After inaugurating the label with a tape in 2015, our local friend Richard Brown (AKA Brown Irvin) returns to Motion Ward with an oblique two-track 12" entitled "Run Me That Soul". "Locution" flexes a wobbly equilibrium of dubbed dancefloor energy and amorphous acid while "Overcast" coats the B Side in a smeared gradient of ambient wash and shape-shifting stasis. A persuasive pair of parallel worlds for winding up and winding down.

Dream Ticket is back with a barrage of sonic bliss from SHUT boss Ryan James Ford. His is a futuristic vocabulary transmitted from a quarter century ago and decoded tomorrow: incunabulated ambience, aphextual textures, reflectivised rhythms. This EP is for anyone whose heart is in the techno, IDM, jungle & environs of the early-to-mid-90s, but whose feet are planted firmly in the here and now, most likely in the middle of a fearless dancefloor. Or:la's newly founded Cead imprint is back for its second outing with an EP from the enigmatic Blu Terra, due out in October.
Coming out of Warsaw and with a couple of aliases already under his belt, Blu Terra delivers three tracks spanning aquatic soundscapes and unexpected rave elements.
The A1, Person Sans, mobilises moving pads and punchy synths. 20,000 is a detailed acid exercise with animalistic overtones. Lastly, Western/Eastern is a hard hitting incendiary track which patiently builds to a raving crescendo.

Exhausted Modern from Prague (Endless Illusion founder) and the techno veteran DimDJ from Thessaloniki are going together on this split EP, the fourth release on Lyon's imprint Blue Night Jungle. With their strong analog approach, they each explore the infinite possibilities of raw sound materials, going from wild acid aesthetics to classical Detroit's electro aesthetics. Two universes that are largely complementary, strengthening each other, and therefore creating a beautiful representation of what BNJ "Dance" sublabel aims to focus on. With this new release, Blue Night Jungle goes fully European by letting these two underground artist express themselves through a common way.

Optimo Music Digital Danceforce is the digital label of Optimo Music, an internationalist musical outlet designed to get dancefloor focussed music out there without the long delays that vinyl manufacturing often entails. Mothball Record is proud to present the first collaborative EP from Betonkust & Eilandnet, made unironically for goths who like to dance. Betonkust, who as well as receiving widespread recognition for his work with Palmbomen II on the “Centre Parcs” album, has already several strong solo releases, often influenced by the Belgian New Beat scene. After a remix-centred debut, Tremors’ second vinyl release presents three killer electro cuts from Glasgow producer Arctor. Heaving with rich synths and low-end drive, the title track promises instant dance floor chemistry under the influence of bleeps and an addictive vocoder hook. After a musical break of ten years, Franck Sarrio celebrates his great return on Radio Mars with four original tracks half way between Electro and Techno genres. Irish producer, DJ and radio host Mr. Spring aka Replicants, joins the German Dominance Electricity sub label Electro Empire.

The versed multi-genre music writer, who has been active since the early 90's under various aliases, starts this purely hardware production based package with the powerful "I Like The Way You Crunch". This original version of the earlier released "I like The Way You Focus", offers energetic broken 808 beats, punchy basslines, a mighty string machine break and sinisterly mumbled vocoder magic.

FaltyDL debuts on Unknown To The Unknown with 4 elektroid-freak-out jams for the headz. From tear-out drum work outs to IDM infused downtempo crackers. These show off Drew Lustman's very experienced but still fresh take on the production game.

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer.
Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.
At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. But the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal.

M.E.S.H., Karen Gwyer, Ital Tek, Lord of The Isles Remixes. Emerging artists rarely exceed listeners’ expectations with a complete album right out of the box, but Deena Abdelwahed is the exception that proves the rule. While the young artist of Tunisian origin stood out with her daring DJ sets, it is her surprising first album, “Khonnar", released at the end of 2018 on InFiné which sealed her status of eclectic producer, guaranteeing her a place among the best releases of the year by Resident Advisor, Trax, Tsugi, The Quietus and Vinyl Factory. Khonnar remixes compiles a series of remixes in 12”, inspired by the unique atmosphere of Deena Abdelwahed’s first album, while extending it across the entire spectrum of electronic, club and experimental music.

Italian Electrobeat and 80s-trash-pop group Batch Sound check in with the German retro-Electro label Ground Control.

With 'The Chase Is On', the trio, formed by Chief Pink, MOK and Damokles, deliver a catchy Electrofunk gem with funky 808 drum programming, a driving bassline, vintage synth melodies, scratches and Vocoder raps.

While being a fully original production, the song perfectly channels the vibe of 1980s Electro classics such as Unknown DJ's 'Beatronic', Harold Faltermeyer's 'Axel F' or the works of Hashim and The Egyptian Lover.

Asyncro is a record label launched by Moscow's electronic music producer OL in 2019. The opening release is an LP by Serwed - the debut collaborative project from OL and his Gost Zvuk label-mate Flaty. This record offers precise cuts with a wide range of rhythmic structures and granulated backgrounds, based on the duo's explorations of free-form generative sound.

