The underground hip-hop group Missin' Linx was led by Al Tariq (formerly the Beatnuts' Fashion) and also included Black Attack, and Problemz among its core ranks. Their debut single M.I.A. produced by Vic with the B-Side Lock’d, produced by Necro became an instant hit in the Hip Hop scene of the 90s. Using as sample from David McCallum called “The Edge” the song captured the ears of many fans and producers.

Everyone has heard Dr. Dre’s 2001, even if you aren’t a fan of rap music and the single “Next Episode” which was one of the most iconic songs of its decade. Before Dr. Dre released his version of the sample, another artist beat him to the punch. M.I.A. released by “Missin Linx” in 1998, almost a full year before Dr. Dre released his sample of the beat. The co-producer of the track, Mel Man frequently visited the Fat Beats LA store when the Missin Linx song was circulating.

The popular single is now available on seven inch for a limited time paying homage to the classic Hip Hop scene of the nineties.

Minneapolis' own Muja (formerly known as Muja Messiah) teams up with producer Dub Sonata for a collaborative album titled Break The Stereo. Spanning 11 tracks, the rapper-producer duo takes you on a journey from the Twin Cities to the Five Boroughs, calling on frequent collaborators Slug, Nejma Nefertiti, Nazeem (of Blood $moke Body), Bobby J From Rockaway, Tone Spliff, and Queensbridge legend Tragedy Khadafi to appear on the project. The variety of guest features and production onGUMBO!only elevates Siifu’s ability to push the boundaries of genre and song structure. “Voicemails Uptown” (produced by Soulection’s Monte Booker) is the second of two back-to-back posse cuts, sporting five plus vocalists each. “Lng hair dnt care,” the album’s first single, was produced by Ted Kamal, who first garnered attention for his outside-the-box edits of contemporary rap staples. And while several of the album’s tracks are well within his bag, the jazzy, drumless loop on “Fk U Mean/Hold Me Dwn” could’ve been a cut off of his collab album with Virginia rapper Fly Anakin,FlySiifu’s. Though rife with standout tracks,GUMBO!is greater than the sum of its parts. Siifu’s ambitious range and impressive pool of features create an otherworldly listening experience. Overall, it reflects an intense desire for self-expression and creative growth, one which he shares with many of his influences. Like Outkast, Sun Ra, Baraka, or Bad Brains, his unique soundscapes re-imagine a genre without restrictions, breaking new ground in search of artistic and personal freedom.

Bay Area beatmaker Nu Vintage has signed on with Cold Busted to transmit Vibrations In Color, a 14-track album displaying the many moods and hues of this multifaceted producer. Nu Vintage is known for his many Bandcamp digital 'beat tapes' as well as releases on Inner Ocean and Dezi-Belle Records. He builds on these past accomplishments to construct the new album, expanding the shades from his heady rhythm-jazz palette to new dynamic points in the spectrum. Vibrations In Color sonically glistens with a muted neon glow to accompany a slow midnight cruise through the naked city. "Good Company" encapsulates the nature of Nu Vintage, with dusty beats, melodic piano chimes, and the interplay between vibraphone, organ, and distant strings all making the case. The feel is warmly nostalgic as, faintly underneath the music, one hears what sounds like kids playing on a summer day. Sweetly pulsating Fender Rhodes piano and funk guitar join the vibraphone and organ sounds that epitomize the album, while tight drums and an uplifting bass line toughen the action. Wax Tailor announces the release of his new album "Fishing For Accidents" on February 10th, 2023, accompanied by a new international tour.
"The starting point of this record is a quote from the film director Orson Welles, which evokes the notion of accident in the creative process. I always thought that accidents were an integral part of creation and the job of a film or music director is also to know how to capture them in order to make the accident an artistic intention. I decided not to follow a well established concept but this more instinctive guideline and to go fishing for accidents".
In this new opus, Wax Tailor explores with his sampler a world of vinyls and cinematographic references, brandishing as a flag a stamped musical culture and multiplying references to the 7th art in a music written in 33 rpm and 24 images seconds. After the dark "The Shadow Of Their Suns" released in 2021, Wax Tailor takes us with "Fishing For Accidents", on a brighter and more colorful side without ever betraying his universe and his convictions.
A multi-recidivist talent scout, he gathers around him a prestigious cast ranging from hip hop (Mick Jenkins, Mr. Lif, Kuf Knotz, Lojii, Napoleon Da Legend, Ill Conscious, Voice Monet, David Bars, Mattic) to the indie rock scene (Jennifer Charles, singer of the legendary band Elysian Fields and Victoria Bigelow).

