Italian, Treviso-based composer Chevel — aka Dario Tronchin — returns to duty with “Unlimited Drinks” on the secretive Fracture imprint, following his “Always Yours” album on Mumdance’s Different Circles label, going further into electronic intimacy, publishing a two-tracks/movements exercise prolonging his researches on sound design poetry. Photonz is the alias of Marco Rodrigues a DJ, producer and driving force of Lisbon's underground scene. For little over a decade now, he's been crafting his own deeply personal style of Portuguese house and techno. As a DJ, Photonz grew a reputation for deep crates and intensely euphoric sets and in 2017, together with Violet (co-founder at his Radio Quantica) and Lisbon's own Rabbit Hole collective, he started the now infamous Mina parties - a monthly, sex-positive, queer and intersectional-feminist techno party aimed at using the dissociative potential of intense raving to create a temporary space of suspension away from patriarchal expectations.

'Nuit' is Photonz’s debut album and a simultaneous reference the Egyptian Goddess of the Stars or Night. Marco was really swept away by the concept of ‘freedom of form under the night sky’, the accepting embrace of Nuit. Ancestral, but also socially advanced and utopian; a deification of the night time. These ideas manifest themselves as eleven songs spread across two LPs that wax and wane like the moon. Photonz channels early techno, Drexciyan rhythms, balearic & atmospheric house; layering sounds, creating moments. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a royal blue and neon yellow jacket with duality/birth symbolism and trance-hieroglyphs designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a glow-in-the-dark sticker and a postcard with notes.

In October of 2017 Boy Harsher released the four-track EP, Country Girl. The EP
was released by Ascetic House as a one time vinyl pressing of 600 copies, which
sold out in a month. This new deluxe reissue titled Country Girl Uncut, includes four
previously unreleased tracks, for a total of eight songs. Country Girl marked a distinct
sonic shift with the band, as the EP was the first group of songs written in their new
home in rural Massachusetts. The novel isolation of the Northeast gave Jae and
Augustus plenty of time to write and explore new sounds, while reminiscing about
their time in the south. The move also put the band within driving distance of New
York City which was another important factor in their progression. The band
attributes partial influence on Country Girl EP to their frequent shows in Manhattan
and Brooklyn. Playing parties like Nothing Changes and Lost Enterprises gave them
access to a vibrant new music community. From industrial to noise table techno, the
band was enamored by the raw sound and fearless attitude of the artists and
crowds alike. The sound of Country Girl is defined by these two worlds that the band
existed within - their quiet, modest life in small town Massachusetts and their speedfueled
weekends in New York. Country Girl Uncut includes the complete track list of
songs from this time period

Very few albums manage to unveil their roots so honestly and at the same time succeed in creating something utterly distinct. ‚Of All The Things‘ from Jazzanova is one of these albums. Originally released in 2008 on Universal, it now gets a luxurious reissue on Sonar Kollektiv as a 3LP with pop-up gatefold cover including previously unreleased instrumentals. This format corresponds perfectly with the elegant opulence of the music that shines even brighter eleven years after its initial release. At no time is it unclear that this album is a deep bow to soul from the 1960s and 70s as well as genres like jazz, brazil and pop music in the vein of the early Beatles. Along these lines, ‚Of All The Things‘ is meant to be perceived as a tribute to the music that Jazzanova has been honoring affectionately in their DJ sets and which has always had a decisive influence on their own productions. At the same time, the Jazzanova guys have been successful in casually creating elaborate musical pieces which convey a deeply contemporary vibe – not least because of the multifarious references to electronic productions.
The path to this sophomore long player, which features the contribution of over 50 studio musicians, had been laid out beginning with Jazzanova‘s first album ‚In Between‘ from 2002.

The 12" also features the classic sounds of Fix's 'Life Beyond The Clouds' featuring Detroit legend Blake Baxter. Orlando Voorn's association with Detroit has been long running since day one and some of the music contained within this compilation celebrates that while showcasing some of the more overlooked tracks from the man's more than extensive catalogue. Idealist, Patrick Zigon, El Choop and Van Bonn took their hands on Insect O s full length album Atacama. Zurich based Idealist turns the epic New Dawn track into a raw techno mover with acidic chords and an air cutting hihat. For his remix of Resonance Biotop label head Patrick Zigon spices up the melodies with some disharmonic sounds and embeds it on top of a shuffling groove foundation. El Choop got on remix duties for Atacama and hit the ground running. Using multiband saturation and a granular software to create a pad, he s turned it into an entirely new exploding techno track. Van Bonn rounds up the remix edition. Using some trippy fx, he lays the chords and field recordings on top of a very deep dub beat in his mystic remix for Forest Of The Monkeys.

This four-track-EP celebrates the spirit out of which Seilscheibenpfeiler was born. It contains two unreleased 1994 productions by Sebastian Szary’s Fundamental Knowledge project, which started the label back in the day. They are complemented with present day reworks by Fadi Mohem and Skeemask, breathing new life into these 25 years old but far from outdated tracks by adding a little extra punch through modern means of production.
Fadi and Skeemask deliberately don’t apply any specific modern elements to Szary’s vintage tracks, instead they enhance their classic Minimal-meets-Hardcore-meets-Acid feel. It’s a transmission from a Golden Techno Age where all was one, capturing the sweaty, hard, yet light footed sound of post-wall Berlin, with all its associations from Tresor to Love Parade.
„1994 - 2“ sounds hypnotic and airy, while rumbling on the lower end. What a perfect opportunity for Skeemask to flesh out the track with his hefty trademark breakbeats! Fadi Mohem revamps the acidic „1994 - 21“ with equal respect and efficiency, providing the kick drum power needed for big soundsystems.
If you don’t look at the titles, it may at first be hard to discern which is which, what’s past and what’s present – a fact that honors both versions new and old.
