Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen, a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. He is well known for his works on ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His 1997 album Substrata was voted by the users of the Hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album.

The Petrified Forest mini-album is inspired by the movie of the same name, released in 1936 and directed by Archie Mayo.

A2) ""Floating"" This is truly vintage-sounding acid with 2 overlapping powerful TB-303 patterns with NO distortion, haunting strings, and a beating drum track for extra thump! B1) ""Falling Forever"" The mellow but depressing synth pads will definitely grab you, but the repetitive, hypnotizing bassline will keep you. Add a minimal, pounding 808 and it makes this track one to play over and over...and OVER. B2) ""Strobe Light"" A minimalist track with a basic but adequate house piano riff and a freaky synth lead. Combining all the traits of an international superhero or intrepid comic book adventurer, the true identity, whereabouts and history of the spectacular Italian composer known as Gerardo Iacoucci has been a mystery to record collectors for many years. As a result of the best efforts of secretive archivists and DJs as well as and the overprotective force field that surrounds the clandestine world of Italian library music, the commanding experimental psychedelic pop music made singlehandedly by this early pioneer of the anti-genre time after time rises to the top of collectors’ want lists, commands huge ransom notes, ignites dancefloors and decimates genre tags before returning to its mythical status as one of the kings of the underworld without removing his mask. Despite the fact that original Italian copies of records by Gerardo Iacoucci are amongst the rarest, enigmatic fixtures of European psychedelia, his music simply refuses to be ghettoised and as the name of this album suggests the history of this artist reads like the memoirs of a genuine musical adventurer as well as a well-travelled prophet of experimental music and unsung pillar of Italian jazz and sound design. Recorded in early 1970, Iacoucci's wide-eyed L'Avventura suite spanned 6 sides of loud, heavyweight monophonic vinyl for Romano Di Bari's Deneb label and created an epically detailed blueprint for independent mood music companies whilst sharing release schedules with likeminded workaholics Alessandro Alessandroni and A. R. Luciani. However, Gerardo's adventure didn't begin here…

London/LA producer Kenny Dickenson crafted his stunning remix of Ned Doheny’s “Labor Of Love” to mark the Be With Ned tour in March 2015. The gentle disco re-rub was leaked by influential blogs and has been wreaking elegant havoc on both sides of the Atlantic ever since, setting a new gold standard for AOR remixes. Beloved of everyone who’s heard it, we’ve been inundated with requests for a physical version.

As RedKen, Dickenson came to prominence with his cult edit of Steve Perry’s “She’s Mine” – an instant hit on the AOR Disco scene – whilst his double A Side Fleetwood Mac 12" with Psychemagik was number 1 across Juno, Piccadilly and countless others, gaining him further notoriety. Here, taking Ned’s stellar version and creating new melodies by twisting original sax solos inside out, Kenny’s remix is elevated further with the introduction of his sophisticated keyboard work and additional white-hot production.

Completed the day of Ned’s penultimate show, Kenny bounded up to Pete Fowler – on DJ duties – and handed him the demo. Ever the showman, Pete played it seconds after Ned finished. Momentarily mortified at the chutzpah involved, we realised we were listening to something sensational. The key element would be Ned’s opinion. He aired it the next day, breaking a drained silence as we boarded a flight to Berlin: “There was a remix of my song played last night.” Heart in mouth, we were in for a deserved dressing down. “Pretty good; I liked it.” And with that, we were determined to commit this wonderful reimagining to vinyl.

After two years of major label wrangling and artist nudging, Be With Records are delighted to finally present this as an officially authorised, one-sided 12". Enhancing the package, the record comes appropriately adorned with striking new artwork from Pete Fowler himself and liner notes from all parties involved. Expedition 1 is the first cut: a tight drum kit and sub bass frequencies come along resonant sweeps and subtle drones in a non break arrangement that automatically leads to hypnosis.

The Exium duo takes over Expedition 1, reforming the frequencies, working wisely with drones and atmospheres preserving the pulsating feel below. extracting the mental spirit of the track in a continuously evolving structure.

Expedition 2 is a more profound number, low filtered components, again drones and atmos as fundamental ingredient until shuffled hihats add the needed movement to keep things on place.

Expedition 3 fattens the bass, and has a more complex synth approach while preserving the ambiental factor, the elements come in and out of the game wisely creating a profound but still danceable track.

directed. Thanks to this, they have gained the support of two fantastic artists: Orlando
Voorn, undisputed nexus between Detroit - Holland and Santiago Salazar, musician,
producer and fundamental part of “Los Hermanos” and “Galaxy 2 Galaxy”, from
Underground Resistance. "000056" is the dawn of this launch, illuminates a new positive road with warm tones, which delimits the outline of large buildings in Detroit. A hopeful look translates into music through harmony, melody and rhythm, fundamental characteristics of this composition.

