Right Of Me' is an incandescent and refined excerpt, like the entire new concept of the album 'Peaceful Sound For Broken Minds' due out on 28 Feb 24. The plan of Salvo Dub from Catania aka Go.Soul.Map does not stop here - we are in front of an artist with an exceptional creative phase, a hothouse of sparkling ideas that flow out in continuous streams like the lava of Etna in its full eruptive activity.

As with 'Pushing', 'Right Of Me' is always presented in a Nu-disco key, super Dance in a formula full of Pop and Soul enriched by keyboard sounds. Salvo comments on how proud he was of this track, which is certainly the strongest track on the whole album, and it is no coincidence that it was chosen as the second single. The performance and refined voice of Derane Obika complete the work, her lyrics touching a deep state that explores the relationship with one's self and faith.

WPH label boss Red D has always considered Adham Zahran to be the Moodymann/Theo Parrish of Egypt, so it is only fitting that for his second release on the label Adham joins the WPH U.S. Series ranks. His deep dusty house sound oozes soul and groove and this release is no exception.

Opening track ‘Flowing Green’ kicks off the E.P. with shining chords that will go down like a treat on any house dancefloor in the hands of the right DJ. ‘No Sorrow’ takes things more heady, but make no mistake, it kicks like the proverbial mule if you let it roam free. Without waiting for permission, Daito & impala kick off with 'Fuck Protocol', a warehouse tool containing two simple yet well placed synths followed by a pushy acid-lead giving the first track an incredibly energetic drive. impala's & vnice's 'Bohlen' is a ghetto-tech homage with a catchy vocal and a propulsive kick and bass combo which brings you straight to the party. The first solo excursion on Half Grand Records comes from label boss, Jon Doppler. Clocking in at 37 minutes, this collection plays more like a mini album than a 12”.

The Artifact is full of the cavernous electro vibes that Doppler hinted at on the previously released compilations from the label. And if this record is an Artifact, it belongs at the bottom of the Mariana Trench with its alien percussion and deep, fluid bass.

It’s hard to pick a favorite as any one of these tracks would add atmosphere and color to a set. “Sapphire” sounds like it would perfectly underscore the discovery of an ancient Atlantean civilization. While Tar Like Gold’s driving, arpeggiated basslines and vocal samples “tomorrow holds the key” look to the future.

It also marks the 50th 12" release for Tartelet Records. “Following up on Homespun, I wanted to try out some more dancefloor- oriented tracks again,” says Glenn Astro. “Keeping it simple and practical, while not being too predictable. I incorporated a lot of modular synth bits and experiments, with ‘Flux’ being an almost exclusively modular-based jam.” Incorporating tricky sound design and fluid structures, Astro’s new lines of enquiry never come at the expense of the groove. From the opening thump of ‘Penduloop’ onwards it’s apparent that his rugged rhythmic kinks are present and correct to hook in the dancers, while the melodic drops later in the track edge in a little melancholic flavour to take the mind somewhere else entirely. On this opening track, the artist explores new territory with his version of early naughties minimal house – a welcome slow burner. The EP title track ‘Purple’ slaps with purpose, not least in the Linn-esque drums and melodic bassline, but it’s a positively dreamy piece which skips on crooked beat formations and floats upwards via a multi-timbral tapestry of yearning synth shapes and robotic vocals. On ‘Out Of Office’ Glenn Astro provides a generous dose of electro nostalgia when he amps up the heavy-hearted feeling with aching string pads and electro-informed machine logic. The track becomes alive with its deep un-synced rhythms and dark bass notes, pushing further into the abyss. ‘Flux’, with its tooly feel, takes the electronic mantra further and sheds light on the source of much of Astro’s new sound palette. Crucially, even in its techiest moments, an irrepressible humanity shines through across Purple. Glenn Astro’s soul is the binding agent which links his early, sample-heavy house to his more explorative new angles, and it comes through in abundance on this fully-formed release.

