It is the next expression of progression in sound for Zar, a movement further into, above and beyond the foundations laid down from his debut EP “Practice Makes Miracles” - which was listed on Bandcamps’ “Best Electronic Music of March 2023” and described by DJ Mag as “a striking solo debut that sets Zar out as an exciting prospect in the sphere of electronic composition.”

'Self Knowledge' is a deep, techy roller clocking it at nearly 10 mins - plenty of space to expand into its full potential - the groove grows ever more hypnotic and engaging as the track unfolds. Next up is 'A Reefa' - a non too subtle reference to a certain herb that might have inspired this loose yet highly funky deep house jam. 'Casa De Estrela' changes the vibe up with a more direct and jacking track - even though it would work at prime time, Chocky's feel for space and drama make sure the track will be heard in many diverse surrounding and sets this year.

The mix of Dub and Techno is not exactly new. However, JPatterson found a way to combine these genres in a way that checks all the boxes to be classified as fresh and exciting. His rustic Prog-a-Dub grooves burst with reckless danceability, the sound of his tumpet has an emotional intensity that simply doesn’t exist in the digital music domain. But the catchiest element of his track Elevator is yet another one: It’s his voice and its contagious casualness. The Dub Version of this track is a bright summer day turned into rhythm and melody. 'Lothian Buses' is an EP of genre collisions with Proc Fiskal amalgamating his twinkling, caffeinated grime sound with the rhythms and sounds of other genres, without ever overthinking it. To kick off, `Thurs Jung Yout' is a kind of shoegaze drill with strings and gentle tones swelling and dissipating against busy drill beats. `Baguettes' is a more classic Proc sound, a galloping rhythm against a sparse melody that was a quick fix up for a show that turned out well. `Choco Frito (Calamari)' was influenced by the good life, DJing in Portugal in the sunshine and hearing Kuduro played out. The latticing drum patterns nod to the style, dropping into a sunny accordion chorus with a plucked guitar line. `Scarab Aloph' is Proc's style compressed, full of micro-glitches, tight drum fills and incidental drop-outs across a pretty melody, while `HopeTak2' is his percussive, breezy take on funky house with smiley melodic stabs. Finally, `Mullit Madollock' takes the sonics of airy Bukem-style atmospheric jungle, an instantly recognisable inspiration that's not been as foregrounded in Proc's work before, refitted and updated with grime-inspired melodic bass kicks.

Revelation EP is the debut release of Australian record label Denude, showcasing the latest work of Melbourne based artist Eddie Hale. The title track Revelation is both driving and warm - layered percussion lines rise and fall amongst Detroit inspired stabs and subtly textured elements creating an infectious and uplifting groove. A2?s Surging is both tunnelling and driving - straight into late night / early hours territory - with swirling sounds forming a hypnotizing sonic bath for the body and mind. Rounding up the A side with a change of pace, Aperture?s syncopated percussion leads us on a peaceful detour through ethereal synthscapes as we follow the round journey of an evolving sound that travels full circle. On the flip, Joel Mull?s Hypno Mix of Revelations propels the listener with mechanical precision through dizzyingly expansive atmospheres of truly mind melting proportions. Closing out the EP is Terrace of an Elephant, tranquil and reflective synth-work juxtaposed with coloured stabs striking through like comets across the night sky - brings us back down to Earth in a contemplative mood.

