This is the real late nite music, recorded in 1987 at his home studio NEI (Gary, Indiana), Willie Junei Lee Jr's music is beyond this time. Guitarist, Director, Vocalist, Songwriter, Composer, Producer, Junei is still booking dates today.

After much online hype shrouded in mystery, Soundway presents the first in a new series of 12” releases which will make available many hard-to-find and in-demand dancefloor tracks on loud, DJ-friendly pressings.
On this first 12” are two late 1980s Ghanaian highlife cuts taken from the catalogue of Nakasi Records. Nakasi was run by the late producer Nana Asiedu (Big Joe) - a well-known figure in the Ghanaian and African music community of 1980s London.
The A-side showcases a track from Jon K’s second solo album, which was a re-working of a traditional Fanti language Asafo company song Asafo Beesuon. Made famous by C.K.Mann on his seminal album ‘Funky Highlife’, this version very much reflects the more westernised late 1980s sound of highlife music recorded in the UK, Holland, Canada and Germany for both ex-pat Ghanaian audiences and those back home in West Africa.
The album features the stalwart session musician Alfred Bannerman, the go-to Ghanaian guitarist known for the classic cut of ‘Let Me Love You’ by Bunny Mack, among many other tracks over the last 40 years, including his work on contemporary releases for Soundway such as Konkoma and Ibibio Sound Machine.
On the B-side, Pat Thomas (the brother in-law of Big Joe) needs little introduction having been touring the world extensively in recent years with the Kwashibu Area Band. Somehow this dancefloor-heavy cut has eluded recent compilations and reissues. With horns arranged by long time friend and collaborator Ebo Taylor, it’s an instantly recognisable sound that also features Rex Gyamfi - himself a well-known purveyor of 1980s ‘burger-highlife’.

In 2016, we unearthed and reissued the first Jodi album, "Pops de Vanguardia", which is probably the first DIY lo-fi garage / psychedelic album from South America, originally released in 1971. Now, we're over the moon with this incredible collection of unreleased recordings which were hidden in Joern Wenger's basement for several decades.

Attention! Jimmy Patrick Longfort's hit arising from Düsseldorfs cult hang-out Ratinger Hof in 1987 is now officially reissued for the whole universe. All three original tracks got remastered plus Tafs – the Netherlands best kept secret and part of the group Voertuig – produced a pushing, extra groovy instrumental rework of the title track. The 12" is housed in a full cover artwork based on the original with extensive liner notes by Rudi Esch (Electri_city, Die Krupps) on an extra insert.

The title track Attention! is about a young man, waiting in vain for his love's return but instead of a reunion the distance even grows and she leaves him with destination America. For sure this causes a serious and hard to bear heartbreak. Scream it out loud on the dancefloor and dance the pain away!

On rework duty we got Offer Van Kesteren under his Tapedeck Adventures From Space moniker. Slick funk grooves and super galaxy sounds that will heat you up. Burning hot.

Side B starts off with Ma'mbaillé, French lyrics, funky keys and steel drums – a true feelgood song that will make you dance wherever you are. This one is followed by Do You Really Love Me a highlife love song that closes this record properly. Play it again.

Coming at you hard with a brand-new release, that’s moved away from or usual unissued releases. DJ Rude Lead played Super Disco Edits a demo he and Tom Noble from Superior Elevation cooked up whilst Tom was in Denmark deejaying.
They approached in in-demand vocals of Jay Nemor from the states., who laid over some killer sultry lyrics and tones.
The song was only in demo form, so Super Disco Edits in house engineer Matt Fletcher and Owner of Super Disco Edits Russell Paine gave the song the boost and heaviness it desired! We really are pleased with the result, that’s cut super loud and sounds awesome over a big system.

