobiographical gorilla, "The King of Everything Else", is a cutting and revealing tell-all. If Behind The Music or E! True Hollywood Story dug this deep into an artist's psyche, they'd have to resurrect Kubrick to subdue all the madness. Slaine, meanwhile, navigates the chaos with impressive nihilistic gusto.