Wax Tailor finally returns after a long hiatus with his new album “By Any Beats Necessary”. The title references the Malcolm X phrase “By Any Means Necessary”, which was in turn inspired by Sartre’s play “Dirty Hands”. Without going too deep into politics, this reflects the will to use any type of sounds and textures to get to something musical. The word “Beat” also draws a line towards the Beat Generation, Kerouac’s famous “On The Road” novel, and this quest for a better elsewhere. And so, in this time when each of us needs a little escape, I conceptualized this album as a sort of soundtrack to a road trip among the great expanses.
Wax Tailor invited quite a few guests for his new opus. This time he actually convinced great artists to join him like Ghostface Killah, Tricky Charlotte Savary. Lee Fields, Sara Genn, R.A. The Rugged Man, A-F-R-O and Token, Raashan Ahmad and Mattic.

Jason Grimez is a Cincinnati-based DJ and producer. He has a long history of record collecting, sampling, and creating new sounds with analog gear. Grimez works with some of Cincinnati's finest studio musicians to create raw, soulful, instrumental hip-hop under the moniker Doctor Bionic. The next LP, In The Infinite, is due out 12/01/2023 via Chiefdom Records.Grimez fell in love with music during the golden era of early 90's east coast hip hop - when digging for jazz and funky samples were the backbone of beats. He became comfortable scratching on a pair of 1200s and sampling records with an MPC 3000 in high school. After years of collecting music and working on his sound behind the scenes, he has compiled a huge discography of original songs.In 2015, Grimez started his independent label Chiefdom Records. His studio persona Doctor Bionic was one of the first to see a release on the new imprint. The project features a studio band of session musicians. Grimez is responsible for writing, recording, producing, mixing, and releasing the records. He gathers a group of musicians in his studio, presents a few ideas, and hits record.Due to a rotating cast of musicians and ever-changing inspirations, no two sessions are alike. "There's no set pattern," Grimez explained. "I'll invite some session players and have them jam on a few ideas. Sometimes we'll start with a drum break and add melodies over top. Peter Manns came from Cambridge (Massachusetts) to the German banking capital . With careers spanning over a decade, both Wun Two and Made in M have left an indelible mark on the genre, pioneering its raw yet chill aesthetic. Wun Two, known for his signature lofi instrumental hip hop, has recently showcased his versatility through collaborations with acclaimed rappers such as Conway the Machine, Da Flyy Hooligan and Ben Beal and similarly Made in M who has garnered acclaim for his latest lofi house project, Flux LP, showcasing his prowess in creating genre crossing productions.

"Sole Spirito" marks the first full-length collaborative effort between the two producers, who have been long-time friends and mutual admirers of each other's work. Renowned for their distinctive contributions to the global lofi beat scene, Wun Two and Made in M, two of Germany’s most delicate producers, announce their collaborative album, "Sole Spirito," set to release on June 28th, 2024.

With careers spanning over a decade, both Wun Two and Made in M have left an indelible mark on the genre, pioneering its raw yet chill aesthetic.
Wun Two, known for his signature lofi instrumental hip hop, has recently showcased his versatility through collaborations with acclaimed rappers such as Conway the Machine, Da Flyy Hooligan and Ben Beal and similarly Made in M who has garnered acclaim for his latest lofi house project, Flux LP, showcasing his prowess in creating genre crossing productions.

"Sole Spirito" marks the first full-length collaborative effort between the two producers, who have been long-time friends and mutual admirers of each other's work. The album, comprising 18 tracks, was largely conceived during a songwriting producer camp in southern France in late summer 2023. It was there that they also crossed paths with L.A.-based rapper Yungmorpheus, who features on two of the album's tracks.

Kuniko is releasing her first 12"ep, expressing her own identity. The unique and new style, centered around the theme of "inheritance and creation," is being sent out to the world. During childhood, Kuniko sang at local festivals, learned piano and electone, and grew up surrounded by music. In 2009, she had a groundbreaking encounter with the influential figure Mala, a pioneer in the UK bass culture and dubstep scene. She also met DJ mentor Yama aka Sahib. Inspired by these experiences, she started her career as a DJ in Tokyo, expressing herself through music. In 2013, she relocated to her roots in Okinawa, where she established her base. There, she learned the traditional Okinawan art of singing and playing the sanshin from her mentor, Misako Ohshiro.
