Groovin Recordings Starts This NEW Series Featuring Three Killer Disco-boogie Tracks Originally Released From 1979 AND 1982. Essential Tunes !

When producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Diogo Strausz arrived in France for the first time, he already had an impressive CV. First, as part of the duo Balako, his music was released on Razor-NTape, Barefoot Beats and Greco-Roman after gaining the attention of Joe Goddard of Hot Chip. His tracks also have been played by Gilles Peterson on BBC 6. He also produced Brazilian indie artists such as Castello Branco and Alice Caymmi and remixed a track by Brazilian legend Gal Costa. Arrived in France, it is by signing the co-production of the disc "Les Bruits de la Ville" of Voyou or tracks for Julia Jean-Baptiste that he drew attention. Freshly signed on Goutte d'Or Records, affiliated label of Cracki Records, to whom we can thank for Agar Agar, Saint DX or Alma Elste, Diogo Strausz will present his first EP Flight of Sagittarius in April 2022. Flight of Sagittarius is both retro and current. Between the old school boogie of Marcos Valle and the jazz funk of Azymuth but also the sunny groove of Nu Genea or the electro-funk productions of Guts.

It's hard to believe we are now up to Volume 5 of our renowned Record Club series. Curating these compilations, where we share our latest musical discoveries and old favourites from the global stage, is always a labour of love. This selection is less dancefloor-driven than our previous volumes, as fewer opportunities for live events drove us to explore other paths and styles in the musical spectrum. But, whether you're DJing for a kitchen or a club, there is still a generous serving of spicy dancefloor magic. For Volume 5, we looked to a broad church - from Brazil to Cuba, Ghana, Jamaica, Japan, Mauritania, South Africa, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago, the UK, and the US. We pulled songs from the 70s up to the present day and feature a stellar cast of artists. There’s an exclusive track from Sven Wunder which was recorded solely for this compilation. We also have a track from Admin which was released as a private press 7" at the start of 2021 and one we felt was far too good to only be available for the lucky few. You’ll also discover one of our most treasured Gyedu Blay Ambolley productions, a full-force African disco colossus! The so much anticipated Volume 9 of the fortunate limited edition vinyl series FullTime Factory is finally here! Gems from the FullTime Production vaults re-edited and remixed with a House, Nu-Disco and Disco Twist! On Side A Jimmy Ross' Classic "S.O.S. Of Love" got brand new life through Flowersons' nu-disco attitude and "Tell Me" from the eponymous Rainbow Team album dated back 1981, is re-edited by J.B. Boogie. On the flipside, italo-disco funk gem "Gosh" by Galaxy band is rematered and repressed for the first time on vinyl, while the neapolitan funky jam "O' Guaglione" by Tony Cicco is re-crafted by the M.B. For their next release, Futuribile looks to the work of Salerno star Carlo Fontana, presenting a set of hard-to-find & unreleased treasures titled ‘La Musica Del Sud.’ Carefully remastered at the West Hill Studio, the collection of tracks — which features contributing arrangements from Tullio De Piscopo — forms a moody pop funk paradise, with jazz horns and soul brass layered together, and amorous vocals crooning, supported by lush harmonizations and greasy gliding bass. Disco beats and exotic drums dance, prismatic pads and soft synths seek the stars, piano and guitar sing a spaced out blues, and amidst the moving grooves and deep swinging jams, moments of beautiful balladry emerge to touch the spirit. Carlo Fontana's work is further testimony to a courtly and sophisticated musical aesthetic in vogue in Naples (and surrounding areas) between the 70s and 80s which had as its main proponents and protagonists exceptional musicians such as Joe Amoruso, Tony Esposito, Pino Daniele, Elio D'Anna, Enzo Cervo and many others.

Featuring rare, overlooked or not-previously-on-vinyl music from Bappi Lahiri, R. D. Burman, Ilaiyaraaja, Kalyanji-Anandji, Anand Milind, Raamlaxman and Kirti Anuraag released between 1982 and 1986. Mastered for and cut to vinyl by multi Grammynominated Frank Merritt at his mastering studio The Carvery. Naya Beat is incredibly proud to present the first in our series of ‘Awaaz’ (‘sound’ in Hindi) archival projects focused on uncovering the sounds of 1980s Bollywood Original Soundtrack Recordings (OSTs). Series 1 focuses exclusively on the musical output of CBS Gramophone Records & Tapes (India) Ltd. Active during India’s peak disco era – a time when synthesisers and drum machines became a mainstay in Indian popular music – CBS India became a home for established composers to be experimental, up-and-coming composers to get their start, B-movie soundtracks, and straight-to-VHS releases. Expertly curated by Naya Beat co-founders Turbotito and Ragz, who were given unprecedented access to the original label archives, this compilation is not just a collection of four-to-the-floor Bollywood disco (although there are plenty of those). ‘Awaaz’ is designed to take listeners on a musical journey that includes everything from leftfield electronic and mood music to outrageous proto house. Be it classic and hard to find cuts like Ilaiyaraaja's "Aye Zindagi Gale Lagaa Le" and “Mere Jaisi Mehbooba” (Bappi Lahiri’s Hindi remake of Herbie Hancock's “Rockit”), or the instrumental mood music of Kirti Anuraag’s VHS movie soundtracks, to the proto house of Raamlaxman’s “Dil Gadbad Jhala” and Kalyanji-Anandji’s “Aage Bhi Dushman,” or the synth and guitar drenched breakdance madness of R. D. Burman’s “Dekho Idhar Jano Jigar,” the music on this compilation captures the output of a label that was unique as it was unconventional. An homage to the genre, every detail in this stunning release has been lovingly crafted. From the laminate cover to the absolutely incredible foldout, to the cut-out and collage design, to the font type and layout, there are countless authentic details and nods to classic Bollywood releases of the era. As much of the album has been made in India as is possible. The sleeves have been handmade in New Delhi. The liner notes have been compiled by music archivist Nishant Mittal (aka Digging In India).

Amsterdam Italo Diva and art phenomenon Maxime Duvall is back! She releases a new smashing Tophit “Creatures of the Night” on her brand-new label “Disco Total Tophit Records”. This first release is produced by Machinegewehr and comes as double A-side with an intense Italoconnection remix on the flip side. Maxime Duvall is known for previous hits “All Night” and “Raining in my Heart ” released on the Bordello A Parigi label. Her outstanding and hysterical sing-along performances made her into a local celebrity with a huge fan base via her Disco Total parties. Her new label “Disco Total Tophit Records” aims to combine the best Italo Disco with visual- and performance art. With “Creatures of the Night” Maxime Duvall brings a melancholic and energetic Italo Disco inspired song with her trademark lyrics and an extremely catchy chorus. The song is driven by a solid arpeggiated bassline and builds up into euphoria with melodic and lush synthesizer melodies. On the flip-side, Italoconnection transforms the original track in a slow-burning, multi-climaxing and ecstatic mega track reminiscent of Giorgio Moroder.

Modern day Disco Remix king Mike Maurro strikes again! This time, Atlantic Records and Brookside team up and have Mike tackling two classic tracks by The Trammps: “Hooked For Life” & “Soul Searching’ Time”. “Hooked For Life” was released on Atlantic’s “Exclusive Disco Series” of promo only 12”s in the U.S. back in 1975 and “Soul Searchin’ Time” was also released as a promo only 12” in the U.K. on WEA’s ultra rare “Disco Special Cut” series. Both tracks get the “Maurro Remix” treatment with extended intro’s, instrumental passes and breakdowns, and finally mastered in Philadelphia by Mike Tarsia of the world famous Sigma Sound Studios.
