Nuclear decay occurs when the nucleus of an atom is unstable and spontaneously emits energy in the form of radiation. The result is that the nucleus changes into the nucleus of one or more other elements. These daughter nuclei have a lower mass and are more stable (lower in energy) than the parent nucleus. “Ábris Gryllus is a cross-disciplinary media artist and musician based in Budapest. He is well-known for several projects, collaborations and performative works with choreographers, sculptors, dancers and other musicians. As a tireless artist always open to new possibilities, Gryllus has worked on dance pieces, educational workshops and installations; he is one-half of the beat-oriented group FOR., and not least of all, he produces immersive electronic music under his own name. His solo materials include the frantic vocal-based ‘Canon’ (The Death of Rave) and two releases on Farbwechsel (‘Post_’, ‘A.D.’) that feature a rather focused, slowly forming approach to composition.

Lexi Disques is a maverick label based in Brussels since 2008 that explores the rich possibilities of the 7-inch record single. We're delighted to welcome Los Angeles-based producer Ahnnu, aka Leland Jackson, back to NNA Tapes to share his brilliant new full-length album 'Special Forces.' Over the years, Jackson has made his mark on the world of electronic music production not only with his innovative works as Ahnnu, but with his footwork/dance alias Cakedog as well. Following up the 2013 NNA release 'Battered Sphinx,' and more recently 2015's 'Perception' on Leaving Records, Ahnnu returns to push his sound collage expeditions further into the deep beyond by excavating fragments and ethos from music history's past and infusing them with the electronic frequencies of a future landscape.

Angel-Ho proclaimed virtuoso, also known as Angelo Valerio/Deep In The Pussy/Ruffle Queen, and a co-founder of NON Worldwide, is in celebration of what makes them uniquely queer. With a limited run of their vinyl titled Red Devil, Angel-Ho presents an array of classical electronic inspired cacophony. This is a chance for the symphony to be contextualized, since its release not having any word spoken by the artist a Beyoncé moment if you will. Red Devil is an autobiographical mix where by Angel presents the realities of the mind, ones ability to shift their perspectives of the world, through applying the principles of balance in their music. All which is deeply connected to the experiences queer and trans people encounter daily, be it personal demons to greeting violence in public to the reasoning of joy among the chaos, Angel describes it as transformation. So many people live in fear of transformation and I am not necessarily making it a point to gender, sexuality, but not limited to recent political or social acts in 2017. I enjoy transformation like many of my fellow artists around the globe. Everyone forgets that I studied art and have done performances prior to the release of Ascension. Being able to see beyond my mind and make things tangible is a mirror of how I move through space, time, and transformation, wasting no time in doing so I want to be the best I can be because in doing so I see the cause and effect of being true to ones nature, to do what makes you happy with what youve got. Red Devil is led by a fierce orchestra and choir, of which Angel-Ho visualises animates in their dreamscape, not being reduced to its potential as a digital sound file. It is inspired greatly by the collision of music styles and genres and true to the proceeding agency of Angels own envisioning of a, moffie only, klopse troupe roaming through the neighbourhood at 2am in the Summer with their sharpened instruments ghostly parading the echo of their afternoon rehersals. Red Devil becomes a celebration of all that is denied by ourselves and others. The self-saboteur, as RuPaul Andre Charles heralds, is what is vanquished through ones ability to name it and deconstruct the information as to why one would perceive a dismal perception of reality what halts ones ability to achieve and excel. It is through this action we can equip ourselves with the tools we need to perceiver in a world where we living queer, breathing trans, bodies have to everyday prepare ourselves for the worst when leaving the solitude of our homes and safety of our family.

Anton Klint has been on our radar for a good 10 years now with killer releases as Tiedye on Italians Do It Better, and under his own name on Public Possession, 2MR and Hivern Discs just to mention a few. Since 2016 he’s also been running the label Tryck & Ton together with his old Tiedye sparring partner Edvin Edvinsson. We’re psyched to have him onboard and we hope you are to!

Colours Of Absence is the follow up to Original Soundtrack. Both albums were written during the 2020 pandemic lockdown, which was no doubt a phase of experimentation and pushing boundaries, as producers found themselves with a lot of time and no dancefloors.

This saw ASC pushing himself creatively and focusing on instrumentation within his ambient music, and in the case of both Original Soundtrack and Colours Of Absence, this meant the piano. The piano focus is a little less obvious in Colours Of Absence though, as this album attempts to strike a balance between ASC's 'traditional' beloved ambient work, and the aforementioned Original Soundtrack. 9 tracks spread over two slices of clear vinyl that will take your emotions on a journey like no other. Sit back and absorb Colours Of Absence.

Sonic Healing is the third full-length release by Martin Steer’s Bad Stream project. While the concept was started by one person in response to a singular situation, it fully came to life as a product of collective imagination. For the album, Steer sent a single guitar loop to twelve musicians from the extended network of his ANTIME label who improvised with the recording, which was later collaged by Steer into a single, 39 minute long track that stylistically ranges from feverish jazz to brooding ambient and abstract electronica. Together with the Iranian artist Arash Akbari’s vivid animations based on generative algorithms and real-time processing, »Sonic Healing« does not ask how one person can deal with turmoil in their life alone, but how we can create new forms of being together with art as a mediator.

