Solo Gemini "Utwory Wybrane" (sprk003) is an amalgam of Polish cultural texts of the second half of the 20th century. Among the skilfully blended lo-fi rhythms of hip-hop, house and dub we can hear echoes of songs from the years 1960-1990, often accompanied by fragments of old radio recordings, concerts, films or literary texts (Baczyński's Drogi nocne in Droga Przez Las [Road Through the Woods], Gombrowicz's Ferdydurke in Pupa) and even a touch of memetic, quite contemporary classics (an embittered resident of a certain block on Marymoncka Street in Nie Ma Ciszy [There Is No Silence]). Solo Gemini set itself the ambitious task of combining all these source materials and transforming them into a completely new form - accessible, modern and functional. 'Utwory Wybrane' is a selection of dance sounds (Nie ma Ciszy, Majka), but also radio plays (Nigdy Więcej, Za Chwilę Dalszy Ciąg Programu). These are productions that can be successfully played in a club, but also allow you to sit comfortably in an armchair in front of your home HiFi. Imagine if you could put together a dream line-up of MCs and producers from all four corners of the rap world? That’s what artist and illustrator Gangster Doodles set out to do when he put together a stellar collection of tracks by the rappers and talent that inspire his work.

The all-star line-up features everyone from hotly-tipped emerging producers like Eets, Caleb Stone, Maze Mountain and LoVibe next to underground perennials like Onra, Mndsgn and Jon Wayne all the way up to top flight producer Kaytranada and established rap vets like Madlib, Oh No, Blu and Defari.

This second collaboration between All City Records and Gangster Doodles is a jam-packed sonic adventure featuring 27 killer tracks from some of the finest creators out there. Doodles had the idea for a comp two years ago. Hyped after partnering with All City for Knxwledge’s "Wraptaypes" project back in 2015, they initially set out to put together an EP but as the tracks kept coming in it exploded into the sprawling double LP of low-slung grooves and bangers from the best in the business.

With everyone on the record being a friend or friend of a friend, the comp just kept growing as GD went to work with the hustle he has learned from penning his post-it sketches day in day out for the last decade. Word spread fast and soon he was being sent beats from all over, even reaching behind the prison walls of Bergen County Jail, New Jersey and securing a track from former Dipset affiliate Max B.

The last few years have been busy for Marlon "Gangster Doodles" Sassy. He released his acclaimed Gangster Doodles (The Book) alongside an ever-expanding array of prints, original works, apparel and exhibitions across the globe. Topping that off with animation projects, a graphic novel in the works and now, with this LP titled " Gang$ter Music Vol 1", he is about to debut his first ever music compilation. He says himself: “Every time a new track came in it was like running down the stairs on Christmas morning to open a present. " I’ve started to work on this album before I knew it. During June 2018 I was in Japan for a month to release my previous album « Cairn » as well as my first solo exhibition of drawings in Tokyo.

Everyday on my way to the gallery I passed in front of the same building, its name kept haunting me.

Back then I was digging for cheap 80’s Japanese CD’s in second hand stores. Most of them set the tone of this album and the direction I wanted to follow. I feel there’s a direct connection between these original sources and the sound I pursue by their meditative aspect.

Most of the demo songs were done before my daughter’s birth on August 2019 and were finalized since then. Many of the titles refer to this main event and relate to how it changed my position in life : being a link through time by becoming a father. "

LA based rapper Kenji and Cologne based beatmaker Mr. Käfer joined forces to work on their first collaborative album "Afloat".

Although the two artists are separated by several miles, they experienced a very similar time during the creative process that gave inspiration and birth to this album. A time as if the days were just passing them by - It wasn’t until they finished the project that they noticed the track titles tell the story accurately. For example, the moments passing them by represented in the first track “Time.” Then on to “How It Go,” meaning things just are what they are sometimes.

Kenji in his own words: „I believe the titles and lyrics tell this chapter in my life perfectly and the instrumentals Mr. Käfer provided paint the picture perfectly. There wasn’t a direction for the project persay, it was more of a collection of similar vibes that came together in a cohesively.“

Washington Heights, NY rhyme duo Pearl Gates and Syll return with the second installment of their “Play This” series.
“Play This 2”, the full-length will drop via Below System Records and is the follow up to the first EP installment (which dropped back in 2016). “Play This” the EP’s narrative was introducing the listener to their hood from the heights to the dark underbelly. Being that Gates has been on several international tours following the first EP and Syll has been making moves as a songwriter for other artists, their worldview has grown since and is reflected on this album. As Gates says, “Play This 2” is “a collective story of our experiences and meant to take the listener on a journey with us. Bustling around in the shadows of buildings as high as mountains, an almost eerily overwhelming sense of contentment is omnipresent - but something doesn't appear to be right...
Stranded on a lonely island in the midst of a chaotic metropolis, disconnected - a feeling of drowning in an ocean of overstimulus and importunities of disproportionately inflated personalities, without ever even being registered or taken notice of.
What's left is nothing more than the ghost of a young soul, wandering about and curiously studying the surrounding, forever looking for answers that would otherwise seem trivial.

After “Kidsuke” the critically acclaimed collaboration project with Daisuke Tanabe, “Tokyorkshire” based producer kidkanevil continues his fascination with Japan and readies his latest solo album My Little Ghost. Inspired by a summer spent in Tokyo collaborating, exploring and generally refusing to grow up, the double vinyl is due May 2nd on Project: Mooncircle and features a wide range of guests including PMC's own submerse and Tokyo vocalist Cuushe.

'My Little Ghost' comes out worldwide on limited gatefold, double, pink vinyl (including download code) as well as a limited edition CD including a bonus track via flau records - http://www.flau.jp/ in Japan.

After the success of his previous releases, Amsterdam based Joe Kickass sets out to create a worthy follow-up to his ‘Mind Joe’ legacy. With this second LP, released on gold colored vinyl, Joe is taking Project: Mooncircle back to it’s legendary hip hop roots. The Average Joe kicks ass, indeed.
