US darkwave pioneers are back with a new 7’’ less than a year after the acclaimed Casa Luna EP. It appears Lycia is living an extremely inspired new youth, as these two tracks convey very lively, spry vibes, yet in the usual dark, melancholic tones which are trademarks of the band.

After the self-titled album on Tokyo-based label Diskotopia, Beats Unlimited (Doc Sleep & Hypno Discs) follow up with two dubbed out, bass-heavy companions for the Hypno Discs label. Heavy on the low-end, easy on the wallet.

This 7" double-header delves into the vast vaults of Bobby Orlando, a prolific New York producer whose muscular mutations of electro, Italo-disco, freestyle and Hi-NRG were popular in gay clubs around the globe. He specialized in "concept groups" - made-up acts fronted by session singers who were hired in to front the tracks he produced. Two of these concept acts are showcased here. On the A-side you'll find "Yum Yum (Eat 'Em Up)" by The Beat Box Boys, a stripped-back and slightly silly - but undeniably fun - electro workout from 1985. On the B-side you'll find an edited version of the Latin Rascals dub of fine 1985 freestyle cut "Set Me Free", which was credited to Teen Rock and bears some similarities to Orlando's early productions for the Pet Shop Boys.

Electronic musician 7FO's first release on EM Records in a long time is a new tune and single that will change the image of 7FO. The new song, "Healing Sword," which the artist says they approached with the "feeling of being mysterious DIY musicians" (not a feeling, they actually are), was the first single song in 7FO history to be produced as a tribute to the 7" pop era and Joe Meek. (Limited Edition 7" Vinyl, Hand-stamped with hand-numbered postcard) Inspired by films he grew up watching and a passion for vintage recording equipment, Eyot Tapes has crafted ten pieces (two pieces on the 7" vinyl single "Ajor/Path of Snakes") of music recording only to cassettes, using cassette loops, spring reverbs, tape delays and a modular synthesiser. Weaving in and out of different moods, with ‘Edgar Rice Burroughs’ stories never far from his mind, he takes you on a trip through an off world, tropical fantasy.

Continuing the label's special 7"s releases that capture the nascent 80s post punk, dub, funk and pop - as examined on releases by The Jellies, Woo, Phantom Band, 4AM and more - here a discovery of unheard demos from Dislocation Dance's Midnight Shift album. As part of the eighties Manchester scene, the band's pop and jazz sensibilities have continued to garner attention, offering a rightful place in the city's rich music history. With the closure of Richard Boon's New Hormones label in 1982, they came to the attention of Geoff Travis' Rough Trade. Creating a home studio in the basement of an old rambling farmhouse in Withington, Ian Runacres guitar, vocals), with lyricist Paul EmmersonERC 111 bass), set to work creating demos to garner a deal. Inspired by the funk-disco of Dr Buzzards Original Savannah Band debut album, Here Comes Love was written using Roland Tr-606 drum machine, guitars, bass and cheap) keyboard, its magical and lo-fi charmed quality melts hearts. On Mr Zak, the fun Runacres had is evident. Written as an "indie" song, but with Aztec Camera and Burt Bacharrach on his mind, with Andy Diagram trumpet) and Kathryn Way vocals), hides a structure matching the album version, but which in its rudimentary instrumentation and production is unique and outshines the later version, to encase a specific period and innocence, of time.

Korean synth-pop band "ultramodernista", whose summer tunes have been selected for various playlists, is releasing a 7inch record featuring Anri's classic "windy Summer", which led the city pop scene in the 80s! Korean synth-pop band "ultramodernista" will release their first physical, two-song 7inch record in about three years. Ferry Lane Records welcomes Teatre AKA Viktoras Urbaitis for its fourth release. Having garnered a cult following through celebrated EPs on Lux and his self-released Metropolis, 2 Songs presents the Lithuanian producer at his most introspective.

On the A-side, 'Alone' offers a languid, bittersweet melody evoking the golden era of synth-pop. The B-side, 'Low' intensifies the mood while still embracing melancholy. Mastered by Alden Tyrell.

Vana is a true Estonian lowkey gem, a duo (Ajukaja & Edith Karslon) who deal boldly with pop music clichés. On their debut 7” they cue up a track by beloved 80’s Estonian beachtown band to give it some new attire. A version & context of their own. They manage to lift a pseudo reggae track to present day & make it resonate here & now. Easy does it.

The B–side sees Vana on a pop trek. “Kuu Maa” is a real heart melter with its dreamy vocals, arousing piano line, guitar licks & funky bass. Grab that dictionary to catch each & every chunk of emotion on here. Or just let it slowly sink in. Lets go!

Mr. Strange have been around for many years and already have five albums under their belt, but this is their very first release on vinyl and comes in the form of an amazing numbered limited edition purple doubled A sided 7" single featuring two singles, Alien, and The Pursuit Of Something Better, both from their current album Contact. For Sameheads, Andrea & Alexander release their first material together, acting as a kind of trailer to an upcoming album released later this year on R-i-o. The track “Olias” finally gets its press after once being performed live at the fabled Sameheads festival “City of a Thousand Suns”… those were the days eh….. On the Mutant Radio side, fresh talent Tina delivers her debut release, and for that matter, the first ever track Mutant have put onto a piece of vinyl….. The track “Vacation” is the squelchy black sheep counter balance to the silky synth vibe of the other side. Just how they like it.
