Long time supporters of Kniteforce will be well aware of the truly amazing series, Remix Records & Kniteforce presents ‘The Remix’s’, and here we have Part 17! All the records in this series are insanely good and this EP does not disappoint. To start we have the mighty Bay B Kane taking one of Phuture Assassins newer tracks and turning it into an amazing jungle track, using the original vibe and cranking it up to the maximum with a proper early Bay B Kane style. Next is an absolutely mental remix from Heavy Systems Inc. of an already mental track! One of NRG’s most insane tracks gets the rough and raw treatment that HSI is known for, drawing on the underground sound of 1992. The action doesn’t stop on the other side either! The living legend that is Austin takes an already hugely popular track from Sunny & Deck Hussy and absolutely sprinkles it with awesome. This is Austin at his best, and it shows how he has not missed a step in 3 decades of music production. Rounding out this installment is The BradderCase remix of Stu Chapman’s Rude Boy. The duo of BradderCase, aka Paul Bradley and The Lowercase, took this Stu Chapman track and flipped it on its head. Extracting the energy from the original and lighting a fire under it, showing that hardcore can be fun and serious at the same time.

Berlin-based synthoholic and Watergate resident Biesmans steps up for the sixth installment of Running Back's Super Sound Singles series. Taking inspiration from Confetti's 1988 new beat smash This Is The Sound Of C, Biesmans revisits his Belgian roots and reimagines three gems from Belgium's rich '80s music scene. Firstly, Biesmans gets to grips with synth pop stalwarts Schmutz and their '80s breakthrough Love Games, polishing the track up with a motorik disco sheen and chunky bass arpeggios. The remix swaps the new romantic vibe of the original for 8-bit arcade game energy, and calls to mind robotic dance moves and freeze frame video. It's a reboot of a long lost classic that sounds even better the second time round, and will transport dancers young and old alike onto a timeless dancefloor. Next up for reinterpretation is Luc van Acker and Anna Domino's quirky woodblock and piano-led song Zanna. Biesmans transforms it from a melancholic anthem to lost love, and into a darkly uplifting discotheque burner, as icy melodies, synth pads and guitar licks create the perfect bed for Anna Domino's plaintive vocals to float on top. As per the other versions, the instrumental dub version follows, and highlights just how Biesmans has built each of these remixes from the ground up, existing as stand alone tracks in their own right. Rounding off the 12" Biesmans turns his attention to new wave rock band Scooter and their ode to self-reliance You, slowing it down slightly to a heavier beat, with hi hat triplets and a touch of Radiophonic Workshop atmosphere. By condensing the original to its essential vocal and synth melodies, Biesmans reconstructs a pumping 130bpm monster, certified to supercharge ravers all through the night. Two and a half years after the inception of Shall Not Fade's bass-focused sub-label, and a year since its last edition, Time Is Now is proud to present Allstars Vol.3.

For most, the artists featured on the compilation need little introduction. This will almost certainly be true for the Leicester duo who kick off proceedings with a fresh garage cut. "Pick Me Up" is Y U QT's second contribution to the Time Is Now catalogue and sees them rep the Midlands sound with their take on UKG, complete with a 4x4 speed garage switch-up, sure to energise any dancefloor.

Next up, proving that all good things come in twos, is Manchester duo Cortese who first blessed the label with the warmth of their tuneful concoctions in June last year. This time around is no different: "Regatta" is a real summertime banger, with sunny piano stabs and arpeggiating synths that drift above.

Keeping things soulful is Dublin producer Prozak who hots things up with the buoyant 4x4 garage track "Next To You" - his third release on TIN.

Yosh sees in the compilation's B-side with "To Me" - a track that captures the London badman's ability to keep you on your toes with stuttering breaks that catch you off-guard.

Next up, and repping Copenhagen for the third time on the label, is Main Phase with the aptly-named "Pull Up Tool"- a thumping 4x4 UKG track which gives a healthy dose of ruffage before Groovy D closes proceedings with speed garage banger "Wun4Me". Set closer business.

The record itself oozes fun and good times, which is what Kathy's music has always been about. Diving straight back into that classic 90’s House sound, Mark Knight delivers a taste of his finest production to date after unearthing Todd Terry’s edit of ‘Buddah’ by Darryl James & David Anthony Project, shaping up a seriously killer reworking of this gem fresh for the dance floor in 2023. Next up, renowned German selector Eddie Thoneick makes a label debut with his club orientated big room weapon ‘Take It Back’. Taking it back straight through to the dance floor, Eddie Thoneick has become a name synonymous with high quality productions, providing remixes for Armand Van Helden, Steve Angello, Bob Sinclar and David Guetta. Trans Tehnopolis Express is a sonic techno train on an international route that connects Kiev - Ljubljana - Madrid - Belgrade. The locomotive is driven by six main drivers: the magnificent well-known Kessell with his uncompromising heavy groove techno bit. A veteran of the hard extraspheric and hypnotic techno Stanislav Tolkachev. Alavux - which breaks the monotony between East and West and last but not least, three engine drivers, members of the underground techno movement Tehnopolis from Ljubljana: Organon, LXS and Thon Kland, who established an international sonic line with their original pieces.

The vinyl record has a sticker with the Bandcamp redeem code, where you can download the entire compilation (6 pieces), including Thon Kland - Edge - (Alavux remix) and Organon - HII - (Original), not on vinyl.

