Censored by a controlling under powered label we have finally released the album as it was intended. Altamont was no joke, it changed the world, it changed rock n roll forever. We covered at least one song every band that participated in Altamont…minus The Grateful Dead, who went home scared. Every song has a lords twist that is like a solid punch between the eyes. This was one of the hardest and funnest albums to record. It was great seeing all the past members come together for a session. Burrito Bros, Jefferson Airplane, Rolling Stones, Santana, Crosby Stills Nash and Young…how did we do it???? Second album by cult Norwegian heavy prog-psych band Lucifer WAS, originally released only on CD in 2000. Epic & doomy atmosphere in the best early 70s tradition with great use of Mellotron, flute, killer hard guitar…imagine a mix between Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull with a dose of King Crimson and Black Widow. Includes insert with liner notes and photos and download card of the full album plus two bonus tracks. “In Anadi’s Bower” was the follow up to “Underground And Beyond” and featured new singer Jon Rude. The band’s idea was to make another “Underground And Beyond”, to record more of the band’s 1970 – 1973 material fast and rough. But this time they chose to use a producer, Rolf Kjernet, and they also had a bigger budget and more studio time. All the basic tracks of guitar, bass and drums plus guide-vocals were recorded live in the studio on analog equipment. Just like before on “Underground And Beyond”. Even the 11 minutes “Little Child” does not have one single edit of the basic tracks we recorded live-in-the-studio. “We were completely into making it good and really enjoying ourselves in one go. Still, it was also an escape. There were some greening of the grass and auras of the trees seen in the dim light of midnight. Outside. First ever release for this previously unknown late ‘60s/ early ‘70s acetate, rescued from a thrift store in Chicago. Damaged heavy blooz-psych in the vein of Blue Cheer, Majic Ship, Mount Rushmore, Houston Fearless, Apryl Fool, Sweet Slag, Mutzie, Aum, Screw, or a wasted teenage Canned Heat. In these digital and interconnected times, it’s very rare to find an album from the 60s-70s which hasn’t been documented or “discovered” yet. That’s the case with a mysterious demo LP titled “A Very Snug Joiner” by a band called Mad Timothy. In words of Steve Krakow (of Plastic Crimewave / Galactic Zoo): “A friend of mine found this no-jacket LP at a thrift shop, and there is ZERO information on them--no one knows anything and I've spoken to many collectors. Very cool sludgy Blue Cheer/Majic Ship/Mount Rushmore kind of vibe--with a few folkier tracks---it’s all pretty charmingly primitive-- I think people would want to hear this!”
Even knowing that our efforts to track down the band were fruitless, we thought that this rarity deserved to be shared with the world, so we at Out-Sider / Guerssen in collaboration with Steve’s Galactic Archive imprint, are doing a vinyl edition of the Mad Timothy demo album, hoping that any of the band members will see it and contact us…

Emotional Rescue returns to early 1980s Manchester with the previously unreleased music of Michael James Pollard and his beautiful distillation of indie pop in Too Confusing and bedsit cover version of Ashford and Simpson's Surrender. While studying photography at Manchester Polytechnic, MJ) Pollard lived and played in a band in a ramshackle house in Walley Range. In the cellar studio he would write and record his own songs using their guitars, fretless bass and keys, as well as his own Casio VL-Tone Vl-1 and Simmons Clap Trap to augment his drums onto a 4 track Teac. By 1983, and now solo, he was recording out of Dislocation Dance's studio Erc111), had secured a Peel Session and via Factory Records' Lindsay Reade, was discussing with Fundacao Atlantica about releasing an album. Working with singer Sioux Goddard as a duo, they put down 8 songs in 2 weeks in summer '84. However, Fundacao Atlantica's financial difficulties and soon closure meant the songs were lost until now. Recovered off the original tapes and lovingly restored, Too Confusing captures the optimism of the sessions, a summer love melody of forlorn youth. Surrender accompanies, recorded back in that cellar in '81, with friend Stephanie Danziger on vocals, its lo-fi simplicity is a perfect take on an all-time classic, making this a newly prized gem of British indie pop history.

