"latzfonser Kreuz / Feltuner Hütte scheduled for release on September 20th 2024 is the third single to be lifted from Ulrich Troyer's Transit Tribe due later this year.
Mamadou Diabate, originally from Burkina-Faso and now resident in Vienna, who is also a world-famous virtuoso balaphon player, collaborates on "Latzfonser Kreuz" with fellow countryman Hamidou Koita to produce a remarkable percussion track, both singing and employing talking drum and djembe to come up with a sound that can only be described as dubbed-out Nyahbinghi-style electro-beats! The track references the little church at Latzfonser Kreuz, which is the highest pilgrimage spot in South Tyrol, one of the highest in Europe; every year in June, the Black Lord, a black carved Gothic wooden cross, is brought from the village church in Latzfons to thepilgrimage church, where it remains throughout the summer.
On the flip for "Feltuner Hütte" Ulrich Troyer is joined by co-producer Osman Murat Ertel, founding member of the electro-psych-folk group Baba Zula from Istanbul, who has worked internationally for many years collaborating with the likes of Jaki Liebezeit, Fred Frith and Mad Professor. But here Murat takes us on a dub psych-out trip with his favoured electric saz, with wha wha FX, delay and echo, like Link Wray meeting King Tubby on the old streets of Istanbul."

"echoes Part 1 and 2 scheduled for release on 17th of May is the first of three singles set to introduce the next album project of Ulrich Troyer - Transit Tribe - to be released later this year.

Featuring the jazz vibes of Flip Philipp of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, "echoes" has all the resonance of pure gamelan in dub, stately, processional and instrumentally rhythmic with its sparser second part isolating contrasting pulses as the complexity unfolds and dazzles.

Twenty years in the making, now the fully developed vision of multi-instrumentalist Vienna-based Ulrich Troyer can be heard coming to its final fruition. The interface of electronics and the unique warmth of human interplay is apparent on this track as well as all the other sounds to be heard on the album where a remarkable array of new and old friends contribute to the proceedings. Thematically the album, as may be gathered from its title, is a clear appeal for humanity to be shown as the people of the world struggle to cope with increasing problems, whether caused by movement or lack of movement."

Cotenius X is an exploratory improvisational project of the Ukrainian sound artist Daria Redkina and the
Russian experimental vocalist Varya Pavlova aka Lisokot. Improvising together since 2017 they
incorporate folk, electronic and musique concrète elements into their spontaneous compositions. “Plastic
Bag” is a testament to collaboration - an archival reflection of the time the duo spent experimenting
together. Their theatrical performances involve impersonation or adoption of different characters and are
informed by social, political, historical, and site-specific narratives. The duo has been compared to The
Residents and see themselves carrying the psychedelic absurdity of the US group forward by giving it a
feminine twist.

Borka's new 7" is a double single which features two tracks, taken from his new Places EP.
The A side features Todra, a track that builds up slowly, but before one knows it, it becomes a full-on neck breaker. The samples transport us to rocky Moroccan gorges, but do so with a killer hip-hop mood that bring to mind early Dimlite stuff.
On the B side we have Svetac, a track that swirls around a distinctively engaging folk sample, which immediately drops us on an island in the middle of the Adriatic sea. But Borka and his collaborator nikson manage to build a space portal around it that constantly flips between images of careless summer evenings and interstellar voyages.

Ted Milton and Graham Lewis return as Elegiac with their second release – a four track EP inch titled “Meet My Stalker”. The pair of idiosyncratic sonic stylists, bullish outsiders with a Dadaist's ear for unexpected rhythms and ear-catching turns of phrase return showcasing a new track – the title of the EP - along with three bass heavy dubbed out no wave versions of tracks from their self titled debut LP.

Ted Milton is a prolific poet, with several volumes under his belt, as well as an avant-garde puppeteer. Yet he's probably best known as vocalist/saxophonist with psycho-funk afro punk fake no-wave pogo jazz trio Blurt. Milton's group has produced an impressive string of albums, not to mention his numerous solo recordings.

