Ice T is the original embodiment of LA Hip-Hop and a cultural icon who helped popularize gangster rap. Ice-T's Crime Stories features some of the most powerful songs from his catalog, as well as some lesser-known and previously unreleased material. Through his music, his books, and his lecture tours of America's prisons, high schools, libraries, and colleges (including Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford), Ice T has become an influential spokesman for America's youth, regardless of color. His first break came when the producers of the film Breakin' asked him to rap in the movie. He went on to become rap music's preeminent gangster, writing songs like "Six in the Mornin" and "New Jack Hustler." Ice T formed Rhyme Syndicate Records in 1989 and released a string of groundbreaking West Coast rap records. His 1991 self-titled debut contained the controversial single "Cop Killer." Body Count was the most critically acclaimed act on the highly successful 1991 Lollapalooza tour. Ice T currently stars in NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Detective Odafin Tutuola. For three seasons in 2012/2013 Ice and his wife, Coco, starred in the E! reality show Ice Loves Coco. As an author, he has released four books, the first being The Ice Opinion (1994), following that there was Ice: A Memoir of Gangster Life and Redemption-from South Central to Hollywood (2011), a fictional tale entitled Kings of Vice (2013) and Split Decision with his longtime friend Spike (2022). In Jan 2012, Ice's directorial debut, "Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap," played at the Sundance Film Festival. In Sept 2012, he produced the documentary Iceberg Slim: Portrait of a Pimp, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2013. In 2017, he produced and starred in Who Shot Biggie & Tupac for FOX. A new Body Count album garnered a 2018 Grammy nomination. He also produced and hosted Ice Cold Murder for Oxygen.

Whatever you see in that town won't readily prepare you for the music they wrote while there, but you're free to look."Most everyone who's in a group who's our age lives on the Internet," says guitarist Matt Pulos. Surya is a project from Rome formed by Joe Casagrande, Matthew Mountford and Roberto Lycke. Born in 1995 with consistent dub roots influenced with breaks and ethnic music samples. The duo was quite active in the Roman scene in the late '90s, collaborating with clubs like GOA, Brancaleone, MCA and playing with seminal groups like ORB and Loop Guru. "Wide Tuning" is Surya's first record, an extremely unique debut that goes beyond dance music boundaries. Self-produced in 1997 and released only on cd until now.

"Everything is only transition": this is the name of Max Rieger's new album. One can regard this as an artistic credo, as a self-description, as an aesthetic programme. With Max Rieger it has always been like this; everything has always been in transition: in becoming, in flow. For more than a decade, he has been one of the most influential artists in German pop, more versatile and inventive than almost anyone else. With his group Die Nerven, he has given electrically amplified guitar rock in this country a new shape and a new edge. Die Nerven have released five albums since 2012, most recently their black album in 2022, dark, hard, at the same time nihilistic and ironic music, borne of great wisdom and knowledge of the wisdom of the primitive. Max Rieger is also a great creator of sound, he is someone who knows how to refine music and ideas, who lets himself be inspired as much as he inspires. For a whole generation of young artists, he has become an important, formative partner and mentor, as a producer and as a supportive songwriter. He produced the album "Alles war schön und nichts tat weh" for Casper 2022, worked with Mia Morgan, Stella Sommer, Ilgen-Nur, Jungstötter and Drangsal and most recently with the legendary noise pioneers Swans. If you want to gauge the true greatness of Max Rieger, you - admittedly - have to listen to his solo albums, which he releases under the name All diese Gewalt. "Kein Punkt wird mehr fixiert" was the name of the solo debut in 2014, since then two more albums have been released, the majestically soft "Welt in Klammern" in 2016 and the cool "Andere" from 2020. "Alles ist nur Übergang" is now his fourth work as All diese Gewalt, it continues the great lines of Rieger "s work and yet raises his art to a new level: his music has never sounded so organic, so floating, so seemingly effortlessly played along and at the same time intense, with an improbable feeling for dramaturgy, for the right balance between letting the sounds drift and the sudden break that changes everything.

The year is 1989. Techno’s second generation has begun to permeate the globe leading a young Carl Craig to a tiny village in the countryside of Belgium. It is here, undistracted and determined to break out, that Craig encounters one of the country’s only drum machines, an Alesis controlled midi-808. In a single session he composes and mixes a handful of records that are still to this day regarded as some of his most raw and explosive contributions to the fabric of electronic music history.

Carl revisits this fateful chapter through the lens of a famed cut from his Psyche alias ‘From Beyond’, with a ‘C2 2023 Mix’ and remixes from Seth Troxler, Ataxia and Admn, out July 14 on Planet E Communications.

The Psyche alias, known for early Transmat releases like ‘Crackdown’ and ‘Elements’, embodied a stripped back, less sample based yin attitude to the yang of Carl’s more aggressive 69 and sample-forward BFC and Paperclip People identities. ‘From Beyond’, first released in 1990 via the ‘Crackdown’ 12” on Transmat, offers an eerie glimpse into the simplistic production that came through Carl’s mastery of the 808 and the sonic value of restricting himself to this movement defining tool.

