Limited 10 year anniversary repress with black/white artwork. In May 2014, Icelandic producer Yagya released his fifth album, Sleepygirls, across three slabs of vinyl on Dutch label Delsin. It's a deep, spacious and dubbed out affair that stays locked at a pleasingly sedentary tempo throughout. Since 2002 Yagya has been crafting lush electronic albums and always manages to find pure bliss and beauty and his simple, nature inspired soundscapes. "I wanted to create an album that's atmospheric, repetitive, and easy to listen to over and over again," says the man himself. "Something that works well in the background (e.g. when concentrating on work), as well as up close in a big sound system. I also wanted to learn how to make my music sound better than before, since I'm a huge sound-nerd, so that was a part of the goal for me personally." The album is a fine fusion of tropes from Yagya's earlier albums, features jazz instrumentalists that improvise beautiful melodies over monotonic, almost drone-like, techno beats and also uses live recordings of Japanese vocals, saxophone and guitar to counter the repetitiveness of the rhythms. Right from the rolling bliss of the opener, you're suspended in a womb like pillow of sound that is soft, warm and serenely beautiful. As tracks roll on, the pace stays the same but themes vary from upright and summery to more elongated and insular. This is natural, organic dub that is a delight and a pleasure to listen to. The vinyl versions of each track have been specially mixed with random LFOs, sonic quirks and unique fingerprints making them the subtly different to the CD version, but overall this is a brain soothing and mind melting album that can soundtrack lazy days, long summer afternoons and warm winter evenings in equal style.

This EP features 2 new pieces of sonic meditation residing somewhere between space and time, somewhere in the cosmos. With the title track, "Beyond Starlit Sky", vaporous atmospheres emerge from the distance, while ghostly apparitions and analog modulations rise to the surface of a truly hypnotizing rhythm, submerging the mind deep into an analog world. With the "Live" version a mixture of themes from "Fading Lights" and "Beyond Starlit Sky" find an engaging syncopation, resting somewhere in the ether. Those who loved Echospace's "The Coldest Season" on Modern Love will have plenty to adore here, timeless in all senses of the word.

Following the success of last years Babe Roots EP, Echocord revisits the package with reworks from Forest Drive West, Mike Schommer, Felix K, DB1 and Babe Roots themself. London’s DB1 leads the package with his take on ‘Work Hard’, a mostly beatless interpretation fuelled by oscillating white noise, winding dub chords and snippets of the original’s dub reggae vocals. Hidden Hawai’s Felix K then ups the energy levels with a high-octane take on ‘Sufferation Time’, driven by upfront, shuffled and distorted drums and unfaltering, tension building dub swells.

Remastered into analogue bliss from the original ampex tape masters conducted at the NSC mastering lab in Detroit by the legendary Ron Murphy (R.I.P.) Recorded from a live session near the heart of Detroit, using countless modular synths, analog devices and custom made effects producing a hypnotic state like no other; tugs right at the heartstrings!

Babe Roots & Another Channel join forces with Danish label Echocord with four dubbed out cuts titled, ‘Takeover’. Turin based artist, Babe Roots’ catalogue has seen a steady growth since he started out in 2016 with releases on French label Linear Movement, Portland dub label ZamZam Sounds and Rohs! Records. ‘Takeover’ sees him team up with Another Channel, an up and coming German producer with records on Transient Audio and Modern Hypnosis. After a successful summer for Echocord with albums from Silent Harbour aka Conforce and Idealist, the label continues 2018 with consistently intriguing output from artists across the electronic music spectrum. ‘Takeover (intro)’ kicks off the pack by delivering a minute of spaced-out, dub-tinged atmospheres to ease you in. ‘Can’t See’ then provides a pitched-down, meditative ambience peppered with deep, sedative reggae drums, calming synth flutters and an enchanting vocal. Next, ‘Money Run Things’ sustains the mellow moods, spirited chants and stirring flourishes of dubby vibrations. To finish, ‘Get You Down’ offers a meditative, dropped- tempo dub-techno track – with sound system culture, dispersed grooves and undulating minimalism becoming the main focus here.