Chances are if you are reading this, you are probably already familiar with Dinosaur L's “Go
Bang” and danced countless times to Loose Joints' ""It's All Over My Face"". A prolific musician,
Arthur Russell produced an abundant amount of recordings over the course of his career.
Although a classically trained cellist, he released a number of successful underground dance
hits under various monikers and collaborations. As a solo artist however, his inability to
complete projects resulted in a limited amount of official releases; World of Echo (1986) being
his only full-length solo effort to see release in his lifetime. After releasing a number of
Club singles on labels like West End & Sire, Russell went on to form Sleeping Bag Records with
Will Socolov as an outlet for a sound not as restrictive as his ""disco"" material.
The initial concept was that Russell would provide the musical direction while Socolov handled
the business side. The label had huge success early on with Class Action’s “Weekend” remixed
by Larry Levan, and Russell’s seminal “Go Bang,” credited to Dinosaur L and remixed by Francois
Kevorkian. Although Russell and Socolov shared a lot of musical common ground, the difference
in vision began to show. Russell’s avant-garde sensibilities and perfectionism were not
compatible with an industry standard to release singles in quick succession, and his ""work in
progress"" approach began to be financially draining, ultimately resulting in the dissolution
of their partnership around 1983. With Arthur's departure, Sleeping Bag moved away from the
experimental and towards a successful hip-hop route with the growing involvement of Kurtis
Mantronik and leading to propel the careers of artists like Todd Terry, Just-Ice
and EPMD.
By the mid-80s, Russell’s health began to deteriorate after contracting HIV. Although the
business partnership did not work out, Socolov and Russell maintained their friendship. Aware
of the time he had left, Russell reached out to Socolov to record what was to become Indian
Ocean, his last release on Sleeping Bag and the last great collaboration between Arthur and
his old friend Walter Gibbons.
Unlike the rest of Russell's Dance collaborations, “School Bell/Treehouse” is very intimate
composition, putting to the forefront all the elements that defined him musically; with his
own voice and cello as the anchors to a piece that keeps growing in intensity, melding the
tribal rhythms of Mustafa Ahmed’s conga with percussions that sound like distorted drum
machines. There is a lot of beauty in this piece, with Peter Zummo's melancholic trombone lines
and Arthur's keyboard playing. Adequately ""mixed with love"" by Walter Gibbons, ""School
Bell/Treehouse"" really synthesizes the energy and soundscapes of Arthur's dancefloor.

The Imperial Wonders are one of the finest vocal groups to come out of Cleveland Ohio. "Work of Art" has been remixed by Opolopo, Daft Funk, Pagger and Leo Zero from the original 80s multitrack tapes. Opolopo produces one of his trade marked boogie sensations that is exactly how the band had wanted it to sound in the first place, some proper 80s boogie vibe. New boys Pagger swaggers the groove with ease and panache. Daft Funk house it up some with deepness personified grooves. Leo Zero with some help from Des Morgan flips the song with a spaced out dub that rocks. One not to be missed.

This Banger form 2010 by croatia`s finest Ilija Rudman get a 7" re-issue treatment from personal records. A soulful pre-house journey filled with 80's keyboards and a heavy bass! With the Instumental on the flip.

They don’t get much more anthemic than Idris Muhammad’s ‘Could Heaven Ever Be Like This’ and who better to rework it than edit royalty, Late Nite Tuff Guy. Subtle in his touches yet incorporating a more DJ friendly, dancefloor orientated beat and tension building intro which teases elements of this classic before that instantly recognizable bass riff and staccato guitar chords come into play.
That subtlety is key when it comes to handling a record as epic as this, elements are accentuated and looped, delicate effects are woven in but the soul and feeling of Idris’ music is lovingly maintained by LNTG.
And for the purists out there, the flip houses the original mix so you’ve got two paths to heaven to choose from.

A much welcomed reissue of the 1978 Idris Muhammad gem 'Boogie To The Top'. Released a year after, arguably, Idris' most well-known anthem, 'Could Heaven Ever Be Like This' the similarities in style and composition are clear. Expertly produced, rich instrumentation, expansive drum fills, gospel tinged full-bodied vocals, all the while epic and life affirming in it's nature - what more could you want?
Young Pulse steps up on the b-side, to add his own subtle touches and tweaks to the original. Looping the guitar and echoing out the vocals whilst working in more of the synth lines. The addition of a crisp clap and extra percussion add an element more vibrancy into this mix, keeping the original feel intact whilst revitalising it for 2018.

