We're here with the 14th vinyl release in our catalogue. And those of you who've been following us since day one can probably tell that it's something both new and quite familiar. How so? Well, because this particular record features a brilliant track released on CD ten years ago (!), as part of our "Mystical Deep Vol. 2" compilation, but the "new" part here is the two completely fresh remixes by two amazing artists. So let's get to the names, shall we? As for the track in question, we're talking about "Leagues Deep" - a forward-thinking half-stepper by two heavyweights known as Loxy & Resound. The track has been making waves for quite a while, and has finally reached the light of day on vinyl. As mentioned before, it is accompanied by two remixes. One is by an up-and-coming talent going by the name of Am94, who turns the original version into a dual narrative, so to speak: the first half is a proper action-packed syncopated roller, the second half - a more modern, deep sub-laden half-tempo interpretation of it. The other remix is brought to you by no one else than Resound himself, who's transformed the original piece into a breakneck-paced drum-focused killer. But do watch out for the bassline too - it takes absolutely no prisoners. You've been warned.

With a fundamental emphasis on the encouragement of genre hybridization, Evar Records, the Los Angeles-based imprint co-founded by Trickfinger (John Frusciante) and Aura T-09 (Marcia Pinna), continues its momentum with an expansive 9-track collection from Netherlands-based luminary, Limewax.

After making a strong first impression with its 2020 debut offerings, Evar Records has recruited Limewax to carry forward its mission of blurring boundaries and challenging conventions in electronic music. The Ukranian hard drum and bass hero happily obliged, referring to signing with Evar as a breaking point which allowed him, finally, to take full stock of his background in classical and electronic music simultaneously. Although Maxim Anokhin is widely known for his hard-edged breakbeats, releasing on labels such as Tech Itch Recordings, Position Chrome, Freak Recordings, and Prspct, the full scope of his artistry shines through on Untitled.

The opening cut, "Porcelaineworm," is a futuristic electro cut recalling IDM classics like AFX's "XMD5A." Of course, the virtuosic drum programming and hectic D&B sound which Limewax has built his reputation upon is here in spades on tracks like "Stay Lackey. Cuts like "Ushio" and "Whay1" are fascinating studies in contrastsâ€”the former balances bludgeoning techno of the Ansome and Perc variety with a resolve that recalls Fennesz's pastoral glitch abstractions. "Whay1," meanwhile, is sub-rattling drum and bass nuanced by cinematic string themes. "Getupa" is an experimental beat track that truly bangs, its layers of texture and field recordings placing Limewax in the company of bleeding-edge acts like SVBKVLT's breakout star Hyph11E. The very next track, "19NB," is a subtle update to the original minimal technical template established by Detroit icons Robert Hood & Jeff Mills.

While most of the album hurtles forward at hard techno and D&B tempos, "Maleisae" is a sensual 70 BPM track mixing ghostly R&B and acid. That spectacular cut heralds Untitled's intricate denouement. The brief "Wernmqbram" effortlessly reconciles a baroque minor-key piano theme with the renegade snares of classic jungle. "Hasan" is a true "closing credits" master stroke, half-time acid giving way to gorgeous IDM-meets-Blade Runner synth leads.

Far from a genre-jumping hodgepodge, Untitled is a remarkably coherent full-length by a virtuosic artist free to explore the entirety of their creative influences. The Tilburg-based artist cites the poets Marina Tsvetaeva and David Whyte as influential on Untitled and also listened to works by 1771-1862 works by organ builders when crafting the album. The end result reveals Limewax as a masterful, diverse artist, capable of any style he pursues. It's a clear indicator of the boundless promise of Evar's core principleâ€”a staunch refusal to put artists in boxes.