Reemerging from the threshold of the cosmic vortex, Black Lodge returns with another sonic artifact that is charged with vigorous chaotic energy, known as Experiment_zero. Accounts of the radiant object's origin are as mysterious as the raw energy that utters from its core. Following a close study, the guardians of the portal suspect that "Experiment Zero" was a primordial experiment rooted in the slam jack pits and DIY warehouse rituals of ages passed. A sonic dialog constructed of various languages, spanning from roots-house jak to bare-knuckled electro are revealed across the artifact - a revolutionary tale that surpasses the constructs of ephemerality, with a refusal to be ignored. Across the release the listener is confronted with fearless acid lines that are underscored by a tone of revolution, and sets the stage for a human voice that switches between modes of a sharp and mutated presence. The power of such sonic objects are both celebrated and rejected by various tribal societies. It is all dependent on the belief structures and traditional histories of its members. Those that belong to the cult of Ron Hardy, Mad Mike Banks, Traxx, and JTC will welcomingly be drenched in its riotous energies. It is for the dedicated, not the light-hearted. After further research it has been discovered that, Experiment Zero is the product of Dona, aka Dj Plant Texture and Mike Tansella Jr. of Son of Traders, both products of the ancient mercantile city of Bari in Southern Italy. Previous works from these artists have been featured on Creme Organization, Gravitational Waves, Unknown to Unknown, and Illian Tapes. All sonic experimentation was recorded in one take to capture the raw energy of instantaneous collaborative sound craft operating in flux. Copenhagen’s Tartelet is returning to their roots with a dancefloor-focused EP, Pizza Trance, from Dirk 81—a.k.a label head Emil M. Nyholm. Having previously dropped a slew of tracks as Muff Deep and CTEPEO ‘57 (with Max Graef), the DJ and producer is blessing the universe with three cuts of dancefloor heaven under a new moniker lifted from his days tagging concrete walls in the 90s. Influences draw everywhere from disco, to African hi-life, dub, Underworld, a few old trance records, and timeless house music.
Recorded over a year in Berlin and Copenhagen, the record kicks off with “M.F.C”, a disco-afro-house hybrid oozing with Roland Jupiter 6 keys and some funky drums processed on old equipment from the former USSR. The B-side spreads things deep and delicious with “Pizza Trance (Main Mix),” a euphoric serving of sounds that substitutes pepperonis and pineapples for glittering sequencers and a bangin’ bass drum.
The EP’s closer tastes like a bit of both, mixing up some more acid sounds into the recipe for a retro-sounding house track. It’s another tasty delight from the label that will fulfil any and all late-night cravings, especially if you fiend for Neapolitan pizza.. Leave room for seconds.

This package (which contains a version from fellow West Coast artist Moon B) is dripping with heart wrenching synth soars and compact drum works that are built with the fierceness that is so significant for both the label and the artist.

If one looks at the output of Los Angeles based artist Mat/Matix , he d find that this quite illusive figure from the LA scene of contemporary electronic funk has quite some good tracks in his compact repertoire. This package (which contains a version from fellow West Coast artist Moon B) is dripping with heart wrenching synth soars and compact drum works that are built with the fierceness that is so significant for both the label and the artist.
Freaked in Private even though it s an EP feels more like a mini album of some sort. The opening track City Chiller is a slap bass heavy venture into G funk tainted dance music that perfectly utilizes an uplifting intermezzo, before heading into it s chorus which is highlighted by loosely played synth notes and some interesting vocal shots that are so significant for LA music from by gone days. The version by fellow funketeer Moon B goes a different route. The slap bass has been altered into a deep and sophisticated bass pattern which acts as the spine of the version. The drums are somewhat more outlandish, and the pad that floats on top works perfectly with the glow of the synths.

The opening track City Chiller is a slap bass heavy venture into G funk tainted dance music that perfectly utilizes an uplifting intermezzo, before heading into it s chorus which is highlighted by loosely played synth notes and some interesting vocal shots that are so significant for LA music from by gone days. The version by fellow funketeer Moon B goes a different route. The slap bass has been altered into a deep and sophisticated bass pattern which acts as the spine of the version. The drums are somewhat more outlandish, and the pad that floats on top works perfectly with the glow of the synths.

Hold it down is a disco ish track that utilizes very smooth and soul touching elements that are built around various piano variations and a beautiful break with percussion in the fashion of Shuggie Otis Aht uh mi Hed .

Central Bank is keeping up the pace with a very hazy atmosphere and amazing vocals which ooze throughout. Very musical and warm. 135th is a piano track that again strikes the right chord for mellow week-ends in a park. Wayactive is closing down this extended effort with euphoric synths and uplifting chords.

