This time, Atlantic Records and Brookside team up and have Mike tackling two classic tracks by The Trammps: “Hooked For Life” & “Soul Searching’ Time”. “Hooked For Life” was released on Atlantic’s “Exclusive Disco Series” of promo only 12”s in the U.S. back in 1975 and “Soul Searchin’ Time” was also released as a promo only 12” in the U.K. on WEA’s ultra rare “Disco Special Cut” series. Both tracks get the “Maurro Remix” treatment with extended intro’s, instrumental passes and breakdowns, and finally mastered in Philadelphia by Mike Tarsia of the world famous Sigma Sound Studios. Back in 2009 My Rules label owner Justin Van Der Volgen released a mix cd done completely with his own edits titled Try To Find Me Vol 2. The mix was received incredibly well and had fans scrambling for years to try and spot the track list. It earned a 4.5 review on Resident Advisor, and had a certain rather known and respected DJ opening their sets with it.

My Rules records is back with their first release of 2019 - the highly sought after cosmic disco bomb Movin' by Belgian group Candy Darling & The Viscounts.

On the B-side, Nick The Record teams up with Idjut Boys’ Dan Tyler to take on “Hafi Deo” - a beautiful taste of breezy tropical Congolese pop from Tabu Ley Rochereau.

This latest limited 7" from Mr. K features two incomparable baroque soul masterworks, one from a Chicago-based band that defied categorization and the other a deep cut from a living legend songwriter and performer.

The psychedelic soul of Rotary Connection’s “I Am the Black Gold of the Sun” still sounds revolutionary and unlike anything else, a full fifty years after it was originally released in 1971. Swathed in ethereal ripples of strings (courtesy the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) innovatively arranged by unsung genius Charles Stepney, and rooted in a rock solid foundation provided by the cream of Chicago’s cutting edge session musicians (among them guitarist Phil Upchurch and drummer Morris Jennings, veterans of countless soul jazz cuts), “Black Gold” sits in uncharted territory somewhere between soul, rock, jazz and classical chamber music. It’s a gorgeous territory, a fantasy land where Minnie Riperton and Sidney Barnes’s vocals transmit mystical, uplifting vibes, the entire affair anchored throughout by an addictive piano riff—a mixture that proved irresistible to Masters at Work, who covered it for their Nuyorican Soul project in 1997. Mr. K’s edit doesn’t try to force anything fancy on this masterpiece, simply tightening it up and taking advantage of the lush remastering to present this progressive classic on 45 for the first time.

In keeping with the orchestral soul mood, Mr. K turns to Stevie Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise” for the flip. Whereas “Black Gold” paints a portrait of a magical land, Stevie’s lyrics on “Pastime Paradise,” originally issued in 1976, are a penetrating look at the very earthbound concerns of modern society and its follies, an urgent message to look ahead rather than languish in dreams of the past. The sensitive string accompaniment provides just the right amount of gravitas and emphasis to Stevie’s voice without overwhelming it, while the hare krishna-inspired tambourine keeps the rhythm effectively. Mr. K’s edit again keeps things true to the original, simply providing a subtle intro that uses the tambourine rhythm to lead into the body of the song.

The first in a new collaborative series between Theo Parrish & Prime Direct Distribution unearthing some of Theo’s most sought-after edits, backed with the fully licensed original, both remastered and cut loud on either side of a 12 inch. Kicking things off we have one of Theo’s most treasured cuts, his ‘Ugly Edit’ of Made In USA - Never Gonna Let You Go, bootlegged endlessly in the past and racking up prices of up to £144 on Discogs it’s a high time an official reissue came around.
As iconic an edit as they get, ‘Never Gonna Let You Go’ encompasses everything great about Theo’s energy behind the decks - extending grooves for longer than anyone else even dare, working the EQ’s like a god and throwing in a bit of that raw magic that only he knows how. Taking the original’s sumptuous breakdown, Theo works it into a spirited, high energy disco workout looped into a near 10-minute stomper, big on the bass and brass fire whilst leaving the vocals at the door.
On the B side the original ’77 Made In USA version is laid out in all it’s glory. Funk powered, horn-laden disco goodness with breath-taking vocals from the Stateside troupe.