Morgen’s self-titled 1969 album is the sole release by the NYC band led by songwriter / vocalist Steve Morgen. Now-Again’s Reserve edition of the release pairs the album with previously-unreleased songs and alternate takes to create denitive double LP reissue of the album. That casual listeners have never heard of this late 60s masterpiece is by any measure a musical injustice. Morgen offers a portal to a dream space where the expansive, artful touches never prevent the band members from pummeling their instruments like their lives depended on it. Paul Major, perhaps the first Morgen evangelist, likens the album’s immediacy to that of Hendrix, stating “Morgen was one of the records that came closest to giving me that same kind of thrill on that level. It blew my mind!” Geoffrey Weiss, Now-Again’s nomination for World’s Greatest Record Collector, states “…unlike 95% of the rare psychedelic records that people celebrate it sounds like they were good musicians who were well rehearsed and had worked out this sound very intentionally. Morgen has a kind of power – you really can’t compare it to anything.” The band, and Morgen’s arc were – cribbing Kurt Vonnegut – unstuck in time. It took 50 years for Steve Morgen’s belief, for instance, that an alternate, superior version of his stellar “Purple” was recorded in 1968. It sees release here, alongside other takes of songs from the album, including a version of “Beggin’ Your Pardon (Ms. Joan)” on which Morgen’s fiery guitarist Murray Shiffrin sings lead and songs the band recorded as possibilities for the album, before settling on their dense, hazy vision and etching an indelible entry into the psychedelic canon. The set is rounded out with the inclusion of extensive liner notes by Jeff “Chairman” Mao as well as never-before seen photos and ephemera in an oversized book. Songs For Judy is the debut release on Shakey Pictures Records, Young’s own imprint distributed by Reprise Records. Songs For Judy is thoroughly engaging collection of live acoustic performances culled from Neil's November 1976 solo tour and features twenty-two songs recorded at various cities along the tour. This song cycle of live recordings is particularly powerful and unique. Young had spent much of the year traveling around the world on tour with Crazy Horse. When touring on his own, he recharged and focused on songs that would not surface in recorded form for several years. Of the albums many treasures, "No One Seems To Know" would not see the light of day until now and it remains unreleased in any other iteration.

The raw versions of the tracks found on Songs For Judy reflect an artist completely unvarnished and unafraid to allow the songs to breath and to find their own shape when performed in a solo setting. Songs written in that era would come into focus and then seemingly disappear only to re-enter Young's orbit somewhere down the road. "White Line" and "Give Me Strength" are such examples of finding the light in 1990 and 2017 respectively. It's also fascinating to hear Young revisit early gems such as Springfield's "Mr. Soul" ('67), "Here We Are In The Years" ('68), and "The Losing End" ('69) from some of his earliest solo recordings which remain as timeless as ever.

Neil Young’s extensive tour with Crazy Horse in 1976 comes after the release of On The Beach in 1974 and two albums, Tonight’s The Night and Zuma, the following year. The first live appearances with the new Crazy Horse with Frank (Poncho) Sampedro replacing the deceased Dan Whitten consist of four shows in ten days in little clubs and bars in northern California, dubbed the “Rolling Zuma Revue.” An extensive world tour was booked, called “The Year Of The Horse,” beginning on March 3rd, 1976 in Nagoya. This was Young’s first visit to Japan and he played seven shows in Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Tokyo.

Controversial glam act New York Dolls were the epitome of rock ‘n’ roll excess, prefacing the rough edges of punk. Formed in late 1971 and initially known as Actress, the earliest incarnation featured bassist Arthur Kane, guitarist Rick Rivets and the guitarist that would become Johnny Thunders, with drummer Billy Murcia and singer David Johansen; soon, Rivets was replaced by Egyptian-born Sylvain Sylvain. Decked out in androgynous clothing, including platform boots, lipstick and body stockings, The Dolls toured England in 1972, which was ruptured by Murcia’s tragic alcohol-and-drugs-related death, bringing Jerry Nolan into the group. Signing to Mercury, they issued a self-titled debut, followed by Too Much Too Soon, but disappointing sales saw Mercury drop them. Live At Radio Luxembourg was recorded in December 1973 and features hot live versions of songs from these two seminal studio albums; with plenty of banter delivered in cod-French accents between the tracks, the set reveals the group in their prime, their no-limits attitude taking the form of raucous guitar riffs, shouted vocals, crashing drums and driving bass, and in addition to classic Dolls like “Puss N Boots” and “Jet Boy,” there are some blues references too.

Pink Floyd Live At Knebworth 1990 for the first time on CD, double vinyl and digital platforms. This headline show was part of the star-studded 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire that saw Pink Floyd topping the all-star bill that included Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Robert Plant (with Jimmy Page), Cliff Richard, Eric Clapton and Tears For Fears. Around 120,000 music fans saw these giants of rock appear on the hallowed stage of Knebworth, all in aid of the Nordoff Robbins charity, profits from which went towards setting up the BRIT School. The concert was broadcast globally on MTV.

This stunning live concert features many of the bands best known songs including Comfortably Numb, The Great Gig In The Sky, and Wish You Were Here. Alongside David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright, the album also features original The Great Gig In The Sky vocalist Clare Torry, plus guest musicians including sax player Candy Dulfer and keyboard player and composer Michael Kamen.

David Gilmour and Andy Jackson have remixed the audio from this iconic concert featuring all seven tracks performed on the day, and the album features new artwork shot by Floyd collaborator Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell of Hipgnosis and designed by Peter Curzon of Storm Studios. The concert, previously unreleased until it appeared on 2019’s Later Years box set, is now available as CD or double Vinyl set for the first time as a stand-alone album.