A1. Santiago Salazar - “Espacio Profundo”
Santiago Salazar is one of the underground’s most accomplished players, having been involved with the Ican and Los Hermanos projects amongst many others. With releases on Planet E, Underground Resistance, and Rush Hour you know you can expect the finest production. His track “Espacio Profundo” is a deep, beautiful house jam with an almost disco bassline, perhaps different from what you’ve heard from him but no less outstanding.
A2. Lerosa - “Ausgang”
Lerosa has been releasing bangers through a variety of labels throughout the world, with his album on Uzuri and EP for Apartment being the most recent examples. On “Ausgang”, he creates a perfect summertime house track based around a looping vocal snippet and funky synth chords, sure to kill at outdoor sets and pool parties as well as clubs.
B1. Moonstarr - “Complications”
Moonstarr may have been relatively quiet recently, but his track record speaks for itself: releases on Sonar Kollectiv, Compost, and his own Public Transit contain many classics. For LWYF, Kevin contributes his craziest jam in a decade, “Complications”, one that is sure to be another party classic! A raved up cut with tight broken techno drum patterns, this will appeal to fans of funky dance music from bass to house and more.
B2. Jason Fine - “Bang”
Jason Fine got his start releasing music on Omar-S’ famed FXHE Records, and since then has been dropping heaters on Kontra-Musik that have been played by many top techno deejays. “Bang” explores the deeper end of his sound, with thick bass and delayed chords to create a hypnotic mood that will work wonders in late nite sets, making the heads go nuts.

Kickflip Mike (Joschka Seibt) is back with 'Three Turtles' - a collaborative EP on Tartlet Records with Berlin bass maestro, Julius Conrad.
While Julius seems like a new addition to camp Tartelet, he's been in the extended family for years. The son of Jazz bass legend Jurgen Attig and childhood homies with Max & Kickflip, he's existed in the crew's inner circle since day dot.

What you get on Kickflip Mike and Julius Conrad's new record is a medley of gritty drum distortion, frenetic bass guitar-work and (as ever) a dumptruck of a groove.
As richly diverse as most on the Tartelet roster, it's a record that dabbles variously in analogue house, beat-led instrumentals & elements of breakbeat & garage - it's all here.

First out the traps is title track 'Three Turtles', a kick-heavy club jam overwritten with Julius' warm warbling basslines and wah-wah guitar.
After snaking through 'BBQ Skit', a wonky beat-erlude in the Madlib vein, the record winds into 'Some Joint', a wandering house workout with tons of virtuosity from Conrad's axe.
The EP closes on 'Voodoo Dude': a wonderfully deep finale snapped through with choppy breaks and fuzzy samples.

Taken from top to bottom, 'Three Turtles' is a record that shrugs off the limitations of 'club music' loose and playful enough to reflect Kickflip & Conrad's colourful lives outside the club, as well as inside.

5 years old, born, raised and based in Berlin, but all at home in the club. Nitam’s debut Retold EP (U-TON 06) already set the tone in 2015, and here we are three catalogue numbers and 14 months later with his second 12" release on Unterton taking a similar line as his debut four-tracker did: new varied sonic themes with an overall fresh sound. Although still being young of age, Nitam outlines once again his interest in dance music from the late 80s and early 90s, presenting himself schooled by classic Detroit House as well as Chicago Acid House, but all without limiting himself to a restricted pallet of styles or catering towards musical expectations.

Toby Tobias coming through with the fresh raw s**t for Delusions! Two original tracks here absolutely loaded full of old school analogue machine funk and crazy dub tricknology. It?s Burning builds around a beautiful chiming synth while a filtering acid bass line and 808 snares add a distinct bit of B-Boy to the mix. I Give You love heads for a more rugged house vibe complimenting the intense, loosely timed vocal hits perfectly. On the flip we have London Housing Trust bringing serious heat on their remix, jacking up the tempo but adding some decidedly tripped-out synth tweaks resulting in a show stopping reworking primed for freaking people out on the dancefloor. Finally we have that man Lauer working his magic on It?s Burning, building up the track around some beautifully euphoric synth stabs and bassline. The perfect close to an EP in which it?s very difficult to try and find words to justify. We think Toby Tobias has turned in some of his best ever work here and absolutely love this whole record so really hope you share the same admiration for the release as we do!
