Simoncino is back on the iconic label that launched his career: Skylax Records. In the meantime, he has become a benchmark artist in particular for his passion, his extreme mastery of analog material and his ability to craft dream like soundscapes and mystical house atmospheres; who has seen him collaborate in recent years with the biggest names in house: Larry Heard, Boyd Jarvis, Tevo Howard and Robert Owens on excellent labels such as Lies, Vibraphone, Crème organization, Hotmix or Mathematics. For this new release, the fruit of a maturation of several months in his studio, the made in Perugia prodigy has once again surrounded himself with the master of chicago house, the legendary Merwyn Sanders of Virgo Four (who already appeared as a remixer on the Warrior Dance part 4 in 2012 on Skylax) on vocals. Its inimitable style is a clever mix of chicago house tinged with the most classy techno touches, “on the dance floor” will delight both fans of the purest house but also those who are also followers of the original techno made in detroit. A mix brilliantly revealed by the golden voice of Merwyn Sanders. On the B-side, the pair reward us with a high-end remix signed by the brilliant and bulimic producer from La Hague, the furious madman Danny Wolfers aka Legowelt. To conclude, the title In Viaggio reminds us how much Simoncino is also able of creating real house bombs that send us straight into the stratosphere.

Argentinian producer Thissperso has been living in Barcelona for a good season while producing music that reflects what he experiences in his day to day life. His productions are harsh and violent, but they have a quality and energy that makes them contagious and addictive. This work, edited by NNY Records, compiles some old songs that have been revisited and remastered, which coexist with new compositions that continue to explore the most visceral and dark side of electronics. This is the work of a producer who is not tied to any style and who enjoys setting the dancefloor on fire when one of his songs is played. Producers like Parris Smith have already been able to verify it in the first person with a couple of songs from this new EP in which we find Electro mixed with Industrial, EBM, Acid and a punk and nonconformist attitude.

The way that "Mietin Minne Meet" washes along the break between tight and clean, upbeat indiepop melancholia and a nostalgic power-pop-punk sound—that is specifically Scandinavian in its nuance here—brings me back to that heart-in-throat wonderment I felt the first time I heard (and fell in love with) Teini-pää's tunes. Lyrically the record spends most of its time in its own head, trying to work through some shit—which makes a whole lot of sense when you learn that the band name translates to "Teen Head"—and Renata Rojo's artwork reflects this theme flawlessly.

"In 1978 I started making experimental home recordings with my old schoolfriend Alan Clark. We both had Akai 4000ds reel-to-reels, which made for easy swapping of locations and ideas. We would meet most evenings to record – for the best part of two years. Much of the music on this tape comes from those experiments.

Some of my solo pieces on this cassette were on a compilation cassette I made for my friend Brad Day, who in 1979 was working at Beggars Banquet record shop in Earl's Court. He happened to be playing it in the shop when co-manager Peter Kent walked in and asked who it was. From that I was offered a 7" release on the Axis label Peter was starting with his colleague Ivo Watts-Russell, and my first gig was organised at Mayhem Studio in Battersea, supporting Vice Versa. With another schoolfriend, Steve Player on guitar and Stylophone 350s, my 16-year-old brother Peter Knight on backing tapes and backing vocals, and me on Vcs3 and vocals, we put a set together within a week. The filmmaker John Maybury projected Super-8 films over us at the gig, and suggested we call ourselves The Fast Set – as all three of us were rooted static to the spot with nerves. The name stuck, and it now seems appropriate to retrospectively apply that name to our previous untitled endeavours.

This cassette release is a 'patchwork' I constructed back in 1980 of the late-70s home recordings – both solo or with Alan. There were two projects back then – the experimental pieces, and the electronic 'pop' songs. This release consists of the former, which I feel age has been kinder to. The tapes had remained untouched for over 40 years until I baked and transferred them recently, so please excuse the hiss, distortion, pops, crackles, and wobbles, as I wish to maintain the integrity and home-made feel of the original recordings." – David Knight, London, 10 January 2024.

London-based musician David Knight has been a member of/worked with: The Fast Set, Five Or Six, Shock Headed Peters, Left Hand Right Hand, Arkkon, The Amal Gamal Ensemble, The Stargazer's Assistant, and Lydia Lunch. He wrote and recorded with Danielle Dax throughout the 1980s, and currently works with Stephen Thrower (Coil, Cyclobe) in UnicaZürn.

Recorded between 1978 and 1980 in Battersea, London on an Akai 4000ds and later a Teac 3300sx. Instruments used: EMS Vcs3, Roland System 100, Hohner K4 String Machine, Dubreq 350s, Piano, Guitar, Percussion, Roland Re201 Space Echo, Colorsound Ring Modulator, EHX Small Stone Phaser, Ibanez Standard Fuzz. Where the previous 184 & Big Toast album was a bluntly worded denunciation of the zeitgeist over a classic Hip Hop soundtrack, Who Shit in The Sandpit takes a sonic direction more akin to 184’s Trip-Hoppy electronic-folk collective, Button Eyes. With more

