After his highly publicized breakup with Taylor Swift at LAâ€™s Viper Room ,Iain Howie returned to Vancouver. Taylor released â€œBad Blonde Boyâ€, a breakup song about Iain and Iain quickly rebutted with â€œ Patternsâ€ about Taylor. He began working on his solo album and got a remix of Patterns by his shady neighbour â€œJay Tripwireâ€. Partly because of the fact Taylor could never stand Tripwire. Over the course of a year Tripwire churned out 10 different remixes for an alternative vinyl only release. Jay would have his friend Anton play various remixes from his hot dog cart in Bucharest. One early morning it caught the ear from Cally. Cally had only intended to buy a foot long Frankenfurter after Guesthouse, but he was so captivated, that he asked Anton for a cassette tape of the song. Most Romanian DJs often look to Antonâ€™s hot dog cart to find obscure unreleased gems. Cally began his closed door ritual of compiling songs for closing Sunwaves that year. When getting his tea leaves read, his spirit guide advised him on using â€œPatternsâ€ as the closing song to the festival. Whether it was the come down from drugs or low serotonin, SW attendees could be seen crying on the dance floor during the song. The tears were then collected and drank by Raresh

Welcome to Aqualaxy, a collaborative project where Warning joins forces with art historian C.C. McKee from Philadelphia and international queer activist dia_shi from Berlin. Accompanying McKee’s book on the debut album by late-90s electronic pop band Aqua, Aqualaxy is a compilation of contemporary queer artists from North America and Europe commissioned to create their own takes on songs from Aqua's debut album. The result is an expansive blossoming variety of music, from sizzling trance pop, to eerie darkwave atmospheres, to cheeky dancefloor weapons.

With Aqualaxy, Warning presents a release that playfully deviates from the label's usual tracks, highlights trans musicians, and offers fresh takes on nostalgic favourites to the community. Embrace Aqualaxy’s endless fluidity, a space where everything becomes possible, where some changes aren’t even a second thought. Did you know that when the kobudai reef fish reaches a certain size she changes her sex from female to male? Did you know that when the largest female in a school of Clownfish dies the male swaps sex to take her place? The dance floor is also a space of self-reflection. The A-side is catered by two artists from one of our favorite collectives, De Lichting. With “A Reflection”, RDS opens up and shares a beautifully crafted house gem, providing for a soft and introspective yet groovy “eyes closed” dance. Nathan Kofi takes on the A2 with his unique deep house sound, layering sweet and cinematic synth sounds over an Afro-induced drum sequencing, creating a warm sonic envelope. On the B-side, James Free mixes acid synthesis, roaring bass line, and breaks to create a progressive and subtly melodic dance floor track, one that leaves you positively triggered. With the final track of the record, Rotterdam’s Mata Disk offers a glowing light over polyrhythms and very electronic noises, offering this body of work a deserved radiating curtain close.

Almost 3 years after the release of "Mathusalem", François Ier reveals his fiery successor, "Incendie". In keeping with his previous releases, this new opus has been conceived on the basis of enveloping layers, deep bass and harmonies that are always very rich. The melancholy dimension characteristic of his music is also omnipresent, although it sometimes asserts itself with a form of violence. Like its abundant cover, this new opus deploys an extremely varied range of sounds, most often evoking strong English influences, with breakbeat, jungle, drum'n'bass and new-wave rhythms, all supported by vocal samples with dancehall, reggae, r'n'b, reggaeton and hip-hop accents, resulting in a hybrid sound to say the least. "Incendie" is marked by the systematic use of the Prophet 8 synthesizer, whose wild, constantly shifting sound underlines the fiery character of this new opus.

Astral Cinema is a collaboration between four musicians and film composers from Copenhagen and London: Jonas Struck, Nikolaj Torp Larsen, Anders 'ac' Christensen and Jakob Høyer. The four acclaimed artists have worked together in many contexts, but in 2022 they decided to create an ensemble to play a single live job. The result was so unique that they subsequently went into Black Tornado and recorded a record full of cinematic, dreamy soundscapes, which at the same time contain the structure of melodic signature themes.