The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria studios. This was the first time they had done so since the 'Wish You Were Here' sessions in the seventies. Those sessions resulted in The Division Bell, the band's last studio album.

In 2013 David Gilmour and Nick Mason revisited the music from those sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire. It would be the last time the three of them would be heard together. The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music,using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River.

The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, 'Louder Than Words', (with new lyrics by Polly Samson), arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.

33 minutes of pure, unadulterated, psychedelic Krautrock courtesy of PYRAMID: an obscure studio project produced by Toby Robinson aka The Mad Twiddler. These sessions were recorded circa 1975-76 in Cologne for the underground Pyramid label, which was operated by Toby and his friend Robin Page (the Fluxus artist). During that time, Toby worked as engineer and assistant at various studios in Cologne, including the famous Dieter Dierks studios, where most of the albums from the Ohr/Pilz/Cosmic Courier catalogue were registered. Having access to the studios during dead hours, Toby recorded lot of sessions just for fun without any commercial interest, featuring friends and musicians who frequented the studios and the underground art/music scene of Cologne. Some of these sessions were later relesed as hand-made vinyl micro pressings on his Pyramid label with help from artist Robin Page.

Kupa 4 (Kupa Dörtlüsü) was a band formed of Greek and Turkish musicians who lived in a mutual culture in İstanbul (or Constantinople). Their roots connected to rebetiko and laiko, but they were also children of the revolution. Therefore while playing in a tradition of a laiko band, they also had influences from beat and surf. Groovy drumming, Killer Farfisa, and bouzouki-like electric guitar sounds are the key elements in Kupa 4's soundscape.

The band rocked the taverns in Turkey and attracted both minorities' and Turks' attention until the Cyprus crisis in 1974. In this compilation, you will be hearing the recordings of Kupa 4, where they performed a unique laiko beat/surf style made in Turkey. Il Rovescio della Medaglia was born in Rome in 1970 from an idea of guitarist Enzo Vita, then Stefano Urso on bass, Gino Campoli on drums and singer Pino Ballarini joined the band. Unlike many prog-rock bands of the time (pfm, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Orme, Osanna,...), they chose not have a keyboard player, aiming to offer so a straight-hard rock sound with a strong live impact. Showing great skills with their instruments, they played live at many festivals in in Italy. In 1971 they signed a deal with major RCA to record their first album entitled “La Bibbia”. Recorded live in only one day (!) it’s a “rock bomb” and immediately a triumph among critics and audiences. In 1972 they recorded their second album entitled “Io come Io”, inspired by Hegel's philosophy. Then they started to tour (also outside Italy) and play live with their “rare” huge music-equipment, infact at the time owning more than 10 thousand watts of power was thing reserved to few groups. At their shows people was hit by a sonic avalanche! In 1973, Luis Enriquez Bacalov, famous orchestra conductor and composer of many motion-soundtracks (won a Oscar with Troisi's “Il Postino”) contacted the band to propose to work together on a new album that would have melt rock to symphonic music. For Bacalov it was the third experience like this, after the previous successes with New Trolls (“Concerto Grosso”) and Osanna (“Milano Calibro 9”). The result of this cooperation was the album "Contaminazione". It’s considered a milestone of the italian progressive rock, taking inspiration from by J.S. Bach’s preludes and fugues while lyrics tell the alleged theme of a Scottish son not recognized by the great Austrian composer. It was a worldwide success, so high that RCA company also released an english language version with the title “Contamination”. To present live the new album Il Rovescio della Medaglia recruited a keyboard player, Franco Di Sabatino. Unfortunately later their truck with all the precious equipment is stolen and even if the most famous bands of the time organized a concert to help them, at the “Piper” in Rome, the band feels the blow: the singer left and after a new single, they decided to quit. Founder Enzo Vita began his career as session-man collaborating with many Italian artists and in 2011 gave new life to the band releasing a new album “Microstorie” with Roberto Tiranti (Labyrinth, New Trolls,…) on vocals. In 2016 it’s time for another new album, entitled “Tribal Domestic” (with major Sony) back to a progressive and symphonic rock sound as the first album “La Bibbia”. Featuring Chris Catena on vocals with the help of the first singer Pino Ballarini and many international session-musicians. In 2017 Enzo Vita contacted bassist Andrea Castelli (Shabby Trick, Silver Horses, Mantra, Cappanera…) to form also a live-band to bring on stages once again their music. From this collaboration they release "Contaminazione 2.0" (Jolly Roger Records 2020) recorded live in San Galgano and totally focused on their album "Contaminazione" and now "La Bibbia - 50th Anniversary" (completely re-recorded) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut; the record gave at the time the "Italians Black Sabbath" nickname to the band: for fans of the genre it can be considered the first Italian Hard Rock album for its original heavy sound, so dark and powerful thanks also to the excellent skills of the musicians.

The songs gets its magic from a beautiful mix of groove, melodies, fuzzy hard rock and dreamful psych prog rock influences.