Sometimes, looking back to the tracks that have been most inspirational yields very interesting results. In the last couple of years these four tracks stood out and share a deep sonic connection. All artists produced music in the early/mid 80s, played in post-punk, experimental and EBM/industrial bands and transitioned naturally into the techno, ambient and trance sounds of the early 90s, while maintaining an elemental early 80s live feel in the process. It’s no coincidence that these tracks date back to 92-94, a time defined by rapid technological change and a major political landslide.
The fall of the Berlin wall seemed to herald the dawn of a new era of peace and prosperity. The Cold War thawed, a sense of relief took hold, the West appeared victorious and the future looked bright. The emergence of rave culture seemed to embody this world of endless technological possibility and future optimism, techno-optimism indeed. Fast forward to 2019 and this optimism has obviously faded into oblivion, where the dream of universal freedom turned out be the empty promise of free market hypercapitalism beneficial to a small elite only. But thirty years ago rave culture was the product of that change and felt like a new home for those who discovered it. All these tracks are a precursor to sounds we hear today, an integral part of an ongoing cycle of trends where successive generations take over from previous ones. Rediscovery of that moment in time and sound is what Transition is all about, a collection of penultimate tracks that define that era.

This special, sixth release on Neotropiq brings together four artists from the DJ collective that has grown from the booth of the label’s secretive and sought-out parties in South London. The “Treefrog Army EP” features solo tracks by the label’s founder, Silverlining, alongside Neotropiq residents, Trixie, Oliver Moon, and South London legend, Tom Gillieron.

What is Neotropiq? The neotropical realm is the bioregion that provides the lungs of the planet and is home to the highest concentration of biodiversity and unique species anywhere, many of which are endangered. The label’s emblem, the treefrog, celebrates individuality and nature whilst recognising the need to protect both. Therefore, Neotropiq can be defined as a multi-background, gender-balanced, and cross-generational collective of DJs, producers, and music lovers. Just as we might see a caravan of camels and a shoal of piranhas, the collective makes up the beautiful army of treefrogs that is Neotropiq.

The “Treefrog Army EP”, therefore, marks out distinguished yet complementary atmospheres that wander between several shades of electronic dance. As if each were telling their own distinct tale, this body of work flows like a late-night conversation between four good friends. With all tracks mixed or pre-mastered at Silverlining’s recently built North Wood Cabin Studio, this family excursion represents each artist’s individual sonic palette and groove while perfectly complementing the others.

Silverlining’s opening track, “Murine Illusions”, is a powerful, peak-time, West-Coast-inspired acid house workout cruising on an irresistible, rumbling bass arrangement and nostalgic vocal samples. Next up is Trixie, whose “Handshake” is a simmering and hypnotic encounter, with glitchy broken drums and whirring, otherworldly synths that animate another life around the body of the track.

On the B-side, Oliver Moon doesn’t hold back with the dynamite “What You Want” where icy Tr-707 drums brush by as you find yourself caught in an elasticated groove that's full of surprises. Mysterious vocals by Moon himself are laced throughout, creating a sense of curiosity on the dance-floor. Last but not least are the chunky Motor City-infused vibrations of Tom Gillieron’s “Orange Clouds”. Subaqueous pads create a mesmerising dreamworld and combine with crisp drums for the hazy hours of the morning.

This four-tracker offers a breath of fresh, forest air from the Neotropiq crew who break genre conventions while sharing a love for warm aesthetics. Outside of production, the crew also shares a love for vinyl digging, and in the booth, they each deliver their own unique energy. The all-encompassing collective is not only united by music, but also use their unified voice to speak up about injustice and imbalances around the world.

The idea of the project was to reconstruct a different perspective of Tribal Italia, an imprint set in 1995 in Riccione. The label recollected the attitude of the Afro/Cosmic djs of the region like Meo, Fary, Fattori and Brahms that created a distinctive "world-sound trademark" in whole Italy and Europe (as seen lately in the Austrian experiments of Stefan Egger). There was a side of the label that was clearly influenced by the "heavy-sample" culture of Hip-Hop and, especially, by what was going on in the UK where groups like Transglobal Underground and Loop Guru were creating a new identitarian imagination. These influences gave birth to a suggestive selection of the best breaks of the Tribal Italia catalogue.

Axces Recordings is releasing their second various artist release “Trip Wire EP”. Compiling 4 different tracks from 4 different artists focussing on minimal experimental techno club music. The record premieres Søren Kinch aka CX alongside the usual gang: Alfredo92, Kasper Marott and Popmix.

Trip Wire’s 4 tracks all have common denominators of being moody, trippy and darker than the usual Axces europhoria. All composed from an idea of linearity whether it being the straight forward grooviness of the track IZA, the 8 minute suspenseful robotic tantra workout in Kasper Marotts “Welcome” or the more laid back in the sofa, über minimal parade in popmix’s Ultima. With the opener track “Sjunne” Sørens Kinch or CX makes a promising debut. The track is ultimately the most romantic piece of music on this next edition of Axces music frisbees, with swirling pads and a kick drum that goes deep as the ocean.

The EP will be available on black vinyl. The release is presented with beautiful artwork done by Axces visual artist A.V. Nielsen.