The original 12” version of this badboy will set you back near on £150, so it’s a much welcomed official, remastered reissue. A favourite from the likes of Sadar Bahar and Mr Scruff you’ll be hearing this one a lot come summertime.

FFO: Arthur Russell, Stealing Sheep, Neu!, Agar Agar, Galaxians. Holodrum are a new disco-infused synth-pop group, who feature members of Hookworms, Yard Act, Cowtown, Virginia Wing, Drahla and more. Maybe Holodrum were destined to start at this point. This might be the first time they've all officially worked together, but between Emily Garner (vocals), Matthew Benn (synth/bass / production), Jonathan Nash (drums), Jonathan Wilkinson (guitar), Sam Shjipstone (guitar/vocals), Christopher Duffin (sax/synth) & Steve Nuttall (percussion) they've shared bands, mixed each other's records, promoted live shows and made music videos together in and around Leeds. As Holodrum, this is the 7 piece's debut album, but the interlocking grooves and hot headiness of their repeato-rock-via-CBGBs dopamine hits have in one way or other been fermenting for years. "When it comes to doing music most bands fall between two extremes of doing it for some goal or as an end to itself" says Shjipstone. "I think Holodrum is about the joy and complexity of living, and I just hope to god everyone gets to have a good time doing it." Ultimately the core of the group comes from Shjipstone and his former Hookworms bandmates Benn, Nash and Wilkinson. After their abrupt dissolution in late 2018, the four of them spent 6 months apart; Benn still had Xam Duo, his ongoing project with Virginia Wing and some-time James Holden & The Animal Spirits live member Duffin, Nash remains vocalist and guitarist of long-running DIY rockers Cowtown and helms his solo project Game_Program; and Shjipstone plays guitar with Yard Act. However, the 4 of them missed the sixth sense synergy they'd built-up playing together over a decade and soon enough demos were being swapped and new ideas were discussed. The vision of a large live electronic ensemble formed quickly. Friends were added: Duffin and Nuttall who was keen to resurrect the double percussion interplay that he and Nash had been exploring as part of motorik trio Nope joined first. Then animator and V...

Formed in 1970, Hokis Pokis was a seminal band in the New York disco scene with a handful of underground local hit singles including the highly-sought after “Nowhere” “Find What You’re Looking For” and “City Rhythm”.

Releasing several singles from the mid ‘70s all the way to the ’80s, Luv N’Haight has compiled all of Hokis Pokis’ musical output into an album which also includes 2 previously unreleased tracks. Remixed and remastered digitally from the original master tapes, the versions on the album are elevated from the already amazing originals with a cleaner sound and harder-hitting bottom end, bridging the gap between dancefloor fanatics in disco’s heyday to their modern day counterparts. Never before seen photos along with corresponding liner notes from DJhistory.com’s Bill Brewster are included in the deluxe double-LP package, telling the story of a group of friends that embark on a musical journey that continues to this day. Here four classic studio experimentations conceived by Harry Thumann former owner and main engineer of Country Lane Studios based in Munich, Germany: the home of the glorious munich-sound during the disco era. Many strong songs where produced here, so this EP represents the evolution in sound during that era mid-seventies early eighties.

Guy Cuevas is a French-Cuban writer, musician, and DJ, pioneer of the art of modern DJing. A key figure on the Paris night scene, Guy Cuevas gained a cult status as the resident DJ of the mythical nightclub Le Palace, gathering thousands of people every night under his booth, shepherding them with his music towards euphoria. He also collaborated with a great number of Fashion brands, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Dior, Hermès and many more. In the early 80s, Guy Cuevas released a handful of records, channeling his hedonism and natural grandeur into his sound, creating a unique music of his own. Totāl Cuevas brings together music from his three singles Ebony Game (1981), Obsession (1982), and Gallo Negro (1984), and includes previously unreleased alternate mixes. Guy Cuevas’s most iconic output, "Obsession - The Nassau Mix" (mixed by François K) gets a fresh new reboot with "Obsession - The Paris Version". Remastered from the master tapes.

