The story of Eyeshield 21 follows the protagonist Sena, the whipping boy of his classmates, who wants to earn respect by joining a club at the start of the school year. He crosses paths with Hiruma, head of the American soccer club, who recruits him for his exceptional running skills. They must quickly find 11 other players, as the inter-school championship begins in 24 hours. Numerous artists and composers were involved in creating the theme music and accompanying songs, including Kosuke Morimoto, who contributed to various theme songs for Fullmetal Alchemist and One Piece. Any fan of the series will have a strong feeling of nostalgia when they recall the music that marked them during their teenage years. Laced Records, id Software and Bethesda proudly present the music of seminal 1997 first-person shooter Quake II on vinyl.

19 specially remastered tracks by Sonic Mayhem and Jer Sypult will be pressed onto heavyweight discs. Sleeve artwork is by id Software, with Jason Williford providing character illustrations. The bulk of the soundtrack was created by Sascha Dikiciyan aka Sonic Mayhem — his first game project among an enviably long credits list. Having caught id Software’s ear with an unofficial Quake album (alongside production partner Dave Valencia), Sonic Mayhem and id Software went on to develop Quake II’s trademark aggro-industrial metal sound, inspired in part by Metallica. The killer riffs, repeated for effect, urge players forward through the Strogg city and beyond, a trail of gibs in their wake. Jer Sypult’s “Climb” complements the selection with its driving industrial groove.

It was as part of the European Demo Scene that Kyd first worked with the eventual founders of IO Interactive, going on to score their stealth-action debut. Despite the memory constraints of the DirectMusic system at the time, Kyd delivered a simmering combination of ambient and cinematic music. His signature sound of grand melodies set against groove-based electronica is in evidence here, especially in the hypnotic main title track.

His signature style is still intact in the live recorded orchestrations: strong melodies, catchy rhythms and harmonic influences from all over the globe. The early series’ trademark groovy electronica fills out the soundtrack, incorporating world music elements to suit 47’s globetrotting escapades.

Along with his game credits, Jim has also created music for everything from Burger King children's toys, to collaborations with Nasa; and has also scored numerous trailers, short films, documentaries, commercials, and television programs, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chicago Hope, and The Weekenders. His concert works have been performed in over 25 countries, with ensembles as large as 1,400 musicians, located in venues ranging from New York City's Carnegie Hall to the Great Wall of China.

Wes Keltner Bio: Wes Keltner is the CEO and Studio Director at Gun Interactive. He has been a part of the video game industry since 2005 and consulted on video games including Doom, Splinter Cell, Star Wars, Madden, Skyrim, Ghost Recon and several others. With an inclination towards marketing and advertising his work has appeared in Fast Company, Forbes, The NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and Ad Age. During the pandemic he took it upon himself to learn a new musical instrument that could deliver the sound of Texas Chain Saw Massacre. He found this sound within the Apprehension Engine and he spent countless hours discovering and recording horrifying sounds that ultimately became the soundbed of the game.

Aside from his work with games, Piotr has a successful career in producing music for TV shows & film advertising. Genesis Noir is a real gem — a fantastical riff that not only spans time and space, but also dabbles in fun little diddies like an celestial existential crisis and the notion of obliterating creation itself. It does so with tremendous style, drenched in monochromatic beauty and amazing animation, oozing with the essence of a smoky jazz club from another dimension. Did we just describe the game… or the album, because all those things are effectively captured in the soundtrack, too. Composer Skillbard does a phenomenal job of taking us on this massive mind trip, full of lively sax, energetic vocals, periodically somber notes and savvy future melodies. It’s absolutely fantastic and totally unique.

Since the dawn of the trombone (Early 15th century or so according to a quick Google search), trombonists all over the world have been compelled to create a wide assortment of brass-powered notes, both sweet and sour.

Developer Holy Wow made it their divine mission to document this phenomenon through the medium of interactive electronic entertainment. Trombone Champ is a celebration of the beauty and power of music — not just well-crafted, technically proficient music, but passionate, messy, and goofy melodies, too. Music is about self expression, and self expression simply isn’t always tidy and neat.

This LP is iam8bit’s humble attempt to capture that wonderfully weird energy on wax. The Trombone Champ Vinyl Soundtrack is a 1xLP packed full of sweet, sweet brass-powered tunes, selected and performed (excellently, by the way — no flubbed notes here) by the Holy Wow team themselves. We’ve pressed it on perfectly imperfect Off-Key Orange and Blaring Blue vinyl.