Siedah Garrett's seminal 1985 classic 'Do You Want It Right Now' receives 3 new incredible remixes from Dr Packer, BluePrint and Jolyon Petch. Dr Packer delivers a truly funk-worthy re-work injecting a barrage of the smoothest soul-laced sonics for an early 90s house meets nu disco cut. Jolyon Petch ramps up the funk with infectious guitar licks and groove-laden bass for his 'Elektrik Disko Mix’.

This brand-new exhibition follows in the prestigious footsteps of its predecessors, two jaw-droppingly stunning works of art on display, re-touched, re-loved and ready to be snapped up by the highest bidder. One side sees the mysterious mastermind take on some tropical boogie heat via ‘Hello You Yeah’ with the flip a cosmic disco warper in the form of ‘Just Be Yourself’. Two irresistible cuts that will be whipping crowds into a frenzy the world over.

The latest from Mr. K and Most Excellent Unlimited pairs lowdown and stomping disco from an unlikely source with a funked-out floorfiller from some very familiar voices. Minnie Riperton’s 1977 single “Stick Together” was an outlier in her catalog of smooth modern soul, an intentional nod in the direction of the prevailing disco sound. Co-written with Stevie Wonder, “Stick Together” in its original single release was divided into two parts, the first a fairly conventional uptempo cut with all the catchy qualities you’d expect from Stevie and the husband and wife team of Richard Rudolph and Minnie. It was the second half of the song that caught the ears of DJs who played for funkier dancefloors, however. Freddie Perren, a former member of Motown’s legendary Corporation collective of songwriters and producers, and a man then red-hot off his success with Tavares’ “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel” and the Sylvers’ “Boogie Fever,” was on production duties, and the song clearly benefits from his disco-friendly touch. In Mr. K’s epic edit we are treated to a lengthy exploration of the second part of “Stick Together,” featuring keyboardist Sonny Burke (veteran of Marvin Gaye’s band and fresh from playing on Candi Staton’s disco smash “Young Hearts Run Free”) working out an irresistible Jingo-esque piano part, Riperton’s sensual ad-libs, and, as if that wasn’t enough, a cameo appearance by Pam Grier on finger snaps! Krivit’s 8-minute-plus edit passes way too quickly to get enough of the hypnotic groove — rewinds are called for! Our flip side, “Body Language,” originated as an album cut on the Jackson Five’s last album of original material for Motown, Moving Violation, recorded before Jermaine left to go solo and the remaining brothers joined Epic Records in a new incarnation as the Jacksons. For such an obvious heater it’s puzzling why the label never released it as a single; but regardless of that apparent misstep, “Body Language” has long been a sure shot in many DJs’ bags. With his new edit, Mr. K presents the track in its ultimate form, loud, remastered, stretched out and rippling with energy over a full six minutes. With an iconic bass line that just doesn’t quit, and Michael and the boys in fine form, it’s impossible to imagine a situation where this wouldn’t set the room on fire.

The return of the mighty Lntg. A double dose of those trademark edits, reloved, reworked and remoulded into two extended and exhilarating mixes in true Lntg style. A must have, as always.

Filling up the A-side is KETTLE AMERICA, a cheeky bit of south-of-the border uptempo disco funk. I KNEAD YOU is a stomping and sermonizing version of a cherished classic, completely redone with a chorus of handclaps and gospel piano, and the record finishes with WITHOUT ROB for some re-touched dancefloor doo-wop gold!

Detroit native Blair French joins the RNT fam with a 4-tracker of burning summer edit heat! From the Brazilian boogie burner 'Cut The Crust', to the cruisy camp of 'Surrender', the 'welcoming' uptempo instrumental disco vibes of 'All Is Welcome', to the explosive and percussive 'Excuse Me', this record is a peak-time party from beginning to end.

The new batch from the bottomless edit archives of Danny Krivit is an uptempo, guitar-heavy excursion into two cuts of danceable rock from opposite sides of a decade.