Prana glistens into existence as ethereal pads drift by, giving way to a subtle, almost deep house beat that pulses nicely, backed by tribal-esq percussion. A gently staccato synth pattern flutters in and out toying with the idea of techno ever so slightly yet keeping well within the realms of his usual sound. Simplicity is the key in this track and Deepchord allows it to evolve slowly and he toys with sweeps of reverb and FX giving the track a lush, organic sound.

Tantra gives off a tougher vibe than it predecessor. Gently layered, deeper, edgier synths open the track as percussive elements, swathed in FX form the basis of the groove. Bolstered by a typical Deepchord dubbed out bass line this track once again evolves perfectly almost without the listener noticing the subtle changes that give Tantra a deep and emotive flow.

Never one to sit still and be pigeon holed into a genre, Deepchord easily turns his hand once again a brings two beautifully crafted tracks in his own inimitable style

The incomparable Deepchord is back on Soma and drops the first single from forthcoming album, Auratones due in October. As is expected from the Detroit based sound designer, the Campfire EP is everything we have come to know and admire about his productions; from the spaced out, ambient sound fields to classic Dub Techno.

Perfumes Of A Spring Mist delicately opens this latest EP with entrancing, processed soundscapes, beautifully haunting melody and simple rhythmic elements than seem to evolve naturally allowing you to get lost in the sea of vibrations. Xpan leans on the more classic Dub Techno sound from Deepchord of years passed. Sub heavy beats and jagged yet tranquil synths sweep across the palette as Deepchord plays with constantly fluctuating chords, bringing the quintessential 90s Deep Techno into his more modern, processed sound. Title track Campfire brings ambience to the forefront to close out the EP. Melancholic synth elements drift across an expanse of refined and uniquely crafted field recordings, offering an insight into the areas from which Deepchord draws his inspiration.

Once again Deepchord proves to be one of the most visionary artists the electronic world has seen.

With his third single release, Y-Bayani (pronounced like Why-Bayani) shows clearly that he is the most intriguing roots-reggae sensation coming out of Ghana. He is backed again by the lushly grooving Band of Enlightenment, Reason and Love.
Asembi Ara Amba, sung in Fanti language, is an old Fanti story about having bad luck if you see a vulture up in the sky. As Y-Bayani sees one suddenly and for no reason he gets in trouble with the police. Being hold back in the police station he finally takes his chance to escape into freedom while the police men taking a nap.
On We Are The Band of Enlightenment, Reason And Love the group presents their personal anthem. The song is a cinematic journey starting with a mighty horn theme, followed up by a mantric chant and enters finally into a wall of sound in double time. It's a small symphony for sure.

IRENICSPC002 brings us two new tracks by Bas Amro, best known for his releases on Freerange Records and Wolfskuil Records. For this EP he takes an unusual straight-forward approach; ‘Chained’ is a driving dub track with beautiful chords, while ‘Nearing’ leans towards the deeper side of the techno spectrum. With both tracks being very suitable for the dancefloor, the b-side finds label boss Roger Gerressen changing pace, delivering a remix for the early hours.

The ever-reliant Deepchord kicks off 2014 in his usual stylish way with two deep cuts in the Luxury EP. After last years jaunt into the ambient with 20 Electrostatic Soundfields, Rod Model return to the world of slick beats and even dreamier synths and atmospheres.

Luxury 1 ebbs in majestically as beautifully crafted layers of synths glide across field recorded drops of water that instantly play with your senses. Pumping sub bass fills the rest of the spectrum as Rod does what he does best by creating an unending slick groove, pieced together by crisp percussion.

Yet more atmospherics come into play in Luxury 2 as otherworldly field recordings are brought to life through the use of Rod's unique processing and layers of dream state synths. A perfectly worked groove seems to come out of nowhere and glides gently under the atmosphere; again subtle percussion ties everything together seamlessly.

The master of Deep Techno strikes again with nothing short of 2 elegant works that typify his skills as a producer.

Hidden Operator coming through with some fresh dub infused power powder. Horns get twisted and turned inside out and laid on a bed of suitably phased out beat work.

Atmospheric Vol 2 is the second single to be taken from Deepchord's latest full length but sees him stray from the album tracks, bringing 3 exclusive pieces to the vinyl, keeping in the same musical vein as Ultraviolet Music.