Endlessly sampled across the board, for those dreamy guitar licks, killer Rhodes keys and luscious strings, Goody Goody ‘It Looks Like Love / Super Jock’ is a 1978 masterpiece of disco gold. Original copies of the Atlantic Promo 12” sell for upwards of £65 so it’s about time a remastered, officially reissue landed.
Produced by Vince Montana of MFSB and The Salsoul Orchestra fame, ‘It Looks Like Love’ was a Larry Levan / Paradise Garage classic and still commands dancefloors the world over. Flowing flutes, sultry vocals and xylophone twinkles open up proceedings, as those iconic, funk-flavoured staccato guitars and rising strings step up to the plate. Combined they produce a glistening groove that captures the feel-good factor of NYC’s disco apogee.
Delectable disco, fuelled by an undeniable funk that continues to be harnessed, chopped and sampled by some of house music’s biggest players from Nick Holder and Armando, to Tom Trago and Glenn Underground.
On the B side, soul-searching cosmic fluctuations via ‘Super Jock’, with interplanetary vocal refrains stretching out above a full-bodied bass, tight drumming and spacey Rhodes. Montana’s world class arrangement sees bongo-led percussive interludes and dancing keys solos take listeners to a mesmerising galaxy, far far away.
A double dose of that good stuff!

We’ve watched the movies, seen the photos, heard the stories. As in all of New York City, crime was as
rampant in the subway as it was on the streets. Thefts, robberies, shootings and killings were a frequent reality
throughout the 1970s. In 1979, a group of angered residents led by Curtis Sliwa began taking crime prevention
into their own hands, donning red berets – looking very much like a gang and calling themselves the Guardian
Angels. This funky track produced by the Legendary Patrick Adams and uptown empresario Peter Brown is
an ode to what was hapenning at the time. Like many of the P&P records of the time, this wasn’t dance music
for flashy downtown clubs, it was the real uptown funk!
“With bass as heavy as rolling stock, and field recordings from the subway tannoy echoing along almost
empty train carriages late at night, Margo Williams's vocals supply the inner city funk menace with some
almost ethereal soul.” At a crossroads between funk, soul and an emerging Hip Hop culture this track apealled
to both the disco crowd and the bravado of the uptown b-boys.

The Neapolitan producer makes a comeback on Horisontal Mambo with an ideal follow-up to his previous LP “Palinuro Phonebox” and once again teams up with label boss Prins Thomas for some mixdown touches. Halfway between italoboogie and Balearic beats, Chalet Miseno is a nostalgic ode to some 90s “estate italiana” holidays seen through the eyes of a kid. From the catchy beats of the title track (with its roaring motorbike intermezzo) and “Dragonara Punch”, to the dreamy soundscapes of “Luna Mirabilis” this album is guaranteed to be the perfect soundtrack to a hot summer (and a refresher for the long winter).

This is a carefully curated reissue. Originally recorded in 1981, this album is best known for its tropical boogie bomb 'Let's Talk About It'. Having drawn attention from diggers for quite some time, it's finally available again on vinyl. Besides this killer boogie tune a selection of five other tracks from the album that have remained unknown to most people complete this French boogie / reggae / zouk re-issue.

The story about the lost recordings of Ghia continues: Following the recently released "At The Hilton" single, our label is extremely proud to present "Curaçao Blue", the band's first full-length album. And it is simply mind-blowing, to say the least! The LP features 10 unreleased tracks in a similar Balearic vein as featured on the single.

Incredibly, it was only just a few months ago that these tracks were rediscovered on some old tapes by band members Lutz Boberg and Frank Simon. Could anyone imagine that two physics students from a small German town could create such beautiful, thrilling music in their home studio? Although the technical aspects in the creation of the band's earliest tracks may have been straightforward, the outcome is high-quality, creative, modern jazz-funk, with one step in the electro-funk genre due to the use of a drum machine and synthesizer basslines. The album features mostly 4-track recordings, based mainly on the musicians' weapons of choice: a Dx21 keyboard (later updated to the legendary Dx7) and a guitar. Many things had to be done live in just one take, though the artists were unafraid of using overdubbing techniques to weave their instrumental journeys. The DIY aesthetics just add more beauty and uniqueness to the songs and compositions, and the result is an extremely harmonic work of undeniable musicality. Ghia delivers Balearic jazz-funk at its finest.

