The first in the Little Beat Different Issues series, which came from ORM, gets an overhaul thanks to Ashley Beedle under his Africanz on Marz moniker, Regular Customer, Jonny Rock and Tasun. Little Beat Different Issues is a new series focused on reissuing music from Eastern European region previously unavailable on Western markets. Their first release was a compilation by project ORM, the moniker of Czech producer team Petr and Pavel ORM, originally formed as a disco group in the late 1970s and the pioneers of electronic dance music in former Czechoslovakia. It only makes perfect sense for old school to meet new school and for ORM to have their original tracks reimagined by our selection of current producers. Here's the 4 tasty edits that will see the light of the day soon on the slab of wax.

Second release for the label boRdeR Edits, which confirms its sound with four disco funk groove tracks, once again expertly cut and edited by RedRob. Despite the sounds remaining strictly classic without any modern nu-disco references, a much more dub-like structure makes them perfect for mixing in extremely eclectic dancefloors!

The second installment of the HouseHeadz00 Series, The Black Edition, is a masterful exploration of house music’s rich and varied landscape. This EP comprises four tracks that seamlessly blend different subgenres into a cohesive listening experience. It begins with ‘Recuerdo’, a track that captures the essence of classic house with its vibrant grooves and uplifting melodies, setting the tone for the journey ahead. As the EP unfolds, ‘Desire’ takes you deeper with its hypnotic beats and lush textures, creating an immersive soundscape. The deep vibes continue with ‘Dream’, a track that envelops you in a dreamlike state with its intricate layers and ethereal sounds. Finally, ‘Ever’ introduces a soulful dimension with smooth vocals and emotive harmonies, concluding the EP on a heartfelt note

Samosa Records cranks up the summer groove with another sizzling release in the outstanding (Re) Funk+Head series – a collection of juicy tracks from the Samosa back-catalogue selected and re-edited by the man himself, De Gama.

This sumptuous vinyl cut of ITALO Funk and Boogie kicks off with Mexico’s finest, The Funk District and the enigmatic ‘La Rapina’. This is pure, unfiltered Funk District chemistry from the first bar. Snake hips guitar, rolling bass and that super-solid 4-4-4 beat pound into your consciousness whilst the hypnotic chant and Latino-infused vocal tempt you into sin.

Next up on the A-side is Samosa head honcho DeGama and his deliciously refreshing ‘Piňa Colada’ - a new edit of the original 2011 version never previously released on Samosa. And what a mystery box it is. Tight beats, punchy bass, looped synth and house-tinged high-hat lead us to a haunting, melodic vocal breakdown. There’s a subtle Afro flavour to this one, definitely for sipping cocktails in a hammock or Caribbean beach bar.

On Side B Italian Maestro Paul Older takes the beats down several notches with the explosive ‘Daboom’ – the DeGama Re-Groove of Paul’s first vinyl release way back in 2019. This is a straight up, mid-tempo peacock strut down Funksville Boulevard. Possibly wearing a Zoot Suit. Imagine having breakfast with Herbie Hancock and you might get an idea of just how funky this tune is. He’s passing you the eggs and you’re buttering the toast.

The last track sees DeGama delve into his dark magic box for the mind-melting, film noir themed ‘Higher’. The tempo is scaled right back to 92bpm for this portrait of pain, joy, lust and hallucinogenic dreams. ‘Higher’ reveals a side of DeGama that we know lurks in there, but only sometimes makes it to the surface. Smokey, sassy and sultry, this is definitely one for the dimly-lit after party.

The latest episode in the (Re) Funk+Head has set the Samosa bar even higher. This simply has to be in your summer record box and don’t you dare leave home without it.

We're back! And we've brought some local aussie legends to join us on a cosmic outback bush boogie with 4 x epic dub-olicious, psych rock, Afro disco jams. On the A-side is the Space Jockeys who consist of Ash Moses (Tunnel Signs) and David Smith of mid 80's and 90's seminal dance act 'Boxcar' fame. If you don't know who Boxcar are then you need to hit that search tab and get familiar! Space Jockeys deliver an epic twist on Kingdom Comes - Time Captives, followed by Barney In The Tunnel with their take on classic Australian psych rock group The Ferrets - Tripsville. On the B-side Jerk Boy delivers some JB Edit re rubs of Snakeskin Tracksuit by African Head Charge followed by Super Mama Djombo's funky number tittled Dissan Na M'bera. We have a subtly edit of “Soul Town” by The Motherhood, the psychedelic 1969 LP “I Feel So Free. Motherhood was the unlikely name of Klaus Doldinger's psychedelic fusion band, who eventually transmuted into the bands Passport (Klaus Doldinger, Lothar Meid & Udo Lindenberg) & Hallelujah (Paul Vincent & Keith Forsey). “Soul Town” appears as the B-side to the first single “Back In The Grass”, which fetches ~$275. It was produced by Siegfried E. Loch, & written/arranged by Paul Nero. Many will recognize it as the closing track on the Ocean’s 13 soundtrack. It’s a psychedelic, jazz-funk bomb that punches hard.