Belgian-based artist's Beyond Beyond Is Beyond debut. Like Tangerine Dream's early work, Pagus Wasiae casts off a ragged rock shore into a bubbling sea of electronics and navigates by dark starlight, leaving in its wake shadows and smoke. DePaepe charges waves of synth ambience, swirls clouds of electric guitar and summons subtle beats of the earth to make Pagus Wasiae a fully enveloping and dynamic listening experience-astral traveling without moving. Cluster, Taj Mahal Travellers, and Pink Floyd's deepest space excursions may be waypoints Pagus Wasiae's navigation.

We're starved for two-sided 12"s in the world of ambient music, but Chris Madak aka. Bee Mask has refreshingly graced us with one this week. It should be said that there's Skee Mask and then there's Bee Mask; the latter is far more unsung, undeservingly so. Madak's music is abstract and cerebral enough to have lent him credo enough to have released on the likes of Weird Forest, Spectrum Spools and Room40. But this latest reissue, 'Versailles Is Not Too Large Or Infinity Too Long', hears him plunge the ethereal heights for the US label Unifactor. Originally released on cassette on Chondritic Sound in 2008, these pieces deserve the renewed attention and the fresh laying to wax, since they're not 'regular ole' ambient cuts in the slightest. Unafraid of indulging the high end freqs, Bee Mask fleshes out a mood of uncertain, urgent bliss - sizzling, crunching and soaring the drone, as if its maker were a modern Icarus flying too close to the sun.

Selwa Abd (originally from Morocco, currently residing in Brooklyn) uses the fictional character Bergsonist, from Brooklyn, Slovakia, as her musical guise. Derived from Deleuze's Bergsonism, Bergsonist uses intuition as a method to deliver her/his instinctive psychoanalytic theories. A blend of different audio sources and samples are used as a way to capture the essence of the 'present' moment, manipulating found sounds along with self-concocted digital fragments to combine in in the span of a set, given time. Bergsonist allows inspiration to come from anywhere, yet she/he limits themselves by the gear/tools that are used. The approach consists of inhaling all the energy of the city - influenced by trips to museums, galleries, shows, talking to people. and sensing nature - and exhaling it sonically. Bergsonist reacts to this energy and inspiration without any specific rules, styles, or genres - extending the array of possibilities by always pushing preconceived uses of the tools. Following a slew of cassette-only releases from labels across the global map and a split 12" with Isabella on Borft Records last year, Selwa shares her most twisted and considered compositions to date with Mutation. Four fire-stoking tracks of electro convulsions sparked from indecipherable depths inflame new terrains for an artist whose output is inextinguishable - prolific barely covers the rapidity with which Bergsonist shares new jams to a lucky few - proffering Mutation as an indelible moment in Selwa's blossoming career. Mutation features a ripped / thrashed remix from in-the-cut edit wizard, Murray CY. Mutation will be available in a limited vinyl edition of 200 with artwork designed and conceived by Selwa and Benoit Canaud Studio.

“If you slide in on Bisk’s homepage, you will see at the very top it says “Good Electronic Music” – a brave, and foremost, true statement. Being an active producer since 1996 Bisk has released seven albums, and after a 12-year hiatus he returned again in 2012. Bisk’s eighth album is Vacation Package on Ominira.

Vacation Package consists of eight eclectic tracks, their origins being traced back to several performances taking place at radical live music venue Forestlimit, Tokyo, in late 2019 and early 2020. Reinterpreted, reconstructed, sawed into pieces, Bisk presents his own fragmented interstellar funk: ultramodern yet effortlessly cool and timeless, with a slight relaxed nonchalance. Warm, groovy basslines centering stretched out cosmic colours, gliding melodies and vocals. Bisk’s play with rhythms and his intense, at times rather sparse, drops of beats makes the pace so speedy that, contrary, the record seems to go in ultrarapid - taped so fast it actually plays to the listener in slow motion. Bisk presents a sincere and emotive collection of work with Vacation Package. Funky and slick, without the cheese.”

Brendan Angelides, previously known as Eskmo and Welder, is an accomplished electronic music producer and composer on prestigious labels such as Interscope, Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, and Warp Records. Angelides latest venture, 'Oxygen' released under Ancestor label, represents a deeply personal and transformative artistic journey. Angelides presents his most personal work to date through his new album Oxygen, released on Ancestor. Becoming a father to twins in 2020, he channels the emotional dimensions of bringing new life into the world while processing his daughter’s diagnosis of cerebral palsy. ‘Stepping into parenthood for anyone is chaotic, and her condition felt like another foreign, unknown experience,’ he reflects. ‘Writing Oxygen out of that place was an embodiment of “life is messy” but distilling it into something that therapeutically felt right and that I want to share with people on the outside.’ With Oxygen, Angelides arrives at a vivid new horizon of his multi-genre output, intertwining his signature electronic palette with an array of orchestral incantations performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra. Across eleven compositions, expansive synth distortions meld with the lucent glow of instrumentation. Imagine a sound that merges Berlin School into the 4th World or a „kraut-groovy, afro-beat from a jungle far from the bush“, as The Guardian once described the sound of Circuit Diagram, a Hamburg/Berlin based electroacoustic-trance duo. Ursumpf marks the duo’s first solo physical release, apart from the collaboration with Richard Fearless, also known as Death In Vegas, on Hamburg’s Golden Pudel Pudel Produkte label in 2020.