“Marbles” originally came out late in 1970, the result of a collaboration between the fiery British guitarist John McLaughlin and drummer Buddy Miles. Miles was hot off his time with Jimi Hendrix, and producer Alan Douglas, who’d been instrumental in putting together the Band of Gypsys group, attempted another crossover combination with a brand new, blazing guitar god. Also on the date was Larry Young, an organ player best known for his expansive jazzy albums on Blue Note, and several veterans of Buddy Miles’ funk-rock combos. The resulting mixture produced in “Marbles” a powerful, driving rhythm anchoring an addictive riff that steamrolls through the cut in a fashion not unlike the motorik sound of Velvet Underground or Can. Mr. K’s edit leans heavily on the drums, naturally, with a long, tailor-made intro and a mesmerizing focus on the main riff, extending things well past the seven-minute mark.

Ten years later, the world of music was in an entirely different place but a good guitar riff coupled with a driving beat was still powerful currency on the dancefloor. This time, the group was Scottish new wave-punk group APB, whose single “Shoot You Down” had garnered unexpected peak time play in cutting edge NYC hotspots Danceteria, the Peppermint Lounge, the Ritz and the Mudd Club. “Shoot You Down” combines the urgency of the Clash with the free for all vibe that characterized the downtown scene (and throws in a chant borrowed from P-Funk for good measure). Mr. K has created a long instrumental opening that leads into the vocals, giving the tightly-wound 7-inch single a proper extended 12-inch treatment it deserved but never had before.

The sound is crisply remastered for club play, and stretched over the breadth of a 12-inch single. Both of these tracks are appearing on the long-format player for the first time.

Scouring the globe for the freshest cuts Volume 22 is another multinational affair combining the skills of Colombian duo Vagabundo Club Social, Mexico’s Monsieur Van Pratt, Italy’s Infradisco and New York’s Roland & Brother Rich. Opening affairs are the hugely exciting duo Vagabundo Club Social with their track ‘Costero’. They are producers who nimbly fuse dusty Latin grooves with cutting edge production techniques and dancefloor know-how and here have delivered yet another feel good dancefloor smash. ‘Costero’ is quite simply a DJ’s dream track which will do the business at any end of the set whether you need to get the crowd on the floor or tear the proverbial roof off. Mexico is currently at the leading tip of the disco charge and Monsieur Van Pratt is one of the stand-out producers from a country bursting with talent. ‘Jazz Player’ pulls absolutely no punches combining jazz cool with disco know-how for a track which wins on all counts. Sublime brass solos sit atop a huge funky gem of a bassline. ‘Jazz Player’ will tear dance-floors up worldwide as the world starts to rediscover its long since packed away dancing shoes. Italy’s Infradisco is up next with ‘Aungasana’ and it’s the perfect track to follow on combining many of the traits that both Vagabundo Social Club and Monsieur Van Pratt utilised on their tracks. Expect huge jazzy horns, funky bass and tribal vocals building up to a monstrous organ groove which raises proceedings to fever pitch. Infectious and energetic, it’s another seriously classy dancefloor moment. Closing out the EP are New Yorkers Roland & Brother Rich with the exquisitely titled ‘Roger Moore’s Living Room’. Paying homage to the James Bond legend it’s the ideal track to sip brandy and toast the characters of yesteryear in that velvet smoking jacket you have always wanted. Deep and Jazzy with the essence of the 70s flowing through it’s DNA ‘Roger Moore’s Living Room’ is a track so effortlessly cool that even Blofeld would be throwing some shapes. Tropical Disco Records Volume 21 is a 12” packed with warmth and musical depth featuring four timeless dance-floor moments. The EP opens with a huge slice of organic jazzy US influenced garage in the shape of ‘Nothing Is The Same’ by the superbly talented Dominic Balchan. He’s a new name who has been making big waves recently. If you caught Domenic’s recent offering on TDR LTD 002 ‘A Touch of Jazz’ you will know what to expect. ‘Nothing Is The Same’ has a wonderfully classic feel which recalls the early days of the legendary Soulfuric imprint. A huge bassline is front and centre here providing the drive. It’s backed up by powerhouse keys and some wonderfully hooky vocals. Add in guitar licks and huge trumpet solos and this is one of the finest cuts you are likely to catch this year. Domenic is a talent to keep a close eye on that’s for sure. Next up is Da Lukas, a highly rated producer hailing from Italy, a country which is currently serving up some of the finest disco and house out there right now. ‘Get Disco Vibes’ keeps the energy levels sky high. Featuring another unstoppable bassline it’s packed with brass stabs aplenty which will cause all sorts of dancefloor mischief. Laser synths, loopy vocals and club ready drums complete a track which has floor filler written all over it. Co label head Moodena is up next keeping his golden 2021 run flowing nicely with the laid back groove of ‘Who Got The Key’s’. This one is a DJ’s dream with its effervescent keys, bubbling bass and 80’s synth stabs. It’s a track which has more than a touch of jazz running through its DNA creating a powerful and enticing sound. Expect this one to be a summer soundtrack at all the right parties. Closing the EP out is Welsh producer Toby O'Connor. While Toby is another relatively new name on the scene he’s clearly a producer on a mission with a string of excellent releases landing over the last 12 months which have picked up some serious DJ support. ‘Low & Slow’ is every bit a Balearic gem with its wah guitars, hypnotic bassline and dreamy sax licks. It’s a track with 90’s jazz funk fusion running through its veins and is perfectly placed as the more organic edges of the genre come flooding back to entertain a whole now generation. Tropical Disco Volume 21 takes you on a wonderful musical journey fusing classic US garage vibes with warm jazzy disco touches and plenty of sun soaked groove. It’s everything that club music needs to be right now as we head back to the dancefloor and look to renew and reaffirm our scene. Expect a colourful explosion of musical warmth which sees no boundaries as it unites sounds and scenes from across the musical globe.