Exploring the North & Pinewood Lodge see Rod Modell on more Deep Techno excursions as beautifully sweeping pads and glistening synths drift by ever evolving, perfectly processed atmospheres. Deepchord's unique use of subtle field recordings throughout give both of these tracks a real heady/druggy quality and his seamless loops allow you to drift of into his fully developed dream world. Shot Point delves into straight up ambient territory with Deepchord striking an unearthly balance between the natural and synthetic world. Yet more flawlessly collected field recordings wash away on an ocean of reverb soaked pads, drowning the listener within its mesmerising tides.

The ever enigmatic Deepchord makes a most welcome return to Soma with this, the first single to be taken from this latest full length, Ultraviolet Music. Three beautiful slices have been cut from the album to form this truly outstanding single and shows Deepchord return to a straight up mix of heady, cerebral dub techno infused with more solid rhythms.

After six years in the making between Malmö and Berlin, Per Hammar presents his first studio album on his Dirty Hands imprint. Pathfinder LP is designed for the dance floor and represents the evolution of one of Sweden’s finest artists from his musical beginnings in 2004 to the current day. Per Hammar has been associated with labels such as Infuse, Constant Sound, Malin Génie Music and Berg Audio to name a few. Always inspired by music where melody is the focus, he notes his subconscious as being an inspiration for his productions. Over the last 15 years, his material has featured influences from dub to video game scores, and trance to happy hardcore, but on his Dirty Hands productions it’s been dub that’s held centre focus.

Traversing the boundaries of techno, a unique textural palette of Detroit, dub, ambient and breakbeat influences - the compelling debut album from Eddie Hale (Melbourne, Australia) beckons the listener on an introspective journey of the imagination.

Firescope are always on the lookout for new music, searching and sieving with headphones clamped over ears. Gggg, a recent discovery, unveils a stunning debut release. The co-founder of D.Ko Records may be a fresh face when it comes to releasing, but he has a wealth of both experience not to mention talent. His album, Gazé, is testament to this. A spread of styles and influences coalesce to create Gggg’s unique sound. Ambient. Braindance. Electronica. Techno. All are melted and forged into the new. Processed percussion is the shifting sands from which a swooping melody takes flight, a melody that bends and soars as “K-Robot OG” ascends. Crystalline chords are shaven with fizzing drums in the frenzied elation of “Cas Contact.” And this is what lies at the heart of the collection, a rapturous joy that permeates the entire record. From the complexity and grandeur of “Chien Flûte 5.1” to the considered and subtle “Mudla 2”, the brightness of the audio palette chosen gives tracks an incandescence. This “joi de vivre” glistens and glows in the more playful tones of “Broutine Lamé” and “Cat Intro.” Textures are another area of interest for Gggg. Pieces like “Slowdry” and “Trip 2 Delinc” reshape and ruffle rhythms to bring a counterpoint to form and harmony. Beats are replaced by gentle waves of sound as the twelve-work collection culminates in “Sac Ala Blofel.” Gazé tracks a course. From the energy and frenetic rhythms of first encounters to the atmospheric embrace of the latter part of the album, there is the sense that Gggg is celebrating the astounding of the ordinary, the amazing that is contained from the routine of dawn to dusk.

2019 saw Firescope release a seminal album, The Lonely Machine by Britain’s John Shima. The world has become a very different place since then. The pandemic, economic turmoil and global crises prevail. It is amidst such uncertainty that Shima returns with a new collection to combat the savagery of our times, enter Empty Lands. Dauby basslines and silken strings introduce “Component”, saturated snares giving ballast as Shima’s signature style immediately comes to the fore. A throbbing kick and orbiting notes are peppered with hi-hats for “Neglected”, a sonorous stratum synergising beautifully. Shima is a student of techno. His appreciation and knowledge of the sound is central to the album as he composes within the traditions of the UK and US canon while exploring new plains. The influence of “bleep” is woven into the tapestry of pieces like “Depart” and “Mettle” with the minimalism of the 90s genre reimagined through new textures. “Sayaka” flows with a different current. Rhythms are understated, lapping against undulating keys as dawn rises. Harmony and melody are cornerstones of record, the gentle ebbs and flows of key and drum merging. Inspiration arises from home as well. The steady pulse and metallic tang of “Projection” recalling the industry of Sheffield and the pioneering electronics that sprouted from that rust red earth. Track titles, and the album name itself, suggest periods of challenge and difficulty. “Paralysis”, “Desolate”, “Empty Lands”. Words that conjure certain feelings and responses. Shima’s music is a counterbalance to these emotions. Positive compositions of subtle shifts, complementary percussion and welcoming warmth acting as a tonic to the negativity that swirls; the ten audio works on offer acting as a balm to soothe the soul in these troubled time

