Following the reissue of the V-Neck EP Auto, Emote have sprung back to life with some lost DAT recordings of the band from the late 1990s. These semi live recordings made at the Spike Studios in Fulham where a back to basics project and a deliberate move away, from computer programmed music. The project was heavily influenced by the albums Drastic Season by African Head Charge and Get Up With It by Miles Davis. The tracks contain an array of random procession instruments ranging from African pianos to kitchen utensils, vintage synth tones and drones are provided by an Arp Odyssey and a Korg Ms-20 The tracks where then recorded on to a 8 track real to real Akai X-1810d By the time the delayed Dub Fiction album came out in 2000 the duo had decided to go their separate ways and the project was abandoned. London’s Luna Monk steps up to bat for Silver Lake and delivers two cuts of beatless, otherworldly ambience spanning a total of just over 26 irresistible minutes. An EP of two sides; of sunshine and rain, this is an exploration of light and dark, and all the areas in between. On the A side ‘Sun Kiss’ breathes and pulsates like a sunrise in slow motion; solar flares slowing burning away the morning mist of a melancholy dawn. A product of London, over its evolving duration it nonetheless bares more than a passing nod to the land of the rising sun. Over on the B, ‘Sun Setting Blues’ changes tact and provides the perfect juxtaposition. This is submersive and aquatic, fractured static noise broadcast to the never ending universe whilst rain streaks down the outside of the window. Eventually celestial voices break through the abyss and drag us back from the void. Truly immersive work; without doubt salvaged from the bottom of a distant alien ocean.

Sam Kerridge launches a major rethink of his style with the high-velocity tempos and razor-toothed bite of The Silence Between Us.Toiling somewhere between Ueno Masaaki’s Vortices for Raster-Noton, the pitching pelt of La Peste for Hangars Liquides, and the machine convulsions of Somatic Responses, he goes balls-to-the-wall with the breakneck momentum of Possession/Control, harnessing reverse-edited kicks, helter-skelter EBM bass and spectrographic noise ghouls in a surge of searing rave energy.Flipside, those knotty, strobing pulses keen thru empty stomach inversions and bursts of tangled EBM synths on Ascension, which is effectively a snappier edit of the A-side, whilst Radical Possibilities of Pleasure sounds like a field recording from a french hardtek invaded by dildo dibble in choppers and riot gear railing lasers against any unlucky dancers.

Excavated from a now lost cassette, ‘CRG77’ is a series of improvisations conceived of little sleep and minimal natural light. Perhaps best described as the sonic equivalent of a strong indica, contorted dance music under the influence of a forty year old echo pedal. Hidden Village is a new London based label with no agenda and no direction. Created by R.ess 048, a pseudonym for members of a well known South London crew who wish to remain nameless and were behind one of last year's most forward thinking underground releases. 'CRG77' is an after hours excursion into the deepest depths of the weed-box. Comes with ultra-Lo-Fi A4 b&w insert designed by one of the crew. Punk as fuck. Mining the same dusted plains as fellow travellers SVN, Madteo, Sex Tags, Regelbau etc etc