Rusty shanks of dubstep and UKGristle from undisclosed operators on Youth, sustaining the label’s swagger after ace drops by Fumu, Authentically Plastic/Emma DJ & Toma Kami, and Hajj already in 2022 Behind a mask of anonymity, Nw/hr deploy a pair of hard-bitten cuts that sound like they were unearthed from the bottom of a bin circa 2003, throwing down fetid chunks of shower face halfstep and squashed 2-step swivel that was seemingly too dank, even for the early dubstep/grime cranks. We could be here all day speculating on the producer’s provenance - is it one, or even two, or more sets of mitts, on the desk? - but we’ll suffice it to say they slap in the club. ‘Nuclear Winter’ steps in first with something like an early Skream or Slaughter Mob workout, all oxidised snares and grim, skulking South London atmosphere, nowt flash or clever, but ruggedly rude and sopping with dirt for the dance. ‘Heavy Rain’ arrives in a vein of proto- or primordial Burial styles, depressing the tempo to a thuggish hulk accentuated with groaning bass and sore blue synth pads bound to bring a rictus shower face to OG steppers.

2020, a year that will be forever engraved in our memories as Year One of the Covid debacle. So much has already been said about it that we feel there is no need for more. However, 2020 was also the year when we’ve released Tapan’s remix to Decha’s song Niebla from her sold-out debut album Hielo Boca as part of Mt0028 Decha - Hielo Boca Remixes. This remix led to a fresh collaboration between the Serbian duo and the German vocalist, which in time bred a brand new track, titled simply Twenty. On Twenty, Tapan’s massive bass lines, heavy kicks and their sense for drama and epicness, meets Viktoria Wehrmeister aka Decha’s soft poetic lyrics and tribal style. The result is a massive slow yet heavy tribal industrial track for the alternative dance floors and late night situations in dark dark basements. La Luna is a Berlin based record label that focuses on merging music and art. Belfast based producer, Maricopa, starts of the label with his first release in over three years. This is his first mini LP and consists of 7 tracks, with three deep melodic tracks on the A side and 4 downtempo tracks on the B side. This record also features artist, Exit 47. The art work was done by Berlin based artist, Memo Vithana and is printed on the highest quality mat sleeve and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

Since 2010, Jackie House aka Jacob Sperber has been driving the A&R side of the San Francisco dance-music troupe running the HNYTRX label and producing remixes with other members under the Honey name. Putting label duties on hold in 2013 Sperber cocooned into his music studio, entering as a brave brunette and exiting as an ambitious blonde. "Stydive" is Jackie's debut to wax and has as much house-party in it as it does warehouse 4am. With a vocal sample nod to punk's past, “Stydive” pogo dances to dusty and stuttering live/analog drum rhythms and skips along a rude and infectious bass-line. Bound to find lovers of all persuasions for its dub-esque qualities, instantly recognizable hook, and open relationship with house music, this tune begged to have it's own side. That said, there is always room for some Matrixxman who takes Stydive to a strobe lit South of Market darkroom in his remix on the B. Spurting erotic lazers around a cavernous kick, this tune finishes off even the most experienced edger.

Ram Godt is a very versatile Belgian artist when it comes to producing and has a very strong sound. In this EP Ram Godt proposes a first track, "Raised by Goddess", more emotional and uplifting and a second cut, "Godt's Touch", thought in essence to be danced on the dancefloor, quality techno.

It is impossible not to find parallels between the sound of "La Ruta Destroy" and Victor Muerte. The young Valencian presents two somewhat different tracks. The first of these, "Corazón Valiente", with a more raw touch with vocals sung by himself and the second, "El Encuentro", with a more ambiental melody and somehow reminiscent to the trance proposed in past times