Lost in Translation is a record label based in Brussels founded by two friends in the Spring of 2022. Anchored in the heart of Europe, the project aims to deliver a unique artist driven vision centered on a collaborative approach to musical storytelling.

Releases are built track by track, providing a space for the featured artists to bounce off of each other’s sonic influences, and weave together a cohesive musical story told from studios around the world.

Accompanied by audiovisual works and short-stories crafted around the music, each release is an exercise in multi-disciplinary world-building, setting out a narrative soundscape that invites listeners to get lost in its evolving atmospheres and rhythms.

Friendship is a core value of Milligramme. Unspecial’s track “Der Freund I” and Deadbeat’s “Sands of Time Dub” are another chapter of a long story of mutual understanding between Hilmar Reusch a.k.a. Unspecial and select Canadian artists. This record involved consulting Manifest Audio's Noah Pred, who introduced him to Scott Monteith, better known as Deadbeat. Pred and Reusch’s paths first crossed in 2003 in Barcelona at the Sonar Festival. Ever since, the two have exchanged thoughts about music, the world, time, and place. Monteith and Reusch opened an expansive discussion about sustainability and the future of music, Chloé Gastinel did some flirting with the dark, Jörn Elling-Wuttke mastered it,and took care of its spirit. Milligramme is grateful to have such gentle, reflective, and excellent friends.

For the second effort on his very own Oblique imprint, Ben Buitendijk returns to the sound he's only showcased through his well received Promised Land (Mosaic) and a recent remix through Subwax.

This more dubby approach is the general thread in the sophomore Oblique release called ''Past and Present EP''. Generally, this release is threading into deeper territories than it's predecessor but is therefor revealing different sides of the label owner's taste that are maybe being underexposed thus far.

A re-work by Mark Ernestus of the opener of Honest Jons' new LP by the Obadikah brass band, from Lagos. Consummate Berlin dub science by the maestro. Beautifully textured, shuffling Lagos funk, on home-made percussion… militant, parping horns... and a walloping, filthy-stinking kick-drum like the bucking, hairy hind-most of the Devil himself.

After 5 years of silence and profound changes in the label, the 8th release sees the light these days. The uncanny producer Etrigramm gives us examples of his underrated talent on this 4 track vinyl. 5 slow dubby techno gems where he explores the darkness and his taste for 90 ́s projects like Download, Richard H. Kirk ́s Trafficante, Lassigue Benthaus and other experiments with an Industrial aftertaste. If there were clubs in Mordor, this is what they would sound like. 200 copies pressed.

Essex-based producer Ruffien returns to Deeptrax with his debut album – To Win in Silence. Though made in just under a year, it is a collection spanning a decade’s worth of personal growth culminated into one package - documenting the meandering highs and lows of his own private metamorphosis, as he blends impulsivity with styles contemporary, soulful and nostalgic. For the first time, Ruffien features his own vocals on some of the tracks, which makes the album feel more like several torn journal entry segments falling into place. His intent is to be as unambiguous as possible to get his points across – regardless of how grand or intimate they may be; To Win in Silence doubles down on that intent.

Another strong collaboration for Stately Records as they celebrate their third release, together with Swiss Dub Techno wizard Alessandro Crimi. Already producing music for over 20 years from his headquarters in Baden, Switzerland Alessandro is playing a big part in the development of the beautiful sound of Dub Techno. Besides his own productions he is the founder of the label Waehlscheibe, which has seen 10 vinyl releases and celebrate their 10th anniversary this year. Also anno 2022 there is a lot of magic coming from his hands, with a recent sold out record on Etui Records, and more in the future he will be part of a great VA coming out on Roger Gerressen’s Irenic. His work for Stately Records is once again a super diverse ep, with music for every mood. 2 cuts for the dancefloor, with ‘Transcendent’ sending us on an extended melancholic trip & ‘The Space Between Everything’ being the more uplifting work. Besides that, both sides are accompanied by 2 experimental cuts. On the A-side we find the amazing ambient work ‘When Darkness Turns into Light’ and on the B-side the title track ‘Moonward’, a fast paced, bass heavy track which shows no mercy.

