The collective was formed by different groups or artists like Vertical Status (Dalu, Soul Sun & Malik Starr), Exstra Black Adishon (N-Tel & Natural), Verbale Unknown (Majestic & Rapster Funk), Vinyl Scavengaz (N-Tel, Majestic & Ant Live), Bless, M Squared, Shabazz and Philosophy.

The project was released on Most Entertainement Music Group which originally started as a management company in 1995 and became a record company in 1997. It was managed by two childhood friends named Dante R. Parham and D. Carlos Johnson from Petersburg, VA. Carlos Johnson was also known by the rap name KAY ILL who also features on the comp.

Intro is an American R&B group that emerged in the early 1990s. The group consisted of members Jeff Sanders, Clinton "Buddy" Wike, and lead vocalist/songwriter Kenny "G-Love" Greene. They gained popularity during the golden era of R&B and enjoyed success with their soulful harmonies and smooth ballads.

The album received critical acclaim and showcased their ability to deliver heartfelt ballads and merging R&B tracks over hip hop beats. The album was initially released by GoodVibe Records on June 19, 2001, with rights to the album eventually being acquired by Dreamworks Records. The label intended to re-release the album with five new songs, but Interscope Records consumed the label and all plans of re-releasing the album were shelved. On August 2, 2011, the album was re-released by Universal Music Group, to celebrate the album's tenth anniversary.

The album’s lead single "The Life" spent three months on the Bubbling Under Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart, where it reached number 9. It also peaked at number three on CMJ New Music Report's Hip-Hop airplay chart, and topped Billboard's Pacific Heatseekers chart.

Eventually, the album earned Mystic several accolades and award nominations. In 2001, Kludge magazine ranked it at number seven on their list of best albums of the year. In 2002, the album earned Mystic a nomination for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards, where she lost to Missy Elliott. That same year, the album cut "W" was nominated for "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration," a new category, at the Grammy Awards; the song lost to Eve's "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," a collaboration with Gwen Stefani.

The production on Eastbound is superior to most albums from the late 1990's. The "Nightfall" introduction is reminiscent of a Sade sound. Other songs like "The Block", "Scrilla", "Ride With Me" and "Niggas Be Hatin'" are solid hardcore gangster tales over laid back G-Funk Rhythms. Then there's tracks with versatile lyricism over being conveyed over dark and hard hitting gangster funk beats such as "Lyrical Twist", "Is There A Place", and "Valley Of Death". Let's not forget the mob style tale song's that even the women can get with like "Ballin'" and "Lover & Friend". There's also a club banger in "All Nite". This album is full of pure dopeness for you eardrums! We highly recommend this album to all Hip Hop enthusiasts.
