A never before released version of a truly, legendary house record from the late great Frankie Knuckles…working in collaboration with The Frankie Knuckles Foundation who will receive 50% of the profits from this project, SoSure Music is proud to present the Director’s Cut re-production of ‘Baby Wants To Ride’. Alongside this, a vinyl exclusive edit by Jimmy Edgar, which was originally a tribute release after Frankie’s passing in 2014, finally gets an official release.
2011 saw the launch of Frankie and long-time production partner Eric Kupper’s ‘Director’s Cut’ project, with the aim to release new music, whilst re-producing classic cuts to fit with the modern dancefloor. SoSure Music is now working alongside Eric Kupper and Hector Romero, with the blessing of both Def Mix and The Frankie Knuckles Foundation, to bring a renewed focus to some of this material.
First up, the illustrious, evocative 1987 anthem, ‘Baby Wants To Ride’. Rightly regarded as a masterpiece of early Chicago house and a pioneering classic through and through. Knuckles and Kupper extend the intro and outro to allow for those sweeping blends, whilst adding deft touches and reprogrammed lines to give a crisper, more detailed feel to this sumptuous slice of definitive house music. Couple that with newly spiritualised vocals and fresh erotic ad libs from Jamie Principle and prepare to rekindle that infectious energy 32 years down the line.
On the B side, Jimmy Edgar showcases his trademark touch to provide a fresh spin on the original whilst staying true to its essence. Reworking the arps, adding atmospheric drops and crunchy percussive elements, whilst holding off on the iconic vocal till the last section, all combine to give this version a unique, big room character that nods to the past, yet reinterprets for the present. A fitting tribute from an artist whose own productions are clearly laced with influence from Frankie Knuckles.

They’re wild and young and free, someone would say.
FREEZ are a bunch of italian 18 years old guys that write great garage-pop songs.
They already toured Europe and had a track from their debut made it to a FatCat Records compilation.
Always Friends is a solid alternative rock record, written by Michele Bellinaso in his bedroom in his mother's house and
then recorded it with his bandmates Nicolò and Stefano at Fox Studio (Venice) with New Candys' member Andrea
Volpato. The whole album is split in two parts that reflect two di erent moods: the happier one filled with romantic
choruses screamed in the microphone, adolescences themes and “falling in love” stories, then the more emotional part
with even more distortions on it, that accompanies the sad vibes of the record, based on friends leaving hometown, the
need of having someone beside you and choosing what to do with your life.
FREEZ is an up-and-coming garage rock band from Schio (ITA). Michele, Stef and Nicolò make up one of the youngest
actively touring band from northern Italy. FREEZ sound like they were born and raised on the California coast, unapologetically
taking their echo-drenched, surf-punk vibe straight out of Oakland, San Francisco and Long Beach.
While music magazines hails them as the new voice of Italian Slacker-rock, FREEZ have been hard at work.

These contemplative alt-country songs on were recorded to tape in July last year with the help of The Low Anthem’s Jeff Prystowsky. After the deeply ambitious three EP trilogy Impossible Objects of Desire in 2017, Fujiya & Miyagi are to release their 7th full length album. 'This record started life as our funk record,' says Fujiya & Miyagi's David Best. 'Yet once we got into the production stage our embryonic funk songs moved closer to electro in feel. Although this is our funkiest album to date and the funk is deliberate.'It's not surprising that a sense of evolution and stylistic shift would take place within the process of putting together a single record, given Fujiya & Miyagi's near two decade career of genre-hopping across Krautrock, electronica, disco, pop, funk and anything else they feel like throwing into their smart yet deeply accessible take on electronic music. Whilst this album might be rooted in nostalgia, with everything the pair do there's still a feeling of momentum and something fresh. A tired re-hash of familiar sounds this is not. Instead it finds a group re-connecting with the potent music of their youth and connecting it with their well-learned musical chops as adults. The pair's recent listening habits of African music can even be heard faintly amongst the dance floor-destined blasts of electro. 'Its creeping in here but will be even more apparent on the next record, ' Best says. The album is ultimately one about escape and abandon. About embracing and reliving lost moments on the dance floor charged by the surge and power of youthful remembrance. Or, as Lewis says, 'Flashback is a flashback to less complicated times with no responsibilities. It's also about the odd fragments of memories that stay with you.

