Warning: Hazardously sour bangers! Mani Festo joins the SweetBox ranks with two acid hardcore jungle tekno A-bombs: ‘Toxic Waste’ and ‘Warehouse 2.0’. A true man of the moment, Mani’s finely tuned productions are in high demand right now. His SweetBox debut starts deceptively slow, building up a head of steam via an incessant pulse and faint industrial chug. Spirits From An Urban Jungle – A group consisting of JMJ & Richie (Moving Shadow/Good Looking) and Tekniq (Moving Shadow/Formation) who released two EPs on Whitehouse Records in 1994 and a recent, quickly sold out, EP on Vinyl Fanatiks sister label – Amen brother.

Their first release on Whitehouse was repressed by Vinyl Fanatiks in 2020 on red vinyl and sold out. This is a limited run on blue vinyl and is some deeper, Bukem styled tracks that pre-dated the ‘intelligent’ drum & bass sound that went stratospheric the following year.

2023 kicks us off with release three from Amentec. Following on from MOY and BufoBufo, Ova Doce joins the label and brings in his joyous brand of uplifting rave, with a deeper edge. With previous releases on sister label Amen Brother as well as Vinyl Fanatiks, Ova Doce is an original hardcore producer and radio DJ from the early 90’s who returned to producing in 2019 after the success of his repress on Vinyl Fanatiks.

And he is fully motivated to bring those 90’s vibes and sounds to a new audience as well as the original party crew out there. Linking into the Amentec’s other sister label – Emotec (run by Damo B of Outta Limits radio show fame) we have two producers from that camp on the remix tip. Dawl, who is a legend in the electro/breakbeat world and has released on loads of labels including Tone Dropout, Planet 17 and Amen Brother. And the other remix is by Escape Earth, who is in fact two producers working together – BufoBufo who you already know and Corporeal Face, who records on Further Electronix.

Throughout her much-lauded career as a DJ and producer, Ciel has worked hard to build community through events and DJ workshops in her home city of Toronto and on a larger scale with podcasts and projects meant to elevate women artists. The title of her latest EP, “All We Have Is Each Other,” reflects her history of mutual support, and in these times when so many of our connections seem broken by the pandemic, it offers a reminder that music still has the power to unite us. Ciel has never been an artist who lets genres define or constrain her, so it seems only fitting that this release lands on Mister Saturday Night Records, a New York City label with a similar ethos. It’s in this refusal to restrict her sound to narrow definitions that something magical happens. This 5-track EP spanning dance floor fillers and home listening pieces builds on a frame of tough footwork-paced kick drums, the skip and swing of 2-step garage, broken house, and slow, meditative beats. Woven throughout are hopeful melodies, dappled with sunlight tones and layered with organic percussion. The connective tissue is a deep feeling of joy and hopefulness in the power of music and collective humanity. When the world goes up in flames, all we have is each other. D'Cruze, the legendary DnB producer synonymous with some of Suburban Base's biggest tracks such as 'Lonely' and 'Watch Out' now sees some of his unreleased productions finally getting a much sought-after release.

The Hidden Trax EP's theme comes from concept that the D'Cruze limited US only edition album contained tracks that were only discovered if you allowed that album to play on beyond what was supposed to be the last song, after a gap of silence no track ID and not listed on the track titles. This is where you’d find 'Bittersweet' pt 2 as a hidden track on the CD. This was Bittersweet’s only ever appearance having never been released in the UK and never released on vinyl or digitally worldwide.

The lush rolling workout of ‘Hardstep' is probably our most requested track that has never had a vinyl release having only briefly appeared on the very limited CD only ‘Subbase Sampler’, demand for a vinyl pressing of this has been called for since 1996.
Another beautiful hidden gem 'Sublime State' from 1995 wouldn’t be known to our UK audience as it’s an exclusive tune to the US only CD release that has never seen a UK or vinyl release.

Rounded off with the incredibly beautiful 'Meus Precious Filius', an unheard unreleased D’Cruze track that was considered a 'lost DAT' until recently surfaced. We are now able to bring this to the world as an epic slice of fresh music from D’Cruze.

The EP is presented on blue and black splattered vinyl making every single piece uniquely different. Original custom sleeve artwork is provided by Suburban Base legendary artist Dave Nodz in his iconic graffiti influenced style.