SLINK NYC’s rrao arrives on DJ Python’s Worldwide Unlimited label with a tight, rhythmically fluid triptych
that assembles bouncy, tuneful tabla pats, harmonium drones and levitational raga vocals into foot-stomping,
club ready structures.
Echoing foley clacks open rrao’s debut EP ‘hara’, tumbling into snatched bass womps that signal Bristol’s
soundsystem culture before a willowy South Asian vocal and subtle tablas shuttle us to the subcontinent.
The DJ and producer has established a solid reputation over the last decade working sound across New York
City’s club scene, performing regularly and heading up the SLINK NYC event series and label. If you’ve been
looking closely, you might have spotted their characteristic productions on SLINK’s ace compilation EPs, and
‘hara’ picks up where those tracks left off, working experimental sounds into three tracks that never stray too
far from the ‘floor.
‘ramanujan prime’, presumably named after Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, is the EP’s most
propulsive track, snipping choppy chatter and inserting into a beat sequence that’s part wiggly NYC club
and part dissociated Bollywood dream. But rrao saves the best for last, weaving tonally rich tabla sounds
into stuttered kick sequences and xenharmonic gong sounds that’d give Donato Dozzy or Batu a run for their
money. Never tipping into over-complication, it’s smart, futuristic club music that’s restrained, dubby and
refreshingly open-hearted. Fans of DJ Python won’t wanna miss this.

Label head Blue Hour steps up for the next release with an impressive two tracker, offering a new exploration of sound from the Berlin based producer. First up on the A side ‘Dimensions’ reveals a dramatic and eery driving Techno track with an atmosphere akin to early British IDM releases but with a more dancefloor-focused approach. ‘Dimensions’ is punctuated by warped mechanical percussive fx, pummeling drums and relentless groove highlighted by a simple yet effective melodic line which boldly opens things up and cuts through the complex layering of sound as the track evolves. On the B side ‘Sun Dogz’ adopts a similar soundscape, however picks up the tempo with a more Trance orientated production inspired by darker Goa/Psy styles and modern Fast-Trance productions. Hypnotic acidic lines, spatial fx and tribal percussion guide the listener to the main event. A heavily reverbed metallic hook and unique piece of sound design which takes multiple twists and turns along the course of the track. The EP wraps up a year of multiple successful releases from the label, with next year marking 10 years since the labels inception - keep an eye on things to come.

Early 90s' UK club oriented project comprised by "two young lads that made a record", as innocently described by Mark Lloyd, one half of Deep Pearl together with Mark Robertson. Originally released on mysterious private press label called "Big Apple" based in Croydon (South London). A dancefloor oriented production that seems to transition from earlier acid sounds into more hypnotic early progressive directions, propelled by an established Mediterranean appreciation of its epoch combined with a somewhat naive rawness and energy in the studio, keeping it simple and effective at upper 130's BPM. Clearly the work of someone with veteran status in rave mileage. A-side features dreamy female vocals (courtesy of two other young lads from Germany, at the time, also known as "Air Liquide"), easy to imagine being played over a dusky horizon in Ibiza or an airfield in Suffolk. B-side mix is another peak dancefloor torpedo armed with heavy breakbeat shrapnel, hard to miss - if you know you know - newly re-issued with new artwork channeling Sean Connery memorabilia in acid mode "Hunt for Tie-dye October".

These tracks were carefully selected by Antal and would place them all in central role of his set. A-side features the vinyl premiere "Pursuit Of The Journey" by Baltimore’s mastermind Ge-ology. Deep house with beautifully vibrant beats, glossy voice sampling and synth melodies that takes you to the vivid journey. Ge-ology has been active in a wide range of fields from hip-hop to house since its early days. “Darkly active” is the exact word to express him. Without making a display of one's originality, he is showing the current state of the fresh US deep house. A superb deep house with a mellow and raw Afro-futuristic rhythms played on actual machines "Gyenyame ("Only God")" is recorded with license on the B-side. This was released in 2006 from excellent label “Urbanicitym” founded by Chicago producer Shannon Harris who is known for almost all of its work being featured on David Mancuso's Loft playlist. As the first release was a collectible 2LP package of Rush Hour's taste from Japanese to rare groove, Caribbean, soul and left field, this EP "Beyond Space And Time 002" has changed pace from the first volume with a more focus on dance tracks with a deeper flavor with true value delivered from the dancefloor of the Rainbow Disco Club.
