This 2nd instalment comes courtesy of NYCâ€™s Adam Collins which is accompanied by a wicked remix from non-other than Grant Dell. Adamâ€™s first outing on the label was in 2013 and then in 2016 with fellow New Yorker Andrew Hobold (rip) so it was time we had him back on the label again. Both Adam and Grant have notched up a pretty impressive release list over the years so itâ€™s great to have them on board both together for this superb EP. Over the years Adam has released music on labels such as Kommuna Tapes, Nervous Records, Real Deal Records, Small Hours, Sur, Unsilenced Music as well as his legendary Euphoria Records under his Omni A.M. Yet another rockin’ new direction from the label that can’t stop expanding its….well,…Tentacles! Meet Kultur Shock—multinational ‘Gypsy Punk’ pioneers, led by irrepressible ball of energy and good cheer, Gino Yevdjevich. Gino was quite the mainstream pop star in his native Bosnia (and the Balkans), when the shelling of Sarajevo began, trapping him in his family’s apartment for two years. He was finally able to flee, first to New York, then on to Seattle. Instead of reviving his pop career, Gino chose (a full plunge) to reinvent himself, reaching deeper into his heart and Balkan roots, and Kultur Shock was born! They began playing slightly electrified Traditional Folk, to a growing refugee audience, including many a dancing Serb. The fan base quickly widened to Krist Novaselic and Vic Bondi, among others, who then drew in Jello Biafra. - Then something happened - A year or two later, they debuted in San Francisco to a sold-out audience at the Bottom of the Hill, packed with almost all refugees and migrants - and a much louder, heavier Kultur Shock. Lineups hail from all over Eastern Europe, Seattle, and even Japan; with a much wilder, more theatrical Gino as ringmaster of all he surveys. A more punked-out, direct version of their close friends and cousin, Gogol Bordello, Kultur Shock mixes Balkan folk melodies and bizarre meters with face-melting metal and blood-pumping punk rock in a pagan cauldron of lyrical, obnoxious, and politically irreverent music stew since 1996. The band released its first three studio records produced by FNM’s Bill Gould on his KoolArrow Records – Fucc the INS (2001 and 20th-anniversary re-master in 2022), Kultura- Diktatura (2003), and We Came To Take Your Jobs Away (2006). Since 2007, Kultur Shock is self-produced and self-released on its own label, Kultur Shock Records. It released Live in Europe (2007), Integration (2009), Ministry Of Kultur ( 2011), Tales Of Grandpa Guru, vol. 1 EP (2012), IX (2014), Live At Home ( 2016), and D.R.E.A.M. (2019). So here to start is Kultur Shock’s Alternative Tentacles 7” debut. To break the ice and dangle the carrot for our eclectic Tentacle fan base, and reintroduce the now post-Covid Kultur Shock, as they head back across the Atlantic, for their main audience and festival dates, and Stateside down the road. “King” and “Country Mohammed” have been live show favorites for some time, and Alternative Tentacles is pleased to showcase them to our audience. With an all-new album is in the works, with hopefully more vinyl reissues of their past CD-only albums to follow, Kultur Shock is here to stay. We love them so much, it’s the Second band with this name on Alternative Tentacles: Dick Lucas’ Culture Shock is the first!

If finds him making a widescreen and wide-eyed exploration of dub techno's outermost galaxies. He foments a unique style all his own with the empty iciness of 'Remote Dub', the frosted-over darkness of 'Fountain Of Youth' and watery liquid dub of 'Daydream Space Graffiti'. Things get psychedelic on 'Message From Ouroboros', more playful and bubbly on 'In Space No One Can See You Your Screen' and uplifting on ' Surface Worlds.' A fine record.

This package (which contains a version from fellow West Coast artist Moon B) is dripping with heart wrenching synth soars and compact drum works that are built with the fierceness that is so significant for both the label and the artist.

If one looks at the output of Los Angeles based artist Mat/Matix , he d find that this quite illusive figure from the LA scene of contemporary electronic funk has quite some good tracks in his compact repertoire. This package (which contains a version from fellow West Coast artist Moon B) is dripping with heart wrenching synth soars and compact drum works that are built with the fierceness that is so significant for both the label and the artist.
Freaked in Private even though it s an EP feels more like a mini album of some sort. The opening track City Chiller is a slap bass heavy venture into G funk tainted dance music that perfectly utilizes an uplifting intermezzo, before heading into it s chorus which is highlighted by loosely played synth notes and some interesting vocal shots that are so significant for LA music from by gone days. The version by fellow funketeer Moon B goes a different route. The slap bass has been altered into a deep and sophisticated bass pattern which acts as the spine of the version. The drums are somewhat more outlandish, and the pad that floats on top works perfectly with the glow of the synths.

Hold it down is a disco ish track that utilizes very smooth and soul touching elements that are built around various piano variations and a beautiful break with percussion in the fashion of Shuggie Otis Aht uh mi Hed .

Central Bank is keeping up the pace with a very hazy atmosphere and amazing vocals which ooze throughout. Very musical and warm. 135th is a piano track that again strikes the right chord for mellow week-ends in a park. Wayactive is closing down this extended effort with euphoric synths and uplifting chords.

A1. Santiago Salazar - “Espacio Profundo”
Santiago Salazar is one of the underground’s most accomplished players, having been involved with the Ican and Los Hermanos projects amongst many others. With releases on Planet E, Underground Resistance, and Rush Hour you know you can expect the finest production. His track “Espacio Profundo” is a deep, beautiful house jam with an almost disco bassline, perhaps different from what you’ve heard from him but no less outstanding.
A2. Lerosa - “Ausgang”
Lerosa has been releasing bangers through a variety of labels throughout the world, with his album on Uzuri and EP for Apartment being the most recent examples. On “Ausgang”, he creates a perfect summertime house track based around a looping vocal snippet and funky synth chords, sure to kill at outdoor sets and pool parties as well as clubs.
B1. Moonstarr - “Complications”
Moonstarr may have been relatively quiet recently, but his track record speaks for itself: releases on Sonar Kollectiv, Compost, and his own Public Transit contain many classics. For LWYF, Kevin contributes his craziest jam in a decade, “Complications”, one that is sure to be another party classic! A raved up cut with tight broken techno drum patterns, this will appeal to fans of funky dance music from bass to house and more.
B2. Jason Fine - “Bang”
Jason Fine got his start releasing music on Omar-S’ famed FXHE Records, and since then has been dropping heaters on Kontra-Musik that have been played by many top techno deejays. “Bang” explores the deeper end of his sound, with thick bass and delayed chords to create a hypnotic mood that will work wonders in late nite sets, making the heads go nuts.
