Spooky has long been one of the hardest working soundmen in East London. At any given time you can see him streaming sets on Insta, blasting out tunes, and being the OG cat he always has been, with a reverence for the roots of Dub, from the Jamaican roots to US Garage and back to his backyard via his Grime/Dubstep/UKG cuts, which are always full of raw depth and swing.

This is why it was more a matter of what to fit on his first EP on LoDubs, given when the conversation was started about RAS Riddims a whole deluge of tracks came our way. Clarty Steppers is not only 6 of the best of those, but 2 bonus tracks in the accompanying DL, and the option to get those 2, and a extra VIP of one of those tunes which will only ever be available via the companion Poly Cut of this release.

Off the heels of a few successful digital compilations, newly found LA based label For The Heads proudly kicks off their vinyl series with a 4-track collaborative EP from Subtle Mind & mrshl. The relatively unknown artist (formerly known as Widowmaker) has been making fluctuations since arriving on the scene - his release with Cocobolo Sound receiving high plaudits as he created two tracks which perfectly paid homage to the original '06 sound. As for his Square Soulja EP for Ifs022, he's plated up four cuts that showcase his vast variety in skill and sound, taking influence from grime and lacing a future sound within his productions. Whether you prefer the more surreal sounds of 'Vertigo', the downplayed filth on 'Isshin's Theme', or the more in your face skankers in both 'Square Soulja' and Cypher Zero', this is a 12" you'll want to be packing.

TC is an ongoing link-up by bass bin lifers Low End Activist and Appleblim, stripping their many different streams of sonic consciousness down to a raw essence of jagged, skeletal rhythms and prowling subs. It's a sound in thrall to first wave dubstep but not trapped by it, instead finding common ground with the buoyant bassweight minimalism which is defining some of the freshest developments in leftfield, defiantly bruk club music. Few names shine as brightly in the cosmology of dubwise bass music as that of V.I.V.E.K. From releasing absolutely ground-breaking tracks for the better part of 20 years primarily on his own System and Vivek imprints, to curating and hosting his legendary System nights, to bringing so much rising talent to light, it’s honestly difficult to imagine the last two decades of UK and global sound system music without him.

For ZamZam 96 V.I.V.E.K went straight to the bedrock of sound system music and delivered a power-stepper of galactic proportions.

Infernal Sounds welcome back the heavyweight Von D, as he delivers the gargantuan three-track Hunedoara EP, fresh off the back of his debut release on Deep Medi. Spanning way back to 004 on the label in which he made his debut on Infernal Sounds with two tracks 'Cross Of Hendaye' & 'Finis Gloriae Mundi', he drives a different style and reflection on this endeavour. The title-track 'Hunedoara' is the crowd pleaser - hitting you with the heavyweight stomping war chant, whereas both 'Akasha' and the textural 'Layers' on the B-side are melody centered and display the more playful side to the French producers repertoire. Having already received the backing from the likes of Truth, DJ Squarewave, and many other reputable artists in the scene, this is a plate that's armed for the dance or for playing at home.

Title track ’Progress’ starts off innocently, before slowly dragging you into a field of melody that quickly turns into a warzone: Infectious stabs resemble heavy arms, which do serious damage thanks to the genius square- and sawtooth bass lines as its core.