It is safe to say, the Gallery’s exhibitions have become a date in the calendar you do not want to miss. Not dropping the brush on this one, their third private view is their biggest to date. Two outstanding displays of artistry and retouching skill shrouded in mystery to this very day. A private collector however, who just so happens to moonlight as every DJs favourite DJ, did manage to acquire both pieces a while back and has been letting all hell break loose on the dancefloor with them ever since. Many have clamoured to get their hands on these works, few have succeeded. Now the Gallery has them up for auction, but be quick, they won’t be around forever.

Brazilian DJ and producer Rafael Cancian delivers a veritable United Nations of diverse international disco flavor for his first outing on Razor-N-Tape.
The A side delivers cheeky horns and gyrating synths with Ç'est La Douceur, followed by a flurry of string stabs and vocal fourishes with theI Italo-tinged Fascino Di Milano. On the flip we get a taste of Rafa’s native Brasilian boogie with the stomping Frágil, and the EP winds down with the sensual slow groover Besos Libres.
This is a 4-tracker of serious heat representing all four romance languages…perfect for romancing, and dancing!

Tropical Disco Records return with another sizzling four-tracker, tackling deeper, more soulfully sustained tracks which still cipher the same party-centric impact consistent across every release.
Moodeena’s ‘The Chase’ is a fireball of an opener, showcasing a tantalizing flurry of teasing brass and uninhibited guitar strokes, cooly climaxing, sending shocks of piloerections to every corner of your body.
Next up label co-founder Sartorial on a slightly slowed, yet typical love flex with ‘Addicted To You’. It oozes high romantic interfusings of heady beats and a fantastically reinvented vocal. It’s an ode to that golden moment in mood music paired with midsummer sun, certainly one of his best works to date.
Tropical Disco debutant Chevals offers up a delectable deep house symphony with ‘Saturn’, a lush suite of hazy chords, boogie vamps and shuffling percussion.
Gledd & The Funk District’s ‘Late At Midnight’ closes of the record in fine style, looped swells and vintage stabs, laying a dexterous foundation for the full-frontal, fanatical vocal to follow. It appears the label are showing off using this tyrannic tool as the EPs send off, making you nostalgic about a night never experienced and stomping another firm footprint in contemporary disco’s orbit.