To inaugurate the precious label Van has invited impressive German producer Alexander Kowalski on remix duties. Alexander is well-known from Berlin to Detroit and he has played at legendary techno club Tresor. Love is Love is a real masterpiece beautifully crafted by these two artists.

LLD a.k.a. Lawrence Le Doux is back with an independent release, a 3 track EP titled Eemail. While staying true to his signature melange of dub and experimental electronics, he forays into the realm of minimalism, favouring crispy basslines and generative rhythms. The downtempo beats are complex but not overly so: enough to get into a deep listening state but always inviting and accessible. The Second installment of legendary UK House producer Neil (Nail) Tollidays, Smoke - 'Kemuri No Demo' lands with it's dubbed out yet melodic soundscapes for the dancefloor (or not) as the case may be.... Tolliday sees his Smoke guise as electronic exprements first and formost, but we can't think of anything better than a dark room and the sounds of Kemuri No Demo melting the speakers and filling the air with expansive, warm atmospheric dance music.

OHM Series is the premier series in discovering and sharing some of the world’s strongest dub techno sounds. Side A begins the release with a breezy opening track by highly regarded and Berlin based artist, Soela. ’Fledgling’, is a perfect blend of tech and melodic chord highlights that every DJ appreciates in their hands to open a set. Next, we have Dawn Razor, who hails from Russia. ’Calm Storm’ is the perfect name for this uptempo foray into peak-time techno where unusual and exciting sounds balance a minimalistic banger that somehow rides a gentle wave of restfulness. Side B features Greek producer Stelios Vassiloudis on the first track titled ’Live in Fear’. The un-nerving mechanical feel of this track is sure to turn some heads. It’s pronounced beat and constant dub-chord interference aggressiveness is turned up to level 10 in this epic piece creating a dancefloor monster. Lastly, ’Elusive’ is the contribution from Russian duo Semitone Cycles. Anton Lanski and Simon P offer the strongest builder on the EP. Well-placed sounds accentuate the catchiness of the track that just gets better and better with each play. Veteran Icelandic but Copenhagen-based techno figurehead Bjarnar Jonsson, is the brains behind the Ohm Series.

Lempuyang's third offering is an outstanding split release between Steve O'Sullivan & Hydergine, label bosses for Mosaic/Bluetrain & Ranges. In 'Binary Riddim' Steve delivers a two-part dub track spanning >13 minutes, seriously heavy in the low end; melancholy strings in the first half, progressing to outright menacing chord stabs in the latter. A versatile track offering something for both warm-up and the dancefloor. Complimenting on the flip are 'Mystic Light' and 'Lunar Eclipse' from Hydergine. Deep, dubby atmospherics meander over a weighty 909 kick on B1. Subtle minimalism a la Terrence Dixon, pitched down on B2. Essential release!