Meanwhile, Edvard Graham Lewis has a history of strong solo releases, both under his own name and as He Said. And of course, as bassist, lyricist and sometime vocalist with post punk innovators Wire, he's been responsible for numerous landmark releases, from 1977's Pink Flag, to 2003's Send, to 2020's Mind Hive.

Arranged, like the album, by electronic composer and sound artist Sam Britton whose sure touch pieces all the elements together. Kicking off with a stripped down driving shortened version of “He Folds” with its eerie honking sax and kraut like pulsating bass the perfect complement to Milton’s chorus echoing throughout. “Boat” is another album track beefed up with Milton’s chants backed by layered percussive blasts and squawking sax. “Meet My Stalker” makes its first appearance here with its infectious snarling looped bassline and Milton’s refrain “It’s a wind up”. Closing out with another album highlight an elongated version of “Vancouver Slim” all synth bleeps and ricocheting grumbling sax and hypnotic vocals. Punchy, idiosyncratic, packed with melody and groove, this second release is the fascinating sound of an evolving Elegiac.

With the release of Piero Umiliani’s ‘Discomania (Jolly Mare Lifting)’ Four Flies launched Reloved, a vinyl series where contemporary DJs and producers rework tunes from Italian golden age soundtracks and library music.

The aim of the series is to spark a conversation between past, present and future, joining the dots between Italy’s great film and library-music tradition and a global scene of forward-thinking producers - the names confirmed so far include Dengue Dengue Dengue, Free The Robots, Jolly Mare, Koralle (feat. Illa J), Fratelli Malibu, Mounika, Oké aka Deda, Luke Beats, Ollie Teeba of The Herbaliser and Deca. First in line is the 7” ‘Autumn 2001 / Autumn 2021’, with an original track from Italian jazz pianist and electronic music pioneer Gianni Safred and a rework from musician, DJ and beat maker Free The Robots.

‘Autumn 2001’ comes from the 1978 Italian library LP Futuribile (The Life To Come), a retro-futuristic masterpiece by Gianni Safred, one of the great pioneers of Italian electronic music.

Chris Alfaro, aka Free the Robots, is a musician, beat maker and DJ known for his ability to jump in and out of different sonic worlds, creating a unique signature sound blending electronic, hip hop, jazz and psychedelia.

Hot City Orchestra delivers the first release of the new label Internet Is Over. The title track "The Planet" is inspired by the earth, nature, birds singing in the sky, an orchestra playing at the Opera House and a 808 looping forever in Downtown Detroit. It all started with waiting music for the city of Ghent information telephone line. City composer Fulco Ottervanger (Cruise Lento) envisioned a music in which waiting time would serve as an invitation to stillness and presence. Long-term friend and producer Lieven Van Pée (Vectrex) turned out to be the ideal companion.

However, the music was never used, yet it had not missed its magical effect. The two gentlemen were now determined to make a full ambient album in which silence would play a leading role, both intuitive as well as elaborated down to the smallest unit of time... An additional approach was to make music to lull their newborn sons to sleep. With melodies simple, sounds sweet and silences deep.

Inspiration came from Haruomi Hosono's 1984 obscure classic Watering a flower, Eric Satie's Vexations and how could it be otherwise, John Cage's 3'44. What these progressive yet universal compositions have in common is a refinement of repetition and both a soothing and stimulating character. As a listener you can't help but dive into the silence and experience an certain sweetness. The ideal record to rest to, to wake up to and enter a wider field.

‘Elite Controller’ c/w ‘Softness on the Other Side’ is the second 7” single containing two of four tracks produced by transcontinental duo ‘Gruuel’, featuring James Vinciguerra and Beau Wanzer, between 2019 and 2023. The duo appear here in an expanded form with third member and Vinciguerra ‘Act Now’ collaborator Tarquin Manek, heard as multi instrumentalist jack-of-all-trades performing guitar, bass guitar, synthesiser and bass clarinet to accompany Wanzer’s hazy drum machine patterns and Vinciguerra’s mutated vocals.

The single is the first release on Elations Recordings’ ‘Deviations’ imprint, focusing on the outer realms of experimentation and fringe expression. Two subterranean, science-non-fiction snapshots capturing the spirit of the forward looking art-experimental groups of the late 1970s and early 1980s that were lumped in with the punk movement.

