In the early seventies, pianist Frans Elsen (1934-2011) and alto saxophonist Piet Noordijk (1932-2011) formed a unique septet to play funk jazz. Their material was never released and is now available on a double LP. In 1970, pianist Frans Elsen spent part of the summer in Norway. Inspired by the desolate surroundings and the small towns, he wrote and arranged a 'Norwegian cycle' that he performed with his brand new electric septet. A star-studded line-up: altoist Piet Noordijk, trumpeter Eddie Engels, guitarist Wim Overgaauw and drummer Eric Ineke were members of this unique band, which was highly innovative and forward-thinking in sound and concept. At the time, they never made a complete album. However, two brilliant studio sessions have been found over fifty years later, recorded for the European Broadcasting Union and Radio Nederland Wereldomroep. The septet can also be heard live on this album performing at the International Loosdrecht Jazz Festival (1972) and – in its original line-up as a sextet – in The Hague's Pepijn theatre. With liner notes by drummer Eric Ineke. The vinyl version is mastered in high resolution. It includes an exclusive bonus track: the piece Skabu in a big band version conducted by Frans Elsen and with Jan Huydts on electric piano.

SWE in collaboration with Dust & Dope are excited to announce the release of legendary Nola rapper/producer Ice Mike's debut "True 2 Da Game!" originally released back in 1992 on cassette only. All tracks were taken from the OG Dats to give you top notch quality. Let's get into the album a little deeper...



Fresh off the heels of producing for other New Orleans West Bank artists such as Bust Down and Mobo Records, “True 2 Da Game!” is the first full-length album from legendary New Orleans hip-hop pioneer Ice Mike. The follow-up to his 1991 debut as a solo artist is almost entirely self-produced (except for some co-production with DJ Lowdown & 8-ball The DJ). The writing, production, scratching, mixing, concepts, vocal and edit arrangements, piano and drum overdubs, and performances were all done by one man - Ice Mike. This feat is more impressive considering Ice Mike arranged and spliced the studio masters by hand with a razor blade and splicing tape, resulting in a level of mixing and editing that most couldn’t achieve until digital software was invented for computers.



The tracklist has been re-arranged and improved. An extra track has been added and the last 2 tracks of the original tracklist have been replaced. The love song "Good 2 U" and the shoutout outro "Atdasamtyme!" have been cut. Here's what Ice Mike had to say about "Good 2 U": "We were experimenting. I was the wrong artist to record it. Good song but, at the time I was recording all my ideas and back then i was trying to fill up the tape minutes as much as possible for the people with music in their mitsubishi trucks and somehow chose that one."



The Album also introduces Jr. Mack, Da Playa Bum & Kock Desil as "The Disturbed Young Hustlaz" on the the hard hitting "Still A WestBank Thang". This track received radio play back in the days and was used at live shows but never actually made it to an album due to street beef. "I Got Game" which originally was the B-Side of the "Doin' My Thang" 12" was added as well and then we have another previously unreleased gem called "Bad Attitude" which will surely please everyone.



From the raw raps on ‘Flow Down’ and ‘Bring Da Heat’, to the Pimptations-esque precursors ‘Fnalluslipnikkashoes’ and ‘Da Mack Game’, to the lyrically literal dope rhymes in ‘Man-N-Da-Hole’, “True 2 Da Game!” is an album packing a variety of concepts presented with polished analog production.



For the first time on vinyl, this edition will come housed in a beautiful gatefold edition and will be limited to only 250 copies. There will be 100 copies on transparent yellow vinyl and 150 copies on black vinyl.

Betty Davis was a musical maverick with vision. Image, substance, sex, and grit combined with a badass band that could deliver the funk bed backbone to the sultry music between the sheets. After cutting two notorious discs for the Just Sunshine label (Betty Davis and They Say I’m Different), and Nasty Gal for Island Records, Davis went to work on her most personal and expressive record yet. After capturing 10 hard-hitting tracks in 1976 at the remote Studio In The Country (Louisiana), a creative difference with her then label caused the platter to be unexpectedly shelved. Davis would cut one final album and soon retreat from the music business, completely disappearing from the public eye.

Is It Love Or Desire is a little-known gem in the Davis catalog. Mastered from the original tapes, and untouched for over 30 years, this release features detailed liner notes, the originally intended artwork housed in a lavishly packaged digipak, rare photos, archival material, and recent interviews with Davis and her skin-tight band Funk House.