Vade Mecum returns with yet another amazing release by Matt & Mark Thibideau. "We dedicate this record to our late friend Mike Huckaby and his love for the Waldorf Wave synthesizer. Mark and I met Mike Huckaby back in the mid 90?s and instantly connected over our love of synthesizers, producing Techno, Deep House and Dub Techno. We performed together at parties throughout the 90?s and 2000?s. It was always a dream for us all to work with the Waldorf Wave. Mark and I both had experience using their other wavetable synthesizers. One day we received a surprise call from Mike, he had purchased the Wave. Mike wanted to complete an EP that he used the Wave to make all of the sounds. He started some ideas and drove the Wave up to our studio in Toronto to complete and mix the ideas with us. ?My Life with the Wave? was born. Mike continued this project to include an elaborate collection of samples that he made of his patches. We were shocked to learn of Mike?s passing and wanted to do something to keep the love and passion of his music alive. Transfer is a project that utilizes some sounds from the Waldorf Wave collection along with some of the other Waldorf synths Mike also enjoyed working with (Microwave, XT and Blofeld). The Equations Collective is an experimental sound project formed by a multi-disciplinary group of artists, active in the fields of music, photography, sound design & software development.
In 2018, the collective set up a temporary outdoor recording studio, 1130 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Mount Helicon in Greece, with the ambition of recording their work in a natural environment. A 'mobile and modular' construction, fully powered by solar panels, the design of the studio showcases the possibilities of a progressive, environmentally sustainable future through renewable energy.
Embodying ecological incentives, and representing an immersive engagement with the landscape, the 'Helicon Sessions' document this extraordinary residency, capturing a profound dialogue with the eponymous mountain region.
Situated in Boeotia, Central Greece, Mount Helicon has a prominent archaic significance. A historic location where stories of sacred springs and the epic origins of the Muses and Narcissus converge. Steeped in the heritage of ancient narratives, Helicon is seen as a principal symbol of poetic inspiration.
On the 'Helicon Sessions' the collective draw upon the inspiring topography and fabled mythological resonances of the area, unfurling an expansive, hypnotic suite of abstract electronics. Liberated by an open-ended, improvisational dynamic, the collective move through a mysterious, elemental cycle that mirrors the imposing scale and dramatic atmospheres of the setting.
Across an entrancing, fluid sequence of five designated 'cuts', the collective traverse the borderlands of drone, techno, dub, and acid, amplifying the acoustic traces of Helicon by integrating field recordings collected at the site into this arresting body of work. With these recordings, the collective delineate an odyssey of subverted 303s, sputtering drum machines and formidable, oscillating low end that drifts and coalesces like an amorphous mirage; a spellbinding sound world of clarity and shadow.
The 'Helicon Sessions' signify a symbiosis (between the terrestrial and the engineered, between wildlife and futurism, between the intrinsic and the synthetic, between the innate and the manmade) And with their conception of a portable, eco-friendly studio The Equations Collective focalize valuable ideas centred on ingenuity and evolution. The outcome of this project illustrates a unique collaborative exchange which acknowledges the deep nuances of environment and the enduring echoes of history.
The Equations Collective is a collaboration between Artefakt, Aroma Pitch, Aphelion and Sphera De Noumenon across Berlin, Amsterdam, Cologne and Hamburg. Together they have established an all night long live event in Berlin, starting at Sameheads and Acud Macht Neu, which eventually lead to their residency at OHM (Tresor).
For this format they have collaborated with the following artists: Alex The Fairy, Anna Z, D-ix, Eliad Wagner, Jón Friđgeir Sigurđsson, Orson Wells, Phillip Jondo, Philipp Matalla, Prsmc, Rabih Beaini, Sabrina Gricourt, Sébastien Robert, and Vida Vojić.

While many of us are still looking for traces of lizard people wandering over a flat earth, your favourite producer’s favourite producer has already boarded his space vehicle in the direction of moon, closely observing our mediocre attempts to enrich our earthly existence. Magician Jichael Mackson opens his bag, presenting the signature sound he’s so famous and respected for. Deep and bass driven grooves, perfectly layered on top of each other like damask steel. In order to enjoy this masterpiece, we recommend to snort a big line of that “Digital Dust”. “Family Biz” is taking a more laidback and broken beat direction. Dense percussions, intricate harmonies and a lot of soul and jazz vibes are hidden in this gem. Best to be discovered with your friends and loved ones on a sunny day beneath a shady tree, enjoying a couple of glasses while waiting for the sunset. Geez, this is so damn gorgeous. “ath” ends this formidable EP. Again, no club inspired vibes (cos clubs are closed anyway, right?) pulsating out Mackson’s snyths, instead a more abstract broken beat crawling into our ears. Eerie sound modulations and creepy acid - lovers of DJ Krush’s older works might fall in love with this.