The a-side ‘Elite Controller’ is the more immediate of the two tracks; a paranoid fever dream of raw, psychedelic guitars underpinned by dub bass and Vinciguerra’s deranged mutant vocals; while the b-side ‘Softness on the Other Side’ takes a more self-reflective turn. A passive, spoken word cautionary telling of the dangers while searching for personal nirvana accompanied by Manek’s tortured bass clarinet impressions. Recommended for fans of Chrome, Tuxedomoon or K. Leimer’s experimental “artificial” band ‘Savant’.

This EP is more than your usual remix package—»Remixed« is a meeting of kindred, idiosyncratic spirits. Ricardo Villalobos, Ada, and Tolouse Low Trax each give a new spin to one track from »You're Super In Diagonal«, the latest album by Ant Orange. Their versions of »Monogome«, »Flutter«, and »Cracker« are complemented by the brand-new track by the elusive artist, »fff«.

Villalobos keeps it short and sweet—at least by his standards. His rendition of »Monogome« translates the mutant jungle vibes of the original into an entirely different dialect while maintaining its psychedelic qualities. The chugging, nine-minute-long »Siebhouse Remix« is at once rhythmically intricate and positively disorientating. Ada proves to be as imaginative as ever with her first remix in three years. Her take on the album opener »Flutter« extracts the track’s warmth and transplants it into a laid-back downbeat track. She also incorporates the vocals from »Monogome«, but gives it a very different spin and adds a healthy dose of autotune to it in the process. Dreamy, hazy, blissful.

On the flipside, Detlef Weinrich approaches things very differently. His »Bo Bo Zy Remix« of »Cracker« offers industrial at its most inebriated, dub riddims after a bottle of hard liquor instead of a spliff. Ant Orange’s »fff« then seems to mediate between those three very different approaches: danceable yet melancholic, challenging yet restrained, it picks up on the underlying concept of »You're Super In Diagonal«, combining IDM’s penchant for complex rhythmic structures and a directness inherent to hip-hop music since the early days of the genre up until the age of UK drill.

Hell Yeah is proud to present the return of Jazz N Palms with a superb new project following the success of his Ses Rodes album. 'Milano' as a 7" with radio and instrumental versions alongside an original video and expressive artwork by Parisian studio Nokko.

Jazz N Palms is a jazz-inspired project from Italian DJ and producer Riccio. He started this project after moving to Ibiza and falling under the spell of its ancestral side, its sweet and slow pace of life and the natural rhythms of the beauty in the north of the island. In summer, he served up his fantastic Ses Rodes double album which was dedicated to the original way of life that had remained almost unchanged till the early 80s party explosion.

This new track came about after Riccio heard Piera Martell's 1978 soul-jazz track 'Exotica' in a mix by Phil Mison. The idea was reimagine the song with new lyrics and set in Milan, in the early days when the town was invaded by unusual and exotic palm trees in Piazza Duomo. The song tells the story of a country teenager who is unsure about heading to a big new city after receiving an invitation. The story will retrieve familiar emotions for many of us who have faced similarly important decisions in our life, but this time married to an escapist groove.

For this release, the original 'Exotica' has been fully replayed by contemporary musicians from the multi-genre Italian ensemble 291out, with whom Riccio has worked in the past. It has new lyrics sung in Italian by fellow 291out collaborator Giovanna Lubjan after permission was given by original composer Salvo Ingrassia.

'Milano' is a luxurious soul-jazz fusion. It has exotic guitar lines and gently persuasive rhythms topped by the soaring vocal from Lubjan. A steamy sax helps the temperature rise as the track unfolds and traps you under its gorgeous spell.

This is a timeless package of blissed-out brilliance from Jazz N Palms.

The word datasal paints inner pictures for most people growing up in Sweden during the 1990’s. The datasal (a classroom for computers) was an ordinary classroom with few changes to fit the school’s 10 newly leased computers. The room represented the change of times in Sweden during this period: the fixed institutions and the awaiting digital flood wave.