Though the music was recorded in Germany, Ghia had a true relationship with the Balearic region and effortlessly applied the vibes to their compositions. As a side note, one track on their earliest demo tapes was called "3 AM at Moëf Gaga" and we did not know what it meant. The band explained that Moëf Gaga is a nightclub on the Spanish coast that is actually still active today. Boberg and Simon, the two original band members of Ghia, visited the club in the early 80s and spent their holiday close to the sea. With their music, they intended to create a summery vibe, capturing a relaxed and soulful view of the seashore, likely with a drink in hand... Perhaps a Blue Curaçao?

The album starts with a revised version of the title track. The drums in this take are much punchier, and we thought that it would fit just perfectly as an introduction. We continue with the already classic "Down At The Hilton" that was featured on the single, but like us, we are sure you could happily listen to this track on repeat. Next up, "Jump In The Water" opens with a catchy delayed melody, which develops into another perfect jazz-funk piece with an extended guitar solo. Another remarkable song might be "In The Fast Lane". As the name suggests, an uptempo number, now with an electro-funk beat combined with speedy keyboard solos that almost sounds like a marimba. On side B, the album keeps the relaxed seaside vibes flowing. To round out the album, we are treated to two pieces that originated after the return home, with memories of the Spanish coast fading but still lingering, likely recorded between 1986 and 1988. Both are instrumental versions of songs to be used later for studio sessions with their new band member, singer Lisa Ohm (who you will hear on Ghia's next album!). On "Crystal Silence In Dub" we get a perfect downtempo groove, positively reminding us of the sound of the 1980s UK funk scene. The album ends with "Keep Your House In Disorder", here as an earlier, rougher, and funkier take than on the final vocal version, which could be found on the B-side of the "What's Your Voodoo" single.

We hope you love this album as much as we do! Nothing like this has yet been released out of Germany. We hardly can recall any privately produced, home recorded jazz-funk/fusion from the 1980s as free, creative, and uninhibited as Ghia's Curaçao Blue. The playful and creative approach, coupled with those nostalgic tones should make this LP an essential pick for any record collection, whether you are a DJ, a home listener, a music lover, or a modern jazz-funk/synth-funk aficionado.

Back IN Print 2022 Edition - Limited Edition of 300 copies Recorded Live in Hyattsville, MD 1975-2015. George really had no interest in releasing this record. "Seeing Is believing, they don’t need records, trust me I did that, today they getting it live". So this record is that, live tapes from the house, recorded on a government issued cassette recorder from National Library Service for the Blind. George calls these his practice tapes for songwriting, and performance warm-up, and never beyond his ears were they intended to travel. "You just got to see me live if you want to really see me.. so when we get there just plug me in, and point me at that crowd". Last time I saw George they had him wired to the club system. He unplugs his Yamaha keyboard, licks the tip of the power cord and taps a beat on it, finally plugging in, synth lights up, tones all at zero, beats at zero. Then he builds from there, counting blind through a preset one hunderd factory tones and rhythm patterns. "I gotta start off at zero, and go from there." After the Marshmellow Band disperesed, he got this Yamaha keyboard, same one he’s been playing since 1990, endless scrolling over the same presets, trying to make them fit, tempo down, tapping while telling the story and asking if that feels right to you. "This always gonna be different live."Some selections on this album are original material from home sessions prior to George’s 1980 self- released LP. Two all-time George Duke greats, ‘I Want You for Myself’ & ‘Brazilian Love Affair’, get the official remastered, reissue treatment. First up, ‘I Want You For Myself’ Duke’s 1979 jazz funk, R&B tinged gem has got all the ingredients of classic from his illustrious catalogue. A funked up guitar and exuberant percussion, compliment Lynn Davis’ fabulously soulful vocals perfectly to make this a love song that’s sweeter than most. A Duke classic wouldn’t be complete without a killer, keys solo and ‘I Want You For Myself’ shows off his talents in abundance. The infamous Tom Moulton takes on edit duties splicing it into a 10-minute exploration of this fusion powerhouse, extending and enhancing elements in the mix, alongside adding an epic breakdown in a way that only he knows how. On the B side, the stone-cold killer ‘Brazilian Love Affair’ is a Latin American, jazz funk classic. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Duke drafted in a host of greats to guest on the track, each bringing something unique to the table. From Airto Moreira’s expert latin drumming, to Byron Miller’s heavyweight bass and Roland Bautista’s overdriven guitar. Duke supplements this to a tee with his blissful vocals and an otherworldly Rhodes solo. Much sampled, much loved, this is a masterpiece that needs a place in the collection.

