Burnski's Pilot label fires up the back burners once again here for some cruising tech house that oozes cool. Robin Graham is the man on the machines and his 'Like This" (Italo Summer mix) kicks off with some subtle prog vibes, a throwback bassline and bubbly synths that percolate through the mix to soothing effect. 'Set Me Free' has glistening and silvery hi-hats and a choppy groove with some big stabs and 'Enter 1' is the sort of cut you want to hear at the afters with its trippy melodic details and deft synth sequences dancing about the mix. 'Subject A' is a driving tech house number with plenty of astral synth sounds and fresh future feels.

Multi-talented artist Poppy Ajudha will be announcing her sophomore album, titled ‘Poppy’, which will be released 22nd November 2024. Alongside the announcement of her upcoming album, Poppy has also released new single ‘Lean On Me’, a bold pop banger about the importance of community and showing support for each other even during challenging moments. ‘Lean On Me’ was written by Poppy with production from Wesley Singerman (Kendrick Lamar/Anderson Paak).

On ‘Lean On Me’, Poppy says: “We realise true friendship in the moments we are most vulnerable with each other. When I wrote ‘Lean On Me’ I was going through a breakup and struggling to make sense of my world. My friend who was experiencing their own kind of grieving found the time to give me the advice I needed, and the next day I wrote this song about the power of friendship, community, unconditional love and showing up for each other through our hardest times.”

Mal-One’s new five track 12’’ offering has broached the tender subject of the bedroom wall and what as a teenager we would cover it with, as we revelled in our teenage glory. During what we now fondly remember as the Punk Rock period, this would have been the promo posters, gig tickets, flyers, badges, t- shirts anything we could find to extend our allegiance to the Punk Rock cause. 2. JJ’s Alright relates a true story of Mal-One’s run in with the Euroman Cometh himself and finding out first hand that even if his band The Stranglers were to become Punk’s social outcasts that in fact JJ was Alright and so in fact was Hugh….

1. The Buzz-Cocks Are Coming tells the Buzzcocks connection to this movement and their entry point into the affray.

2. Damned Disciple tells what is required to become a Damned devotee. Which includes amongst other requirements and as stated on one of their early badges ‘skipping off school to see them play’.

3. The Satellite Kid tells the engaging story of Mr Paul Weller coming to London seeing the Sex Pistols for the first time at the Lyceum Ballroom on The Strand. In doing so he found some likeminded souls and more importantly people the same age that he could relate to and forge an identity with.

The bedroom wall and what to cover it with has always been a dilemma through the ages as we revelled in our teenage / rebellious glory. Posters, flyers, ticket stubs badges tour programmes and record sleeves. Items we gathered, begged and stole were carried home after sweaty nights in clubs and pubs. Tape and blu tack in hand we tried to find a place to add our new additions.

I always thought it would be great to show the Punk Rock items of what I call ‘the class of ‘76’ groups I had gathered over the years in a bedroom setting. Each room could have a different theme. Blondie, Buzzcocks, The Clash, The Damned, Generation X, The Jam, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Stranglers, and maybe a mixed Punk Room with all the above and some smaller bands to fill out the story.

Maybe I could then put all that in a book to show the beauty of it all. So I did and here it is. I hope all this madness might bring back some fond memories for you as you flick through these pages.

Last Of A Kind” was, last year, more than just a “comeback album” for PANZERCHRIST. Right, it was a whole decade since the release of their previous record “7th Offensive”, but the Danes came back with a vengeance in their eighth offering. New blood joined the hardcore duo of the lineup (bassist and keyboardist Michael “Panzergeneral” Enevoldsen and guitarist Frederik O’Carroll), most notably vocalist Sonja Rosenlund Ahl, whose malicious tone fitted like a glove the newfound black/death metal style of the band.Not surprisingly, the critics loved “Last Of A Kind”, as well as the fans and, after the release, Panzerchrist played several festival shows in Denmark while Michael Enevoldsen began working on the following album. STEEL INFERNO has been, slowly but surely, cementing their name in the European speed metal scene in the last decade. 2024 re-release of Marching Orders' second LP originally recorded between February and October 2012 and released in 2013. This re-release contains re-worked and updated artwork plus insert jacket with full lyrics/band pics and credits.Living Proof was branded 'The best Marching Orders release ever' by reviewers and featured songs that are still played regularly at live shows today. From 'Dog Eat Dog' to 'Spirit Of 84' to the drumless ballad 'Hand Of Fate' there was a wide range of song-writing on the album to appeal to all. Rooted firmly in their Australian environment, the influences are evident with nods to the likes of The Angels and Rose Tattoo. It was around this time that the band started to peak domestically with an appearance at the Pugs Day Out Festival in Sydney to rave reviews. There was talk of trying to go abroad and tour Europe and America again but unfortunately it wasn't to be. With members unable to travel and very little time to rehearse, the band instead ground to a halt unfortunately. After more than a decade since its release and long sold out, it is only now in 2024 that this album is getting the recognition it always deserved with some tracks pushing half a million plays on digital platforms. With Marching Orders back together again with a strong new line up and a successful European Tour in 2023, it is time for 'Living Proof' to be made available again on vinyl for all to hear.