The music of Datasal sounds captures the feeling of printing a downloaded picture of your favorite hockey player or music artist or the expectations building up as you wait for the modem to log in to interact with the thousands of users of the internet in 1995. The two tracks on this release manifests the excitement but also the bit of fright you felt connecting to the world in the mid 90’s - a time when the internet still was fun.

The sound is built around repetitive sequencer loops and programmed beats where electric bass, electric guitar and flute improvise around a theme, creating a sound that is best described as cosmic flute house. Datasal is an harmonic reminder of a time where digital progress seemed less harmful than today.

Fausten is a collaboration between Julian Caraz aka Monster-X (Opal Tapes, Murder Channel) and Derek Szeto aka Stormfield (Combat Recordings), and is an exploration into the darker, gorier realms of their collective psyche. Prolific with their solo projects, Fausten is a rare collaborative treat and "Mercenary" is their first joint-release in years; their first appearance on Acroplane where their sound is very much at home. Joining the fray on remix duties is the formidable Fret aka Mick Harris (Scorn//ex-Napalm Death).
The EP opens with a disturbed, pulsating slow march in the guise of "Phosphorus", where pensive, cut-up hip hop vocals punctuate the prowling rhythm and menacing bass. This is followed by "Cathedral", a dark ambient interlude that lingers for a couple of minutes, delivering us to the powerful "Jour de Gloire". Industrial scenes manifest here, culminating around a malevolent bass snarl that is somewhat of a signature for Fausten.
The title track "Mercenary" lurks on the B-side, armed with what seems like a Jan Svankmeier scene in the far future - granular wails of tortured AI beings, gritty textures, and rocked by deep, plunging sub bass, likely to please fans of Scorn and Autechre.
To beef up an already-powerful package, Fausten called upon their longtime hero and musical inspiration Mick Harris for remix duties. Instead of reworking one track, the grindcore maestro asked for the project stems and turned his hand to a surgical reconstruction of the whole EP, condensed into one remix. This is relentless broken techno as you would expect from the Mongoose, alive with clattering percussion and rock-solid elephant-track style kickdrums, building a strong, lively narrative purely from rhythmic architecture, in which breathe his seething, venomous atmospheres.

International Feel founder and guru of the sunset soundtrack, Mark Barrott returns with a new EP entitled Travelling Music. After spending the last few years writing & producing for other people, Mark is focusing his creative efforts inwards & rediscovering his own musical compass, calling it ‘the best medicine and therapy there is’. It’s this energy he looks forward to sharing via a number of releases over the coming months, including a new La Torre compilation, a series of Bandcamp only releases (Bandcamp Editions), the soundtrack to a new Japanese documentary (??) and this new vinyl release, Travelling Music.

He refers to the title track as Balearic trance. Not in the overblown Dutch sense, but trance as a metaphor/mechanism for an altered state, through hypnotic unraveling synth lines and a dash of wonkiness thrown in for good measure . Elsewhere on the EP, Arcade Scene flexes its melodic Italo dance moves with a slight nod to New Order, but a version of the group that’s beamed in from an alternate reality, where The Haçienda was called Il Tesoro and relocated to Ancona via a Gerd Janson DJ set circa 1991.

Chillin’ 4 work channels Aphex Twin from his easy listening Gentle People remix era, with added Sketches from an Island / Ry Cooder-esque guitars and the reprise of Travelling Music already feels like a La Torre sunset classic, bouncing with sequenced polyrhythmic arpeggios, before gently evaporating into a Vangelis-meets-Edgar Froese heat haze.

As with most of his work, Barrott calls this folk music…the telling of stories from everyday life and being Ibizan in origin, there are always a lot of varied & crazy stories to tell, but this chapter in particular feels like a deep burnt therapeutic transmission straight from the heart.