"000056 Orlando Voorn" captures the essence of the sun and places it directly on the dance floor. "000052" shows the versatility of which E110101 is capable to. The dark side of the moon,

After a decade releasing club-savvy music, argentinian producer Alejandro Mosso has lately approached a richer and more profound sound. But moreover making people move, it's music that shows a desire of telling stories. "I prefer to refer to them as songs instead of tracks, they all have a certain narrative", says Alejandro. Cuts as Rhea, Uranus and Naiads capture a very specific kind of serene bliss, one in which melancholy is more reassuring than bitter. It's a dichotomy that perfectly captures the ups and downs of any restless mind. We're back from hibernation after releasing the third Roundup at the end of 2016 and we're starting off with a new signing. Milan based Parker Madicine joins Heist with some high tech funk with a serious nod to the “D” and we've got Byron the Aquarius delivering a great jazzy remix. You'll be more likely to find Parker Madicine browsing through boxes of old jazz and soul records than you'll see him showcasing his social media skills. He's a real vinyl junky and moreover a hip hop fanatic and probably loves his synthesizers more than his mother. Apart from promoting funk and soul oriented parties in Milan, he founded CT-HI records, short for “Contemporary Theories of Hip Hop Influences". A few years back he teamed up a.o. with his buddies Veez-O and Turbojazz to create some Dilla and early 90's inspired hip hop and these influences are clearly present in his EP for Heist. With Heartbreaker, he lays down a dreamy but heavy groove for the first minute or so, arpeggiating its way to the moment where the airy pads make room for a looser than loose groove where synth stabs and bass line dance around each other creating a killer vibe. Zawinul starts in the same manner, rough kick, loose and degraded hi-hats and dreamy Rhodes chords. The tracks build further with some lovely brassy hits and arps, whereas Placebo is the most stripped back but high tempo track, where an airy and delayed bassline does most of the work to set the mood. We're really happy to have Byron the Aquarius reworking one of PM's tracks. He's been on a roll with his releases on Sound Signature, Wild Oats and recently remixed Max Graef on Ninja Tune. Jayson Wynters is a DJ that is able to combine many genres in one set and make it work. Wynters was first known as a garage MC in Birmingham, before rising to prominence in the city's underground radio and club scene, where he showcased an impressive knowledge of rare groove and house music. As he got older his taste for music began to mature, his collection began to grow, and he soon began to DJ. Using music as an outlet for expression, whether in the form of DJing or having fun on some drum machines and synths, is one of the most defining features to Wynters. Ambient power duo Anjou’s sophomore statement continues in the vein of their 2014 debut, unfurling a full hour of mesmeric synthetic drift and veiled melodic undertow. Comprised of Mark Nelson (of pioneering post-rock experimentalists Labradford and Pan·American) and Robert Donne (of Labradford, Aix Em Klemm, Cristal), the group works largely in long-form suites of sound, alternately spacious and dense.

Epithymia’s six pieces embrace flux and ambiguity: drones swell and shudder, hushed currents of noise glitch and dissolve, atmospheres congeal and liquify. As with the participants’ prior projects, Anjou evokes a shadowed, mysterious mood, variously melancholy and transcendent. The album is an accumulation of craftsmanship and experience, blurred forms traced in light and fog.

The publication Source Book 1 represents the beginning of a and authorized review of the past 20 years of the label Raster-Noton. A short introductory preface by olaf bender is followed by a keynote interview conducted by berlin publicist Max Dax that provides an insight into the identity and philosophy of the label heads. The main part of this first Source Book comprises the extensive catalog of all releases and series published between 1996 and 2016. Tabular listings of various formats and products that were distributed or curated by Raster-Noton complete the catalog. A further exclusive part of the publication is the accompanying Archiv 4 CD, which is only available in connection with the book. Raster-Noton‘s Archiv series was first introduced in december 2003 as a supplement to The Wire magazine and has since been continued in loose sequence with different artists related to the label. Following the idea of the label which defines itself as a platform for its artists, the releases in the catalog part are not presented according to their format, invested effort or meaning, but sorted according to their catalog number and presented on exactly one double page, whereas some series were summarized. As a continuation of this archival revision, further »source books« are planned that will document artist profiles, installations, composition techniques and sources of inspiration. The Source Book 1« is limited to 1.000 copies. Its modular design allows to remove, exchange or add pages, which makes it possible to update the content in due time. A cardboard slipcase covers the 400-page, 3-kilo book and guarantees a safe stand in the bookshelf.
