While Cosmogramma is a monolithic convergence of 20th and 21st century musical forms, high in concept and wide in musical collaboration, Pattern+Grid World pulls the focus back to Steven Ellison and his machines. These machines are speaking (and possibly looking as well, judging by the EP's cover) from the go, as "Clay" introduces itself in a fog of synth and vocoder and gives way to one of the many surprises here, the schizophrenic ping-ponging electro of "Kill Your Co-Workers". Drenched in alternating melodies, it's a synthetic counterpart to the grand string and harp arrangements of Cosmogramma, making acclaimed illustrator Theo Ellsworth's subtly psychedelic cover image of vision-through-noise all the more intimate.

When Flying Lotus records hit their stride, all buttons labeled "pause" and "stop" disappear, and this one is no different. "Pie Face" is led by icy keys that could almost be mistaken for classic grime, before the stoned plastic marching band steps in. "Time Vampires" amazingly lands somewhere between vintage DJ Premier and Lee Hazelwood, while the stripped back bass and drum explorations of "Jurassic Notion/M Theory" are as shamanic and ceremonial as anything you're likely to hear come out of California. If "Camera Day" brings to mind a certain crew of dungeon-dwelling ATLiens, it won't come as much of a surprise that Killer Mike found its syrupy bounce recently inspiring.

Much of the messages surrounding Cosmogramma's release as well as reportage on the world's ever-emerging beat scenes has painted a picture of Flying Lotus as a patriarchal figure blazing the trail for scores of young artists with new conceptual notions of what can be done with a drum machine and a dream. While this notion is certainly not inaccurate, it sometimes overshadows the fact that FlyLo is also an incredibly singular entity. However, as "Physics For Everyone!" stutters to a close, if you listen closely you might just make out the sound of another kid in his room somewhere in the world, anxiously tapping out his first beat.

Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart is one of the top producers of today’s groove music scene. After playing as a bassist and guitarist for various bands, he started producing in the mid-nineties and has kept on mixing today’s technologies with the raw spirits of House, Electronic, Disco, Funk, Soul, Reggae & Jazz music’s golden years since then.
Following the trail of success left by his various projects as Patchworks, and under many aliases, he’s proved his musical ubiquity and unexpectedly stroke in various genres. Many House music diggers would indeed remember that before Favorite Recordings was launched in 2006, Patchworks produced many deep-house tracks on various labels.
On this new EP, he’s back as Mr President with 2 new banging titles brilliantly mixing House music atmosphere, with Soul and Disco vibes. He’s also teaming up again with Sabba MG on vocals, following to their great “Give My Love” efforts, released on EDR Records 3 years ago. Six artists remix the rich sound material from Sven Ka- cirek's LP “Scarlet Pitch Dreams” (Pingipung 32, April 2012). Sven's original percussion recordings and his densely layered melodies invite for a rework which fo- cuses on the single elements. Robert Lippok (To Rococo Rot, Raster Noton) turns the title track into a balearic sunshine dance until the voice and synthlines evoke a deep and driving witchhouse at- mosphere. Absolutely awesome remix! Opiate aka Thomas Knak from Denmark (Morr Music) is one of Pingipung's favourite artists in the world and we're very happy to have his remix included here. His highly individual syncopating beat works dive into the pool of Sven's percussions, with the snare and marimba always in the foreground. Stefan Schneider (Mapstation, To Rococo Rot) delivers a delicious dub version of “About Me And You”. In fact, Stefan Schneider and Sven Kacirek are in the beginnings of their musical collaboration, releasing one album on Honest Jon's later in the year and playing gigs together. RSS Disco & Sugarwater (Mireia Rec) transform snip- pets of the voice and marimba patterns of the title track into a disco track. RSS Disco have been responsible as DJs for some of the most outstanding parties in Pin- gipung's hometown Hamburg lately. We're very happy to include these talented producers in this release. F.S. Blumm (Morr Music) adds nothing but his charac- teristic guitar to the “Scarlet Pitch dreams” vocals of Jana Plewa. No question it's a perfect match: the two make the duo “Old Splendifolia” and have released one beautiful album on the Plop Imprint. Peter Presto finally remixes “About Me And You” in the best of his humours. The guy who made the first Pin- gipung record ten years ago (yes, it's our anniversary!) always has one other melody to add. Happy go lucky style, we like!

Funkadelic were the most influential group to emerge from Detroit in the 1970s. Their early albums have cast a long shadow over everything that came afterwards in the city. It was music that understood the past but was firmly aiming towards the future and mixed soul, funk and rock into an almost unimaginable stew. Albums such as “Maggot Brain”, “Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow” and “Cosmic Slop” are regularly featured in all-time greatest lists.

From the techno pioneered by the likes of Carl Craig and Underground Resistance, to the garage rock revival spearheaded by the White Stripes and the Dirtbombs, all have paid homage to the Parliafunkadelicment Thang. This album is a tribute from some of the most important recording artists currently working in the city to these most influential of forefathers. The very finest talent now active in Detroit appear on the record, being given free rein to work on the multi-track tapes, to rework in any way they see fit. We have full-on remixes, futuristic creations using the original track as an inspiration, disco-fied re-edits and skeletal dubs.

