One half of legendary electro duo Synapse with John Selway (who he co-runs the equally-esteemed Serotonin imprint with), BPMF has been churning out no-nonsense electro smangers and experimental techno since the early 90s. Currently he holds the title of Eastern Pennsylvania’s premier live-PA electro dad while also running his own label, Schmer. Various Jawns is exactly that; four varied jawns packed on one plate. ‘Tell Mommy Bye’ is an electro ripper in the true American lineage while ‘Trunq’ and ‘J’pn’ are lighter, more noodling affairs. This plate’s entrée, ‘House of Jawn’, is a fourteen-minute knob-twiddling trip through the twisted fever dream of a raver long past. Thankfully our esteemed producer has given us a respite from the beatdown about halfway through. Drop the needle there to start the adventure at the Lower House of Jawn if brevity is your thing, man.

Tresor is proud to present the debut split 12" from Chloe Lula and Ireen Amnes. Meeting in the darker, harder-edged side of the
Berlin techno scene in 2019, the pair have regularly collaborated and performed together, but Synergy marks the first time
they've shared a record sleeve. Amnes describes Synergy as "the world we built while thinking about our journey as friends and
the connection we share as people and artists," and while the record highlights their relationship and shared influences, it also
showcases how each has grown into their respective lane.
Amnes' tracks lean into significantly more distorted territory, characterized by a dense fog of grainy pads punctured by sharp,
expertly-programmed percussion. On "Our Bodies," these fragments are sculpted into driving hardware gear, replete with distant
vocals and acidic squelches, where "Fragments of Desire" makes space for a more somber attitude, descending into murky,
psychedelic electro.
In counterpoint to Amnes' deep atmospherics, Lula's contributions are driven by intricate sound design and a focus on dancefloor
impact. Taking cues from Regis and the Birmingham techno sound, she reins in the distortion of 2021's Errant Bodies for
aufnahme + wiedergabe in favor of rolling techno and breakbeat-inspired rhythms that nod to her EBM influences. Making use of
the extra space, she builds tension through heaving, textured basslines and crescendos of noise, and on EP closer "Event
Horizon," she carves through the beat with her own metallic vocals.
Synergy includes a digital bonus track from each artist. Lula's sees her pushing deeper into finely-tooled techno territory, her
drums at a swift, driving gallop, surrounded by ominous swaths of reverb. In contrast, Amnes crafts a gritty warehouse trip,
sharpening the angles of her drums and detuning her synths until they sound bent and alien. Complete with the EP's physical
cuts, these tracks are a testament to how the pair can simultaneously complement and contrast with each other, departing from
their shared sonic origins and ending up in wildly di
erent destinations.

It's an album of wistful reminiscence, but also of knowing that things are exactly how they should be, a dreamlike landscape of moments, sounds, impressions and hopes.

Dee Ervin suffered collateral damage from GRC/Aware’s bankruptcy. He only got to release two mediocre sides on Hotlanta but these recordings match anything he created in a successful career throughout the 60s & 70s.

By 1974 he was as much a composer as artist, but he excels at both on these two numbers that were fully produced and ready for release. ‘You Make Me Happy’ is a terrific uptempo dance track that recently featured on Cdkend 512 “Masterpieces Of Modern Soul; Vol 6”.

‘Give Me One More Day’ was issued erroneously in 1975 as a Tribe LP track on ABC, but the session details clearly have it as a Dee Ervin recorded number.

We were blown away by Albeit Records' first release, a killer EP of previously unheard archive cuts from long serving machine abusers Activ-Analog. For release number two, the Bristol-based label has decided to flip the script, offering up a three-track salvo from up-and-coming producer Ismael Zouaoui. The Berlin artist goes straight for the jugular with "No Mercy", wrapping chilling melodies, booming sub-bass and drunken deep space chords around a kick-drum dominated rhythm track, before successfully breaking up the beats on the wonderfully deep-but-punchy "Cheaper". Arguably best of all, though, is B-side "Point Reyes", an impeccable exercise in intergalactic IDM that's blessed with some deliciously jazzy hybrid electro/broken techno beats.

There is still something so enticing about a limited run techno 12" with nothing but the track titles to accompany it. It feels old school and business like, where the focus is on the music, and the music in the case of this one from A3K on Albeit is superb. 'Rizumu' takes up the whole A-side and is a mix of volatile bass energy and controlled kick drum grooves that keeps things moving but with emotional nuance in the sustained chords up top. 'Left Blank' is a dusty and dubby cut with analogue percussion dancing through the arrangement but the closer is our pick. 'Daily Schemes' is a light and airy house dancer with neat chords and squelchy effects. Perfect back room tackle.

Each body of work representing a lifetime reflecting on and celebrating homoerotic desire and romantic sensibility, Socarras’ intimate love poems and Odom’s evocative drawings are beautifully juxtaposed in this elegantly designed book. Straddling the sensual and the archetypal, the contemporary and the classical, poetry and art join forces in exploring the mystery and wonder of Eros, affirming that same-sex desire has lived before even as it flourishes now. Jorge Socarras is known for his 1970s collaboration with pioneering synthesizer musician Patrick Cowley as the duo Catholic, as singer-frontman of the 1980s avant-rock group Indoor Life, and as half of the ongoing musical duo Fanatico. He was also cofounder of the Silence=Death Collective, the Aids activist group that in 1987 created the eponymous poster design and slogan. Mel Odom’s award-winning art has graced numerous book covers and magazines since the 1970s, has been the subject of two books, and has been exhibited in galleries and art institutions, including in collaboration with gay literary icon Edmund White. The Archeology of Eros is the first creative collaboration between longtime friends Socarras and Odom. A portion of sales proceeds will go to the Visual Aids organization.