A multi genre-busting release that has transcended most dance scenes from Modern Soul, Rare Groove, Crossover and Boogie to become perhaps the most in-demand '80s record on the current collectors scene.
The popularity of "Don't Send Me Away" was recently confirmed when a YouTube clip of Garfield himself, performing "Don't Send Me Away" at a Paris record stall in late 2018, went viral with over 2,000,000 views to date.

Mr 'Please Don't Send Me Away' Garfield Fleming returns to vinyl for the first time since the early 1980s with this 7" release on Cordial Recordings with the boogie bounce back of Ain't Nothing Too Good For My Woman coupled with the acoustic version of Hustlin'. Both songs are new productions with Devon based Ourra (Star Creatures) providing the magic of "Ain't Nothing Too Good For My Woman." which has received radio support from Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 6) and Richard Searling (Solar Radio) amongst many others. New York based Ben Pirani producing the acoustic version of "Hustin'", which does not feature on our forthcoming mini album by Garfield Fleming.

In 2021, Los Angeles trio Gabriels arrived in a whirlwind with the loose-limbed vintage soul jam of ‘Love & Hate In A Different Time’, a song that could have dropped in almost any era. A stone-cold classic, it introduced a band so much more than just the sum of their supremely talented parts. For the first time, ‘Love & Hate In A Different Time’ is now getting a special 7 Inch release with a previously unreleased live version of ‘Spanish Harlem’ recorded at BBC Maida Vale studios for a Gilles Peterson 6 Music session. Two years ago, Ferdi Schuster was a young multi-instrumentalist and producer
daydreaming of releasing his music on Claremont 56, one of his favourite labels.
Now he’s set to release his stunning debut album, “All One”, on Paul Murphy’s
long-running imprint.
It’s been a long time between drinks for the German producer, who last graced
C56 with his superb double A-side single, “Little River/Befreit”, in the autumn of
2017. Fittingly, it’s “Little River” – a babbling brook of audio bliss rich in sambainfluenced
drums, soothing acoustic guitars and spacey synthesizer licks – that
kicks off “All One”, a seductive set in which every drumbeat, piano note, guitar
riff, synthesizer flourish and fireside-warm bassline was played by the man
himself.
Throughout, it’s easy to see why Murphy decided to snap up Schuster and
push the producer to record a debut album. Check, for example, the dubbedout
shuffle of “Thinking of You”, where ghostly chords, soft-focus guitar solos
and ethereal vocals drift across the soundscape, and the slowly unfurling bliss
of “The Good Fight”, an effortlessly Balearic workout rich in sun-kissed guitars,
bubbly synth lines and chords so snugly they could probably be used as a
comfort blanket.
Schuster’s greatest strength is undoubtedly the evocative and enveloping nature
of his instrumental music, which draws on a variety of complimentary influences
but never sounds anything less than original and fresh. Some listeners may be
enchanted by the loose and languid pulse of “Fading Away” or the lo-fi reggaejazz
of dusty closing cut “Night Talk”, though others may prefer the stoned funk
shuffle of “Interaction” or the spacey vibrations of “Pulsa”, where intergalactic
synthesizer lines wind their way around heady bass guitar and sparse, off-kilter
deep electro drums.
“All One” is that kind of set; an atmospheric and musically accomplished
collection of cuts capable of muting the mundane and distracting from the stress
of 21st century life. As debut albums go, it’s something of a stunner.