Recordings of The pale faced family on the hill took place over a week in January 2020 in a small church hall on the outskirts of London. A small number of electronic music producers decided to form a collective and make heavy ambient music for raw pleasure in the agreement that their identity be withheld. They invited Oliver Coates as a session musician to contribute live cello drone which they would then add to, process, subtract from and mix with weather recordings and esoteric ways of generating sounds, including old sample packs and whatever else they had to hand. The results were mixed down to tape live without further editing or arrangement. Wishing to work under a cloak of anonymity, the process freed the producers from their other lives and released output, allowing them to enter a new group alias, to induce heady states of sound and to become a group without hierarchies. In a world where harder, faster and more obnoxious is the order of the day Frederic Robinson deals in complex and nuanced music that displays a maturity of thought far beyond the young German’s years. Disciplined and focused, he stretches genres until the restrictions of tempo lose their meaning and the listener is free to simply experience music rather than categorise it. His intensely intricate sound design, instrumentation and arrangement places him closer to contemporary classical composers such as Steve Reich, Terry Riley or Philip Glass than the more typically accepted gurus of dance music. The music itself is beautiful, both subtle and satisfying. Harmonies rush and swoop, collapsing in on each other amid fractured percussion and sparkling melody, simultaneously muscular and fragile. Motifs appear, become warped then reappear in different forms, helping the music to talk about itself while it shifts through distinct movements of light and shade. It is this fearsome and unique skill in execution which has led Frederic Robinson to the ears of tastemakers across the spectrum, from Gilles Peterson to London Elektricity, and seen a flurry of releases on Hospital Records, Brownswood, Bmtm and Med School along with remix work for some of his most promising young contemporaries.

After three years of research and one year of editing finaly this Issue is archiving field recordings from destroyed (Kaputte) Automatic Teller Machines (atm) or Bankomats. The recordings where gathered by Chrisoph S. from 1980 til 2017 in various places around europe. This compilation offers a selection of these recordings of the music of kaputte geldautomaten on disc. Fresh material from the most talented Mr Trago. Locked in during 2020/21, Tom Trago kept himself busy by increasing his daily music-making activities. As he had done pre-pandemic, Trago set aside time each day to improvise and record tracks in the studio attached to his home in Bergen on the Netherlands’ North-West coast. Tide Will Turn, Trago’s third release on the Jong Nederlands label he established to share his work, showcases three such outings. As with previous EPs on Jong Nederlands, each of the tracks was created using a small selection of electronic instruments, drumcomputers and effects units. EP opener ‘Number Own’ is typically emotive and quietly colourful, with chiming lead lines, sustained synthesizer chords, stirring riffs and fluid electronic motifs rising above bustling, body-popping beats and a smooth, jazzy bassline. Bubbly and ear-pleasing, it’s the aural equivalent of watching sunlight bounce off the waves that wash up on the beach just a few hundred metres from Trago’s studio. Title track ‘Tide Will Turn’ is an altogether more relaxed and becalmed affair. Its drowsy chords and gentle, undulating melodies slowly sashay their way between clicking drum machine percussion and slow-motion beats. Trago picks things up again on ‘Understood’, wrapping attractive synth stabs, cascading lead lines and fizzing electronics around a pulsating bassline and breathless, all-action, electro-influenced beats. It provides a fittingly attractive and emotion-rich conclusion to another fine batch of straight-to-tape improvisations.

You might know Barnt as one of the people behind the idiosyncratic imprints Magazine and Schalen, through which he released his most of his EPs and the incomparable 2014 debut album, Magazine 13.; or maybe you know the thread of beautiful, unpredictable club hits he’s woven with labels like Cómeme and Hinge Finger.

Despite living in Cologne, and being friends with the label, Barnt has not put out anything on Kompakt yet, apart from an one-off appearance on Pop Ambient 11 over a decade ago. An EP had been in the air for several years, but it took Barnt a bit of time to get into the right state of mind, because he wanted to make sure the music paid tribute to “the ceremonial, emotional, grand sprit” that he connects with Kompakt.

Typical to the producer’s modus operandi, ProMetal Fan Decor Only Product spins out a surprising narrative, catching the listener unawares, while remaining fundamentally Barnt. After the elegiac opener “Fan”, stately in its melancholic, epic flourish, “You Know What’s Gone” stomps into earshot, the pounding thud of the drums pinning clanging patterns to the dancefloor, a Sturm Und Drang symphony, the tones all clashing metals and silvers.

After that, there’s release – the hypnotic psychedelic reels of “This Is For Decor Only” are Barnt gone trance, a sensual glide of a track that pirouettes out an eternity of sizzling hi-hats and strip light melodies. While you might want to be alone when listeniing to “Fan”, you might have the time of your life dancing to “This Is For Decor Only”, played by your favourite DJ at your favourite festival this Summer.