This new ‘From Beyond’ package sees Carl lift and bend the original in his ‘C2 2023 Mix’ alongside a package of remixes from artists near to the hearts of Detroit and the Planet E fold. Seth Troxler brings a subdued acid tinge to the package, while label regular Ataxia pays homage to the source material with a renewed percussive energy, followed by a soulful rework by Admn.

Whether it be through the 30 year repertoire of his seminal Planet E, his Party / After-Party sound and light installation now on display at Los Angeles’ MOCA, or his continuous work as a champion of Black-led creativity, the Carl Craig mission remains the same: to always rep Detroit and be the realest mutha f***a alive.

This is one of the first Chilean rock albums recorded in Spanish. "Boots a Go Go" (1966) by Beat 4 is released now on vinyl, from the original IRT masters! Los Beat 4 (Santiago de Chile, 1966) began as the partnership of four childhood friends: brothers Mario and Willy Benitez, Johnny Paniagua and Reinaldo Rhino Gonzalez. Under the influence of the Beatles, the Kinks and the Animals, they formed Los Electrones, a group with which they played at school parties and various meetings, following the style of the New Wave. Around 1966, and after the explosion of the beat rhythm in our country with the arrival of the Beatles, they decided to change their name to Beat 4 and sing in Spanish. In 1967, backed by the wide radio diffusion of their single "Llora conmigo" (a Spanish version of an Italian pop song), they toured throughout the country. The band's second hit came with the jingle "Dame un Bananino", composed to promote a banana-flavored ice cream. The song was released as an EP, was a great success and took them on tour to the main beaches of Chile. They would later replicate the model with the song "Ta ta ta ta", as simple and catchy as the previous one. The Beat 4's career was short but intense and popular. At the beginning of the 70's they had already released four LPs, and since then they began to incorporate their own compositions. When Willy Benítez left the band, Tilo Mandiola replaced him, but soon after, the Beat 4 decided to leave. Willy Benítez entered the theater school of the Catholic University, to later begin a career as a humorist in television programs such as "El festival de la una". Clear Blue Vinyl Edition Gatefold Cover and Brand New Artwork! “Murderock - Uccide a passi di danza” (internationally released as “Murder Rock” is a thriller/horror 1984 film directed by legendary Lucio Fulci about a dance school in which a mysterious murderer kills female students with a long pin. Its soundtrack was entrusted by the producers to Keith Emerson, another incredible artist, a virtuoso keyboardist and composer. In those early 1980s, having temporarily shelved the prog-rock experience of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Keith Emerson launched a solo career that led him to compose a number of soundtracks, including “Inferno” (1980), “Nighthawks” (1981) and, then, “Murderock”: here we have an energetic mix of 80s pop/rock anthems, perfectly in line with the sounds of the time, dressed with baroque and magniloquent arrangements that make the whole result extravagant and eccentric, almost impossible to classify and consequently unique. The most ‘straightforward’ and least extravagant tracks are “Tonight Is The Night”, “Streets To Blame” and “Not So Innocent”, sung by special guests Doreen Chanter and Mike Sheppard. “Murderock” has become a cult title among genre film fans over the years, and is here reissued on the occasion of Black Friday 2023 in a new clear blue vinyl version with gatefold sleeve and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano. The last four tracks - Murderock (Part 1-4) - are released on vinyl for the first time ever. Artwork by Eric Adrian Lee.

The first solo excursion on Half Grand Records comes from label boss, Jon Doppler. Clocking in at 37 minutes, this collection plays more like a mini album than a 12”.

The Artifact is full of the cavernous electro vibes that Doppler hinted at on the previously released compilations from the label. And if this record is an Artifact, it belongs at the bottom of the Mariana Trench with its alien percussion and deep, fluid bass.

It’s hard to pick a favorite as any one of these tracks would add atmosphere and color to a set. “Sapphire” sounds like it would perfectly underscore the discovery of an ancient Atlantean civilization. While Tar Like Gold’s driving, arpeggiated basslines and vocal samples “tomorrow holds the key” look to the future.

Take a listen and see for yourself, there’s a lot to love on this one.

‘Albino Sound concocts textual delights in shades of metal on his forthcoming EP for Turnend Tapes.

The ‘Metallurgy’ EP forthcoming on Turnend Tapes sees Japanese artist Hirotaka Umetani transmit four club orientated tracks through a UK bass lens, delineating from past musical excursions and so marking a turning point of his works. Indicative of this shift is the vast and varied sources of inspiration Hirotaka has tapped into in creating ‘Metallurgy’. Translating visual into sound through Hirotaka’s own experience, bare witness to granular detail made macro through swathes of sound design kinetically akin to the flurry of mineral-rich hot water springs, seething in chemical harmony.

Entwining impressions of the past with forecasts of the future Hirotaka deftly connects the dots between the sounds stemming from the alchemy of metal and it’s interplay with the natural environment as we proceed ever closer to organic-synthetic assimilation.’
