Dance culture has always gone side by side with hip-hop. Another proof of this is the new solo project YATUT (translated as «I’m here») by the legendary beatmaker Boora, originally from Kaliningrad, and now based in Los Angeles. His Debut EP called Vahue (translated as «I’m shocked») on Minor Notes is a collection of reflections on life changes, moving to another country, and the difficulties that accompany migration at all. Musically, this release is woven from a variety of samples and breaks combined with the analog sound of the Roland JV-1080 synthesizer and MPC One. The opening track, 'Dracula’s MPC', sets the tone with its club-ready elements: crisp drums, deep bass lines, and captivating vocal samples that command attention throughout. On the B-side, "Interlude" offers a glimpse into Reflex Blue’s large palette with its boppy and quirky breaks. It's a spectral record in every sense, making it the perfect sophomore release for the label.

You might have caught the breakthrough producer bringing their wayward signals to Hakuna Kuala for their debut 12” Sea Of Trees, but a dive into their Bandcamp shows a prolific studio head turning out beats with laser focus and unstoppable flair. Messing with the physical essence of Gqom, Dubstep, Grime, Trap, abber and more besides, the T5UMUT5UMU sound flexes between styles to make up its own soundsystem language, and this new EP on Sneaker is the perfect demonstration.

Deadly square wave bass punching into the dead of night, granulated speech patterns and whipcrack drums, grimey flute stabs and dramatic percussive rolls all spill into the soup at various points and the mood remains heavy at all times, but it’s never morose. The drops are too fiery to keep your head down, and there’s space for more than just sullen sonics (check the rousing melodic refrains hovering over the tumbling taiko drums on ‘Ikusa’ and you’ll see what we mean).

This kind of inventive progression of the bass music idea is exactly what Sneaker is built on, and it’s our pleasure to bring it to your ears.

Euphoria Jones represents a sonic journey towards the golden era of UK hardcore, filling our heads with catchy stabs that will stick with you for days, alongside heavy and distorted drum breaks. After some years mashing dance floors as a dubplate, we are very proud to finally announce its release in a special limited edition.

This record is brought to us by the Sevillian regent of breaks and bass, Hartta! Producer and DJ from Seville, who lived in Bristol for some years where he drank from the legendary local sounds and its soundsystem culture which shaped the current electronic music scene. Alongside Random Vestax, they manage the label-collective Dead Trax, releasing music and putting on iconic club nights featuring local artists and international bookings, some of them playing for the first time in Andalucía, such as Nikki Nair, Aloka or Interplanetary Criminal.

“Who said that the hardcore would die?” Thus yells out the sample in Midnight Eulogy, the second track of this record, which in itself is proof that this genre is more alive than ever. The evolution of 90s breaks crystalizes in this banger, containing all the classic sonic elements from the rave anthems we love, but creating a fresh piece by combining these elements with an idiosyncrasy unique in its species.

The B-side is completed by a radical and ruthless remix of the title track “Euphoria Jones”, by none other than our own Bazofia! From the Fontanal, he brings us an acidic and darker version taking us through an all-terrain 4x4 beat to a drop representing a truly electrifying slap to the face.

Born in Ningbo, Guohan began shaping his sound within the underground music movement of southern China. After relocating to Nottingham UK, he became involved with the city's music scene where he self-released his solo LP 'Lost Sound Book' in 2021. In keeping with his previous releases, this new opus has been conceived on the basis of enveloping layers, deep bass and harmonies that are always very rich. The melancholy dimension characteristic of his music is also omnipresent, although it sometimes asserts itself with a form of violence.