Born from my meeting with japanese artist Vega Voga, ‘Toyoko No Kuni’ builds a bridge between our two cultures by creating a musical epic sounding like an imaginary, acid-drenched Toshiya Fujita movie. By homaging the 70’s Avant-garde scene and by channelling Akiko Yano and Midori Takada’s music, Tokoyo No Kuni combines a western approach to japanese traditional instruments in which lyrical vocal samples, synth lines, supersonic percussions and razor-sharp guitars drench the country of Chrysanthemums in an unsolved mystery. For his first release with Artificial Dance, Black Merlin aka George Thompson takes a departure from the hard-wearing techno and intricate field recording work that he has come to be known for. Scape One is a fifteen-minute psychedelic diversion recorded in one continuous live session. While the track’s sonic characteristics may echo dance music from the turn of the millennium, its pulsating rhythm is more suggestive of the slowly evolving landscapes seen outside of a train window as opposed to raves from the late ‘90s. Appearing on the B-side is Gordon Pohl’s remix of Scape One. Like its source material, this track is long and subtle in the way it develops over time, but Pohl dissects the most salient elements of the original to construct a new rhythmic urgency. The high frequency accent that guides the remix does so at a speed that recalls the rotations of Brion Gysin’s stroboscopic Dream Machine, which taps into your brain’s alpha waves, aiding drug-free hallucinations. Pohl and Thompson are frequent collaborators and release music together as Karamika. While Scape One is not a collaboration in the strict sense, there is plenty of crossover in the working methodology of the two musicians, especially when it comes to constructing uncomplicated arrangements. The repetitive nature of their respective tracks locks the listener into a contradictory sensation of travelling whilst staying seemingly motionless. This sensation is not altogether uncommon, but in this instance it’s not quotidian either. The result is a record that unravels slowly, leaving space for the listener to home in on all the available information and, in the process, discover elements that can be just as unnerving as they are satisfying.

Since 2016, Milkman has been a pioneer in India’s ever-evolving electronic music scene. From building the foundations of India’s warehouse-rave culture, to consistently curating international and local artists at the forefront of the electronic musical underground, Milkman has quickly become a formidable force. Both editions of its festival, ‘Terminal 1’ were highly well-received, and this year, Milkman brings its first ever release as a label to the world. Azu Hoyvoy’s music feels like it has a toehold in the world of left-field dance-floors, while also being comfortable in any post-apocalyptic sensorium you can dream up. This peculiar trait should not come as a surprise. The chaos, darkness, and simultaneous beauty of the city from which he hails all make for a hard cocktail of deep-uplifting-frightening-introspective fervor, spilling appropriately into this record. The twenty-three-year-old Mumbai-native’s previous music is largely dominated by RnB and Soul, and in some ways feels like the proverbial Jekyll to Future Literature’s Mr. Hyde. To the extent that Azu’s previous incarnation still resides in his darker counterpart, it shows in Future Literature’s multi-faceted grooves and syncopations that are relatively unique in this spectrum of electronic music. This collection of tunes finds a very suitable corner in the eclectic and forward-thinking home of Milkman, and the result is an enjoyably mind-expanding, if sometimes disconcerting record.

A decade after releasing their debut EP through Planet Mu's Timesig imprint, Speed Dealer Momsâ€”a collaborative electronic music project with a fluid line-up commonly made up of Aaron Funk, John Frusciante and Chris McDonaldâ€”are set to make their long-awaited return this summer with a new offering entitled Sdm-la8-441-114-211. The 3-track EP, arriving June 11 through Evar Records, offers a glimpse into the treasure trove of Speed Dealer Moms' unreleased material, with each song title alluding to the date in which it was recorded and in how many takes.