Following up to Rob Belleville's inaugural delivery, Fluid Electronics returns in 2021 with a new collaborative EP courtesy of Dutch veteran Jarno, the man behind Trouw's infamous Below evenings, and Fluid Electronics' co-founder and owner Shirazi, back in full swing after a ten-year break from production. The EP features remixes from Amsterdam's Love Over Entropy and seminal Rotterdam-based duo, Duplex. The A-side finds Shirazi and Jarno dishing out a vaporous dub with the focus track, "Late Night Thoughts". Engineering a mix of reverb-drenched atmospheric techno laced with hedonistic house accents and mystique-imbued melodies on a dreamy tip. Upping the tempo and overall vibe of the track, Love Over Entropy's remix propels its listener in a blazing corridor of synth arpeggios and luminous chords. The flip side sees Shirazi go solo on the ethereal "Continue Learning", all in evocative spaciousness and textural finesse, as it merges the immersive depth of Basic Channel-esque envelopes with further straightforward floor dynamics. Clone-affiliated duo Duplex provides a tighter, jacking match to the original's vaster headspace, tweaking it into a proper clinical club-ready weapon.

Jochem Peteri comes drifting back into earshot with some new Nwaq tackle in tow. Beyond the plentiful reissues of his timeless earlier works, Peteri is just as productive in the here and now. Now he’s minting a new label with three pieces that embellish the Nwaq soundworld with a fresh slant. ‘Above II’ is a crystal clear beam of light strapped to a kick that trips over itself with grace and poise. It’s forthright and yet wholly untethered, a pre-echo for the anchorless expanse of ‘Above I’, which buries some heavy bass ruminations very far down in the mix. That leaves it to ‘Dume’ to come staggering out all bleary-eyed, caked in last night’s distortion and yet still exuding a cracked beauty that stands up to the first light of dawn. The artwork which adorns this record is by environment sculpting internet artist Jan-Robert Leegte. Nwaq has always stood for a kind of environmental immersion, and this new emission compounds that idea in three distinct, refreshing ways.

Altone has been on our radar for quite some time now, following his progress with releases on fellow dub labels ETUI, Greyscale, Hello Strange, Ranges, SPCLNCH, Apnea and Cold Tear. We were presented with these cuts of dub over a year ago, waiting for the right opportunity to release these weapons upon the world, a world ready for change, thought, progress and understanding. Altone presents three cuts of pure deep dub. Altone presents Effuse, Slight Pain and Grain. Choosing the right person to do justice with a remix was a difficult process. We scoured the planet to find the right producer to compliment and do honor to the beautiful original that is Effuse. A man no stranger to our family, we welcome Upwellings for his debut on Primary [colours]. Upwellings remix takes the elements of the original and fuses them together with a hypnotic, low end driven masterpiece. A track for the early mornings, among the late night warriors. 2021 is the start of a new chapter and Primary [colours] is pleased to be back presenting tunes of depth and feeling to the new world. Techno isn’t a genre that has birthed many consistent albums, and the dub techno subgenre even less so, but one indisputable classic is Porter Ricks’ debut ‘Biokinetics’. Originally issued on the legendary Basic Channel sub-label Chain Reaction in 1996 following a trio of 12″s, ‘Biokinetics’ was the first of the label’s album releases, and still stands as its crowning achievement. Porter Ricks are Thomas Köner and Andy Mellwig, and between them they re-framed the techno sound, imbuing the spacious ambience pioneered by label bosses Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald with a frosty, isolated experimental bent, and combining it with the sort of haunted minimalism of early Plastikman. What separated ‘Biokinetics’ from other albums at the time was its unwavering narrative - the exact sound has been interpreted countless times since, but the immersive qualities of this singular record have rarely been touched. Maybe it is down to the silvery underwater concept that ties each track together - the bubbling pads, sub-aquatic basses and muffled kick drums. But as with any great album, it’s hard to exactly put your finger on what makes it a classic. Simply put ‘Biokinetics’ is one of the most important records in the genre and one of techno’s finest albums. It has been re-released ten years ago by Type Records, and now Mille Plateaux is celebrating Porter Ricks’ and Biokinetics’ 25th anniversary with this sumptuous double viny edition.

