First European vinyl 45 release on Munster Records, featuring the guitar of Deniz Tek. Inspired by artists such as Etta James and Julie London, Lizzie sang a sultry Jazz set around the traps in Sydney. Enthralling fans with her riveting stage presence and seductive voice, around late 2007, she teamed up with Deniz Tek to pursue a lifelong love of Soul music. Deniz's hard rocking background with Radio Birdman is well known. In recent years he has also worked with Scott Morgan, soul shouter from Detroit's Rationals. Together they performed numbers like Otis Redding's 'Respect' and Johnnie Taylor's 'Hijackin' Love' to crazed audiences across the USA. Lizzie and Deniz hammered together a number of songs, with a cover of Aretha Franklin's aby I Love You and the original iece O Me' making the final selection for their initial vinyl release. The recording sessions shook the walls at Hothouse Studio, Melbourne in mid 2008. The Memphis-style rhythm section featured veteran producer and playerCraig Harnath on bass, and drummer Brett Wolfenden, whose great playing and attitude more than did justice to the sound of his 60's vintage Ludwig kit. Stylistically, Mahjongg is boundless and indefinable. From their very first EP through K's Kontpab (released earlier this year), Mahjongg have dabbled in beatbox punk, afro-beat revivalism and junkyard whimsy. The continual shifts in their albums is an earnest attempt to realize global harmonies, but if given only one side of a 7" which side of Mahjongg would come out to play? The Dub Narcotic Disco Plate series provides the answer and "Free Groove Rider" is their most refracted pop statement yet. Using a swirling vocoder and intermittent dance beats, this single flickers like a channel-surfer finding pop sensibilities in between the static. The B-side, a remix by Selector Dub Narcotic (Calvin Johnson), ups the playfulness by reducing the static in favor of an unkempt, bubbling mix of melodica and reemerging synths.

During a weekend stop-over in her hometown of Olympia, Kendl stopped in at Dub Narcotic to record this 7" that features Kendl, Joe Capoccia on bass, and Austin Cooper on Drums. Selector Dub Narcotic created a remix for the B Side of the album called "The Same Version," and both sides together create the perfect little snack pack to hold us over until she releases her next full-length! Both of these songs stay true to what we've come to love from Kendl; they're homegrown, feet in the dirt, clothes on the drying line in the front yard, sugary country.

This is the seventh release in The Social Registry's ongoing series aptly titled The Social Club. Dispatched monthly via letter-pressed/limited edition 7-inch vinyl and digital distribution, this series presents a full musical array: the established and the obscured, the noisy and the delicate,the tempered and the experimental. The Metabolismus collective has been making music since the mid-1980's, selfreleasingmost of their early material on cassette and vinyl LPs. The band comes from the town of Stuttgart, Germany and creates music that is rooted in the rich tradition of German experimental bands such as Can, Amon Duul, Popul Voh andKraftwerk with touchstones in rock, folk and electronic music. With this release they are joined by Samara Lubelski and provide two beautiful tracks of arboreal shimmer with glimpses of soft 60s psychedelic sheen. Metabolismus do not see themselves as just a band. They evolved out of a typicalEast-Swabian street-folk-punk-band into what they call an "exartperihoppmental workshop". They released 33 tapes in the first ten years of existence and 33 records in the second, and are always in search of new sounds & experiences, concepts& structures, with absolutely no concession to commercialism. In this blend of purity in motive and inspiration grows the seed for "Metabolismusic", which can be grasped as a sort of musical time bomb. Since 1982 they have seen their missionas evoking the etabolic force' through etabolic love' and it's what they still attempt to express.

The punk movement also came fully clothed. Mal-One’s new single talks about the fashion side of Punk that ran parallel to the music. These clothes were supplied from Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwoods emporium situated at 430 King’s Road, the epicentre of the Punk Movement itself. The clothes were not cheap and you needed deep pockets to buy them. But you also needed an attitude to wear them, as many factions were not so appreciative of them, especially the ‘Teddy Boys’. You had to run the gauntlet of the King’s Road on a Saturday from Sloane Square to the Worlds End. A tricky mile, in which you always had to keep your eyes open from enemy attack.

The clothes were pieces of art and deserve their time in the spotlight and perhaps even in song. Hope you appreciate the gesture.

The Wolfmen are Marco Pirroni (guitars) and Chris Constantinou (vocals/bass). Marco first appeared on stage alongside Sid Vicious in Siouxsie and The Banshees and, with Adam and The Ants, he co-wrote five number one singles and two number one albums. In the 90s he joined Sinead O'Connor as co-writer and guitarist. Chris joined Adam Ant's band in 1982 and went on to work with Junior Vasquez and Guy Chambers, and, in the 90s, formed Jackie Onassid and toured with Iggy Pop. George W. Bush. Cormac McCarthy novels. Chainsaw massacres. Texas has a reputation for being a grim place. Sure, there's the rock n' roll haven of Austin, the metropolitan hubs of Dallas and Houston, and the weird art commune of Marfa. But by and large, it's a land of dry counties and conservatism. Which makes the demented psych garage of Lubbock's the Numerators all the more compelling. Northeastern Texas is perhaps the most inhospitable region of the state for a young band of misfits to combine a love of David Lynch's twisted take on the 50s with a requisite dash of Lone Star homage to 13th Floor Elevators, yet somehow the Numerators have managed to thrive under such stark conditions. Now based in Brooklyn, the trio continues to belt out their hallucinatory brand of reverb-drenched garage rock on their latest single for Suicide Squeeze. The "Dead" b/w "Finally Sees" 7" is limited to 500 copies.