Much deserved, remastered reissue of ‘We Are I.E.’ by Lennie De Ice, arguably the first proto jungle tune, now coming correct with fresh remixes from Solo & Blades alongside Borai, as well as the sought-after Horsepower Productions remix. Released in 1991 on I.E. Records, an imprint based out of De Underground Records, a store in London’s Forest Gate run by Mike De Underground alongside Uncle 22 and Randall, it famously featured elements that paved the way for the Jungle sound. Centered around the Amen break, ragga style basslines, vinyl spinbacks and gun shot samples, it stood out as something different back in ’91, A certified classic, rinsed on dancefloors everywhere and anywhere, from back in the day to the present. Glasgow’s Lady Neptune follows her New Gorbals Gabber cassette E.P. with her debut vinyl release NOZ. Over the course of 23 bloody fisted minutes, Lady Neptune’s – aka Moema Meade - hyper destructed take on Gabber and Happy Hardcore breaks down the genre tropes before rebuilding them as a new pop music. If 2020’s New Gorbals Gabber showed an artist building their own language from fragments of different genres, 2022’s NOZ goes harder into the cyberpunk-ass future and takes no prisoners. Recorded and mixed at Glasgow’s legendary Green Door Studios and mastered by Rashad Becker, here Lady Neptune evolves into a monster.

With the classic weapons of Dutch Gabber – distorted 909 kick drums, bursts of noise and world-eating Rave-O- Matic hoovering synth riffs, Lady Neptune’s 6 tracks constantly threaten to careen off the speaker into the sweatiest, most gibbering, messy corners of the club. The two years since her debut has seen Meade destroying festival dancefloors, training for the full assault that is NOZ. Live performances have seen foam guns, tequila-pistols, neon stage dancers and a full, maxed-out orgy of fast-as-hell BPM, rave music burning up the cones. The experience reaps rewards from the outset on recorded form here. Apocolyps begins with monstrous vocals and the all-consuming kick, pulled back and taut for launch. The arsenal builds; warbling synths and high-pitched synth-strings before dropping into Bald Terror-sized hoovers and stuttering 4/4s. It quickly bleeds into Masterer, with a looped, pitched up vocal intersecting with the synth riff. The aesthetics might be Happy Hardcore but the dynamic feels like a synthetic, evil Nu Metal-influenced Industrial music. Constantly evolving and twisting with its own natural drama, the drop at 2:15 is pure ecstatic release. fusing Meade’s inclination for pop hooks with the first out-and-out 180bpm (ish, who’s counting?) anthemic melter of the E.P., Tell ME has THE big catchy chorus, used sparingly and sung by Meade with angelic devilishness, coming at you in waves of XTC. It’s a repeater.

It’s then massive fists in the air for the ruthless Side B opener WIT. In the Welsh-Brazilian artist’s adopted home of Glasgow it translates directly as What!? Itt makes sense. g. Sharp, weaponised, rhythmic punishment abounds before OH responds. Pitched up vocals and another mid-frequency synth hook wipes the slate clean. Like the best Gabber, the tension and release dynamic is used to full effect by Meade, with the thunderous low end kick -expertly tweaked in the mastering by Rashad Becker – slipping into the ghostly cavern. Industrialized 4/4 and noise-snares propel onwards to be utterly squashed by that bloody synth, stinging and horribly brilliant. Proving her genius for a ridiculous A-n-t-h-e-m, Time 2 Make U Feel Good closes the 23 minutes of ragged, drugged glory with a festival-slamming chorus built from the wreckage. It’s a song that does that thing we all know and love but can’t put our finger on. Sad, happy, tragedy, ecstasy, joy, horror...There’s big, minor chord changes (yes there’s some Chords on this slammer), the kick is submerged in layers of pads and Meade’s actual secret weapon: her vocal and knack for writing a chorus line. In the listener’s mind it’s over before it’s begun, a track destined for the big rewind.

NOZ is a breathless, E-number riddled eternal ecstasy.

Kitchen sink Scuzz n’ Bass from 1998 Tokyo underground. Existing somewhere between Drum n Bass, Musique Concrète, Noise music, and Free Jazz, and yet occupying a space all its own, Jigen was an integral part of the shadowy yet prolific Shi-Ra-Nui imprint and greater Tokyo underground music scene in general, working as much behind the scenes as in front of them. There is an inherent grit to the work on display here. Free Jazz drumming, bells, and flutes coarsely interact with skipping, precision breaks, and industrial (think equipment not music) atmospherics, punctuated by occasional gaps of silence. Samples disappear and reappear, creating a circular narrative, and the nine tracks on each album perhaps trigger a sense of mild dèjá vu within the listener. This is the first release from our new label, Kniteforce Prime, a label that is focusing on the very early days of rave, 1990-91. With more people returning to the roots of hardcore rave music, and that sound being the inspiration since the inception of Kniteforce Records, we felt it was time to start this new label. The 1990/91 era is full of bleeps, bass, pianos and breaks, and so Kniteforce Prime is heavily influenced by the Belgium techno, Italian Piano House, and UK old school sound of that time. So when it came to an opening artist for the label there was only one person to choose, Innercore. He has been making this style, along with others, for many years, and with this huge EP he didn’t disappoint. The tracks are as varied as the sound was back in those days. Piano’s, hoovers and synths are all here across the EP, from light to dark and everything in the middle.