Blitzzega is the electronic project of Bjorn Eriksson. Bjorn is a famous Antwerp composer, guitar player and lead member of bands like Maxon Blewiitt, Eriksson Delcroix (together with his wife Nathalie Delcroix, better known from female folk group Lais) and The Broken Circle Breakdown Bluegrass Band (responsible for the mighty soundtrack for the highly acclaimed movie “The Broken Circle Breakdown"). Although Eriksson grew up with country & western he – like many others of his generation here in Belgium - fell in love with electronic music thanks to the NEW-BEAT mania in the late 80s. Chavalo, Blitzzega’s very first vinyl maxi, is a groovy sing-along electro bomb. It features the fantastic voice of Nathalie Delcroix and comes in 4 variations: Original version, a remix by Bjorn Eriksson himself, a remix by Milan W (JJ Funhouse, Ekster) and a remix by acid overlord Freddie Fresh (Analog, USA).

Swiss prodigy and head of Ozelot Records - Manuel Fischer - finally presents his long-awaited debut album. A cauldron of breakbeat, bleep and sci-fi influences all distilled down into an 11-track trip through an interstellar imagination. Kieran has been one of Ireland’s best producers for almost two decades, and when he spoke with Maeve about an album he’d been working on, he sounded a note of caution that, maybe, well, it wasn’t the sort of thing Maeve would like. If this was a shameless attempt at reverse psychology, it worked. Interest was piqued, the conversation continued, and the result was an enchanting, hypnotic album unlike anything heard from Phil, or anyone, before. That album was Life Cycling and it was quickly agreed that this would be the perfect record to serve as Maeve’s first full-length artist release.

Keep It Moving is a 6 track groove-oriented release that ventures between techno, beatdown, and downtempo styles. The release starts out with a pair of harder-edged techno cuts. The pensive, smoky "Martial State" leads the way, followed by "Struck Down Strike Up."
Next, the Chicago-based artist dives into slower tempos with the pleasingly dissonant "Cyborg Proposition" and the acidic, atmospheric, "They Don't Know". The record picks up in terms of mood and tempo for the house-leaning, "Rising Poem", before closing out with the catchy, head-nodding title track.

Open Space is an exciting new label run by DJ Ray & Goiz. It’s inaugural release sees Goiz taking steps in a fresh direction with a 4 track EP made up mostly of slower tempos, intricate percussive patterns, and an underwater acid feel that’s reminiscent of Plastikman and early Move D.
The A1 cut, ‘That’s Green’ starts with a hot marimba line that is sure to grip your attention from the jump. The track bounces along at 109 bpm and opens up with warm ambience, trippy electric guitar samples, and a chunky electro-acid bassline that is guaranteed to make clubs bump and heads nod.
On the A2 is ‘Mid Pack’ a 100 bpm tribal aquatic trip for the dedicated downtempo deejay. This triplet-heavy rhythm track comes at you with a flurry of percussion, perfectly timed bleep melodies, and a squelchy acid bassline with an early Move D B-Side vibe.
Heading over to the flipside, the B1 track, ‘Zero Cap’ is likely to be a dancefloor favorite. This elastic-sticky-slapper almost demands a physical response with it’s sharp snare hits, driving bassline, and chopped quasi-vocal snips; all leading to a satisfying pay-off in the form of warm pads and floating marimba notes.
Finally, on the B2 we see the closing and fastest track, ‘Woods’ — An optimistic digi dream house bumper inspired by the sounds of CiM and Susumu Yokota. The track starts with a wide, hopeful ambient pad and microscopic drum sounds, quickly swelling into a racy but soothing 8 minute brain massage.

One of the hardest thing as a musician is to maintain this naive, almost utopian and emotional approach to our music. Especially when it comes to a highly codified genre like Electronic music which appeared in the late 80s/early 90s like a promise of a bright future for music, everything sounding so fresh and revolutionary. When Katerina sent me those demos I heard that freshness, that pure intention, something I remember from discovering melancholic Detroit tunes in the 90s or early Warp ‘artificial intelligence’ compilations, bridging the gap between techno and more intricate electronica. It’s been a while since I didn’t hear an EP so sincere - and not Just nostalgic, that makes me want to dance alone in my living room and forget about everything else. It’s a subtle thing that makes the difference but that difference is everything, it’s Music.

A musical legacy which could have been lost in the background noise of time is finally edited, mastered and cut into vinyl.

This 7" double-header delves into the vast vaults of Bobby Orlando, a prolific New York producer whose muscular mutations of electro, Italo-disco, freestyle and Hi-NRG were popular in gay clubs around the globe. He specialized in "concept groups" - made-up acts fronted by session singers who were hired in to front the tracks he produced. Two of these concept acts are showcased here. On the A-side you'll find "Yum Yum (Eat 'Em Up)" by The Beat Box Boys, a stripped-back and slightly silly - but undeniably fun - electro workout from 1985. On the B-side you'll find an edited version of the Latin Rascals dub of fine 1985 freestyle cut "Set Me Free", which was credited to Teen Rock and bears some similarities to Orlando's early productions for the Pet Shop Boys.

Polish-Silesian producer Karol Gwózdz aka Nail joins the German label Dominance Electricity for a mystic 'Revelation'.

The title track is an epic ten-minute Electro trip with biblical vocoderized lyrics in Polish language, driving broken beats and hypnotic melody loops.

Followed by the slightly more energetic '1987', the release also features two ambient bonus pieces that highlight the beautiful synth work of the two songs.
