Emotional Rescue returns to early 1980s Manchester with the previously unreleased music of Michael James Pollard and his beautiful distillation of indie pop in Too Confusing and bedsit cover version of Ashford and Simpson's Surrender. While studying photography at Manchester Polytechnic, MJ) Pollard lived and played in a band in a ramshackle house in Walley Range. In the cellar studio he would write and record his own songs using their guitars, fretless bass and keys, as well as his own Casio VL-Tone Vl-1 and Simmons Clap Trap to augment his drums onto a 4 track Teac. By 1983, and now solo, he was recording out of Dislocation Dance's studio Erc111), had secured a Peel Session and via Factory Records' Lindsay Reade, was discussing with Fundacao Atlantica about releasing an album. Working with singer Sioux Goddard as a duo, they put down 8 songs in 2 weeks in summer '84. However, Fundacao Atlantica's financial difficulties and soon closure meant the songs were lost until now. Recovered off the original tapes and lovingly restored, Too Confusing captures the optimism of the sessions, a summer love melody of forlorn youth. Surrender accompanies, recorded back in that cellar in '81, with friend Stephanie Danziger on vocals, its lo-fi simplicity is a perfect take on an all-time classic, making this a newly prized gem of British indie pop history.

"Those who meditate in silence": it is one of the meanings of the Sanskrit word "Muni", a new musical project by Nicola Caleffi, multi-instrumentalist and founder of the Italian band Julie's Haircut. The debut album "Soma" (the sacred drink of the Vedic cult) was born from a day of studio improvisation which also involved Laura Storchi, a Julie's Haircut founding member, Claudio Luppi and Pierluigi Lanzillotta, the latter two engaged in various projects including the psych-rock outfit Pip Carter Lighter Maker. As invigorated by the properties of the Soma itself - the nectar that brings health and immortality - our four “cantors” unleash their minds to give life to an initiatory journey in deep communion with nature. From the thrilling Fourth-World plots of "Drinking At The River Of Light", which hides jazz-veins inspired by the Miles Davis of "He Loved Him Madly" and "In A Silent Way", to the psychedelic drifts of "Spirit Animal ”, in which horn players Silvia Orlandini and Paolo Campani also participate playing their winds, Muni manage to make spaces and silences resonate, transforming music into an imaginary landscape. Among ethno-tribal textures, in which the Bruce Palmer of "The Cycle Is Complete" era resounds, mystical psychedelia and sidereal excursions, also the tracks "Presence By The Fire" and "Corona Borealis" follow one other, closing the circle of a pilgrimage that Muni travel between heaven and earth accompanied by three very dear texts, which attended during the studio sessions: the Bhagavadgītā, the zen poem Shodoka by Yoka Daishi and the poems by Dylan Thomas."Soma" was recorded and mixed by Gabriele Riccioni and is published by Backwards Records on 300 vinyl copies. From a while I felt lost in time with this Dream Trip Machine, and my mind trips to the classic isle of wight festival in 1970, sometimes I feel that I travel cross desert on my old dodge challenger with sunglasses, an 8 tracks playing this music, and sometimes I get to an ancient hindu stone temples, damn !, this music I think Is balance, the necessary elements for the whole joy of our human existence. Jerry Cutillo, deus ex machina of the artistic nucleus named O.A.K. (Oscillazioni Alchemico Kreative), is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. Øresund Space Collective (øsc), formed in 2004, is a totally improvising Scandinavian space rock band and has been releasing albums since 2006. The band has played concerts & festivals all over Europe. Their music is quite diverse and influenced by the ever-changing line up in the collective. This album features one 62min track split over 3 LP album sides, recorded in the studio back in 2014. The same session that gave us the 'Different Creatures' and 'Visions Of...' LPs/CDs and features some of the best musicians from the Scandinavian prog rock field. This is about as Prog Rock as the band has ever been with the track taking many different musical journeys over the 3 album sides. Side D (Descent to Reality) of the vinyl contains a full length version (the CD contains an edit) that is a unique mixture of Indian raga and space music with just synthesizer, sitar, violin, bass and drums.

Doctors of Space is a new duo formed by Dr Space (Øresund Space Collective, Black Moon Circle, Aural Hallucinations) and Dr Martin Weaver (Wicked Lady, Dark). The duo, synthesizers & guitars, create a unique mixture of space rock and psychedelic music. The tracks are either created across the internet or at Martin’s home studio, where the group meets once a month to make new music. This is their first full length release. They have already released one 7” (self-release) and a digital only collection on Bandcamp. 'Journey to Encaladus' (see video on Bandcamp) is a heavy rocker with some incidinary guitar work backed up by space drums. Martin programmed the drums and plays the bass as well on this one. 'froth' is a more laid back and spacey track with acoustic guitar. 'Rip Snorter' is something totally different with intense electronics and guitars. 'Into the Oort Cloud' was an amazing space jam that they had. There are two bonus tracks on the CD, one is more laid back & features their friend Hasse on bass & the other is another of the band's favourite jams they have had early 2020.

Jimi Hendrix In Maui with the accompanying live performances on both audio and video. The film chronicles the Jimi Hendrix Experience's storied visit to Maui, their performance on the dormant lower crater of Haleakala volcano on the island and how the band became ensnared with the ill-fated Rainbow Bridge movie produced by their controversial manager Michael Jeffery. Directed by John McDermott and produced by Janie Hendrix, George Scott and McDermott, the documentary incorporates never before released original footage and new interviews with firsthand participants and key players such as Billy Cox, Eddie Kramer, Warner Bros. Executives and several Rainbow Bridge cast members, as well as it's director Chuck Wein. The Blu-ray will include the full documentary as well as the 16mm color film shot of the two afternoon performances captured on July 30, 1970 mixed in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Also included in the package will be Live In Maui - both of the aforementioned sets spread across 2 CDs, newly restored and mixed by longtime Jimi Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer, and mastered by Bernie Grundman. Included are breathtaking renditions of crowd favorites like "Foxey Lady, " "Purple Haze" and Voodoo Child (Slight Return), " as well as then-unreleased songs like "Dolly Dagger" and "Freedom" that showcased the new direction Hendrix was moving toward.