melodious production and a greater range in the vocal tones and styles of delivery, it sees the duo step outside of their comfort zones and attempt something less restricted by the confines of their genre. The title is an abstract and Toast-esque expression referring to how the world the next generation stand to inherit (the Sandpit) is being destroyed by the greed and stupidity of older generations (the shit). It is at least a partial departure from the nihilistic and misanthropic themes on previous projects, perhaps a consequence of Toast’s desire to leave a better world for his firstborn, who arrived during the making of the project. While no album which closes on a track about a nuclear holocaust can be described as light, Who Shit in the Sandpit? has moments of real humour, providing comic relief from the more pointed social and political statements elsewhere. Fellow Tuff Boy, The Strange Neighbour, joins Toast on “Anyone Order a Tough Guy?”, a verbal skewering of wannabe hardmen, and the offensively absurd “F.W.L.”. Sometime Sleaford Mods vocalist John Paul contributes his own unique brand of observational poetry to “Backpack” and Croydon’s Breezy Lee elevates every track she features on with her sumptuously soulful vocals. Halo Jones adds the finishing touches with his distorted guitar riffs,

providing further musicality to an already boundary- pushing Hip Hop album.

We Jazz Records continues their 7" series with a new release by Oaagaada, a fresh quartet from the rural parts of Southern Finland. "Oag-ada / A Swimming Trip" appears on 30 October and presents the band's ability to create fiery and flowing jazz music with strong avantgarde leanings. Think Art Ensemble Of Chicago on their groovy mode and add a strong DIY mentality, four people in a room creating music in the now. The lows are low and the highs are high, with the trumpet firmly on the red, adding just the right amount of blurriness into the picture. Perhaps it's not "lo-fi jazz" per se, but rather music which is more concerned with other things than the cleanest of hi-fi imagery. This is "real jazz for real people".

The quartet includes Tuure Tammi (trumpet), Sami Pekkola (sax), Tero Kemppainen (bass) and Simo Laihonen (drums). Laihonen has recently appeared on We Jazz Records with Stanley J. Zappa and previously with Black Motor, and more Oaagaada can be heard on the recent "We Jazz Live Plates" album "Lonna 2019".

True to We Jazz style, the 7" single comes with old school heat-pressed labels and a plain brown paper sleeve.

Er setzte sich sofort ans Klavier. "Das ist bei uns immer so", sagt Oliver. "Ich singe was, und Carsten fängt an zu spielen." Sie reimten "House" auf "Mouse" und "Everbody's missing" auf "Handshakes, hugs and kissing". Zwei Sängerinnen aus Hamburg bildeten einen Chor, in dem man auf der Stelle Mitglied werden möchte, die Orchester-Begleitung kam aus dem Midi, und fertig war der Song: Corona Forever, Forever Corona Oliver Polak ist Entertainer, Schriftsteller und Gastgeber mehrerer Fernsehsendungen. Singen kann er auch, seine Stimme liegt irgendwo zwischen Barry White und Barry Manilow. Bekannt geworden ist er als deutsch-jüdischer Comedian mit einem ausgeprägten Hang zur Grenzüberschreitung. Doch wenn man seinen Corona-Song hört, wird schnell klar, dass dieses Lied kein Witz ist. Es beschreibt das lähmende Gefühl der Isolation und der Unsicherheit, das die letzten Monate geprägt hat und das wohl auch so schnell nicht wieder verschwinden wird. Corona Forever, Forever Corona. Es ist kein Zufall, dass er dabei klingt wie der Sänger einer deutschen Synthiepop-Band aus den Achtzigern, die auf den internationalen Markt schielt. Damals hatte man keine Angst vor Pathos, und auch Oliver kennt keine Scheu vorm großen Gefühl, auch wenn es verwundbar macht. "Corona Forever" ist Clubhit und Schmusesong in einem. Der Zustand der Unsicherheit und der Hilflosigkeit wird von einem Refrain aufgehoben, der sich ausbreitet wie eine kuschelige Decke. Eine Decke, unter der die ganze Menschheit Platz hat. When Upset The Rhythm released Normil Hawaiians’ lost album ‘Return Of The Ranters’ back in 2015, the band members got back in touch with each other after a 30 year break and starting playing music together again. Out of this the group played a launch show for the album and followed that up with more concerts, including an appearance at Supernormal, a residency at the Edinburgh Festival, gigs at Cafe OTO and supporting Richard Dawson in London too. They even recently toured Greece in support of having all three of their renowned exploratory post-punk albums finally back in print.

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Co., Ltd. presents a worldwide project with the theme “Join the PAC – Come and join us” to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Pac-Man ’s birth.

The memorable 40th anniversary official theme song “JOIN THE PAC” was produced by ‘Ken Ishii’, the techno god of the Orient. The video clip of his masterpiece “Extra” (directed by Koji Morimoto also known as the drawing director of the movie “AKIRA”) was awarded “MTV Dance Video of the Year” in UK, which brought him as one of Japan’s most proud producers to the world.

A special music video for “JOIN THE PAC” is directed by Yuichi Kodama, who is renowned as a chief video director of flag handover ceremony at the 2016 Rio Olympics closing ceremony, and his “UNICLOCK” online ad campaign (2008) for UNIQLO, which won grand-prix of three biggest advertisement awards, the Cannes International Advertising Awards, the Clio Awards, and the One-Show.

Prior to the release of the upcoming album, 7inch EP is released by the collaboration of iam8bit and U/M/A/A Inc. exclusively for RSD2020!