Preservation. Destruction. His prayers and laments carry the thin smoke of both incense and excrement, of blood and saliva, mortal’s jewels, which we offer the gods we invent, both sacred and profane. The characters Tinti draws from the Greek myths; the muses, the slaves, enable ‘the actor’ to inhabit the essential struggle of what it is to be human, like a Noh play, doomed to repetition and the transcendence gained from it, to be human under the burning sun, which both gives life and destroys. Tiamat have been one of Sweden's oddities for the last two decades, ranging from synth-rock to gothic metal to death metal, there's something for pretty much any fan of dark music to enjoy. However, 2003's Prey marks something of a return to form, sounding something like a cross between Wildhoney and Skeleton Skeletron. Specifically, the album is fairly diverse, with a smattering of influences and styles, but the majority of the songs are gothic rock or gothic metal, with the remaining songs falling under either ballads or interludes. Johan Edlund employs the deep, crooning, clean baritone delivery he's used since A Deeper Kind of Slumber, and it works remarkably well, creating a suffocatingly depressive atmosphere with his deep tone and the desperate, almost hopeless quality of his voice. Occasionally, in lighter songs such as "Clovenhoof", and to a lesser extent, "Wings of Heaven", his croon takes more of a sultry tone, seductive rather than hopeless, although there's still a hint of desperation present. His performance is also aided by vocalist Sonja Brandt on the songs "Divided" and "Carry Your Cross and I'll Carry Mine". Her tone is light and clear, presenting a very innocent, sweet, and slightly sultry delivery, providing an interesting contrast to Edlund, and overall making an excellent addition to the album. The duet on "Divided" is especially good, with a short dialogue passage that's deliciously evil and hopeless. This album comes out in deluxe gatefold edition, in two colors (Gold / Red) 500 limited edition each.

A catalogue such as Beat Records’ one, with its roots in the 60s may have a difficult logistic. I still remember when passing through Viale Medaglie D’Oro with my mother Luciana who was used to point me a building’s apartment located in the corner with Via Elio Donato. A bit moved she was used to tell me that Beat was born in those four walls, a small house with a beautiful terrace full of vases. Since that time Beat Records changed many times head quarter up to moving to Via Filippo Nicolai 16 from the late 80s up to nowadays. Such a company catalogue, sensibly grown during 55 years of life, was always needing more space and so, recently, we decided to find a new place where to agglomerate various storages spread through Rome. What does all the above things have to do with They Call Him Trinity? A lot, since while we were archiving some tapes in order to prepare our forthcoming transfer, we found them. Six 24tracks master tapes belonging to the original recording session. Priceless material stored in crates in a corner, still there to be archived since a preceding moving. A brief e-mail exchange with our co-publishers of Carosello, a meeting in Milan with Adriana Branchini and Dario Giovannini, to get their support and we proceeded with this recovery project. And we are close to end of the year, as Cirano De Bergerac was used to say, at the end of the rhyme. The first release of this score is dated January 1971, this 2021 December the 50th year will expire, no better chance to sanctify the party! With all due precautions we transferred the tapes and organized a remastering session in Trafalgar studios, Enrico De Gemini experience, responsible of West catalogue, guided the recovery and restoration. Surprise weren’t late, the recording was perfect, the crisp sound could be remastered in a brilliant stereo. One of the most beloved Western soundtrack of all times is going to live a second youth with a great dynamic, not saturated, that lets us enjoy this delicious dessert, able to feel on our tongue the various ingredients and still tasting the mixed amazing resulting effect. And there is a lot of unreleased material, an amazing deguello version featuring a trumpet instead of the flugelhorn, a beautiful alternate version of Di Fronte Ai Killers, of Un Cowboy e Due Ragazze and a lot of unreleased takes of Trinity’s Valley in which Franco De Gemini harmonica is prominent. We have our 50th anniversary edition on a 180 grams colored vinyl, mastering by Enrico De Gemini, graphic Layout by Daniele De Gemini. We have also an official presentation which will be held at Music Day Roma (c/o Hotel Mercure Rome West – Via degli Eroi di Cefalonia 301 – Rome – Spinaceto) on Saturday 11 December with Maestro Franco Micalizzi presenting the CD and the LP with other guests related to the movie. Back in 1998 Abdominal released his debut album "Ab Flex" on tape only. He sold most of his tapes out of his knapsack back then as you did in the 90's, true backpack rap! This was where it all started for Ab, who became known as one of the best rappers and freestylers ever to come out of Canada and often collaborated with DJ Format in the years to come.

A while ago Ab found 63 original tapes in his dad's basement and headz jumped on those like crazy. Now HHE is extremely proud to announce our collabo with Ab to bring you this amazing piece of work on both CD and Vinyl as well.

Not only will you get the original 9 tracks, no... we will add 6 more previously unreleased bonus tracks from these sessions! To make it even more special we have included an insert with extra info AND we hooked up with known local Toronto illustrator and artist Kagan McLeod (a personal friend of Abdominal) who updated the front cover entirely making this not only an album but a limited piece of art as well!

All tracks remastered by Justin Perkins and the vinyl will be limited to 300 copies total in 3 versions.

Reed Whistle & Sticks was released in 1972 in a decade of transition for experimental composer Anthony Moore. Two years after the the album, his bands Henry Cow and Slapp Happy would merge briefly for a run of cult-favourite avant-garde records and swiftly detangle. A year after that, in 1976, he released his fourth solo record Out - its pop sensibilities, albeit avant-inclined, a chasm apart from the raw experimentation of Reed Whistle & Sticks.