MC DUKE was one of the first UK rappers to find a serious level of success, laying the ground work for a generation of hip hop talent to follow. As well as being a UK hip hop legend, he was also one of the pioneers of the early British hardcore / jungle sound & owner of the Hard Disk record label.

The legacy of MC Duke with the early rave sound was cemented in history forever when The Prodigy sampled his voice for their chart topping hit Everybody In The Place! He was also one of the first MC’s on London’s infamous Kool FM. As a producer Duke was signed to the Boogie Times label, sister imprint of the genre defining Suburban Base, under the alias E.K.U.D.C.M. (which is MC Duke spelled backwards).

The first slice of vinyl on this collection features rare cuts from 1993 and perfectly showcases the evolution of the rave era into the sound that was at the time described as jungle techno, the precursor to jungle as we now know it.

Vinyl number 2 is the one that will get the collectors salivating... Featuring music by The Man With No Name, currently the only copies of these tracks are available at an asking price of £167 on the resale market, with people already parting with up to £155 to own a copy via re-seller site discogs!

Our third & fourth disc once again features 2 of MC Dukes alias’ with the darkside goodness that is Quiji Board, and closes with the most up to date track from the compilation by Phiziks previously unreleased on vinyl.

All tracks on this Hard Disk compilation have been expertly re-mastered to give you the optimum listening experience while retaining that authentic early 90’s sound you’d expect. Jon K & Elle Andrews MAL imprint returns with its second release - a long rumoured excursion from Equiknoxx skippers Gavin “Gavsborg” Blair and Jordan “Time Cow” Chung operating under the Gav & Jord masthead for the first time. It’s their most probing x tight set of productions thus far - showcasing that naturally wild rhythmic mutability that’s earned them followers in every corner of the experimental paradigm over the last few years. ‘Writings Ov Tomato’ ties off a certain loop between Equiknoxx and their early supporter Jon K, who was pivotal in bringing their productions to the attention of Sean Canty at DDS, who went on to release their by-now seminal ‘Bird Sound Power’ album a good half-decade ago. This new set of tracks came about after MAL suggested to the duo that they explore any under-excavated musical territory they’d been thinking about since they began to tour the world, and the result is this incredible, purely instrumental LP that romps between Autechrian mutations, avant R&B swangers, Jersey-style sluggers and proper, wig-flipping club missiles. Who else would boot off a new LP with a track titled ‘Childish House Mafia’? The fact it sounds like Actress formulating an industrial noise tape using ritual chants just makes it all the more screwy. The title track returns the duo to more familiar ground, with prickly “Bird Sound Power” drums notched up a few BPM and spliced with whirring trap hats and disorienting synths. ‘A Yow Jon K’ is a Kingston-fried take on sun-bleached Miami electro, with a rolling beat filled out by Gav & Jord’s hard boiled soundboard x foley crunches, before ‘Pig Pilot’, the record’s most substantial cut, loops JBC Radiophonic Workshop convulsions around a booming 4/4 that wouldn’t sound completely out of place at Berghain’s Klubnacht. Saturating the hook and allowing ferric hats to fill in the gaps, the pair manage to fabricate a sound closer to 1970s library music than Villalobos, and we’d wager you ain’t ever heard owt like it. Combine all this with lower-key slithering industrial-ambient moments like the plughole-wonked outro ‘Brent Bird’ (named after Gav’s producer brother), the tuned tinkle of ‘No Sweat in my Sweatpants’ and the airborne elegance of ‘Appinness’, and you’ve got another Equiknoxx joint that draws from the syncretic mosaic of Afro-Latin-Sino-US influences and re-contextualises them into remarkably odd and effective structures that dance in the integers of a myriad styles.

Inspiration comes in many forms; the city in which we live, the culture from countries across the globe and our love for TV, film and books.This rings true for FFF as a move from his home of Vlissingen in 98 to Rotterdam, combined with his love for UK sounds and comic books created a unique, outward-looking perspective. The DJ, producer and long term party thrower now turns in a record for Low Battery; so come and see for yourself.