At 14 years old, Funky DL and his older brother permanently moved from living with their Mother in Hackney to living with their Father in London’s Borough of Newham. LIFE AFTER DENNISON:
After an incredibly warm reception from the fans of the auto-biographical November 2018 release "Dennison Point", Funky DL returns precisely one year later with the sequel, "Life After Dennison". Keeping in theme with vocal accompanied breaks, the album explores topics such as, racism, discrimination, family, friendship, education, conflict, hardship, good fortune and the life lessons gained from them all. The focus sits firmly on the lyrical aspect of the album moreover the beats, however DL's trademark sound still weaves through and compliments the rhetoric throughout. One would think it difficult to capture so much insight into the last 14 years since moving out of Dennison Point, however, in just 30 minutes running time, the album showcases the continuation of DL's life exploits from October 10th 2005 to present day. The annexation of the 10 tracks from "Dennison Point" to "Life After Dennison" paint a vivid picture of the man behind the music and provide the backdrop of who Funky DL was, is and potentially might become. Future Afro-Latin jazz house from Italian master percussionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Gabriele Poso. The entirely self-produced album features guest vocalists Nailah Porter, Nina Rodriguez, Quetzal Guerrero & Sofia Rollo.

Following a long-term collaborative partnership with Osunlade / Yoruba Records, as well as albums on BBE and Agogo Records, on 'Batik' Poso further develops and matures his sound - exploring his extensive roots in Afro-Cuban percussion, while delving into the realms of jazz and soulful house.

With mixing by renowned Spanish DJ and producer Kiko Navarro, the lead single “Africa Linda” is an up tempo live take on Latin house, featuring American-born soul singer Quetzal Guerrero on vocals.

Much of the album features Poso on not only vocals but many of the instruments - including percussion, guitar and kalimba. A true multi-instrumentalist, Poso found a particular affinity for percussion at a young age, studying in Puerto Rico and Cuba.

In 2008, Poso released his first solo album entitled “From The Genuine World”, produced for Osunlade’s label, Yoruba Records. He went on to release another 3 albums, with labels including BBE Music - garnering acclaim from reviewers and selectors including Gilles Peterson, as well as awards including “Roots Of Soul” winning Best Jazz Independent Production in 2012 (Germany).

Straight outta Camden, NJ it’s Chocolate Star. Starting in 1980 Chocolate Star served as the outlet for the music of Gary Davis. Gary started Chocolate Star with his long time Camden compatriot Dennis “DJ” Jones after a few years spent under the wing of Peter Brown at P&P Records. But Gary’s storied involvement in music goes back further than that, having studied composition and arrangement with the late jazz great Manny Albam. Gary’s musical education actually started earlier than that as one of the people he learned the most from was his Uncle, famed jazz organist Richard “Groove” Holmes. When you combined the funk Mr. Davis inherited from “Groove”, with the street-sense of Peter Brown with the skillful composition and arrangements learned from Manny Albam, you’ve got Chocolate Star. Playing with a band composed of (very talented) people from his Camden neighborhood Davis released cut after cut of solid funk filled dance music. They’re all compiled here, from the Joe Sample inspired “Gee Dee”, to one of first commercial releases to lay the beat down with a drum machine in “The Pop”. Of course prominently featured is the legendary mover “Gotta Get Your Love”. “A Taste Of Chocolate: The Very Best of Gary Davis” has been assembled with Mr. Davis and whenever possible using Gary’s original masters. These cuts bridge the disco era, into Hop Hop and the earliest forms of House. Talented, versatile, and still able to get you out of your chair and shaking your behind...this is Chocolate Star. Königsforst following the 1997 release of Zauberberg (KOMPAKT 370.1), Wolfgang Voigt’s GAS project returned with Königsforst, a full length that has stood the test of time as a template for introducing fundamentals of 90’s techno into the principles of contemporary electronic music. Originally released in 1998 on the iconic Frankfurt imprint Mille Plateaux, and then reissued in 2016 as a part of GAS “BOX”, Zauberberg is now released on his own label Kompakt on 180 gram 3LP vinyl in its original artwork. Königsforst brings glimmers of light into Voigt’s dark, magnificent forest. Melodic strings and brass are added to his signature layers of ominous intensity. The forest path is laid out by muffled kick drums as classical music loops incessantly swirl with no direction.