Astral Cinema is now releasing their first album, which primarily consists of original compositions with the DNA of all four musicians – inspired by electronic music, space-age, jazz, afrobeat and surf. All tracks go in their own direction, where a theme or an idea from the studio is allowed to go off the rails, while the rest of the soundscape follows. With thoughtfulness, dreamy ballads and recognizable melodies, the band thus takes the listener on an otherworldly journey, where there is room to form your own images and interpretations. Laurent Garnier select new tracks for [QR]V.200.SPK.24 by six COD3 QR favourites Jules Wells, Skatman, Works Of Intent, Squal G, YANNLEAN and Joaquim Plossu.

Following June's "[QR]V.172.TAM.24", featuring tracks by Avision, DJ Deep and Deetron, Laurent Garnier's COD3 QR label is back with another vinyl-only release. This varied 6-pack, coded "[QR]V.200.SPK.24" is comprised of exclusive tracks from members of the extended COD3 QR family: Skatman, Works Of Intent, Yann Lean, and Joaquim Plossu & Salem Focus, alongside Jules Wells' "Dreamer" (released digitally on the label in May) and Squal G's "Waiting 4U" (from April).

Skatman, the Berlin based, Tunisian born DJ, producer and label head of Cognitive Prophecy follows up his huge COD3 QR track "Tribute to a Dancefloor" with the deep, groovy and aptly titled "Transcending House". He has already gained recognition for his approach to electronic music, bridging the gap between classic and contemporary with tracks on Innervisions and Correspondent, becoming one of the most intriguing and captivating artists.

Jules Wells who delivered the infectious "The Clap" on COD3 QR 016 is back with the retro House sound of "Dreamer". Jules Wells is from Bordeaux, France. Strongly influenced by the Motor City, Jules has released on the likes of Submerge, Twilight 76, KMS, Planet E, Brique Rouge and Logos (Macedonia).

Works Of Intent, a core member of the UK South Asian collective DAYTIMERS and Emotional Weaponry label owner, has recently released an acclaimed guest mix for the legendary John Digweed's Transitions radio show. Known for his ability to blend emotive storytelling with rhythmic precision, he follows up his "Richer Sound" album (released last year on the label) with the intricate and uncompromising "Subversive".

Producer and manager of the Slates Records label, Squal G is a French artist who has been passionate about electronic music since the early '90s. Initially, he practised his art as a DJ before turning to machines and computers as he progressed with production. A multi-faceted composer and DJ, Yann Lean also works as a sound engineer for himself and other artists. Whether working as a duo with Madben and their side project Trunkline or as a solo artist, he has won the trust and support of prestigious labels such as KMS, Bedrock, Planet Rhythm, Skryptom and Materia, as well as COD3 QR who released "Hope" in 2020. Now he's back with tribal drums on "To Get Close".

French born, Mexican resident Joaquim Plossu has been making music as a producer, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer for the past 20 years with releases on COD3 QR, 31 Recordings, Fokuz, Repertoire, Deep Heads, Planet Rhythm and more. Both music composer and producer for TV and films, as well as Drum & Bass producer in his spare time, he teams up again with Leeds (UK) based Salem Focus (Fokuz Records / Soulvent / Galacy) for some energetic D&B on closing track "Cosmic".

Launching their new collaborative dancefloor release series, the Bangkok-based duo Chalo and Vell, with support from MetalMetal, proudly presents "Made From Moss." Inspired by the simple, flowerless plants, the EP and release series present a collection of simple and driven club-focused rollers, ideal for any dancefloor.
The lead track, "The Man With No Teeth," opens with a growling bassline and cracking hi-hats throughout, balanced with dynamic vocals that pop and sizzle throughout the many drops, sure to have dancers moving. Followed by "Wrong Portal," Chalo expertly crafts a driving acid bassline and simple yet flowing synths throughout, keeping the pulse and creating a dynamic sense of groove. The B-Side opens with "MarinExp (Club edit)," a track featuring Thai musician MetalMetal. The track cuts with breakbeats and tambourines while keeping Chalo's unmistakable driving kicks and cuts. "MarinExp" is balanced with a breakdown of flowing synths and dynamic vocal shouts. The final track of the EP, "Latency Phantasy" (Chalo and Vell), shows both artists at their best: a techno-flowing acid roller equipped with chopped vocals and surprises throughout the track.

Opener 'aaa001a' is a warped cut for freaky 'floors with trippy vocal details and gloopy beats and bass. 'bbb001b' is more airy and light in its silky minimal rhythms but is detailed with some paranoid pads that keep you on edge while 'bbb002b' rides a nice gritty, propulsive beat and has some wonky, detuned keys adding colour. Another great outing from this low-key but high-quality label.