Opening track 'In Toom' launches a satellite straight into deep space, picking up transmissions from an unknown source. The track deploys alien electronics and other-worldly vocal snippets, building a curious and ghostly atmosphere. Bass lures heavy around the mid-way point creating an increasing sense of unease, as unidentifiable objects head straight for earth. The aptly titled 'Desperately Seeking Summer' is a giant leap toward the good times ahead. You can sense its energy in the air; the smell of freshly cut grass, the charcoal from a newly lit BBQ and the coastal breeze on a warm summer's day. Summer is almost here and we could all do with a serotonin boosting elixir.

The B-side opens with 'Voices' as candy-floss vocals topped with xtra sugar taste even better with every play; while ascending basslines and frenetic drums join hands to produce that FFF energy we all know and love. 'Full of Light' provides tranquility at the end of a wild ride, as shimmering synths shine with radiant bliss with the power to transcend "bathed in light and lifted in what I can only call another dimension."

Dutch jungle loons FFF and Coco Bryce team up once again for another Amen excursion on Myor Massiv. Space is the place on this 12”, with both jams featuring a short documentary's worth of chatter about giant planets, failed stars and opposing quadrants. Whereas FFF takes a rather intricate and, dare I say it, intelligent approach on the A-side, Coco Bryce's “More Massiv” goes straight for the throat, with Amen chops and a double tempo pulse bassline being dropped mere seconds after take off.

Germany based MC Fava releases his first solo EP on Beatalistics, the imprint he co-runs with Freiburgs soulful tag team partner Enea. This has been a long time coming and it couldn't be more emotional. The 5 track strong "Destiny EP" reveals more of the hopeless romantic songwriter's soul and once again showcases his immense versatility. Finish Drum 'n Bass legend Muffler adds his inimitable minimal melodic touches to the title track and underlines Fava's personal lyrics with his trancy trademark signature. Shooting Star Mountain from Japan shows his unique talent and musical approach on the 80s Synth-Pop influenced "Midnight", a rock-bass driven song characterized by its harmonised vocals arrangement. Teaming up with British vocalist Becca Jane Grey and Slovakian Smote, "Sarah" is a soul touching piano based liquid roller with a long acoustic drum intro which perfectly leads into the highest emotions. Enea himself takes you into deeper shades of colour with the moody "Green Velvet". Hypnotizing pads complete the warm bassline pattern which wraps the simple but distinctive drums perfectly around Fava's mesmerizing vocals. The Green Man from Cologne, Germany concludes the emotional rollercoaster ride with the Downtempo Chill-Hop "Alone in the Dark". Smooth horns and breathy pads create the perfect atmosphere for the German vocalist who playfully mixes melodic singing hooks with calm spoken words and repetitive chants. Outstanding on all levels!

Experiences Limited, now 3XL, with a sick new LP from Exael on a highly atmospheric ambient jungle tip, deploying 30 mins of percussive spasms seeping into smoked-out zoners - highly tipped if yr into anything from Lee Gamble to Malibu.Clearing their cache of stray bullets, Exael returns with a gyring plunge into percussive wormholes and low-lit mood enhancers .The tracks are broadly cleft along schisms of dark/light and demonic/ angelic, switching from restive propellers to more sublime sensations in a fine testament to their practice - making for prob our favourite Exael release thus far. On the “darker” side, they commit the convulsive, fractious footwork pulses and warped tones of ‘Circle (Squishy Mix)’ in a sort of parallel to 33EMYBW’s insectoid rhythms and combustion systems, while ‘Ice That melts The Tips’ trades in rapid, ice-skating thizz and ‘Ghoul Search (Demonic Attachment Mix)’ fires up the junglist particle accelerator for a proper gauntlet of hyper techstep dynamics. The contrast is epitomised by ’Composure’, arranging flinty breaks on a luscious waterbed of floating pads, before ‘Eidolon’ renders a sort of airborne dembow pressure in the vicinity of Ben Bondy & special guest dj’s xphresh works. ‘L-theanine’ closes the session on a fine tread inside emo ambient styles and flurries on the same spectrum between DJ Lostboi and Teresa Winter, complete with a reverberating, half-buried vocal.
