Multiple Man is comprised of twin duo Chris & Sean Campion. Originally operating from Brisbane, Australia their four track EP for Fleisch represents their first record written since Chris’s relocation to New York City. ‘High On The Hog’ finds Multiple Man at a disconnect. Spread between different continents and time zones, the record’s direction is a marked progression from previous sounds. Paranoid atmospherics, sheet metal percussion and unhinged mutant sampling, the record finds the twins wallowing in the muck and the mire. The junk funk is still there but it’s bathed in machine age voodoo. This is not a record for the post-apocalypse but an end of history banger for the psycho rollerball time we live in. Counting down every weird minute until the bombs drop, it represents a grotesque vision of end-times razorback EBM. Continuing the evolution in Multiple Man’s discography and contributing to the Berlin label’s vision, ‘High On The Hog’ throws another piece of meat into the Fleisch grinder. Some things are just not meant to be, but that doesn’t stop them happening anyway, such is the case with Mexican/Canadian punk-techno duo ALI X x XIMENA who unwittingly crossed streams in 2016. In just the past two years the inspired and experienced duo have unleashed a relentless barrage of funky and skewed audio/video bricolage. Their first session together, along with compatriot Theo Magus, produced the single “Let’s Get Naked” for Tiga’s Turbo label, and what followed was an orgy of remixes for labels Nein and Roam, Bottom Forty, Wonder Stories, Phisica and Shara, and reworks and collabs with artists of weird like-minds Nark, Tkuz, Fausto, Shit, and others both esoteric and mainstream.
ALI X is no stranger to the impenetrable darks and blinding lights having taken his former band Azari & III from the streets to the limelight, and his own extensive back catalog excessively demonstrates this, while XIMENA’s vague history only intensifies the strange murk that enshrouds her, at once both fiercely hermetic and violently sociable, her internalized poetic meanderings clash nicely with her gushing DJ performances. When combined, the couple’s punky ‘screw-it’ attitude juxtaposed with a funky troubled lovers vibe provides for challenging encounters rewarded by unexpected leaps of freedom.

So Gerd and Philipp were due to play XOYO one saturday night and the club is 6 minutes from my studio so I suggested we go there first to make tunes for a few hours. We made 2 songs that night and one of them is ‘reach out’. Gerd did the drums on my 808, Philipp wrote the beautiful lead part on my OBXa and I did the bass in my cs80. I added the words a couple of weeks later, they are inspired by Leonard Cohen’s letter to his muse Marianne Ihlen on her deathbed. Quadratschulz is famed for his unmistakable blend of smooth electro grooves and playful melodies. It is this combination that the German synthman brings to his debut 12” on Bordello A Parigi, La Boum. Four cheer soaked pieces make up the EP with the radiant title piece opening. A cocktail of crisp beats, clean keys and just a twist of acid are blended to produce a fresh and uplifting tune. Braindance and chiptune influences abound, coming to the fore in the squirming and squelching energy of “Unfriend.” Drums and stabbing keys are washed in a light 303 rinse for a mischievous musical medley. The flip is introduced by the rich analogue tones of “Beta Industries.” Lush, this subtle work is moulded with layers of understated snares, crystalline keys and textured pads to create a beautifully delicate piece. The last order, “For Your Mind”, is a tall glass of electrofunk. Razor sharp rhythms are further honed by slashes of vocoder lyrics, cascading notes and some bitter knob jerks culminate to round of the superb La Boum.

UK techno founders B12 return! The duo's history famously started in the early 90's with their music appearing under a plethora of monikers under the "B12 Records" umbrella - 12" vinyl with notorious cryptic messages engraved in the run-out grooves, before being collected into album form and release on Warp. After a hiatus in the late 90's, the pair resurfaced briefly for some live shows, a flurry of hugely sought-after 12"s and a 7-part CD anthology. They then abruptly disappeared again - this is their first appearance in 5 years, fittingly on Glaswegian imprint Soma. (Their seminal Warp Records album was named Electro Soma...is there a connection?) The Bokide 325 EP Is it a planet to be explored, or the journey through a personal hell? Only a few know for sure but at the end of this voyage expressed in the best way B12 know how, layers of sounds, beats, synths, lush pads, and seductive melodies the hope of a whole new reality is reached. It conjures up foreboding, planetary soundscapes - rooted in the more ambient, filmic side of their output, is it a reflection of recent turmoil within/ the artists personal lives? The EP opens with "Into the Void", whose simple but emotive synth line weaves its way across a variety of beats and sounds, and takes the listener into the depths where the true journey can commence. Onwards, darker and more mysterious notes loom up throughout "Descension" and "Unsound Mind", with pounding bass throbbing underneath, leading further into the world of shadows where the alarming awareness that something isn't quite right never truly leaves you. It concludes with Terra Incognita, the final track of the EP - an unknown place, left to be discovered and completed by the listener.

Stefan Robbers is one of the most known and respected non-U.K.-based European techno producers, and (along with Speedy J) one of the only Dutch techno artists to reach a wide audience outside of Holland. Recording as Terrace, Florence, and under his own name, Robbers has been responsible for some of the most memorable moments in experimental dance music in the last few years, from the first release on the now-commanding D-Jax label (Terrace's 1990 EP 916 Beuna Avenue) to recent Terrace and Florence full-lengths released on his own Eevo Lute imprint. Although tracks have appeared through GPR and New Electronica as well, his focus since 1994 has been on Eevo Lute, likely in an effort to raise awareness about Dutch techno artists and which also prompted the establishment (by Robbers and Speedy J's Jochem Paap) of a Dutch remix network. Most often cited in connection with the sort of "listening techno" associated with the Warp, GPR, and New Electronica labels, Robbers' recent releases have moved increasingly toward the incorporation of du jour electronica hybrids such as trip-hop and ambient jungle, although his trademark mixture of intricate, off-kilter rhythms and sweet melodies has remained. Along with Robbers' own releases, Eevo Lute has also issued material from David Caron, Max 404, and Wladimir M., as well as two label compilations (Agenda 21 and Agenda 22). A remixed version of Terrace's 1996 Konnekt LP, entitled Re-Konnekt, was released in 1996, featuring Speedy J, Global Communication, Sean Deason, Kirk Digiorgio, Orlando Voorn, and Thomas Heckmann.