I have been wanting both of these jazz-funk nuggets on 7-inch for a minute now, so much love to the GSC crew!

Any of us who grew up on Sesame Street in the 1970s will know this A-side righ away. “The Pinball Number Count” (or Pinball Countdown) is a collective title referring to the 11 one-minute animated segments on the TV series Sesame Street that teach children to count to 12 by following the journey of a pinball through a fanciful pinball machine. These segments are notable for the colorful, imaginative animation as well as the funkysoundtrack with vocals by The Pointer Sisters. It was produced in 1976 by Imagination, Inc. in San Francisco, California for the Children's Television Workshop & debuted on Sesame Street during Season 8 .

The third release of the Italoexotica Crew will take you back in time, more precisely to the Era of Disco music and the Italian nightclubbing, where the parties began with the romantic melodies of the pianobar and then ignited the souls, the passions and flowed into eroticism.

BPlan & Fab_o present the sixth release of their own Label, a 4-tracker of serious flavor! This time sharing the stage with the well known djs and collectors: Raregems. The A side houses the last BPlan & Fab_o cuts, two housy dancefloor killers with a unique flavor: A1 is an African hypnotic track and A2 is a fresh groovy track characterized by disco horns! On the flip you'll find two slow n sexy tracks form the label guests Raregems. B1 an B2 are two very rare gems indeed from the duo archive!! As usual grab your cup, I mean copy, while it’s still hot!

Mr. K is back with a tribute to one of the great tape editors that updates a timeless DJ crate staple, plus a proto-hip hop instrumental that works as a standalone groove or a useful disco tool, specially reworked for maximum sonic potential on the compact vinyl format.

First up is an extended edit of the Frankie Beverly and Maze sureshot “Before I Let Go.” Originally released on the best-selling 1981 Live In New Orleans LP, the track was not actually a concert recording but a new studio track made to fill out the final “D-side” of the double album live release. A smash hit on Black radio right out of the box, “Before I Let Go” was chosen as a single and went on to become a must-play standard for parties of all varieties, from club nights to family barbecues. 1991 saw the noteable edit on Moo Records that quickly became a DJ favorite with its skillfully extended intro and outro. Some 30 years later it can be revealed that this was the work of beloved NYC DJ and editor Gail “Sky” King, a formidable technician with the razor and tape, who considered this one of her best works. “Gail’s edit was unfortunately pressed at the lowest quality,” Krivit explains, “and as good and useful as the edit was, I often chose not to play it because of its harsh quality.” Working from a new, high resolution source, Mr. K carefully recreated some of King’s iconic highlights, while optimizing it for the 7-inch format.

Our flip side is a bit more unusual, but also a fun and funky one. legendary hip-hop pioneer DJ Hollywood, “Hollywood’s Message” was a self-released single from the man who was one of the first to grab the microphone at a jam and rhyme over records. In this case however, as a backing track for his rhymes Hollywood took a shortcut and used the renowned “Love Is The Message” edit created by Mr. K that repeatedly runs the groovy clavinet break from MFSB’s tune. Mr. K tightens up the instrumental chant version for it's first time on a 7" release, also adding a touch of Millie Jackson "Now That I Got Your Attention Again" at the top of the song as an intro, which in itself could be used to introduce almost anything, all custom fitted for 7-inch vinyl.

The tom-tom heavy tribal rhythm of “Wela Wela” is one of the rawest, hardest cuts from the band Black Blood, a conglomeration of musicians from the central part of the African continent who were based in Belgium. The group had a breakout single in 1974 with the exotica-leaning “A.I.E. (A Mwana)” but never were able to quite capture the excitement that single generated with their follow up records. We can only guess that songs like “Wela Wela” were simply way too heavy for the pop tastes of the day, since the groove is a beast! — an acid rock tangent of the “Soul Makossa” riff that radiates pure energy. Mr. K aserts “It’s an incredible song to dance to, but was not very DJ friendly, and I never seem to hear other DJs play it... or even talk about it.” Originally debuted on his Grass Roots album, Mr. K's new rearrangement should change that, especially now that it's been made available on this hard hitting, portable 7-inch format.

Originally released the same year as Black Blood’s debut, “Komi Ke Kenam (Fish & Funjee)” was discovered and distributed by a small independent Brooklyn label that featured many other incredible African bands of the 70's. The song opens with a tough breakbeat (subtly extended by Mr. K on our release), and rumbles over a funky bassline and slicing wah-wah guitar before bursting out with a sax-led climax, a gritty get-down jam if there ever was one.

Both cuts have been remastered expressly for DJ play and are loud and clubworthy, in new extended edits that tease every last bit of funk from the originals.