Tropical Disco have made a remarkable impression on contemporary disco, earning global notoriety with infectious edits and a distinctive, far-reaching sound that’s caught the ear of heavyweight selectors including Marshall Jefferson and Soul Clap. Their output hasn’t gone unnoticed: with Volume 7 hitting number 1 in sales at Deejay and two digital releases this year reaching Traxsource number one slot, and a string of consistently successful 2018 releases continuing to receive substantial airplay, 2019 is Tropical Disco’s year.
Sartorial quickly generates an inexorable momentum with ‘Key Me Up’, a propulsive cut based around a highly infectious piano riff, offset by swirling synthesizers. Moodena swiftly follows with ‘Dumplings Over Flowers’, a fluid exhibition of studio mastery that’s driven by a gnarly bass guitar part, quickly joined by classy keys and epic saxophone. Each element blended with a glittering synergy, Moodena puts forward the most organic and effortless track on the record.
‘Vamos Baby’, from Mexican producer and label newcomer Sould Out, is a more than worthy addition to the Tropical Disco catalogue. An unruly bassline underpins a futuristic disco sound that arouses hedonistic sentiments, with the slick addition of classy vocal chops (“come on, baby!”) sealing the deal. Peak-time at Barbarella’s, this would absolutely boot – enough said! Label heads Moodena and Sartorial team up for ‘Come Get It’, a certified DJ tool that’s anything but simple. Whispering vocals, flashy piano and a frenzied bassline make for a cerebral mix of tender-loving filth and swish sign off to the EP.

Marcel Vogel aka Em Yee joins the RNT roster with a 4-pack of unsurprisingly heavy edits. The Lumberjacks In Hell label boss takes us on a little trip through one of his own eclectic sets, starting with the oddball boogie of You Move Me and then moving on to the hands-in-the-air positivity of Spreading Energy.
On the flip it’s the up-tempo afro burner 'Don’t Be Sabi Say', with the 12” concluding on the whimsically catchy 'I Wish I Knew The Words'. Tried and tested and found true!

Side A. Reuban Wilson "We're are in love" sample flip sets the tone for Nas Memory Lane (Sittin' in Da Park) sampled and chopped by 1 only. DJ Premier sampled multiple elements from Wilson’s original composition, including the organ, percussion and distinctive wordless backing vocals. The seldom-sampled track is now irrevocably tied to this classic East Coast jam. Galaxy crew decided to give it a Re mastered rinse, chop up the intro break to back to life for 45 fans to appreciate.

Disco king, Mr. K, drops the fifth edition of his super sought-after and limited edit series. Another double dose of pure disco elation, retouched, tweaked and extended in all the right places, cut loud and proud on either side of a 12 inch.

Round three of the hotly tipped, Moxy Edits limited series. This one is a bass heavy jackin ‘90s hip hop inspired house groover. Think Sneak, Derrick Carter vibes. One side is on a west coast infused vocal tip, with the other straight dubbin, pure clubbing. Perfect combination, check it.

BEATCONDUCTOR reworks this Balearic Yugotrack with a sublime guitar hook. Gorgeous Yugoslavian jazz for the crate diggers and late night deejay sets on Ibiza! Hand stamped 1-sided 12". Limited. Nu-disco/Balearic fans don't sleep on this one.

Felipe Gordon dives deep into the Local Talk vault and selected his favourite tracks for a proper rework. First up we got two stalwarts of the house scene, Kyodai and Fish Go Deep. Kyodai's 'Breaking' needs little introduction, the track is an anthem and got massive support from Kerri Chandler to Laurent Garnier and is still played to this day in clubs. Felipe puts his spin on the track, a Latin Jazz Rework that is destined to become a classic in its own right. Fish Go Deep made their debut on Local Talk with 'Off Script' back in 2016, it's a pure goosebumps track, dubby techno-soul at its finest. Felipe adds his twist with plenty of swing and clever drum programming.

'Never Gonna Dance Again?' is a hopeful look to a post pandemic world, blending a well known blue eyed soul vocal with a bassline straight from Paradise. 'Black Curtains' is a deep cut cover of an AOR classic, while 'Black Magic Reaper' is a gloriously slow, psych disco haze. 'We’re All Gonna...' loops a sleazy French jazz disco B side with a vocal sample from a Purple guest.