Darkness enshrouded the city, replacing warm crepuscular air with a fresh nightly breeze that seemed to creep between the gaps in his clothes. Looking down, the tiny hairs on his arm had stood upright in lew of the falling temperature. It really was time to head home. His family were expecting him back. Though something eerie summoned him to stay, something in his gut said to walk, walk out in the night and face the silence that awaited him in those open fields on the outskirts of the city. The last light of sunset danced its way to darkness and he was alone, but this was what he wanted.

Ilker Soylu is a man of many guises. He returns under his Mastering Black alias, breaking the silence of a three-year hiatus with a broody and atmospheric four-track EP. This release rides electro BPMs for the title track ‘Obey’ and the ‘Obey’ rework on the B side, contrasted with A2 ‘Black Palms’ and B2 ‘Bit Of Your Love’ that chug with tension around a slower BPM.Varying on a darkened energy, crisp electro breaks articulate through bubbling arpeggios and ephemeral vocals. ‘Obey’ vocal drifts in and out of the title track, perhaps commanding, perhaps being commanded. This semi-neutral, ungendered voice speaks to the curiosity of the listener, with the potential for an unusual trip when heard in the stark strobe lighting of a rumbling nightclub. ‘Bit Of Your Love’ continues the vocal theme with a questioning tone, embroidered with rattling hi-hats and experimental sound design.The alternative version of ‘Obey’ on the B-side skips the vocal input for a dubbed-out and rhythmic interpretation of the title track. Metallic synths and a notable groove ride throughout the revisited version. A2 track ‘Black Palms’ opens with a calm downbeat house mood, with rich mid-range pads and drums that roll in a friendlier direction. Noisier synths break the calm with staccato flecks that lead us to an energising darkness once more. No stranger to eclectic sound production, Mastering Black provides a diverse and club-ready EP to mark his return to production.

As label and record shop founder of Zwart Goud, Ilker leans on a rich background in dance music and uses his years in the industry to produce this highly kinetic and mood-enriched release. Expect this to wobble and warp its way through sound systems for years to come.

Mum No Hands’ - an assured four tracker that draws on Bristol bass, footwork, jungle and broken techno to create something fresh and upfront. A certified stalwart of the Bristol scene, Yushh (aka Jen Hartley) is already well on her way to becoming a household name. Over the last few years she has toured extensively across Europe’s festival and club circuits, landing sets at Freerotation Festival and HÖR along the way. Her label, Pressure Dome, is known internationally as a go-to outlet for various offshoots of forward-thinking, soundsystem-ready UK techno, with a roster that includes Sputnik One, Caldera, Ido Plumes and Cando. So far, she has only teased her production skills with a string of one-off drops and remixes, including features on Rhythm Section, Banoffee Pies and All Centre. On ‘Look Mum No Hands’ she finally lays out the blueprints for her unique, club-honed sound. The title track skips along at a nippy 160 bpm, driven by a slow/fast halfstepping beat and monster bassline that places it somewhere between DMZ and Teklife. ‘Same Same’ drops the tempo down to 130 bpm, with loungey keys and a skippy vocal chop offsetting a cavernous low-end. As we emerge into the Now with a fresh perspective and renewed vigour, Red Laser Records usher in a novel epoch of Manctalo movements for our post-COVID enjoyment. Splitting open the collective dancefloor inertia is Kid Machine's 'Only Machines Allowed'. A cybernetic b-boy jam straight outta the planet Megoh circa 4044. Here he announces his return with an end-credits epic, an #inabiteveryoneelse theme from this young vet on a pants-off permo-buzz, up-scrolling through technicolored c64 visuals and deploying his now trademark zoopa-arps, euphoric synth stabs and thunderous low end shudder to deadly effect.

Meanwhile, Ste Spandex continues his cybernetic realignment surgery, dissecting a well circulated disco meme and adding voluptuous gender-neutral enhancements that'll be getting the next generation of androids frisky, despite their lack of reproductive organs. Fizzling synths, spherical repetition and a multi-dimensional mix of high voltage rhythms leaving that vocal line permanently downloaded in your memory cloud. No sharing necessary.

Scottish deep space observer Ernesto Harmon provides some cosmic ruggedness to close off our mission. Reinforced & galvanised low-end rhymix coalescing with humanoid synth expression and an infinite, carbon-free energy source keeping momentum plateaued through the morning after the night before. There's no off switch baby!

Andy Ded was an English artist who living in Paris in the mid 80’s. The only trace of his work is this EP called “Summer Nightmares and Lazy Dogs” mixing industrial music with a Post-punk attitude. Notwithstanding a danceable appeal, the release did not gain access to an audience more attracted by the emerging french Cold Wave scene. This reissue is accompanied by a mutant Tolouse Low Trax Rework featuring additionals lyrics and vocals. With the help of some friends (Laura Lippie and Gwen Jamois aka Iueke) he adds a deviant Laurie Anderson atmosphere to the original track. Remastered and Limited to 300 copies.