Spearheaded by Brendan Gillen of Interdimensional Transmissions, the set features names working across the musical spectrum. There is an appearance by those most mysterious of techno pioneers Underground Resistance, and by Kenny Dixon Jr and his alter-ego Moodymann. The Dirtbombs throw down a frenetic take on ‘Super Stupid’, whilst disco re-edit expert Gaye Marvine adds his magic to ‘Undisco Kidd’. Other contributors include Funkadelic alumni Amp Fiddler, Marcellus Pittman and Anthony Shake Shakir.

This is a worthy celebration by New Detroit of its most twisted and illustrious forebears.

“Merzbow is erotic like a car crash can be related to genital intercourse.” (from an interview with Masami Akita). Somewhere in between dadaism and surrealism, Merzbow’s work is a sum of all his influences and also a sublimation of his life experiences, all which pervade the different layers of his tracks. Improvisation and composition lose their meaning, as Masami’s work goes beyond and finds its meaning in accidents, disruptions and experimentation. His music gives freedom to the listener and to a certain extent, invites to meditation. Whenever I think of Merzbow’s catalogue, I see it as this complex collage of singular moments across time when he got influenced by a particular object or person or idea, and transposed those into noise. And Torus EP is that particular instance, the encounter between Japan and Serbia, between Masami Akita and Jezgro, with the result being 4 sinister and unsettling tracks, visceral and at the same time heart-rending.

Kool Keith pops his head in the UFO! remix of "Take it to the Top", making it cool to rap about Eric Clapton over the hyper-dub marching band madness. Jam City’s debut album Classical Curves is a landmark in the history of UK-club music. The record also inspired a generation of aspiring producers to experiment with unconventional sound-design, providing them with an imaginative template to adapt and make their own. 10 years on, the significance of Classical Curves is clearer than ever before. Featuring an additional 10-tracks of rarities and unreleased material created around the time of its initial release, this deluxe 2 x LP reissue invites fans to delve deeper into the record’s multi-sensory world. In addition to an exclusive 7-inch vinyl, listeners also have access to unseen photographs taken by the artist as research for the record’s infamous cover art. Beloved tracks “her” and “How we relate to the body” are pre-primed for the club, appearing as extended versions. Glassy fragments of 80s art-pop coalesce in suspended silence on the previously unreleased “He Watches Over Us All’. For respite, listeners can bathe in the 26-minute “Goodbye Hyatt Park”, a reverie that harnesses the record’s more soothing qualities. As influential as Classical Curves was upon its release, it was also ahead of its time. Monikca lives in the beautiful Bavarian town Regensburg, loves Pancakes and isn't that much into clubbing. With her debut ep Münchner Jazz Bar back in 2015, she already set a glittering landmark. Now she's back with a surprisingly fresh 12” vinyl named Floating Herbert. The synthesizer (she calls him Herbert) supplanted the uplifting jazz samples from Münchner Jazz Bar. A slightly more mature mood took place of the lighthearted, uplifting sound we know from her.

This maxi is a soulful masterpiece for the joyful, in-between mood of an early summer outdoor sunset party. With this edition we continue our special limited edition series of 555 individually colored vinyls. Each record is a random-colored, totally unique piece. The colors range from black to white, from red, green, yellow and blue to all the mixed and mottled color variations in between.

B1) ""Falling Forever"" The mellow but depressing synth pads will definitely grab you, but the repetitive, hypnotizing bassline will keep you. Add a minimal, pounding 808 and it makes this track one to play over and over...and OVER. B2) ""Strobe Light"" A minimalist track with a basic but adequate house piano riff and a freaky synth lead. But the 'popping' claps over the pulsating 909 bass drum paired with an abnormal, repeating bassline makes this one sound like pure 90's house! A definite classic.

Doorly's Reptile Dysfunction continues to prove itself to be one of the most vibrant and singular labels around, this time tapping up legendary producer Jaydee for its latest release.

Jaydee is a dance music pioneer. Best know for the seminal 'Plastic Dreams' - a track that, somewhat terrifyingly for those who remember it the first time around, will be celebrating its 25 th anniversary next year - he has continued to be a leading light in innovative house and techno productions, releasing on R&S and Ellum Audio in the last few years.

Here, he teams up with fellow dance music visionary Doorly for a searingly brilliant release on the latter's Reptile Dysfunction imprint. 'Acid Pressure EP' presents two original cuts from Jaydee, with supporting remixed from Doorly and Trooko.

Kicking things off, 'Back Into Acid' opens with stunningly heartfelt pads before building to a killer acid line via shimmering percussion and erotically charged vocal snatches. 'Bring The Pressure' is more direct: a house roller softened by Basic Channel-esque chords and with added rhythm courtesy of the accompanying ragga
chants.

On the remix front, Doorly flips 'Back Into Acid' into something far more menacing, with fierce synths stabs and rolling drums creating a head down stomper, while Trooko chops 'Back Into Pressure' into pieces, crafting a thumping main room house cut from the constituent parts, complete with an epic, piano-led breakdown.

James Mason is mostly known for his late 70's album 'Rhythm Of Life', which is a soul-jazz classic. Soon after music trends shifted to (electronic) disco and James' music became out of fashion, leaving 'Rhythm Of Life' to be the only album he released to date. The early early 80′s saw him have a few studio sessions from which more electronic output like Wuf Ticket’s ‘The Key (Prelude Records) resulted. James also produced various disco acts like Disco 3, Earl Flint and Brenda Bayton.
