Chicago-based producer Mike Meegan records music under the moniker RXM Reality. Meegan’s three previous albums on Hausu Mountain sketch out an evolving trajectory of omni-electronic rhythmic music that warps elements of grime, dubstep, mutated techno, hyperpop, and noise into unpredictable compositions overloaded with synthetic textures and fast-scrolling beat structures. With the new album sick for you, Meegan pushes the RXM Reality project into brand new zones along multiple intersecting spectrums. For the first time, he incorporates his voice into his work, employing a series of contrasting vocal styles that complement productions which shine with more finely-crafted details and narrative hairpin turns than ever before. The album feels more progressive and overwhelming than any prior output with its pointillistic beat mosaics and melodic arrangements, taking a few steps closer to some vision of contemporary pop music soaked in adrenaline and ballistic energy. My Light, My World is a gorgeously slammin’ four track release by Brooklyn-based Ryan Clover on Eris Drew’s Ecstatic Editions imprint. We fell in love with Ryan’s music as we wore out the grooves on his killer 12 inch for Arts. The tracks featured on My Light, My World are a perfect fit for Ecstatic Editions because, much like Eris’s sets, the tracks are beautiful musically and genuinely emotional, but they also seriously slap and translate powerfully on large sound systems. It is hard to find Big Room records with so much heart, so the label jumped to sign the tracks and prepare the project for release.

Clover’s arrangements on the EP unfold in truly magical and unexpected ways with buildups giving way to gorgeous musical passages. “We Love (We Feel)” is a heartfelt instrumental which sets the tone for the record, while the title tune “My Light, My World” declares boldly “its ON!” before heeding to woozy chords and a sax riff that sounds amazing in the mix. Flip the record over for “Here We F***ing Go!” which is a total boast track for deck players but doesn’t lose its sweetness in the process, and the powerfully fun closer “Let Me Tell U Sumthin’” which reminds sweaty dancefloors that “Love Is Special.” Ecstatic Editions hopes you’ll put your needle in the groove and dance hard to one of the season’s sweetest bangers.

Haven is proud to invite Berlin-based Canadian artist Ryan James Ford for his second appearance on the label, this time with a full 5-track EP of dark tripped out dance floor weaponry following from their track on the second Sardonic Tonality compilation as well as his huge album on Clone in 2021 and an EP on Mama Told Ya earlier this year.

The A1 launches with 'Lost In The L.E.S.' with its threatening synth rising and falling alongside quick vocal chops and rolling drum rhythms providing the perfect start to this collection showcasing the murkier side of Ryan's production. The A2 continues on this tip with 'Ekstase' - where distorted percussions and a cheeky scream sample bounce off the sombre synthesiser programming in another slab of quirky 4-4 experimentation. The A3 closes the first side with 'Undertow (s02e05)', a certified club banger making fine use of distorted kicks, bouncy rhythmic work and dub-style synth stabs in another unique brain twister.

On the flip the B1 keeps things rolling with 'The Promise Of Money' - another peculiar workout full of experimental textures, dusky synth melodies and charging drums to keep feet moving. The B2 closes the record with 'Parllyster (92 Mix)', which takes a brighter turn with its euphoric melody and gravely bass alongside punchy broken rhythms that quickly turn in to pounding four-to-the-floor in this club-heavy offering from the Canadian producer.

In this case drawing its inspiration from Detroit’s meteoric rise from the ruins of the past, BerettaMusic a label founded in Detroit in 2002 who took a several year hiatus is back in a big way, also rising from the ashes like it’s birth city has done. Ryan Sadorus who co-founded the label with Brian Kage delivers some next level quirky Detroit house jams. Already getting spins by local Detroit DJ’s and the verdict is in and the tracks are dance floor ready and sure to get people moving. The release also features vinyl artwork by renowned midwest artist Jon Griffin featured on full color vinyl jackets. First off is “Slippah”, a shuffling and quirky bass heavy stormer. The track builds through various levels dropping into syncopated and distorted vocal riffs, lifting its way into some pulsing synth stabs with perfectly timed filtering which lends itself to the overall energy rise through the track. With a huge breakdown and vocal stab sequence, it’s sure to have them moving! “Hit 'em with da slippah!” Expansive is a chugging deep house tune with atmospheric synth business to really set the mood anytime of the night. A deep bassline carries the tune along into a breakdown complete with a quote from the man himself, Carl Sagan. Brian Kage delivers a stunning remix of Expansive, imprinting his own defined style he’s known for as he keeps things level grounded with evolving Detroit-inspired soulful elements. Last but not least, “Flexxin” is ripping speaker work out of epic proportions. Another quirky, bass heavy jam that will definitely wake up the dance floor. Close to a year after its Blasted-fathered, inaugural first EP, Depth.Request operators reveal that the London-based imprint is far from being dead in a cradle and has a pair of legitimately attention-commanding names presented on the sleeve of its sophomore record as a matter of fact: with a career spanning well over a decade, Osaka’s reliable warehouse demolitioner Ryuji Takeuchi needs little in terms of introduction and really so does A1 remix-assigned Swarm Intelligence, whose designer creations are known to provoke thought and action at even degree. Phenomenon Of Combination starts off with Noctambulism, an anxious-to-get-to-it opener whose 6 kicks a tact work nicely to perceivably speed up its tempo of 132 and aren’t halting for bit as the distorted acidic sequence, spinning hats and tides of noise gradually show up to do what reaching crude oil connection would to a wildfire already raging. Definitively exhausting the synonyms for this titularly addressed brand of parasomnia, Sleepwalking brings the release to closure through diligently whanging 4x4s alongside a condensing arrangement of 16x16s, paced at 137 and supported in their plight by faintly striking claps with light hats peaking from behind the perpetuating pattern of a deranged acid wall that undoubtedly does to psyche something akin to subtly stirring the sanity meter towards E while drilling a hole in tank to eliminate the possibility of a refill. Maddening in all good senses, second adoptee of Depth.Request is a four-pack of tools forget to inflict hard damage, best recommended to those that regard their local factory-made-a-venue as weekend retreat. – rhetor

Archival material from UK techno stalwart, Steve Bicknell ( Lost, Cosmic Records). Heavyweight DJ tools, check! "All tracks were recorded in the early 90's intended to be released as an introduction to Chicago influences of the Lost dancefloor, and to also launch another side of Cosmic Records, ‘clubtracks’. The release was titled ‘The Message’ as that’s what it was, an unspoken message of the introduction of ‘clubtracks’. "The production concept was minimal and raw, with Chicago influences, the tracks were recorded using an Atari 1040, Roland 808 and Jd800 Synthesizer, non structured, recorded live to DAT. Edits 1 & 2 were recorded late 92/3 and never intended to be released as these were produced for my Dj sets. But they created a lot of interest when played, and many Dj’s wanted the edits released for their use. I had gone through a few acitates already, so I decided to include the edits as part of the release." Steve Bicknell Pressed at 45 RPM.