Fractions return to Fleisch for a third time with their debut LP, unleashing eight tracks of highly effective techno-infused body music inspired by the melodrama of French films such as La Haine and Irreversible. With a palette of modernized 90s rave elements they transport the listener on a cinematic ride of contrasts between the explosive and the soothing, through violence and action to love and hope. O$vmv$m the Bristol based production duo of Amos Childs (Jabu) and Sam Barrett (Kahn & Neek) have traditionally dealt in hazy, smoked out vignettes - seen across release for Idle Hands, No Corner and most recently providing music for the Manonmars LP. Where the duos previous work has explored ideas in short bursts which capture you then fades away; Idle063 takes their sound into unexplored directions and shows an evolution in their output. By extending their ideas into long form tracks within the traditional lineage of bristol soundsystem culture and combining it with their unique ear for sampling Phase 4 / Witch brings O$vmv$m's into a territory which shows how wide their sound can truly reach

Dutch groove connaisseur Ivano Tetelepta returns to his home base Eshu Records. Presenting four tripped out originals accompanied by two excellent reworks by befriended artists Jasper Wolff and Ion Ludwig. The pack perfectly captures the loosely and laid back attitude of the label and Ivano himself, doing their own thing as always. The a-side is all about the groove, a stripped down and playful rhythmic jam built for a hazy late night session with Ion Ludwig turning this inside-out, transforming the original into a lengthy minimal dub version. The early morning sun rays bring the vibes on the flipside where 'Loosen Up' is an atmospheric 90s feeling techno floater where Indigo aera head honcho Jasper Wolff shakes this up with a fierce techno twist. As special addition there's a 7" where Tetelepta shows one of his enlightening dub meditations and a rambling early Mills-esque tribal work-out.

Southern Lights celebrates its 5th anniversary with the first of two EP’s showcasing various artists titled “Charged Particles”. Charged particles is a metaphor taken from the Aurora Australis wonder, where charged particles from the sun enter the atmosphere on the poles and create the Aurora phenomenon. Creating the sonically charged particles for Volume 1 are 18 Figures, Cliche Morph, Bastian Balders and Shoal: a unified course that traverses across glacial textures, metallic soundscapes and sonic expeditions.

The Noir Music sub-label is back with a mysterious double A-sider. Short Vocal Cuts meets bassheavy & dubby Techno.

Idealist, Patrick Zigon, El Choop and Van Bonn took their hands on Insect O s full length album Atacama. Zurich based Idealist turns the epic New Dawn track into a raw techno mover with acidic chords and an air cutting hihat. For his remix of Resonance Biotop label head Patrick Zigon spices up the melodies with some disharmonic sounds and embeds it on top of a shuffling groove foundation. El Choop got on remix duties for Atacama and hit the ground running. Using multiband saturation and a granular software to create a pad, he s turned it into an entirely new exploding techno track. Van Bonn rounds up the remix edition. Using some trippy fx, he lays the chords and field recordings on top of a very deep dub beat in his mystic remix for Forest Of The Monkeys.

Maayan Nidam's launches her new imprint with a four tracks release from the ever-elusive Hubble, presenting deep and heavy sound esthetics we grew to expect from the intriguing producer as well as from Nidam's distinct preferences when curating her dj sets. The record begins with a promise to a spiritual journey, arriving to full expression on the second track. The flip side returns to the body with a primal groove that explores movement in personal space, fantastically growing to the firm and definite steps of the forth and final track on the EP.

Soma mainstay Deepchord returns with part 2 of the Luxury Series. This Double A release feature Deepchord s signature atmosphere rich tones and lush environments and also mark a slight upturn in terms of pressing on a more Techno vibe.

Luxury 3 opens as spacious as can be as the dynamic Modell crafts otherworldly pads and haunting tones, driven by muted kicks and driving subs. His effective use of delay and reverb knows no bounds as he subtly shifts synth stabs and background noise through the dimensional barrier, creating rhythms so refined they defy the natural law. His usual percussive wizardry is at work here that, whilst vigorous, retains a light atmospheric feeling keeping fully in line with the melancholic tones of the track. Clocking in around 14minutes, this is Modell as his most immersive.

Luxury 4 has a distinct Detroit heart to it. Those almost instantly recognisable saw waves, moulded by layers upon layers of processing, swirls and evolve and Deepchord slowly works in various elements of the track to unparalleled levels. Fairly reminiscent of earlier, more stripped work, subtle percussion brings things to life fairly quickly as Modell allows the layers of ethereal synths and processing to blend and fuse naturally, creating a cohesive background to which the listener can easily spend hours listening to, every time finding ever so slight nuances to each cycle of the track.

Deepchord never fails to impress with every release and can easily change his style up from previous incarnations based in pure atmospherics to his own unique brand of legendary Dub Techno
