Irish label Fatty Fatty spreads its wings with their 'International Disco Mafia' EP.
Extending from Dublin out to Drogheda and Galway and onward overseas, the EP provides something peak-time for all tastes.
The lead off track sees label top dog Pablo going off on a solo tip, delivering an end of nighter take on an eternal UK street Soul classic. Chopping together many different mixes to create an epic whole, this one has been road-tested thoroughly, and always brings the house down.

While Pablo was fiddling around endlessly with that one, usual production partner Shoey slithered off with newcomer Kellser to produce a dreamy, stretched out take on a late 70's staple , another guaranteed winner, and possibly the most bliss inducing song ever to run at 130BPM

The international part of the EP comes from Italian edit king Belabouche, who delivers a lovely take on 'Willie and The Hand Jive'.
Last but not least, Galway boy Island Time makes his bow with a straight up, brassy slice of soulful Disco aimed straight at the dancefloor...

Two more unreleased edits emerge from Mark E's Merc label E-Versions series. Magazine turns a classic Madge moment into an expertly extended, peak-time banger - cleverly weaving an altogether more psychedelic workout from those familiar ingredients. Release wise Jamie 3:26 is one of those guys that doesn't have many releases but when he does put something out it's pure gold! His less is more approach seems to be working with several of his releases now going for decent money on Discogs.

MERC is very proud to welcome Mark Seven as guest editor on E-Versions 7.

It took a long time, a lot of telephone conversations, a lot of pleading, digging, sweat and tears to simply find out what TONY'S SLICE was after hearing it on Mark's Parkway Mastermix.
Turns out its MKVIIs attempt at recreating a live mix by Tony Humphries he heard on Kiss cutting 2 copies of the phone conversation back and forward forever.
With EV#7 looming we knew this would be a perfect opportunity to have a guest on the series, so we persisted and broke him down and he finally gave in to the pressure.

In addition to TONYS SLICE, MKVII has turned in a superb acid work out in the form of CASE STUDY 9.

New Zealand based crate digger Frank Booker invites good friend Julien Dyne to drop the second release on his new imprint Down In the Basement.
JD picks up where The Man Called Booker left off on Vol 1 and gets straight up to speed cutting up rare boogie, disco and Afro jams and employing his trademark raw cuts in an old school style, while lacing oodles of FX 'n stuff into the mix.

The overall sound is reminiscent of the early Idjut Boys material, which is so close to Mr Booker's heart.

Two unreleased edits emerge from Mark E's Merc label starting the E-version series. Kahn turns a classic disco track into an expertly extended, peak-time puncher adding percussion and persistent loops. While Mingo stretches a drum laden ethnicity around its Techno foundations. Already being played by Gilles Peterson, Daniel Avery & Dixon!

Another summer, another Back To Bahia from the one and only John Beltran! For Volume 3 Beltran flexes his Afro-Brazilian Deep House chops for this brilliant 7”. “Lsaura” kicks off the release on a jazzy boogie tip reminiscent of the Minneapolis funk sound or Ron Trent’s Warm, perfect for discerning dance floors. The first in the Little Beat Different Issues series, which came from ORM, gets an overhaul thanks to Ashley Beedle under his Africanz on Marz moniker, Regular Customer, Jonny Rock and Tasun. Little Beat Different Issues is a new series focused on reissuing music from Eastern European region previously unavailable on Western markets. Their first release was a compilation by project ORM, the moniker of Czech producer team Petr and Pavel ORM, originally formed as a disco group in the late 1970s and the pioneers of electronic dance music in former Czechoslovakia. It only makes perfect sense for old school to meet new school and for ORM to have their original tracks reimagined by our selection of current producers. Here's the 4 tasty edits that will see the light of the day soon on the slab of wax.

The two tracker arose after Sadar Bahar discovered Ben's Utrecht based studio (housing 60 synths!). Electro fiend Ben was charmed by the electronic elements in Sadar's funk and Sadar loved Ben's ideas. Nuff said, a new NL based project was born. Nothing sampled for these tracks... only stabbing guitar, bass, sax and pounding drum programming for dance floor heat!!

Like a phoenix, Montreal’s disco godfather, Robert Ouimet is back with the same vim and vigor as when was tapped by Gino Soccio for album consulting or when he remixed Francine McGee’s delirium in 1977. But, here he presents 4 songs from his deep archive, edited to ‘hands-up’ glory for today’s audience.

Mr. K goes Gospel on the latest seven from Most Excellent Unlimited’s series of collaborations with the master editor. As is often the case, both of these edits are appearing on vinyl, and on 45, for the first time, with all the hallmarks of MEU’s commitment to quality.

A massive favorite with audiences who’ve attended Danny Krivit’s sets around the world, his “Churchapella” edit of Madonna's “Like A Prayer" is finally on wax. One of the singer’s greatest tracks, it has always fascinated with its combination of the sacred and the profane, leaving it up to the listener whether she is referring to a secular or holy love. In Krivit’s hands, focused largely on the undeniably massive sound of the Andre Crouch Choir, the divine nature of the lyrics shine through. Uplifting, moving, even transcendent when presented at the right moments, it’s both an inspiring piece of music and a seriously powerful DJ tool.

“Like A Prayer” is paired on the flip side with a fantastic edit of the Clark Sisters funky, slinky rare groove classic “Ha-Ya (Eternal Life).” Never officially released on 7-inch before, Krivit has taken the loose original recording and given it a steady pulse not by adding post-production elements, but via his experienced hand at building a musical movement that audiences will respond to. A slight tempo change, a bit of careful repetition, and at last connoisseurs of the smaller format vinyl have a definitive version of this powerful song.

Side A is a finely tuned, lovingly fondled version of David Christie's LP cut 'Back Fire' from 1978. A sleazy, almost Euro feeling good timer that does the biz. On the flip, is the Destroyers mammoth 'Lectric Love', another lowdown cruiser of a track, nice cosmic FX and leather vibes for the late night prowl! Both edits are brilliantly done, and with a knowing and respectful nod too, one for the heads right here.

West End records open the vaults once more to today's top editors and remixers. This incredible 12" sees the mighty PBR Streetgang take the reigns for 2 gems from the stash! Michele's 1977 'Magic Love' kicks things off in fine style, a slick bass driven groove is what we get with this funked out slab of string laden Disco heat. Nicely cut n pasted for the DJ's, dropped at the right time this one will go off! On the flip is North End's 1979 jam 'Kind of life, kind of love', boasting some serious harmonica and an almost AOR feel, the PBR version clocks in at 10+ mins of building dancefloor magic! Tweaked just right, and with a respectful nod, these 2 new versions are essential for the discerning disc jocks out there.
