Excavated from a now lost cassette, ‘CRG77’ is a series of improvisations conceived of little sleep and minimal natural light. Perhaps best described as the sonic equivalent of a strong indica, contorted dance music under the influence of a forty year old echo pedal. Hidden Village is a new London based label with no agenda and no direction. Created by R.ess 048, a pseudonym for members of a well known South London crew who wish to remain nameless and were behind one of last year's most forward thinking underground releases. 'CRG77' is an after hours excursion into the deepest depths of the weed-box. Comes with ultra-Lo-Fi A4 b&w insert designed by one of the crew. Punk as fuck. Mining the same dusted plains as fellow travellers SVN, Madteo, Sex Tags, Regelbau etc etc

re:discovery records is proud to release for the first time, a vinyl edition of 'Two Zeroes' by Grain for it's 25th anniversary.

Grain was a west coast project that emerged out of the psychedelic music and art scenes in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. After a few of their tracks were featured on the key chill out compilations United State of Ambience 1&2 and Excursions in Ambience and many local live performances, they released two ep's on local labels. Shortly after in 1998, 'Two Zeroes' the full length project appeared. A west coast chill out classic that unfortunately did not get much disribution outside the west coast let alone to the world.

To classify this album is very hard. Think early Jammin Unit with a touch of the Orb and dash of west coast breakbeat and chill out styles and you still can't fully pin it down. A unique album that sonically, was leaps and bounds ahead of most albums in this style thanks to sound designer, audio instalation architect, scientist and artist Jimmy Johnson along with illustrator and fellow sonic artist Peter Ehrlich. Featured on double vinyl with updated artwork by the original designer, Kevin Hanley and presented on beautiful gatefold with a shimmering silver vinyl to match. This could be one of the discoveries of the year for those that have never heard this album. Dare to Dream with us.

London’s Luna Monk steps up to bat for Silver Lake and delivers two cuts of beatless, otherworldly ambience spanning a total of just over 26 irresistible minutes. An EP of two sides; of sunshine and rain, this is an exploration of light and dark, and all the areas in between. On the A side ‘Sun Kiss’ breathes and pulsates like a sunrise in slow motion; solar flares slowing burning away the morning mist of a melancholy dawn. A product of London, over its evolving duration it nonetheless bares more than a passing nod to the land of the rising sun. Over on the B, ‘Sun Setting Blues’ changes tact and provides the perfect juxtaposition. This is submersive and aquatic, fractured static noise broadcast to the never ending universe whilst rain streaks down the outside of the window. Eventually celestial voices break through the abyss and drag us back from the void. Truly immersive work; without doubt salvaged from the bottom of a distant alien ocean.

DFA takes two artists who released different sorts of summer psychedelia in 2013 and pairs them with two fantastic new remixers / producers who have both done work for L.I.E.S.—Anthony Naples (whose personal obsession with Black Dice made him an obvious candidate for the job) and Bookworms (who Larry Gus watched play live at Output this year, mouth agape).

Naples takes “Bobby Strong” and ends up with what is essentially “Cone Toaster Pt. 2,” which is just what you wanted. Bookworms shreds “The Night Patrols” before building something dark and loud, sheets of sound layered on top of relentless sub sounds. A real surprise, this unique marriage of artists and remixers is limited to a hand-stamped and numbered edition of 500 blue-label copies with custom spine labels and download codes.