Over the years, Speed Dealer Moms have considered various ideas on how to release more of their unorthodox recordings in unconventional ways, with their latest to arrive in the format of a limited edition vinyl pressing. Although a lot has changed since first sharing their intricate creations with the world in 2010, Speed Dealer Moms have routinely gotten together whenever schedules and circumstances allowed, picking up wherever they last left off creatively and adding to their growing archive of recordings. While there are plenty of reminders that time is both irrelevant and an illusionâ€”especially in the fickle music business where trends are fleetingâ€”the chemistry these collaborators exhibit in the studio has no expiration date, offering a purity in approach that reflects the cherished importance of creating in the moment and subsequently celebrating timeless music.

During the writing process, which includes in-depth discussions and days of programming, Speed Dealer Moms record live to stereo with no overdubs or edits, improvising arrangements that often feel composed. In the same spirit of prodigal IDM acts such as Autechre and Luke Vibert, each Speed Dealer Moms session pushes the limits of what an arsenal of modular synthesizers and other machines are capable of, creating tracks that are driven by mathematics, mechanical understanding and musical spontaneity alike. As exemplified by their forthcoming Evar release, each recorded session captures an undeniable magic that is both distinctive and hard to describe, creating a listening experience that transcends genre lines and sonic boundaries.

Last autumn the long-awaited debut “Colour” by Pete Josef saw its release on Sonar Kollektiv. Now the first 12inch with four fantastic remixes arrives (the digital release comes even with six of them).

The remix by British duo LV for “Hope” is the perfect kick-off and whets one's appetite for more. Their sensuous rework accommodates Josef's voice immaculately and lets the bassline vibrate as gracefully as a treetop in the vernal wind.

Appropriately another duo, this one from Montreal, delivers an ultra smooth remix for “Spring At Last”: The Black 80's fortify herewith their claim to be the next hot shit. Also a name to watch out for over the next few months is the one by Fabian Dikoff. Everything he learned by his mentor Andre Lodemann is translated in his work into an incredible, chameleonic vision of house music. To be heard on his remix for “Colour” and its dub version.

Another remix for “Colour” comes all the way out of the prosperous Vancouver scene by the Potatohead People. The “Lights Off” as well as the “Lights On” remix are both gentle RnB with the emphasis on the snare and on the lovey-dovey synth melody. All in all, exactly the sort of remixes not only Pete Josef was wishing for, but also we as the listeners, to tune into this summer's groove.

The Franco-Russian Duo Doubtingthomas & Wyro is teaming up with the infamous Berlin-based Subtil Records. For their 21st release, the label presents a very special EP mixing stratospheric sound design, insane monitoring pressure, and uprights motions composed in the most elegant ways by these two talented producers. On side A “Zerno” will get you projected into the depths of the cosmos with swirling pads and woolen melodies that are nicely layered over grinds and grooves to find the perfect soft but yet powerful drive. “Bloom” on the B side is a mad science experiment with its flawless synth riffs, sophisticated chord arrangements, and uplifting movements, this track is a true soul explorer. To round up the EP on a very sophisticated note the ambient track “Prilivi” on B2 proves the proper musical skills of these guys among the usual cookie-cutter techno.

Entitled "eoseubnida", this record is the result of all the contradictory passions the Grenoble based producer is crossed by. His bad boy tastes for dark, harsh and noisy stuff coexist in harmony with his emo soul interested in flowers, love and birds. In 5 tracks xl.iks expresses this inner duality : tortured beats are enlightened by mellow synths, outdated video games references are bundled up in HD sound design and the whole piece describes the thin line between reality and virtual world. xl.iks definitely belongs to our hypermodern era except the fact that, facing our uncertain future, he prefers to unsheathe the final fantasy sword of poetry rather than the cyberpunk cynism.

The new V.A. on Misbits Recordings, suitably titled "Eternal Poet," is the label's second excursion through the sound-art and experimental ambient realms. Familiar guests Boris Hagenbart and David Moss return for another otherworldly sonic transmission of visceral, syncopated samples, followed by Japanese duo Ohanami in an emotionally charged post-jazz exercise drenched in peaceful nostalgia. The flip-side features ten locked-grooves signed by Ohanami, Shoen, Shcaa, Smooth Operators, and REV, capturing diverse musical moments with transformative potential. "Eternal Poet" further expands the vision that ambient music can be a mode of transport rather than a simple backdrop — a sophisticated world of endless possibilities.
